- In this video, JJ drives around town visiting local stores to find essential ingredients to create emergency electrolytes, mimicking the commercial Snake Juice formula.
Discover why having electrolytes in your bug-out bag is crucial and learn from JJ's past mistakes of using a sugary mixture that spoiled quickly.
Stay tuned until the end as JJ reveals how to make a no-sugar electrolyte mix with common household items to ensure long-lasting hydration on your adventures.

What are y’all’s favorite electrolytes? Thanks for watching 👊🏻🔥👊🏻
EmergenC! Highest Bioavailability AND cheapest pricepoint!
@@madbombermike in my jump bag for sure 👍🏻
@@FueltheFires We used endurelite powder. Can't get it on Amazon or at Walmarts. Just the website.
I work outside on my homestead in the east Texas heat and don't use electrolytes but I can tell that I need to. I might try to make my own. The only time I enjoyed summer camping was in northern California at the beach. No chiggers, fire ants, mosquitos and it is nice and cool.
Liquid I.V. (pina colada, cause I love getting caught in the rain😁)
That time I got the wrong salt substitute and ended up with Cajun flavored water.
😂 That will get your attention!
😂
I only knock my packet electrolytes up in my Smart Water bottle. Not because of what you said happens but, because them 1lt bottles of water we need, once mixed, are useless for anything else when mixed with electrolytes.
Cannot make other drinks like coffee or help clean a wound say, when mixed with electrolytes.
A great effort on your part to educate us, JJ. Top man!
Thanks brother- just trying to pass on some knowledge from my failure there.. It made me mad 😂
@@FueltheFires Every day is a school day in our game.
You have way more experience than myself and many others, so I thank you for sharing your knowledge.
You already know, I hang on many things you teach/share, even though we have John Lofty Wiseman, Ray Mears (NOT Bear Grylls lol).
I learn from you and SD every week and that is what our community is all about. Sharing, caring, passing forward.
Yeah, JJ dropping facts. I won’t ever put Liquid IV in my canteen again. Even after refilling with water multiple times over several days it still was growing a science experiment around the seal for the lid ✌🏼
I be knowin’ my friend.. We learned a serious lesson together 😂
It's been so hot here I think the devil has been trying to give us pink eye 🤣
😂 I hear ya
😂
Greay video, brother. The same thing happened to me. But I had sweet tea in my bottle. I used backing soda and water. I think it was 2 tablespoons in hot to boiling water. Filled to the top. And let it sit overnight upside down. It worked. It only took 1 time. I really didn't think it would work. My dad told me about it. They would leave stuff in their canteens when he was in the army. And they would use the baking soda and water.
Thanks brother- I appreciate it. Someone else talked about baking soda as well. Gonna have to try that next time 👊🏻
Many uses.. stings, fungus toe nail, onion off hands, clean pool, clean tub/toliet, wait for it... clean gut too. Yep...and I'm out.😂
_Brawndo's_ got what you crave. It's got electrolytes. No scro drinks water, like out of the toilet.
What’s “scro” mean? Are you referring to the fictional energy drink that got turned into a real drink ? (The Brawndo)
@@FueltheFires “Scro” was used in the dialogue in the movie _Idiocracy_ (as well as the drink). The exact meaning isn’t explained. It is certainly part of the degenerate, devolved, dialect of the (fictional
) time.
It could be a shortened version of the word _scrotum_ .
@@RodCornholioIronically, my friend literally told me to watch it today and I just saw it for the first time..
When you're walking out of the GNC store, I was saying go to a health store and then that's exactly what you mentioned.
LOL!
😂.. Funny how that works sometimes
Very informative JP! Kept me hooked the whole time
Right on girl! Thanks 👊🏻
I use a brush made for baby bottles to clean the nasty stuff out of my canteen
Those work really well!
Fully agree. Lots of camping trips me and my were always drinking lots of water. Using electrolytes we drank a lot less. I'm getting the lmnt soon.
Right on.. I really like the citrus flavor when I combine it with the Snake Juice- thanks for watching!
@@FueltheFires Thanks for the suggestion. The snake juice and prolonging food I fully like to.
@@shaynehawkins713Cool! Make sure you “stack” (the Snake Juice AND the LMNT) if you’re gonna use it to fast or prolong your time in the field when rationing 👍🏻
@@FueltheFires Understand. My survival bag is five days of food then hunting and trapping.
@@shaynehawkins713cool 👍🏻
Hello JJ iam glad that you mentioned and for me I will avoid that particular product keep it simple but practical thank you very much God bless you always
Hey! Glad you could learn from my mistakes- thanks for watching 👊🏻
Whoo weee, Johnny Possumcods made a special guest appearance. Flew in just for this video 😂✌🏼
😂 Couldn’t help myself- I love that video 😂
Great vid. Great content. Thanks man
I really appreciate that- thanks for watching!
All you need is Celtic salt. It has everything.
Gonna look into it- thanks!
