Hi everyone! In the comments let me know where your personal start with the Sonic series was! What was your first game? Did you ever quit the series at any point? What are your opinions on the current state of the series?
My first game was Sonic Heroes. That's how I followed the series after discovering and playing the earlier Sonic games back then after Sonic 1 Game Gear.
My first sonic game was sonic riders but I was introduced to the series tough the sonic underground cartoon on tv. I never wanted to quit the series because I can always go back to my favorite sonic games and replay them. Oddly enough, I enjoy the storybook games, sonic 06, sonic lost world, shadow the hedgehog and sonic forces. Maybe I'll one day emulate rise of lyric to see if I'll enjoy that one as well 😅 The only sonic games I don't like are sonic blast, sonic 3d blast, sonic spinball and sonic labyrinth. But even in those I can appreciate something like the music, visuals or unique gameplay. Sonic forces was disappointing but I enjoyed it for the most part, especially the avatar.
Sometimes I wonder what the alternate timeline where Sonic 06 had no issues during its development, lived up to all its promises and went down as one of the greatest games of all time is like.
@@valletas P-06 is shaping up to be the true Sonic Adventure 3. It has a ton of improvements including new cutscenes in levels, improved graphics, new visual effects, coherent story details in levels, new animations, restored unused content, better collision, new moves, new mechanics, ...fixed everything, and so much more that I haven't touched on. ChaosX has done the impossible considering he started the P-06 project from scratch on a crappy PC and not having played Sonic 06 himself. He analyzed game footage and used the game assets to recreate the game from scratch. Not to mention, he developed the majority of the project by himself. What makes this cool is that it's an official Sonic game being faithfully remade from scratch with the same assets and everything, but with major improvements. Here's someone playing through what ChaosX has completed so far: ua-cam.com/video/THnuV5oBgpA/v-deo.html Here's the game release video and download by ChaosX: ua-cam.com/video/q8lUisWw0Z4/v-deo.html
The Adventure style gameplay would have never left. No Sonic Unleashed, Generations, or Colors. Elise would have been a recurring character. Deep storylines would have remained. And Shadow would still be driving vehicles and using weapons. Maybe not the best timeline but he would have held his reputation.
@@videogameguy101 True. Still, I wonder how things would have been different if SEGA actually made plans of following through with generations and no Boom or Lost World. Who knows? Maybe Forces would have been actually good and could have had a timeline where spinoffs followed with the characters fixing what IDW has done in the comics? Everything of this "what if" stuff is interesting and all, but, Frontiers really is what I believe and am looking forward to with hype that it is the best Sonic game! Considering how the characters all have a potienal timeskip as their ages are gone from a official website, I am down with this game!
@@Qoobon_i was introduced through the movies when I was 12. Then I downloaded the Christian whitehead remake of sonic one then I started playing thousands of other sonic games on pc PlayStation and switch, no matter how the series suffers I will never forget my love for this series and how good it can really be
To make sonic, sonic, he needs to be edgey, stylish, groovy, heroic and heartwarming all while still being goofy, serious, funny, stubborn and having an attitude without being cringey
Funnily enough, Colors IS a game that has the acts split, in the files act 1 and act 2s were originally meant to be together, and the game would play more like unleashed and generations. Act 2s are in the files named as (the second half to old act 1) which refers to how sonic team was worried the game would be too short so they split up the acts, there’s actually a mod called “True Colors” that restores this original game.
Here’s the link, in case you’re curious. Haven’t tried it yet, but from reading the description, I’m definitely excited. This might fix Colors for me! forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?threads/sonic-true-colors-the-real-sonic-colors.39561/
I was born in 2001 and was lucky enough to grow up with the Classic, Adventure, and Dark Age simultaneously. The closest the series has gotten to disillusioning me was Forces, it was the only Sonic game I have ever refused to pay for and the first one I had major concerns with prerelease.
Same. I got mega collection on gamecube and both adventure games and the played the wii games, only watched stuff from 06 because I didnt have an HD console. But honestly after that I didnt really care about the series until mania but forces kinda lessened the love but the movie made up for it
I’ve done only 2 play throughs of Forces and I haven’t looked at it since. It has Zero re-play factor like Adventure 1/2 or Generations has for me. The levels are ridiculously short, the avatar thing is silly, it’s just...ugh....I’m sure you understand my frustration.
I got into the Sonic games with SA2, quit the games after Generations. I just got frustrated with Sonic being the only character playable and seeing my favorites like Knuckles, Amy etc become spineless cheerleaders who can’t do anything for themselves.
@@MrAveregeguy68 they beat the forced classic 2d sonic levels shoehorned into the new games. I did like the knuckles and rouge exploration maps, especially pumpkin Hill. But the tails/Eggman mech stages were just ass.
@@yderga8707 that’s certainly true but idk to me it slowed the pace down like I would just be dashing and then I’d have to find the emeralds or play the mech stages , I kinda prefer the first one because of that and because finding the emeralds wasn’t as tedious as in the second one , still love it though
@@MrAveregeguy68 i can see what you mean. Traditionally you play a sonic game to go fast so under those pretenses id understand how playing treasure hunt might break it up too much. I preferred how it was handled in SA1 where you play an entire story arc, so you weren't forced to switch constantly.
To be honest when it comes to the Sonic games. I feel like some Sonic fans are the result in the games constant changes. Why I feel this way is due to Sega listening to there fans and wanting to please them resulting in constant remakes or/and changes. Some Sonic fans are WAYYYY to finicky with Sonic and when they do something different or new "like Unleashed, 06, or generations" it's hated until a new Sonic game comes out and boom the previous game that was labeled bad is now good and the new game is "shit". Along with people following the bashing Sonic trend as well. This is an on going problem and it's sad. But anyway Love this video new to your channel too.
It's funny, because frontiers got announced in december, and suddenly people actually started to realized that forces wasnt as bad as people said it was.
@@kathryncampbell4432 People are a little concerned because they appeared to reuse the asset of sonic from Forces, and then they started about short quills and long quills and it's this whole different mess. The only issue in my opinion is the chance that it might not be a place holder. I'm excited for it though! even if frontiers isnt as good as we want it, im gonna play it a bunch!
SA1 and SA2 are my two favorite games of all time. I love the story of both the games, the backgrounds, the visuals, the soundtrack, each character having their own style of gameplay (well for SA1 at least) and there's even details in both the games that impress me to this day. I'm not really fond of Colors either. I don't hate it or dislike it but it is my least favorite of the main Sonic games. It honestly feels like a filler game to me right before the big anniversary game. 06 isn't perfect but I don't think that game is nearly as bad as people make it out to be. It has it's merits and I enjoy it.
