So glad to see young people driving manual cars 👌👌👌👌
A must around this place
Buen video!! Gracias por compartir!! 😄
Thanks so much for posting this video. I must have watched it a dozen times maybe more over the last year. It particularly saved me yesterday when I was able to watch back and determine where the long bolt went just above the axle seal on the passenger side. A buddy and I mixed up a couple of bolts and I was able to determine what bolts needed to go there in your video
Glad it was helpful! We often use our own video footage to figure out the same 😂
The fact you know how to use impacts correctly is a great sign you know what you are doing. So many videos show people trying to break bolts free with the motor instead of your arm. 😊
Haha. Years of doing it wrong taught me correctly 😂
Thank you a much brother, I’m going tackle this myself on my 2016 fiesta st with 81k on the dash
Glad.it was helpful! Good luck on your project
The odds of this video showing up was SUPER convenient!!! Thaannnnnnk you for this!!! My 2015 clutch slave is finished an I just changed the master (by myself) 2 weeks prior! Oh man! Thank you
Hopefully it's helpful. It's not a bad job but it's not fun either 😂
I was watching an the more you took stuff apart the more sad I got... I don't half the tools you do, nevermind a hoist 😂 this job looks alot more of a pain.. then my brother's 99' Honda civic
@@Jonny.Jr.Jay.Junior yeah. Same concept but a lot of stuff in the way
@@StebbinsGarage Still! I really appreciate you posting this! This helps.. especially trying to find the slave cylinder to bleed the line... (Took me months on the internet to find) to no avail... I found it myself after taking out so much from the engine bay😂 again, thanks man!
For anyone who is curious as to how much all this would cost at a Ford dealer to get this done. It'll cost 1,560$ (CAD) For the Slave Cylinder replacement, master cylinder replacement, an throw-out bearing + labor costs together.
Gotta 2015 same thing. Thanks for the video.
My other daughter has a blue 2015. Yep, same car.
@@StebbinsGarage Do you know if the newer version is better? 100,000 miles seems to quick for failure.
There isn't a newer version that I'm aware of. It's a common issue on the Fiestas because the slave is plastic
Good video. You have a new subscriber
Thanks for subbing!
Thanks for the Sparcos!! Lol didn't know yall had a channel
Yeah we do a little bit of everything 😁
@StebbinsGarage awesome man what tires do you recommend for these 16s I got?
@@alexhornsby9767 we're running General GMax all seasons on ours and they seem to be a nice tire for the money
I sure hope my slave cylinder never fails! Dealership will easily charge you 4-5k! Damn hot hatch heaven, 2 Fords and a sweet AMG gla45!
It's not a fun fix but definitely cheaper than the dealer. We love hatches around here. Thanks for watching!
Where did you find the step by step guide. I'm planning on replacing my clutch and would like to have the same guide.
It was posted on fiestast.org
That just happened to my focus st, what high performance clutch slave cilinder you could recommend me to get.?
We installed another OEM slave cylinder. I don't know of any aftermarket ones
let the knuckle move freely remove the strut bolts next time and the control arm will come out faster. i had this issue when installing hard race lcas
Exactly. That stud on the lower ball joint is a bear to remove. Don't even try. Disconnecting the knuckle from the strut is simple. Just be careful not to stress the brake line. Also make sure to disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor first.
Just curious how many hours something like this takes to complete?
It should be a 6 hour job, but with filming and being the first time we did one in this car it was closer to 12 hours. The actual part is only like $40 but paying someone for labor would be a whole lot
was the slave leaking? My pedal is sticking intermittently. It’ll feel fine, and then randomly there will be 3/4 dead pedal. already replaced the Clutch master, still doing the same thing. Figured it was the master since the slave wasn’t leaking
No the slave was not leaking. The clutch pedal would just randomly stick to the floor. Replacing the slave cylinder fixed the problem 100%
How do you actually bleed the clutch slave cylinder? Doing the same thing at the moment and can’t find info anywhere
Open the yellow bleed valve while someone has pumped up the clutch and is holding it down, close it then release. It's just like bleeding brakes
@@StebbinsGarage ok thank you very much! Struggling to get the trans back attached lol
Where online can I get the service manual you used for the fiesta st?
It was the fourth link on Google for "Fiesta ST service manual"
Do I also have to change the clutch when I replace the slave cylinder ? I’ve been told by the local garage that is a must to change the clutch when I change the slave cylinder ? Thanks
Not necessary, but if your clutch is close to needing replacement it's a good idea and will save a ton of labor. We didn't change it because parts were not available otherwise I definitely would have.
