Remember the first time you heard the opening chords to "Smells Like Teen Spirit"? Then the feeling you got instantly every time you heard it after that for a while? And now you hear "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and you kinda sigh, because you think of how cool that was, what it spawned and how bad it ended? Remember the first time you heard the opening chords to "Possum Kingdom"? Then the feeling you got instantly every time you heard it after that....never lost that feeling.
Possum is way cooler and better than that generic song smells like teen spirit. I'm saying this as a huge Nirvana fan, too. Even Nirvana admitted that they hated playing that song lol. It even got to the point where they would play the intro and then completely stop and go on to play next song and they would say we're going to skip that song and the crowd would get upset. Check them out performing teen spirit in Buenos Aires 92.
These guys didn't get enough love back in the day and they rock. This one definately goes down in history as a classic! Wherever you guys are now, I hope you are still rocking hard.
First time I’ve ever seen a guitarist I like playing an L6-S. I had one for years, didn’t think it was all that cool (looks-wise, as well as reputation). But I liked the sound. Sold it when I needed the cash. Now seeing it in the Toadies… I think maybe it’s cool?
the verse is in 7/4 for a measure, then two measures of 4/4 (or 1x 8/4, which is a bit awkward to notate - just adding on one extra beat every other measure). The bridge ("Give it up to me...") is in 6/4 for two measures, then two measures of 4/4. The solo/break ("Be my angel...") is a bar of 7/4 then 2 bars of 4/4 again.