The game that got me into the series would probably be Sonic 06. I never played it because I didn't have the console, but I loved the story so much that it hooked me into the series. Eventually I watched the cutscenes of SA2 then SA1. Those were the games that basically made me fall in love with the franchise. I kinda worked backwards.
I can kinda relate being one of those kids who looked at a bunch of fanart for Sonic until I got Sonic CD on a school ipad a few years ago. Still one of my favorites.
@GHZ J2691 Nope. I was born in 2003. Was never into Sonic the Hedgehog until about I'd say 2018. That year I found an old copy of Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing and I decided to look up each of the characters in the game. Then I decided to watch the game cutscenes of 06 because I remembered hearing everyone rant about how bad it was. I honestly didn't think it was that bad. Then I watched more game cutscenes, became obsessed with the franchise and here I am now. Sorry for the long reply.
@GHZ J2691 2005 here, I just didn't have any consoles back then until I bought a GBA in late 2017 so it was either the mobile ports or an emulator on the old PC I used to have.
Started with Sonic 1. Ended when Colors showed up. The 2010s was one of the longest eras and one of the most damaging to the franchise to me. Weirdly, you know what made me pay the most attention? The Sonic movie.
Agreed 2010s Decade were a huge mistake that wouldn't stop as far as the Sonic Series was concerned. I never really liked Sonic 1 & it keeps getting thrown in our faces with the 2010s being obsessed with Sonic 1 & to a lesser extent Sonic 2 & Sonic CD. The Just Sonic Mentality was a mistake to bring back in the aftermath of 06 & the 2010s bad joke direction made everything so much worse. 3 consecutive Sonic 06s would have been far less damaging than the 2010s Decade was.
@@WaterKirby1994 Agreed brother. They took the spirit out of the Sonic games, for people who never cared for it in the first place or noticed it by then. Now they see it, but will it ever come back? Who knows.
Man I remember when people used to bash the 2000s Sonic to the ground and claim that Colors and Gens was the correct direction to take the series, manly because people didn’t like the fact that the games had stories that were “serious” and “too many friends” but tbh I loved when the series had flare and style back in the day. Every year was a new game and I loved most of them believe it or not, (yeah I really like 06 it’s not in my top 10 and yes I see the problems it has but I really like going back to that game to replay the levels and improving each of my runs) And as people continue to bash these games to push for something more “back to basics” or “going back the classics” I felt that they were just some sweaty non Sonic fans that played the classics back in the day and only want that and nothing more, and when the 2010s first started, it felt that they were trying to cater to those people and when fans and critics were praising the games for their simple stories and gameplay, I deep down didn’t really like the direction but I didn’t want to admit or talk or type about it because If I did then people would reply to me saying stuff like “ewwww u like sa2 its only 1/3 Gud, now go play Sonic Colors that’s a reeeal sunik geeayme” I hated the direction the series had taken and the fans they’re putting at the forefront so much that I decided to leave the series in 2013 only watch the series crash and burn slowly, and when people started to bash Lost World for its over reliance of Classic remnants and wisps, and watched Boom die and fail to the point where it left a bigger stain on the series than it ever did, I started feeling happy that more and more people coming up that this isn’t the direction Sonic should take. I came back to the series in 2017 when they announced Forces and Mania, we all know what happened, we teared Forces down to shreds, and demanding for change more than ever. Watching all these people say that 2000s Sonic was him at his peak, and say that 2010s isn’t really a renaissance era, makes me feel like the Joker in the cop car scene where he was laughing the riots that he made.
Who tf is saying colors is good? I mean it’s not a bad game but it’s not as challenging as some of the other games. Doesn’t have the same level of charm either. Honestly secret rings wasn’t as graphically pleasing but Sonics charm was there
@@nolyfe4814 people believe colors is the best sonic game because IGN rated it like 9/10 and they aren't mentally capable of original thought. But mind you this is the same company that gives literally any nintendo game a 9/10, which is what colors and the lost world were going for. Not saying colors was bad gameplay wise, its story just sucked ass and the power up gimmick didnt really feel sonic-like. Sonic needs to break the mold and be edgy again, we don't need a second Mario.
@@nolyfe4814 ign rated it low, like a 6/10 but I still feel like Sonicteam was riding the Mario hype after the success of Mario Galaxy 2, since the two games feel very similar.
For me, Sonic Forces has brought me very close to leaving. I was already feeling that way a bit with Colors and Lost World, but the sheer disappointment and emptiness I felt after finishing Forces was unrivaled by any other video game I’ve ever played. I’m so glad I’ve found all these new content creators and fans online to help me rediscover my love for the series. With that, the seeming departure of the meta era writers, and a change in direction, I finally feel excited for Sonic again. Let’s hope they get it right this time...
Same. For me the next game will determine whether I leave the series for good. Best case scenario, it's a new Adventure style game/Adventure remakes, but as long as it's not boost gameplay and/or colors era story telling, I'll continue following the series with trepidation. I had initially left the series after 06, but not because of disappointment. I'd never played the full game but I remember liking the demo. I had just forgotten about the series because of other games catching my attention, and I was at the phase where the only games that interested me were FPS games like CoD and Halo. I remember playing Unleashed a bit when it first came out, but it wasn't until Generations that I'd had become reinvested in the series.
@Li Zhi-qiang - META I think there's only like 2 people that don't know that.. also this guy does sonic and dbz stuff, so even if you didn't know what dbz is, you could assume the pose is from dbz because of his content..
Live and Learn was the hypest thing on the planet as a kid for me. The story, characters rivalries, and very high, yet believable, stakes with the fate of earth hanging in the balance. It was an ideal experience for a kid. It's crazy to think that Shadow had his entire arc delivered in his debut game, and how quickly it cemented him as a mainstay. And then, in a mere few years, Sonic lost that magic. Sonic Heroes was a big wtf, and set the tone for how every game would now be fundamentally different from the ground-up going forward... and then I fell off the wagon with Sonic '06. I finished Sonic's story out of sheer attrition, and then the prospect of playing 2 more, even *less* polished stories, gave me a thousand-yard stare and made me leave the series forever out of sheer disgust. I'm glad it still brings people happiness, but I just don't see the appeal of modern Sonic anymore. Sonic Mania was excellent, but that wasn't even a Sega-made thing, so it doesn't count. It's telling how out of touch Sega is when a very small handful of fans who understand the spirit of the franchise do their job for them *far* better than even they are capable of. Makes for a lovely swan song for the franchise, though.
I really not come up with live and learn its not a sense at all i have better about open your heart because sonic have more passion on sa1 and may have loneliness but anyway i hate shadow the hedgehog because he's not pretty and getting his face so terrible fuck himself he cant even have a friend for his life maria isn't a all life for shadow because she's not a hedgehog and he should make her alive or make a new relationship with a hedgehog this makes a good hope for fanbases . . .
