I know this vid is super old but the settings on the description *worked!* Been dying to replay this series and figured I'd have time now with this quarantine but my PS2 was not at my place. So glad it worked.
One of the best games ever created... This was a time when developers had ambitions to create innovative RPG's, with many excited fans to witness and enjoy... not like today, where it's all based on microtransactions and online BS... This was definitely one of my favorites.. Not sure if I ever finished it though..
A store. If you're talking about getting it on my PC; I put the game into my PC's DVD drive and used ImgBurn (most other software doesn't seem to handle dual-layer DVDs very well) to make an .iso from it.
It's an issue with specific save points (mostly early in the game). There's not much you can do about it except use a save state before trying to utilize any save point, that way you have something to fall back on If the game boots you out.
+Nintendojoe Xenosaga was actually very popular among hard cord fans of the Xeno franchise. In fact Xenogears (the first game in the franchise) was supposed to be the original Final Fantasy 7, but didnt get that title because they were told it had too dark a storyline. Also as a long-time fan of the Xeno franchise (ive played all the games and have been playing them since i was about 5 years old) I have to say that Xenoblade is my least favorite in the series. It had a much more predictable storyline and was not NEARLY as dark or weird as its predecessors. I should blame nintendo for it, but in reality i blame the production company because it seems as soon as the co-creator/writer was pushed out of the company that it all went to shit. And by "went to shit" I meant instead of soylent green, mutilation of innocent people, and literally killing a little boys dad only to tell him later about it you have "ill make you pay for what you did to the emperor!" cliches.
I need help PLS!!! I need to download the image (i dont know here) so i can install it on my HDLAODER, for that im gonna use the ripkit (3xdvd5) i already have it, but where can i get the image of the game OR the already 3dvd5 images?? thx!!
Try using ImgBurn to create your ISO, it seems to handle dual-layer DVD's better than a lot of other software. If that doesn't work, I'd recommend making a topic on the official PCSX2 forums, since there's a lot of people there who are far more knowledgeable than me about this sort of thing.
I`m having a major problem with this game, I can`t extract it, just says file is broken, i`ve downloaded it from 3 different sites and still same problem what is wrong.
Thank you for your setting, they really helped me out, however I have a problem, the game runs fine and it looks great on full widescreen, but for some reason the cutscenes of the game (the actual CG cutscenes, because the in-game cutscenes run fine) go back to the format of 4:3 instead of 16:9, I know there is a way to fix it, but I can't seem to find it, I appreciate any help if you can.
Hi. Would you mind posting a tutorial video on how you configure your PCSX2? Cuz I'm playing Xenosaga 1 on PCSX2 and my graphics are nowhere near yours. My specs are i5-2500k @4.5GHz GTX 770 lightning 8GB RAM Windows 8 64bit Thanks..
Well, that's the best you'll get out of an actual PS2 (and it'll look way better than the usual yellow composite cable), but won't look quite as smooth as it does on PCSX2, since it's still only 480p with no anti-aliasing.
Hello I Have i3 3.10 Ghz Nvidia 960 I always have 56 - 60 FPS never drops more than that... but somethings the game slow down a lot, you can hear the audio fine but the videos go very slow.. Again everything with 56 - 60 FPS... It's becouse mi processor?
Do you have issues during some of the video sections? The game looks great for me during the actual gameplay (4x internal), as well as most of the video parts, but during some videos it will switch to this hideous mode that looks like it's running at 320x240.
How'd you get this to work? I try to start the emulator with Xenosaga Episode 1's iso and it crashes before even reaching the start screen. Could that be caused by a bad Iso?
The shadows still look like ball-joint mannequins... Is there anything that can be done about that? Really just needs to blend all the shadow into one solider color outline, but it outlines every individual segment of the body
No you can't. There is a way to get rid of the shadows though, which really doesn't impact the game since some games didn't have shadows of characters lol.
I'm curious. Are you able to get the pre-rendered cutscenes to display in fullscreen? To clarify, the game runs fullscreen with the widescreen hack enables, but the pre-rendered scenes revert to 4:3 regardless of plugin or setting for me(with black bars on the sides). Not a game killer, but it sure would be nice to have complete 16:9 uniformity. Thanks for posting your config!
Kinda curious, are there any actual mods for this? I've googled and searched, but after 4 minutes, I still can't find any. That last part was a joke though.
Whenever I attempt to start a new game, no scenes are played, I get a black screen with the radar system, I can move the red arrow with the directional buttons but other than that, zilch. What did I do wrong?
So far every emulator i have used or seen has caused problems to most computers, does the one your using for this cause any problems and if not then which one do i get, i wish to try and stream/record this. A quick reply would be great.
ChibiNinya Are you downloading from sketchy sites or something? I've used emulators for PS1, PS2, GC/Wii, N64, GBA, DS, PSP, and Dreamcast and haven't had any problems thus far. Anyways, PCSX2 is fine, just make sure you get it from the official site (pcsx2.net), not from some 3rd party who's probably bundled a bunch of crap in with it.
Texture Filtering should be half-checked by default, which causes it to only smooth the textures on 3D objects, but won't touch 2D stuff like text/menus/the HUD. Having it full-checked will make it smooth the 2D stuff, as well (it might produce some additional artifacts here and there).
Under HW hacks, check "Alpha Hack" (if using Direct3D10/11) or set "Skipdraw" to 1 (works with both Direct3D9 and 10/11, but removes Shion's shadow entirely).
GGnSWolfie In your video you still retain the shadows though. I don't want to completely remove the shadows I just want them like how you have them in your video.

Holy crap this looks nice. I'm looking at another screen where it's running on PS2 and it looks like crap compared to this. Rebought a PS2 recently because I couldn't even get Xenosaga to load with PCSX2. I have a pretty good computer so now sure why it won't work. Tried both from iso and from the real disc. =/
What are your PC specs? I gave my PS2 away some time ago so started fiddling around with PCSX2 since I got the Xenosaga itch. I was not able to get it to run from the disc. It would not load for some reason. I was able to burn an img of my disc with imgBurn and that did work.
Lol, found em; but equipping these options on Xenosaga dropped my 50 fps to ....5 Back to default settings to see what I can do :l Mines playing fine on default; except when it comes to scenes where it is both showing a 3D character and that character is talking. In those scenes their voices become drawn out and it takes them twice as long as it should to finish a sentence; if I can get this to be fixed itll play fine :l

"One of the best games ever created [...] one of my favorites [...] I never finished it." Must have been kind of tedious in the long run?
I really like the sound design of this game, never played it though.

ive only played the wii version, but i have an unopened copy at my step moms, but theres a crack... still dont want to open it
I loved this game! I would spend a lot of time grinding in the first area before moving on (one of the few areas that offered money I believe.)
Laptop specs?
Xenosaga's pretty demanding; I'd imagine most laptop CPU's would have a hard time maintaining full speed at all times.
“That bastard! He fired up the emulators!”
ahh...if only the rest of the Xenosaga series stuck with the Gears-like gameplay. that was a good system.
Oh how I remember playing this game 😭
Wish they would remaster the trilogy! I remember when it was planned to be 6 games! Still one of my favorites
There are 6 games if you count xc, xcx and xc2 (in which kos-mos and t-elos are present!) ;P

A lot of the cutscenes are prerendered FMVs, which you can't really improve the visuals on.
GGnSWolfie Thanks. I guess that's pretty much the single downfall of making the rest of the game look fantastic.