@@StebbinsGarage well how do I know it my clutch needs replacing as well ? My issue is that my pedal sticks to the floor sometimes. My mechanic told me it's a must to change both when replacing slave cylinder
If your clutch has over 100k miles on it, it will likely need to be replaced soon anyway so it's best to change it while the trans is already out otherwise you'll pay for the removal and installation of the transmission twice
@@StebbinsGarage thanks!!
To bleed the clutch do you just need to open the bleeder and hold the clutch pedal down? I don’t think I saw whether you guys had to do that in this video
It's like bleeding brakes. Have someone pump the clutch pedal a few times, then hold it down while you open the bleeder. Do this a bunch of times until no air comes out and it's bled
@@StebbinsGarage I’ve done brakes, but never the clutch. Thank you very much.
Hey guys quick question my trans was leaking badly, not trans fluid but my brake fluid, is it still the slave cylinder? My pedal sticks to the floor and stays there unless I move it by hand
The clutch hydraulic system uses brake fluid so it's possible your slave is leaking. That would be my suspicion
@@StebbinsGarage thanks for the insight been hustling out here myself for a couple hours, my goal is to confirm it’s the slave cylinder but are you suggesting it’s still the slave cylinder? Everything else seems to be in order so it’s the only thing I can’t see until I drop the trans but I’m 95% sure it’s the slave cylinder
@@StebbinsGarage thanks boss I greatly apreciate your input have a great day!
How long did it take overall? Considering you were recording?
It should be a 6 hour job, but with filming and being the first time we did one in this car it was closer to 12 hours
@@StebbinsGarage damn 😬
Can you add the manuel to the description? I cannot find it online
It's copyrighted so I'm not able to share it unfortunately
@StebbinsGarage oh dang. No worries then. Thanks for letting me know
I got the trans out and back in the axles are in but and everything os bolted back up but I can’t get the ball joint to line back up is there something I did wrong
Are you positive the axle is all the way back in the trans? Only thing I can think of
@@StebbinsGarage not 100% I’ll check on those today thank you
Did you do a new clutch?
We did not. Parts were not available at the time, and we needed to get her car fixed. It's definitely a good idea to swap the clutch if your car is close to needing one. Trying to get any parts right now is silly. I had the slave cylinder on hand already because I knew it was going to need it at some point.
Can you tell me is this job the same on a 14 fusion
I've never worked on one of those but the Focus would have more in common with the Fusion. I have a Focus engine swap video on my channel as well
Awesome, thank you for the advice man. I will say this most of this video does match up perfectly with the 1.6 turbo in my fusion I however did not completely remove charge pipe I just disconnected it from the mounts on the bottom of the oil pan. Not a fun job for a fella with one and a half hands but this video helped a lot lmao!! Thanks again Man..subscribed!!
@@ajlockwood5242 great! I was thinking the Fusion had the 2.0 like the Focus. Glad it was helpful
Well boss she's all back together!! Thanks for the advise I cN say now that the fusion and fiesta are basically the same from the windshield forward. Only difference is that the subfram does need dropped to completely remove the tranny, however it did not have to come completely out to access the slave or clutch was still enough room to easily replace the slave cylinder and clean the inside up. Thanks a million bro hope this small insight will be helpful to you at some point!!!
@@ajlockwood5242 great to hear! Glad you got it going again. Also good to know they are pretty much the same 👍
Did y’all do anything with the clutch or did y’all just put a new slave cylinder in
No. I wanted to go ahead and replace the clutch and flywheel while we were in there but no parts were available. When we swapped engines in the Focus we did a new clutch but had to wait a while to get it
@@StebbinsGarage just checking my slave went out but clutch felt great before the slave went out just trying to see if I could save money rn and just replace the clutch later because a flywheel not pocket friendly
You definitely can. My daughter's car was getting up in mileage and it would have saved the labor to change the clutch later but she's been driving it for several months since we changed the slave and we've had no more issues
Was it leaking?
Not externally. It would stick to the floor sometimes, then more often, then all the timr
My pedal has starting sticking and my ST only has 36K miles on the clock… agh annoying. Hopefully I don’t need to do clutch.
I would think just replacing the slave at that mileage would be fine
Why didn't you replace the clutch beings you had to drop the tranny ?
My slave cylinder just took a dump and order a clutch kit because this job sucks balls to take apart.
Parts were on backorder and we needed the car. Definitely better to replace while trans is out but since this wasn't planned it didn't work out that way
@@StebbinsGarage That's sense didn't think u would skip it.
I'm going to have to replace the lower control arms, steering Knuckle assembly
cv axles, wheel bearings hubs and struts because there rusty and crusty and will not come apart. Break out another 500 bucks, 😟
@@stevecooper8121 always something! Good luck
Y'all didn't bleed it?
Yeah I just didn't film it because it's hard to do it with a camera in there