Penny Parker is the reason I got into Sonic and it's bizarre to me how much nostalgia I have for a franchise I've always known but literally never cared about until I randomly stumbled upon SnapCube
There were two games that got me into Sonic, those were Sonic Advance and Sonic 3 but the one that made me fall in love, funny enough it was Sonic Colors. Literally cuz it was really colorful and I enjoyed that, really everything about it lmao. The game that made me almost leave was Sonic Forces cuz it was so dissapointing and I had such a high expectation from it. I just pray that a miracle can make this franchise rise again tbh.
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 got me into the series and it led me to play past, present, and future games in the series. I also grew up with each of the Sonic cartoons on DVD and watching Sonic X on television with my older brother. If it wasn't for my brother being a fan of the series, I wouldn't have wanted to play the games with him and I wouldn't be the fan I am today. While there were moments where I was gravely disappointed with some games and even distraught with what might happen in the future, I am glad there was never a moment where I decided to quit the series. Every time I feel like I would have done so, there would be a new game to keep me wanting more. I don't think I could ever lose faith in the series not only because of the passion and love poured into past games, but from all the fans I have met both offline and online that contribute to their own projects as a labour of love for Sonic. I am worried for the current state of Sonic, but Sonic Team has bounced back before and I'm sure they can do it again. My only prayer is that they finally find something that works definitively for Sonic and keep working to expand upon it rather than forget about it the minute a critic or fan provide negative feedback on it.
Sonic Colors was the game that got me into Sonic in the first place. This was the very game that made me a fan of the Blue Blur all the way back in 2011 when I was just 9 years old. I love this game so much despite the flaws I have with it. Sure, I do love the other hit games like Unleashed, 3&K, Generations... but Colors was and will always be my favorite Sonic game of all-time (if not my favorite Modern Sonic game) just because it was the first one I played as a kid... and now that it's being REMASTERED... the 9-year old me is screaming for me to get it. Unfortunately, I don't have a Switch or any of the systems it's coming out on, but when I can... you can bet I will take a blast to my past and pick that remastered version up for myself. You can say whatever you want about Sonic Colors... but nothing will change my mind.
Hey I mean colors wasn't my cup of tea personally, but there's something about the games that you played during your childhood that have a certain magic. There are plenty of games on the gamecube, ps1 and 64 that I revere as amazing that some don't care for. So im glad this game could do that for you.
Damn, you hit a really hard, rather accurate mark. Colours was the start to the end, in my opinion - having terrible characterisations, meh stories and so far, nothing has held me. Similar to how I feel about pokemon, it's been sooo long since I've really cared about the games. There's some side projects here and there that are pretty good, but the main series is... hmm.
Colors, Unleashed, and Generations in this order was my childhood games. Also Sonic Adventure sense I played it on my uncle's Ps3, and lost world 3ds. These were my best childhood Sonic games and memories.
I grew up with Sonic Heroes and Sonic X. I never played much of the series but I liked reading the Archie comics and watching the cutscenes of Sonic Adventure and the following games.
@Dank Harvey I think he is talking about the games with good stories and tbh I became a sonic fan after seeing that they have dark and emotional stories
I remember this one cutscene in Sonic Lost world where Sonic and Tails say in unison “Eggman, YOU BITE!!”’ And it was legit the first time I’d ever cringed at Sonic dialogue. I’ve heard every poorly mixed and directed line in SA1 and 2. Every corny quip from Heroes. Every curse in Shadow. Every convoluted monologue in 06. And that was the first line that made me think “I feel embarrassed playing this game, it’s for little kids”
Sonic always been for kids. But then tried to make it for grown ups back in like 2005 and 6 and we all know that went. The sonic your talking about now is more popular and known then he ever was
@@goddessyamato5238 The sonic he's talking about is such a shell of his former self. He used to be cheesy but in an enduring way. Sonic nowadays is an insufferable piece of shit.
@@goddessyamato5238 Sonic is popular but most of that popularity is from how well-known the series is for being bad, which was caused by the direction it's taken recently. Sonic and the supporting cast ARE much worse than they used to be.
@@williamchuba9397 no it’s not. And sonic fans is the reason why outsiders even think it’s bad. So if u wanna say that that’s y’all falut. Sonic fans be straight calling games that’s not even bad trash or horrible games
Funnily enough, Sonic Colors is so far my favorite sonic game released. The music slaps, the jokes (albeit cheesy and forced) are still present and gives something to the games, and also the level designs are GREAT! But hey, to each their own.
@@goddessyamato5238 that isn’t information that you need, but I will say I am older than you based on how you asked that question. I will also say that I am older than 15, that’s all you’ll get outta me.
@@goddessyamato5238 I never said that ever. I just mentioned the cheesy jokes but also said that “Are still present and give something to the games”. I have no complaints for the game at all. And my guy, you just said ‘finna’ 😂.
Ironically enough, Sonic Colours was what made me a real Sonic fan. I had played Heroes first back on the PS2, but my family eventually sold that console and instead we got a Wii. I had a few PC games like Adventure but the laptop I played it on was so bad it could hardly run the game. But one day, I remembered reading about a new Sonic game in a magazine, that being Sonic Colours. It looked really fun and eventually I got it for Christmas. And at the time, it was the best game I had ever played, having my favourite game character have a big game on the console I had at the time, for the first time playing a new Sonic game around its launch. I will always remember that and is why I hold Colours so dear to me.
I know alot of people don't like the dunking on Sonic Forces over and over, but it honestly deserves it. Throughout the years, Sonic Forces has to be the one game that has come the closet to defeating my motivation for this series to be good again. If I hadn't have gone back to visit some of the older games and appreciate all the great things to offer I have no idea where I would be.
The number 1 reason it deserves all the hate: *screen fades to black* Me: Cool! So now we get to see Eggman take over the world right? *white text appears* Me: w-what..? Text: And so, with Sonic defeated, Eggman took over the world….six months later Me: UM EXCUSE ME WHAT!?
Started on the first sonic the hedgehog on genesis. Pretty much discovered it the exact same way except the console was my dad's and outside of the fact that I liked Unleashed from the beginning and still do, your story is pretty much the same as mine. It's only now that I'm starting to really want to take my spare time to learn coding and programming for my own fun. I got into art and animation via Sonic as well and can proudly say that I've gotten quite good over the years. It was actually weird watching this video because most of it sounded like I was listening to myself with very minor differences. Between this and other videos you've made it's crazy how similar our background and approach to the series seems.