Oh we understand the summer heat, bugs, sweatiness. It's been 102 here and you have to have something and keep water in our jugs at all times. We get whatever is on sale, Jackco packets are a favorite but expensive. Sierra Trading has some good ones on sale but they sell out. So we make our own. Nu Salt (potassium chloride), Redman Real Salt or Himalayan, and magnesium (capsule to add to the powder). We keep it in a jar. Since I am allergic to a lot a fruit, I add unfiltered apple juice. I've heard to add pineapple juice if you have a virus or stomach bug. Keep up the great videos J.J.
JJ,crap happens, nothing is gonna be normal when shtf.. you didnt mess anything up,you taught us what not to do..👊🏻♨️👊🏻
That it does my friend! Glad you “got” the video and thanks for the continued support 👊🏻🔥👊🏻
This is why a metal nesting cup is essential. Clean water only in the canteen, and you cant leave fluid in it on accident and also nest it again
Roger that- always have one with me and thank God as I really needed it last trip 👊🏻
G'day JJ & extras.! Have to give you 8 out of 10 for effort. It's 5am here so that's all you get matey. Then it's minus 8 for talking & driving while doing a video, which take you to Zero. Hubby gave you 5. Bloody men.! Perhaps Murphy & Scotty should get together and do a down & dirty challenge looking for Potassium Chloride & Magnesium Citrate. Maybe you should have just gone into a chemist/pharmacy and obtain what was required.? But it's fun doing it the hard way. Let's think outside the box..most natural solids plus h2o can also be emergency electrolytes that could be found in a normal kitchen, pantry & refrigerator. Nice green backyard, all you need is a small stove & got yourself a meth lab.!! (hubby's contribution) He always see the fun side of anything, that's why our girls love him. He also sees the good side of everyone regardless, that why he's adored. The girls are still recovering from their survival challenges, instead of 3 they went for 5 days. That's why neither you nor ON3 have heard from them. They were a bit ripe so made them shower outside before coming into the house. So glad their pets like water, we insist that the dogs go with them for extra safety. Our girls always have supplement/electrolytes in their everyday backpacks, plus big sister is in the medical fields, so she looks after her twin sisters. Our advice on favourite electrolytes to our girls would be a good 3 meals a day (solids & liquid) not alcoholic of course & always stay in the shades. They had some funny stories but will let them tell you about it themselves. In the meantime, Fuel the Fires.! Cheers from Australia. We're also give tribute to Donald Southerland, that's one badass on & off screen. Stay safe cobber.
Haha.. For the record, I’m not holding the phone in my hands- it’s secured in my Gorilla Pod set up lol.. It would be like me just talking you while in the car.. It’s illegal over here to ride with the phone in your hand.. Good for the girls! Glad they pushed themselves- give them a fist bump for me 👊🏻 I like the rating system btw lol
Should try camping further north in the summer. 😊
Agreed!
Great video JJ keep em coming 👊🔥👊
Roger Wilco 👊🏻🔥👊🏻
I'm totally with you brother about camping in the summer. It's right up there with walking barefooted on asphalt. In the summer. 😂😂. It sucks. I'm built like a polar bear and made for the winter. Even living in southeast ga for 45 plus years I'm still not used to it.
I hear ya brother! I haven’t got used to it after nearly 50 years either 😂.. Maybe God is telling us something lol.. I HATE this heat. Maybe someday I’ll wise up and migrate and hang out with the polar bears. Thanks for the continued support 👊🏻🔥👊🏻
@@FueltheFires Roger that brother.
@FueltheFires Also I'm closer to 50 than 45 also. But 45 plus sounded better. 🤣🤣
Notice how the hospital staff checks your electrolyte levels optimal kidney function is paramount
You got that right! 👊🏻
don't get pissed at yourself mate!... it doesn't worth it!... we're only humans!... our mistakes define us! [let this sink for a minute...] The good thing is that we learn from our mistakes... we evolve!... so we need them, to get better!...
Now for the ''smell'' bicarbonate [baking soda] absorbs smells like a sponge...[it's the carbon doing ''carbon things''...] Vinegar on the other hand masks all nasty smells, with its own ''fresh'' smell... mix one of those with water, shake it well, and rinse it and you're good to go...
I never use electrolytes... but I do eat a couple of bananas every day... [that's my thing!] and I ''listen to my body'' and eat things I feel it needs...I also love coffee... and btw,''electro-lytes'' is a Greek word meaning ''electro'' [or electron] dissolvers [lytes], the purified water we add into the lead-acid batteries... we call it ''electrolyte'' in Greek, [if that makes any sense to you...]
I'm saving this video on a list... next time out shopping I'll see what's in the market available here,
but I'll go for sea salt [iodine] instead of ''pink''...it's the ''iron oxide''[rust] that gives the pink color...
Good Job Mate!... you took an Honest Mistake and made a Lesson about it!... that just shows how good you are... not just at '''Creating''... but also, Learning and Teaching!...
