Seeing a full steel bodied car with glass and that brick shape moving like that is insane. Love it.

The quickest we've logged to 100 is 1.75s but it's the 100-200 where the really fast cars shine doing less than 2.5s 😳🤙
@@fullboost the big thing in the TT lambo world and the 1000+ street guys overseas is 60mph-130mph a 1400hp lambo or Audi is around 3.2 it’s mind boggling

Given the fact that turbos basically double the engine size we are looking at a 7.2 litre engine so yeah, this is comparable to a Na 7.2 v8. This is why 481ci big blocks with boost make 4-5k hp. I do wish we wouldve gotten the barra in the States here. They are just the best ford 6 ever!!

Grahame, these old falcons are not as heavy as you think. No air bags, pading, side intrusion bars and all the other stuff that makes modern cars safe. A 2021 Corolla probably tips the scales close to an original XW. What the Falcon has is a long wheel base and RWD. Areo is probably the biggest issue in this package. But it it looks just so great

W2a ic is the way to go. Amazing that more people dont do this.
has to be setup and sized correctly, or youll run into cooling issues. A2A is a no brainer, slap it on and go nuts.. that and its cheaper, packaged better etc
I am trying to get an interchiller on my car. Massive temp drops, more power less boost.
@@nismofreak33 sure, I have the largest a2a ic that will fit in my Turbo Barra FG without cutting. But... the lure of very short inlet tracts, and low internal volume = fast throttle repsonse. Yup, 800hp is ok, but I want even faster spool response.
A big w2a heat exchanger can easily fit where the current ic is. And, I think I can mount the a2w ic diretly above the valve cover - this will give a very short inlet tract.
I am impressed by the big power turbo jetskis that have very good throttle response due to very compact a2w heat exchangers and tiny cold side volume.
What song was used in the beginning? Almost as good as the music of the Barra!

I remember the first time I ever went to the drags 45 years ago everyone was wowed by a 392 Hemi altered that was IIRC about a full second slower than this. If only you could take the XY back in time... Unbelievable performance for a street car.
Very true, huh! What a world we live in in terms of our ability to make hp in street cars... I remember back in like 2000 or 2001 there was this 3rd gen Camaro getting around the show scene doing dyno runs, with the plates 1000hp. It wasn't a lie, it was making mid 800's at the wheels or there abouts- but it was so mind blowing at the time. 1000hp at the crank in a street car was really something back then, now there's bloody street Evo's and turbo old B series Honda's making over 1000 AT THE WHEELS! I tell ya, I'll cut my own nuts off before I ever own am electric car
I was a V8 guy my whole life. I loved my HP the proper way; big cubes and big RPM or blowers was the only way in my mind... I've built and owned many high strung N/A V8 manual cars over the years, especially being in the trade... Then I bought an old R31 Skyline with a turbo and auto cheap off a mate one day with the intention of keeping it fairly stock and it be used as a daily... That didn't last long, it became so easy to make power with boost that I've never looked back... The couple of early Commodores of mine are now waiting for boosted motors to be done to turbo them too... 😂 They're put away, patiently waiting their time... I couldn't keep driving them the way they were, even early days with the R31 it was faster than the big $ manual V8's with very little effort... I would have been happy with 10 sec time slips at one point with them, not any more... 🤦😁
I'm in my late 40s and I remember when I was a kid Top Alcohol funny cars were running 6 second passes. Frank Marchese is now running in the 6s with his steel body, street registered, leaf spring rear end, SBF powered XW Falcon. It's insane to think about.

its a new electronic wastegate that we were playing around with for the 1st time we ran out of time to trial it on a dyno before hand or anything. We found for some reason it wasn't holding the boost 100% opening and closing constantly but we'll be ontop of that shortly 👍

Yes, it's called Dial Your Own, so you set a time and you need to get as close as you can to that time without going faster (breaking out).
I think the white XW should have gold stripe on the side, i believe, also missed out buying a XY GS factory six for 1,200 bucks in the year 200 at a wracking yard just before you get to Deer Park Melbourne near flowcraft, spewing i did not buy it, now would be worth more than a house if all fixed up back to oe looking?

My dad bought one just before it got crushed at Sims metal for $50 back in the 90s and drove it for 20years with out putting a spanned to it.

Probably for now but I don’t know for how much longer. With over 90% efficiency for electric motors it’s just a matter of a battery that can put out enough power to get fast acceleration.
The electric Rimac Nivera is expected to have a 0-100 of 1.85 and the new Tesla Roadster, a 0-100 of 1.9sec.

F@&K me. I wish it was easier and cheaper for us in the states to get Barra bits. Mine is sitting on the stand calling me to use it every time I’m in my garage ☹️. That engine bay is clean af. That’s how I envisioned my car…. My wallet says otherwise. 🤦🏻♂️
Can't you just import the parts you need like us Aussies do? I ordered a part from the US a few weeks ago and had it inside of a week.

@@fullboost yes I can but some stuff shipping is almost as much as the part at times. My Barra T shirt I purchased from you was over $50 by the time it got to me lol. I wish I could hook up with someone that could line me up with what I need and don’t need. I can start building it again slowly as my budget allows. But very time consuming. @@1953fords Hey buddy, i watch a channel from over in the US called 'Fuel Injection Sucks' . They imported a Barra and put it into an old Ford Granada . They're good dudes and could probably steer you in the right direction on wiring etc .