That’s really surprising that colors made you leave the series but let me be honest the game that got me into the Series is sonic and the black knight mind you I never played im hopefully going to get for my birthday as well with sonic riders cuz of recently I’ve been having a big sonic overhaul on a lot of stuff I’ve been watching and especially sonic riders I’ve been trying to keep that game fresh in my brain for the past 3 months now
@@1Spring I hope they make a sequel to black knight because if had a remake of black knight with some quality of life in provements like not forced motion controls we could have a revival of a spin off on our hands
You’d be surprised that for as long as I have been a fan of Sonic, I’ve never stopped loving this series, and I’ve loved this series for almost 10 years. I have never faltered from Sonic, and I never will. Sonic will soon be my childhood and I will keep it that way. No matter how terrible the game is, no matter how shit the story plot is, I will NEVER stop loving this blue hedgehog. Try to change my mind, I dare you. Because as long as I have faith in these upcoming Sonic games, I will never step away from this series.
I left after Generations. Not because of the game, though. I loved the game! But my personal life took a bit of a turn, and I was busy with university, so Sonic fell by the wayside. I've been a fan since I watched my older brothers play on the Mega Drive, and when I was old enough to play myself, and my interest skyrocketed after the Adventure games and stayed firm even through stuff like Sonic 06 and Sonic 4 episodes. And I've never disliked Sonic - the series has always kinda been there, even when I've not. I've recently come back to Sonic and I'm trying to catch up on stuff I've missed. Maybe it's an absence makes the heart grow fonder kind of thing, but I enjoyed Forces despite its many flaws. I have issues with it, but at the same time I had fun playing. For me, that's the main thing. If it's fun, I can overlook the issues. I can look at mishandling of characters and not let it taint my love for them. Sonic Team has had a bunch of second chances and they're just gonna keep on coming. This series is always gonna mean a lot to me regardless of where I am in life, and that's why I keep coming back like a damn Knuckles Chaotix character, and I know that's common between a lot of us fans.
I don't remember what was my first Sonic game, but i know i was introduced to it by a friend. I'm not really a Sonic fan (since i like Mario more), but currently my "favorite" Sonic Games are Adventure 1 and 2
I like the Mario Games but I've never found them all that challenging and they've always felt kinda "samey" to me. Sunshine, and maybe Galaxy, are the only times I can think where they took some risks and funnily enough for me, are two of the best games (even though Galaxy was ridiculously easy, Sunshine was more challenging).
Your history with Sonic is very similar to my own! Let's hope that the future of the Sonic series can get that passion back from the early 2000s! In the meantime, keep up the great videos!
I have watched every single one of your videos and they all have made me smile at least once. Please continue making videos, I fucking love watching them.
I stopped at Generations because I was looking at all the memories I had with those Adventure 1/2 stages and I realized that Sonic just wasn't made for me anymore. People liked the new gameplay style, everyone was praising it as the new best Sonic game, but I just didn't like the boost gameplay and even after trying it for three games it never stuck. Seeing them remake stages I loved in a gameplay style I disliked just sent me the message to move on from the games and wait until they released what intrested me.
@@harrygardner7257 his opinion IS valid, the majority just doesn't share it and that's okay, I love generations and I can understand why this guy doesn't :)
I had a big “awwww” moment when you’re talking about finding the Game Gear with Sonic 2 in it. That was my first game ever, too! It was brand new when I got it though 😅. It’s so sweet that we’ve had the same experience, possibly decades apart. Sonic is eternal I guess! 🤷🏻♀️ 😂
I feel sad since Colours was a game I grew up with, along with Unleashed Wii. Now seeing that one of my childhood games having backs turned on it is just saddening.
My first ever Video Game true video game that wasn't a flash game was Sonic Adventure Director's Cut The Last Sonic Game i played was Generations haven't been playing any Sonic games for awhile now
Sonic forces and the fandom made me left, I went to join the anime fandom. But last year I saw this sonic ost, listened to it, and I decided to keep listening to the rest of the ost. I then fell in love with all of the Sonic osts. And then got back into the series, Then I replay all my sonic games
Oddly enough, I like Sonic Colors in spite of its sad excuse for a “story” and the occasional recycling of stage elements. But while I don’t feel it’s the game that signaled the start of Sonic’s downfall, I *can* sense the significant change in tone since Unleashed, so I understand where you’re coming from. As for our origins, I find them closely similar. You started gaming with the Game Gear (bless your soul, you’ve had to consume a LOT of batteries no doubt), whereas I started with the Genesis. We’ve been through it all and seen it all. To me, the Adventure - Unleashed era was the pinnacle of Sonic, in spite of my origin in the classic era. I can only hope the new decade brings a mixture of the best elements of the 2000s and some intriguing new additions.
My introduction to Sonic was roughly similar to yours as was my exit and re-entry, I never owned a dreamcast but my friend did and I came over one day and we played Sonic Adventure, well he played and I watched but it still got me really interested in the series so once a bunch of Sonic games started coming onto the gamecube, a system I did own, I started picking them all up, I got Adventures 1 and 2, mega collection, gems collection, and then Heroes and Shadow, although my opinions on Heroes and Shadow were a bit on the low side, even way back then, the Adventure games had already given me really high standards that those 2 weren't really living up to, I was a huge fan of Riders though so in general I was still really enjoying the series, but yeah then 06 came out and I never played it since I was a nintendo kid with no 360 or PS3 to speak of but I certainly heard the horror stories, what I did play was Secret Rings which I had a LOT of problems with, much more so then with heroes or Shadow, so that combined with what I heard about 06 had left my faith in the series incredibly shaken, I enjoyed Unleashed and Black knight somewhat but like you I really needed a big high to counteract the big lows and the middling success of Unleashed and Black Knight just wasn't cutting it, and then Colors happened, like you I was hoping for something incredibly ambitious but what i got was the opposite, I did pick up Generations when it came out and it was OK but it just made me miss what the series used to be all the more, so at that point I stopped being interested, it wasn't until around Forces and some more people stepping up to say that they don't like the current direction of Sonic that started to reignite my past interest.
It's interesting how we have almost exactly the same history with the Sonic series. I too grew up with the Adventure-era games (plus ports of the Classics). Colors made me lose interest, Lost World felt like a kick in the teeth, and Forces was... yeah, I really dislike how they handled Forces. I didn't buy that one, nor did I play a Sonic game for a while after its release. Finding my old GameCube while moving house and deciding to give SA1/2 another shot has reinstilled my passion for the series. It's like I've remembered why I fell in love with it to begin with. And I'm so glad to see the same is true for others. Love your videos, chaomix! Glad to be a new subscriber :)
This video, even just from your perspective, just shows how the series changed from 2010 and onward. The change in tone and style, all changed because they were ashamed of their past...