Good on Ya!... 👍
I appreciate it brother! This incident was just something I felt “compelled” to talk about because it was such a pain. You got the point of the video completely. You’re the third to bring up the baking soda idea so I will definitely use it next time.. I appreciate the “science” you’re putting down! I like it when you break stuff down. See what you come up with next trip to the store- definitely would be interesting to say the least. Thanks for being “you” 👊🏻🔥👊🏻
I use liquid IV to keep from cramping at night, but never in my canteen..I take freeze dried bananas for potassium and for a blood sugar boost when I'm a hiking. I also take several packets of salt that I can sprinkle in my water if I need to. As well as magnesium pills, also an electrolyte
I won’t make the same mistake again.. I do like Liquid IV but will never put it in my canteen again lol
Camping in Florida during the summer. No buano.
😂 I hear ya
Sugar makes bacteria and all sorts of microscopic critters grow! Especially with water. I, in my self-taught layman's opinion, would not suggest putting Liquid IV until you are ready to drink it all and then wash any containers thoroughly before putting them away afterwards.
This lesson I learned by experience 😂
JJ , you can use lemon juice or ACv to get that smell out is your water bottles. Plastic nelgenes are the worse , if you eating when your drinking out of them.
Definitely some hack thuu.. spit on that thang!
Ms. Tuwah would agree! 😂😂😂😂
Know what I mean!?!?
By God 🤣
@@charlessalmond7076😂
I personally dig chiggers. They are my favorite!
We have found our “one” 😂
😂
I hate the taste of liquid iv! The only other electrolyte mix I can use from the grocery store is Propel. Everything else has aspartame and I’m allergic to that. Im not ever out in the wilderness lol the only time I put it in my water is when I’m doing yard work or taking care of the chicken pin.
I find people either love or hate the taste of it.. I prefer the taste of cane sugar to aspartame for sure though.. I can do Propel if that’s what someone has.. LMNT is the best tasting one to me.. Thanks for watching!
Tactical fluid is decent
Gonna have to look into that- thanks for posting 👊🏻
Try looking for potassium chloride in the vitamin section.
I did but failed to find it at the actual 5 stores I went to anyway
In the old days, you could go to any drug store and ask for pure KCl - potassium chloride... Any reason you didn't go that route?
Didn’t know you could! I will certainly look into it as my Dad is a pharmacist 😂
duh dont put anything into your hydration-carrier. but water. If you want to mix in something else, do so in your METAL cup then wash out the cup and if you can't boil it, swish some alcohol or peroxide around in it, dump that, swish water around in it, and then let it sit in the sun or hang from your pack in the sun until it's completely dry
Yes- NEVER put anything like that in a bladder for sure! In this case it WAS a stainless steel canteen and it was an extreme pain to clean out.. I should have used the stainless nesting cup instead. Normally I don’t have electrolytes with a sweetener. Sharing my fail for others to learn from 👍🏻
I agree about the summer, cant stand it.
Thank you! 👊🏻
JJ I think the regular Morton's no salt is 100% potassium chloride .
I love this.
👊🏻🔥👊🏻
This is why I don't use camel bags. Been there, yucky !
Yeah- NEVER use a Camel Bag with electrolytes unless you have too 😂.. Not a good thing ☝🏻
Good info.
Thank you!
This MFr spittin!!!
😂 that hawk-tua 🤣
Try baking soda to clean your canteen.
That’s a good idea- make my toothpaste with it. Thanks for posting 👊🏻
Can’t believe you went to target 😅
Me either 😂 I felt “dirty”
So how much pink salt did you use?
I didn’t in this case because I didn’t have pure potassium chloride.. If I did it would be 1/2 teaspoon per liter 👍🏻
Hey nice video…. I used to race 24 hour races a few years ago, mostly used Accelerade, salt tablets… On the other hand…nice neck knife, can you tell me the maker and model? Thanks
Great video!
Thanks babe 🔥
he drinks Dos Equis...lol
I USE SALT AS A electrolytes but it needs to be salt and nothing else. But if I try anything else it makes me go to the bathroom. But salt helps me the best and the salt cannot be chemical made salt.
I put my salt in a flask a small flask and I am not worried about being told that it will ruin the metal contaner but I put it in dry and it keeps it dry and fresh. And you could use a salt block for livestock you just need to collect a little bit of it off before you give it to your livestock. And wrap it in a cloth to carry.
Sprouts
My wife said the same thing.. I hadn’t heard of it before. Thanks for posting!
Is a drug store too easy? We have two within walking distance of our home.
Boby possumcod!
Be careful with liquid IV then 😬
The moral of the story is correct 👍🏻
@@FueltheFires instead, ingest salt rocks.

well ???? are you bullshitting about drinking 56 -16 oz bottles of water per week ???
You should try it and see what results you get
you claim you drink 130 oz water per day = 8 -16 oz bottles per day...sorry but i say you are bullshitting us...
I don’t know your weight but I weigh 260 lbs which divided by two and converted to ounces is 130 oz. A gallon is 128 ounces. If you’re talking 16 oz. bottles I would drink 8 of those per day or 56 per week.
