Ps1 was the golden era of jrpg. So many unique and fun games. FF8 was my first FF game and my first taste of jrpgs. It was the reason i got a ps1 instead of a n64, and boy was it the right choice. What followed was lots of rpgs; Breath of fire, Grandia, Legend of Legaia.... the list goes on. Fond memories

@@PuffZombieI feel the PS1 had more all time classics where the PS2 may have had more JRPGs but I feel a lot of them were just good by comparison but not incredible but that's just my opinion :D
The PS1 nostalgia is real. FF7 is my all time favorite but probably not for the same reason as most people. My dad got me a PlayStation with a bunch of games when we could finally afford our own house and I’ll always remember him telling me it was important to him because his parents could never afford to. FF7 was one of those games. I tried playing it and just couldn’t figure it out so I played mostly just racing and fighting games. Then my dad start playing my PlayStation when I wasn’t home because he worked night shifts and he couldn’t get enough of FF7. I would watch him play and ask about it then he taught me how to play it and from that point on I was a JRPG lover. I always looked for other JRPGs but one thing was always certain. Depending on if it was closer to Christmas or my birthday my dad would always get me the new final fantasy that came out.
@@eatthewoke5170 yeah I lost interest once they went full action rpg. They use to be the company that always innovated turn based RPGs. Now their games feel like all the others with better graphics and a final fantasy paint job.
The fact that you even have 50 JRPGs in one list on one console is insane. This explains easily why the PS1 is my favorite console of all time to this date.
The only thing I hated about Xenogears was the random Encounters every two steps LOL .my friends and I made fun of that back in the day like we would announce" hey man Im going to the fridge" take two steps and we would all start singing the battle music XD

Can't agree more that FFVIII does deserve and needs a remake on the level of FF7R, in the sense that it needs elevation. I always had the impression that it was a rushed game with many unanswered questions regarding world building. Great game with great characters
I love to see when people show respect to FF8. My first ever JRPG was Chrono Cross (became my all time favourite) and my second ever JRPG was FF8. It blew me away with its graphics, summons, special attacks, the whole world was so unique and I LOVED the junction system as well. ( Drawing was a bit tedious but it did not take anything away of the experience) I found out later that you can glitch the junctions but I never do it, just use it as it was intended. All those cool FMV cutscenes, the characters, and oh my god the music, that opening cinematic. I am literally in tears thinking back on that game. FF8 will forever be in my heart, it is one of the best games I have ever played as a kid.
Love the list. One thing I'd like to add is if it is not too much trouble could you consider adding timestamps for each game in your list? It makes seeing specific games a lot easier.
I love how Legend of Legaia is a dark fantasy after the BBEG has already caused the collapse of everything and his minions are going around and systematically destroying pockets of survivors.

This is true. I would not love rpgs today if not for these jrpgs. I would still want to play these games on ps1 over any latest console. Suikoden II is forever my favorite and I will still replay it. ❤
It is SO redeeming to see my favorite game FINALLY mentioned in a "Greatest RPG of Blah Blah" (Legend of Legaia). I think with just a few modern tweaks it would be marketable on today's consoles (remade, of course, with better artwork and whatnot,) but I will cherish it on my PSX/2 until it finally gets the remake it deserves.
Suikoden 1&2 have a special place in my heart, I got it randomly from a friend that didn’t like it, and I fell in love, so much that I bought 2 on release day, these and the BoF series are timeless to me. PS, I still own both Suikodens on disc

A bit fun fact for why Tales of Eternia became Tales of Destiny II in the US was because the word 'Eternia' already been used by *Mattel* for *He-Man / Master of the Universe* franchise. Namco doesn't want any legal issues with Mattel or confusing promotion so they choose Destiny II for Eternia, which ironicly confused many Tales of fans when Namco decided to make the real Destiny II. Please! Help me find a game! I remember the game from childhood, the genre was JRPG, it was in Japanese, little known. I lost the disc (From memory, I remember the following moments in fragments, because I played at 9-10 years old: The game has a top view, real time control 1. Protagonist - a guy, several times the control went for other characters. 2. The game starts in the laboratory, there is a battle with a couple of enemies as I remember. The second location is a ruined modern city. At the end is the boss. 3. I remember a beach, a forest, a desert, space (hard mission on a spaceship), then a shipwreck. 4. Boss fight, 3v1, in the forest. 5. Laboratory, some secret base of scientists. 6. Desperate search for a certain girl, who by the end of the level was injured (in my opinion on the beach) 6. Constant battles with robots, and Protagonist has his own robot. Ship battles in space were also done in the traditional JRPG style, turn-based. 7. Locations were loaded during transitions. 8. The atmosphere of the game is quite depressing and gloomy. It's not Xenogears!

what is the background music on arc the lad review? thx
hey erick have you played popolocrois on PS1? it already have english patch you might like it and it was different unlike PSP version which is mash up of two popolocrois 1 & 2 on PS1 but poporogue was not included instead added new scenario.
PS1 might be the best system for JRPGs ever. How far Sony has fallen, no good exclusive JRPGs or really many good games at all. Woke too 😑
What is this brain rot? Square games were always "woke"
@@jplayer073 Historical revisionism is pathetic, and I love the subtle coping and seething by putting the word woke in scare quotes lmao
I can't forget thousand arms
Brave fencer musashi is such a banger
There is a Game where you fight againts a Octopus boss in a water well
Wait, was bof3 was not mentioned or did i just missed it? I think it's even better than 4 aside form graphics. Felt like a real adventure.

Man of culture 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Please! Help me find a game!
I remember the game from childhood, the genre was JRPG, it was in Japanese, little known. I lost the disc (From memory, I remember the following moments in fragments, because I played at 9-10 years old:
The game has a top view, real time control
6. Desperate search for a certain girl, who by the end of the level was injured (in my opinion on the beach)
6. Constant battles with robots, and Protagonist has his own robot. Ship battles in space were also done in the traditional JRPG style, turn-based.
7. Locations were loaded during transitions.
8. The atmosphere of the game is quite depressing and gloomy.
It's not Xenogears!
Maybe it was xenosaga

Legend of legaia ever
Ff9 the best
FF8 but each FF in PS1 is top tier
I actually liked ff8 the best. But I will say all of the FF games for ps1 are fantastic. The ps1 had the best of these games period. The true golden era for the turn based rpg. How I miss it
@@wadedewell you re the man

One good game is missing called monsterseed. I think its underrated and not very popular for people to notice