Oh man. I started with Sonic 2 at a friends house and I was hooked. For me though, I LOVED the adventure games, and when Sonic Heros came out, it felt like a step backwards in a way, and then after Shadow the hedgehog I pretty much stopped until Generations came out..
I’m honestly *shocked* that you never once bring up Mania. As soon as I heard you say that you played a lot of classic games on collections and that Sonic Forces was as bad as you thought it would be, I was just expecting that to pop up since both games came out around the same time, but you surprisingly didn’t. That’s not to say I’m disappointed about that though, regaining appreciation you has for the games you grew up with made sense, but Mania is just such a *fantastic* comeback story. Not only was it primarily made by people who were just simply fans of the games already with their own creations and forums, but it’s also arguably what saved the Sonic franchise as a whole at the moment. Without Mania, we also wouldn’t have Origins, which is even *more* of a remastered collection of all the main games already from the mobile ports, including Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and will give birth to new generations of Sonic players all over the world. It certainly will for me, I still have never played a single Sonic game yet as a young adult, (Shocking I know) and it doesn’t feel right to play Sonic Mania first since it’s clearly a sequel to Sonic 3 & Knuckles, so I’ve just decided to not play it at all despite buying the whole thing on sale years ago since I knew superior versions existed, and that I didn’t want to just jump straight in with no Sonic 3 to play, and now that wait has paid off. Without Sonic Mania, we wouldn’t have fans pointing out that the first movie Sonic movie model sucked either, and now that it has been fixed, we have even gone as far to have sequels to that as well. Not my cup of tea, but I’m happy for everyone who can actually have a chance to enjoy them. And without Sonic Mania, a lot of Sonic history probably would’ve been forgotten and glossed over too. Nobody even knew what the heck a “Ray the Flying Squirrel” was until that game, and barely anymore knew what a “Mighty the Armadillo” was either, with only a little more awareness simply because of a console game that most people don’t care about called Chaotix for the laughably bad 32X. It’s really surprising to know that the *fans* have saved a once prominent video game franchise for once considering how bad most fandoms can be by now, especially with an all time high of toxicity happening in the late 2000’s to early 2010’s as you mentioned. I still think of the classic series as the definitive version of Sonic in my head whenever that name pops up, and rarely does “modern” Sonic even come to my mind outside of the Adventure games and his appearances in other stuff like Smash Bros., (Which is especially weird since everyone else has their classic appearances except him now) but I still have respect to those who wants to see an Adventure 3 or whatever. I don’t think it’s ever gonna happen since a revitalization for classic Sonic is a miracle in of itself, but I wish the best of luck to those who grew up with and want more of them. Granted I never grew up with classic Sonic either, but to me those games just seem to be a bit more timeless for so,e reason, it’s hard to explain. Proper remasters for games like Adventure would be nice since the DX versions are worse than even the originals, but considering what they have done with Colors Ultimate, I doubt that will happen anytime soon. I’m guessing this is just down to the fact that 2D games are a lot easier to develop for than 3D ones, so if anything, that should make the Adventure games even more impressive considering the times that they came out in, clearly it was no easy or even medium task. That’s not to put the Mania team on a lower pedestal either though since they did it all by themselves and started off with pretty much nothing, so that’s also just as impressive if not more so. The lesson here though is that when the games are good, then they are more than just good and come from pure passion. Maybe we’ll one day have that same type of passion ignited again for stuff like the Adventure series, but for now, I’m just gonna stick with the classics until someone is able to step up to the challenge. Here’s hoping for this brighter future to continue!
I've been a Sonic fan since I was about 7 or so (I'm currently 29). Though I had briefly tried out Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as a toddler, the first Sonic game I owned and fully completed was the original Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure. That game blew my mind and hooked me on the franchise. After that, I played through Sonic 3 & Knuckles, which, in my opinion, is one of the best games in the whole series. Throughout the rest of my childhood and tween years, I mostly played the 2D games but also played Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes. SA2 still remains the last truly great Sonic game as an overall package - SEGA still has yet to make a proper follow-up. The last Sonic game I had bought for the longest time was Sonic Advance 3 in 2004. It would be a good long while before I touched the series again, since all the succeeding games disappointed me in some way. It wouldn't be until Sonic Mania that I would get back into the series. Mania is literally the first Sonic game I've bought since 2004, and, in my opinion, it's the best game since Sonic Adventure 2.
Despite being an unofficial game, ultimate flash sonic was my first exposure to a sonic game and I’ve became interested in the series ever since. The first actual sonic games I’ve played though were the classic and advance games. It was until around 2018-19 I started to stray away from sonic because of how disappointing lost world and forces was.
Funny, for me Ultimate Flash Sonic was my first experience with sonic too, my first official sonic game was Sonic Advance 3 wich i happened to see in a toy store by chance
I'm not going to lie. I started with Colors, loved it, and am excited for the port. I still appreciated listening to your opinions and views, it's always interesting to listen to someone who sees things differently.
Trust me, i get it I did not like the Wisps either, and then they became a staple of the series for a decade. Granted, I was a bit into a lot of the Archie stuff. Both it and the current IBW run really understand that the strength of modern Sonic is in its cast of characters.
I agree with most of the things said in this video. I miss the time when Sonic stories used to try and not just be a boring comedy act throughout all of it's cutscenes. I miss the time when they tried their best to make amazing stages and gameplay that wasn't boost to win along a straight line. I really wish Sonic '06 hadn't caused Sega to abandon the Adventure formula, they need to move on from that game as well as the fans.
You can botch up the future, but you can never erase the good moments of the past. No Sonic Colors or Forces would erase the Adventure games from history.
I love the series just as much as you and I can show you with this, I love EVERY main line sonic games. From the classic no dialogue incredible stories to the exaggerated adventure style stories to the weird and wonderful Sonic ‘06 to the child friends and fun style stories. And the Archie comics, boom Archie comics, IDW comics, I love all these aspects of sonic, from my 8 years here, I never regretted anything. I even find Sonic Forces’ “edgy story” hilarious. Even Colours, Generations and Lost World. Mind you with Boom it’s only the story, and all of Boom Fire and Ice. I will always be here for the Blue Blur.
Sonic Colours is Boomer Hell (no offense to old people). Edit: As an Adventure fan, my time is similar, albeit very different. When I was introduced to the series, Sega had already just exited the console market. Didn't even know the Adventure games were made for the Dreamcast, and always assumed they were Gamecube games until 2010 (I didn't even own a gamecube). When I left the series, I actually left it on a positive note. Because I didn't get around to playing Colours, and Generations was the last one I played before taking a break from the series (and it was a fun game). But I was made very, very aware of the reputation the Sonic series had gained in 2014 after Boom happened. To the point of 'TheGAMERS TM', trying to claim "Sonic never worked in 3D, the stupid characters ruined this series, and the Adventure games were the downfall". Honestly, I was a little worried they would be right...yeah, don't believe everything you read on the internet I guess. XD Embarrassing the current ""AAA"" game industry, those games reminded me of why I even liked video games. Good video.
My story started when me and my siblings were given a Megadrive 2 along with a bunch of games as a hand-me-down for Christmas from our cousin. Loved the Sonic games, especially 3&K. Then after a while I discovered Sonic Advance, and eventually found the games on the Gamecube. Never got to play Shadow or 06, for better or worse, but I followed the stories online to make sure I knew everything I could. I got and played the Stoybook games, and to be honest, when I got Unleashed on the Wii, I thought it was a spiritual successor of the Storybook games, just another spin off because the gameplay was so linear. I played it through to the end, but I was never a fan of the medals or day stages, the night levels at least felt like a platformer. So my story also ends with Colours, except I never even picked it up. When I heard about it my interest was piqued, but one look at it told me it was not a game for me. Generations and Lost World came and went, still the Boost formula I never cared for, and I also was not into the tone each game was going for. I picked up Forces cause I bought into the false promises, and while I felt almost nothing playing it, it did remind me to look back on what I loved about the series. Though even though I love what Sonic used to be, at this rate I can't say I have any hope for his future, at least for as far as I care for it. If the game next year still delivers the same tone, I'm just going to have to give the games the cold shoulder for another decade or so and check back in later to see if they've picked up their game while I'm gone. The series is too dear for me to ever give up on it forever, but it's also too dear to me to keep an eye on it in such a state.
You do know Sonic isn't that serious. No that doesn't mean Sonic is made for Kids. Sonic was never made for Story, it has a Story, but thats not the entire point of Sonic. It was all about Speed, and World Building, not The Story. The Story is apart of the Characters, not The Main Thing. Sonic, despite having a lot of tones and different genres, have their unique premise, and gameplay. Sonic 06, despite being Terrible or Tried to be a Good Game, was realistic. Sonic Colors, despite being Awesome, or ruined Sonic, was Interstellar. And Sonic Adventure, despite being Amazing, or Hated, was an Anime. And Sonic The Hedgehog 1991, was Cartoony, while Sonic Riders, was a Sports Title. SONIC FANS! Stop Being A Toxic Entitled Fanboy, Be Your Own Sonic Fan, don't be a yesmen, be who you are, and don't have the same opinion, that equels equality, which isn't good, you need to be your identity, come up with your own opinions. You can say you think Adventure 2 is Ok, You can Say Team Sonic Racing was a lot of Fun, You can say Sonic Riders Sucks, You can say Sonic Generations was Cool, Long Story Short, just have your own opinions instead of having the same opinion as someone who makes a video about Sonic Fans discussing the same exact opinions over & over again. Wait a Minute, I just realized. That's what's happening between not just the Fanbase, but also our personal lives. Since Sonic The Hedgehog always changes with each game and it's tone on each game, all of us have been interpreated all Sonic Games to have The Same Tone, When in reality All of them aren't in the same tone. Unleashed compared to Black Knight, isn't in the same tone and artstyle, Unleashed was more Grusome, while Black Knight was more Epic. And Colors and Lost World don't even have the same artstyle and tone, Colors was more similar to a Family Film that was made for all audiences, while Lost World was a Standard Kids Movie intended for Kids. Translators and Directors Aside, None of the Sonic Games from Different Decades, from the Early Mid and Late Decade have the Same Style and Tone, they all have unique styles and tones to fit their gameplay and genre. But many Sonic Fans think and believe, that all the Sonic Games from Early Mid and Late Decades have the Same Style and Tone. Say if you were a Sonic Fan who Likes Sonic Boom The Animated Series because of the Comedy, and you expressed your thoughts on the cartoon, then another Sonic Fan who Dislikes Sonic Boom, says the exact opposite. They All have Unique Ideals, but the problem is isn't the fact that they are wrong or stupid, the problem with it is that All Of The Sonic Fans, whether you like some or not!, All Have The Same Opinion when another team agrees with Someone who likes or dislikes the Game. Guys, I may sound like a Hermit, and yeah sure this probably doesn't make any sense, but if you think about it, really closely (and I mean Really Closely), then All of Us Sonic Fans, including myself, aren't unique in our way. 😨
I Hear Ya Homes. You may be onto something, but you forgot one thing... Sigh... Whenever Someone says Blank Game is Good, and Someone says Blank Game is Bad. Its not because all of us have the same opinion, its because most of us have been mistaking Opinion, for Fact. As a Former Sonic Fan, I have had a similar realization before, but I realize that I can have my own opinion on it, despite Most of the Sonic Games are either good or bad. I used to think Sonic Adventure was Amazing, but since 2020, I now think Sonic Adventure is Bad, it's not that Im not a Sonic Fan, Its just my own opinion. However, The Rest mostly just think its a Fact. When the Games you mentioned were first released, it was generally praised, then when Sonic 06 happened, it changes everyone's minds about Sonic, and believed that Sonic The Hedgehog is a Bad Franchise, despite having attempts to please everyone about Sonic The Hedgehog again only to fail. That is until Colors Happened, and every Sonic Fan says Colors until Lost World created a new era that is like the Disney Renascense except it's Sonic The Hedgehog, and then 2016 happened, and we got excited for two New Sonic Game that is coming out a year later, and both were good and bad by Fans. And then we Sonic Fans blown our minds over Colors. We're more like a running battery, we like the old games, but we don't like the new games, For Me, It was me liking Sonic Colors, and disliking Sonic Forces, for Every Non Sonic Fan following Sonic 06, they loved the Genesis Games, and hates The Rest of the Sonic Games Moving Forward, and for the context of this video, for Chaomix, he Appreciated some games from the Late 2000s Sonic Games, and Dislikes most of the Early To Mid 2010s Sonic Games. I can't agree with you, but that doesn't mean I can disagree with you. Not going to attack you, I just hope you'd understand coming from my point of view.
The game that got me into sonic was "Mario and Sonic at the winter Olympic games (2010 DS)". Although it didn't feature any of the usual gameplay associated with the series, I found the world-building and character design intriguing. SA2 was the first "proper" sonic game I played though.
Same story here, although I had the wii version of "Mario and Sonic at the winter Olympics (2010)". That was the game that introduced me to the Sonic series. Didn't have any other Sonic games though, but I was introduced to Sonic X not too long after that. Since I didn't have any other console to play games on (I grew up a computer game girl so think online games and/or games on CDs), I ended up looking for Sonic content on UA-cam. Since then I discovered the Sonic wiki, as well as wikis for my other favorite franchises, and started writing some stories of my own. Recently started posting my work after a few years of writing for myself, although there's only one story on profile so far. Side note: look up Kitty Rose The Writer on Fanfiction.net if you're interested. Anyway, "Mario and Sonic at the winter Olympics (2010)" was the game that first exposed me to Sonic, and from there I was introduced to other fandoms as well as Sonic. That's pretty much my story.
This was a cool watch, man! We have the exact same history with sonic to the T with the exception of making content! I’m 28 so actually started with Sonic Adventure 1 on Dreamcast, then from there game cube and feel the exact same way about the newer games. It was after falling in love with Sonic Adventure 1&2 that I went back and played the old games. I’ve lost faith in the series and don’t see them making an adventure like sequel sadly
Actually Colors was the game that saved the series. Despite, '06 and Secret Rings' success the series was doomed already. Colors blasted in and saved the day.
I’ve never left the franchise. I HAVE however, taken long breaks from seeing news and updates because learning about all the negativity and nit picky stuff from the fans, weither justified or not, REALLY stresses me out.
People have always compared Mario to Sonic. They said "Sonic should be a cartoony characters with simple stories, its shouldn't take itself seriously" . Colors was made for Mario or Nintendo fans.
Sonic unleash was the game that ended for me. I was intrigued at first but once i saw the gameplay and story i lost interest. The boost games are decent for what they are but i prefer the adventure games although i started with the first sonic for sega genesis in the 90s.
"Sonic generation released without me even realizing." Literally me with EVERYTHING after Unleashed with the exclusion of Black Knight because the general asthetic grabbed me, really need to grab a copy of that some day.
@@GraveUypo Black Knight is pretty good imo, great story, massive improvement in controls over Secret Rings, decent gameplay. Just wondering, what made you dislike it?
Sonic Colors introduced me to the series, looking back at it, the story and characters... they were literal shit, but the gameplay, visuals, level designs, and music. Those parts clicked perfectly for me, yes it didn't have a good story, yes it was made for kids, but i enjoyed the parts that made that game good.
I never understood why leave a series, if you want to play a new game, then just play, I don't think there is a reason to leave something as if it were religion
This video really resonated with me. My first sonic game was SA2:B when I was around 6 or 7. My cousins had it and I became obsessed with it. I not very good at video games (and I’m still not, lol) but I loved watching them play through the story. Most of my early memories with actually playing the game come from the chao garden and two player mode. Eventually I got the game for myself and the rest is history. I still have the same game file from the first time I completed the game on my own. It’s still my favorite sonic game and my favorite game of all time in general. I kept up with the series but no other game has ever reached the heights of SA2 in my eyes. And like you, I reached a point where I realized that the series just might not be meant for me anymore. For me it was the advent of the boost formula and the “no characters, only Sonic” focus. I love the adventure games because of the characters, multiple play styles and the story, so streamlining things so much really lost me. I enjoyed Unleashed, (but didn’t finish it either) Colors, and Generations, but fell off after that. With the positive reception of Colors and Generations, the series looked like it was on a good path, but it wasn’t a path I cared to go down anymore. Games like Lost World and Forces reinforced my decision to stay away as things veered off course and went into dumpster fire territory. But funnily enough, my fandom has been reignited a bit because of UA-cam channels like this that remind me of why I liked the series in the first place. I may not enjoy where SEGA’s taken the series, but I’ll always love where it’s been.
So I never got invested in the Sonic series until now. Although the first Sonic game I played was a Sonic racing game on the Wii like 7 years ago, closest I ever got to getting into Sonic since then was when I got access to the internet (2016 or 2015) and discovered creepypastas. Bet you already know, but it was the Sonic.exe creepypasta, and I was super scared back then. After I got out of my little Sonic.exe phase Sonic kinda just became a fading memory for me. Now these past two months I've gotten invested into the series, watching Sonic icebergs, and watching snapcubes fandubs just sorta brought me into the Sonic series. But of course this all came full circle, which is why I mentioned Sonic.exe, the Sonic.exe FnF mod is the sole reason why I got into sonic in the first place. After listening to the music of the mod, I was getting recommended Sonic UA-cam videos, and of course my curiosity lead me to watch them. Until last Saturday (Mar 12, 2022) I spent 108 dollars at game stop on three (technically 5) games. Those being Paper Mario Origami King, Sonic Mania + Sonic Racing, and Sonic Forces + Monkey Ball. I know sonic forces isn't the best sonic game, but I mean it was right next to sonic mania and I kinda just enjoy playing lots of games no matter if its good or bad. 2 days later, and I'm in love with Sonic Mania. its a great game honestly, although all those games are for the switch, don't know what all is different from the original Sonic Mania, but still the animations are so vibrant and full of life. Haven't even played any of the other games yet, but I don't care, Mania is awesome. I really just typed a whole essay explaining how I just got into Sonic. Spent nearly 20 minutes typing this up and like 2 people are gonna read it lol.
I honestly never left the sonic series. Belive it or not, I actually love all and I repeat, ALL sonic games. No matter spin-offs, or main games. Sonic has been my favorite video game franchise of all time. The community says that sonic forces is garbage, but in my opinion, I think its great with the music, characters, and yes, even the game play. I have played sonic forces for roughly 70 hours on my Nintendo Switch. I never left the series due to a bad game. I don't care if its a bad game. I enjoy it alot. And since I've finished sonic colors recently, I am proud to say that it gets a 2nd place is my person favorite sonic games. I also play other games like Mario. Ive recently finished Mario odyessey. But if ive gotta be honest, I like forces more than odyessey despite the flaws the community says about it. I started with sonic 1 for mobile phones and still going strong. I am extremely hyped for the next sonic game and I hope you are too. I was, and will always be a sonic fan. No matter what.
Finally, someone who nailed it down. Colors was the last one for me as well for a long time, word for word experienced the same feelings with the series seeing all the new titles. I tried forces out and thought it was lame, knew it wasn't going to be how they hyped it up as. Maybe it is an age thing, but I can't get it out of my head how good the series was during the adventure era, and how bland and childish it is now.
My mom never makes promises bc she doesn't wanna accidently break them and hurt someone. So my mom has only ever made one promise to me in my entire life and that was to buy me Shadow The Hedgehog for me when it came out in 2005 And i find that funny
I honestly quit around Sonic 06. I was at a sorta natural low interest point after having felt like Heroes and Shadow were just okay, but I was still planning to buy 06, just maybe not on release. And then the reviews came out, and I realized it probably wasn't worth it to get it. I kinda sorta lightly followed Sonic news after that, but the only games I have played since then were Generations and Mania (both of which I love deeply and have a decent number of hours on by working adult standards). The recent announcements have kinda caught my eye and recently I've been watching more Sonic related content on UA-cam. I have this feeling good things are coming our way. I really hope the next game can pull me back in, along with all the other lost fans.
Hi everyone! In the comments let me know where your personal start with the Sonic series was! What was your first game? Did you ever quit the series at any point? What are your opinions on the current state of the series?
Sonic colours was the first game that introduced me
My first game was Sonic Heroes.
Maybe I'll one day emulate rise of lyric to see if I'll enjoy that one as well 😅
The only sonic games I don't like are sonic blast, sonic 3d blast, sonic spinball and sonic labyrinth. But even in those I can appreciate something like the music, visuals or unique gameplay.
Sonic forces was disappointing but I enjoyed it for the most part, especially the avatar.
Actually I became a Sonic fan after the movie, then I bought Unleashed and I loved it :D
first game? sonic adventure 2 battle!
Sometimes I wonder what the alternate timeline where Sonic 06 had no issues during its development, lived up to all its promises and went down as one of the greatest games of all time is like.
We would have an adventure 7 at this point
Kinda hurts knowing 06 is the closest we will get to an adventure 3
Project 06 exists. We’re in that timeline
Here's someone playing through what ChaosX has completed so far: ua-cam.com/video/THnuV5oBgpA/v-deo.html
Here's the game release video and download by ChaosX: ua-cam.com/video/q8lUisWw0Z4/v-deo.html
That’s kinda sad cuz sonic colors is what got me into the series and it’s what got you out of the series
YOOO SonicDavid how the hell do you have no comments and barely any likes?!

I didn't know about the mod. Thanks :)
can you send a link to.that mod??
Here’s the link, in case you’re curious. Haven’t tried it yet, but from reading the description, I’m definitely excited. This might fix Colors for me!

What a brilliant name for that mod, lol.
Lol
I was born in 2001 and was lucky enough to grow up with the Classic, Adventure, and Dark Age simultaneously. The closest the series has gotten to disillusioning me was Forces, it was the only Sonic game I have ever refused to pay for and the first one I had major concerns with prerelease.
you pirated sonic forces?
@@lowqualityvideos8091 Nah, I played it at a friend's house lol
I liked Sonic Forces but not on Switch cuz that version sucked
I got into the Sonic games with SA2, quit the games after Generations. I just got frustrated with Sonic being the only character playable and seeing my favorites like Knuckles, Amy etc become spineless cheerleaders who can’t do anything for themselves.
I find that hella funny cause I thought the only good parts of SA 2 was sonic and shadow I fucking hated having to play as the other characters lol

@Fluppie I'm guessing it was either the prison or the space planet stage?
@TNT

I really not come up with live and learn its not a sense at all i have better about open your heart because sonic have more passion on sa1 and may have loneliness but anyway i hate shadow the hedgehog because he's not pretty and getting his face so terrible fuck himself he cant even have a friend for his life maria isn't a all life for shadow because she's not a hedgehog and he should make her alive or make a new relationship with a hedgehog this makes a good hope for fanbases . . .

Damn, you hit a really hard, rather accurate mark. Colours was the start to the end, in my opinion - having terrible characterisations, meh stories and so far, nothing has held me. Similar to how I feel about pokemon, it's been sooo long since I've really cared about the games. There's some side projects here and there that are pretty good, but the main series is... hmm.

I’m glad to see that Colours was the final nail in the coffin for other people too. I had quit at Colours too, though my reason was the VA change.
I need a comprehensive video of Sonic Rush Adventure from you *now*
epic
I'm not going to lie. I started with Colors, loved it, and am excited for the port. I still appreciated listening to your opinions and views, it's always interesting to listen to someone who sees things differently.
Trust me, i get it
I did not like the Wisps either, and then they became a staple of the series for a decade.
Unleashed is also good
I love the series just as much as you and I can show you with this, I love EVERY main line sonic games.
Edit:
As an Adventure fan, my time is similar, albeit very different.
XD
Embarrassing the current ""AAA"" game industry, those games reminded me of why I even liked video games.
Good video.
All that I remember was running back and forth across the big white screen in sonic generations when I was younger.
I can't believe it, Every Sonic Fan have the same opinion regardless of they like it or dislike it.
Actually same, along with playing Sonic Heros at the doctors office or something got me into it
Same story here, although I had the wii version of "Mario and Sonic at the winter Olympics (2010)".
Its ironic how your takes on Sonic's high and low era''s are the exact oposite of mine!
mine too. i mean, i guess. i didn't watch the entire video.
did he even play the genesis games?
@@GraveUypo He did, he even talked about them his first game even was Sonic 2 on the Game Gear/Master System
@@GraveUypo He did! He got into it later and felt it was equally as good as the adventure games but in a very diffrent way!
Another day, another "hot" take on Colors.
I wished he played the Rush series it probably would’ve saved him the heart ache just a tad.
I’m gonna be hones I was done with Sonic then I played adventure 2 and found your channel and now I’m in love with the series again
People have always compared Mario to Sonic. They said "Sonic should be a cartoony characters with simple stories, its shouldn't take itself seriously" . Colors was made for Mario or Nintendo fans.
I'm in that stereotype, not because of Mario but because of the Genesis games, not a fan of the edgier stuff I guess.
If you have a decent PC, you can always play it on Dolphin.
@@chrisdelgado4621 unfortunately I do not, I have a 10 year old craptop that barely operates, but I do have a Wii.
well you clearly have poor taste so you might like it but...
it's probably the worst sonic game ever. it's that bad.
@@GraveUypo Secret Rings and Free Riders would like a word with you.
@@GraveUypo Black Knight is pretty good imo, great story, massive improvement in controls over Secret Rings, decent gameplay. Just wondering, what made you dislike it?
This video is Chaomix Generations
Is the thumbnail supposed to be based on when Goku sacrificed himself to Cell by getting blown up by him?
Sonic Colors introduced me to the series, looking back at it, the story and characters... they were literal shit, but the gameplay, visuals, level designs, and music. Those parts clicked perfectly for me, yes it didn't have a good story, yes it was made for kids, but i enjoyed the parts that made that game good.
I never understood why leave a series, if you want to play a new game, then just play, I don't think there is a reason to leave something as if it were religion
Sonic Colors and Sonic Lost World are great. No glitches and great level design making all of Sonic’s mechanics meaningful.
I can respect that line of thought, but personally I'd rather a hot mess that went all out than a safe entry that carried flag
0:28 "I'm not a rat... I'm a hedgehog!"
Same.
Sonic was ruined since 2010 ever sibce they got them mandates

My mom never makes promises bc she doesn't wanna accidently break them and hurt someone.
So my mom has only ever made one promise to me in my entire life and that was to buy me Shadow The Hedgehog for me when it came out in 2005
And i find that funny
