- We often demonstrate a lot of printing in our print shop exhibit at the Sacramento History Museum, but not many people get to see the cleaning process. This is the full cleaning process with minimal edits. We use K-1kerosene as a solvent.

Fascinating video. Amazing machine and an amazing time in our history. Love watching a craftsman who’s so knowledgeable of their craft and who takes such pride in their craft. Could watch this man and this printer for hours! Thank you.
Amazing how this kind of printing still works as well as modern technology
I’d argue that it could be used better. Every print is deliberately spelled out. Same can’t be said for most social media “prints” 😂
This is such asmr, all these videos are, really. Thanks!!
Wow! Fascinating stuff! I'm 75 and started doing Linocuts some months ago. The Museum's videos have illustrated the importance of discipline regarding printing Linocuts, I think. One has learnt to appreciate things that would typically be discarded by most people, such as blackened rags and old newspapers! Thank you for this enriching series! Good job 👍🏻
I’m amazed he don’t have ink all over him. I know I’d been green by the time I got finished doing that 😂! I can tell he really enjoys his job. 😊
The ink is so thick! Wow.
it's so HARD!!
That is amazingly that the machine gets back to silver! Looks like harder to clean the 1sr couple of times 😮😮
It would be useless if it did not get completely cleaned.
What is the solution used to clean comprised of?
I have a genuine question can you use that ink after you scrape it and reuse it instead of putting it on paper or is it just for one time use only
Seriously, if I had taken that long to wash up at the end of a job, my boss would have had me out the door... I found it was much quicker to pull the rollers out and wash them by hand (wearing gloves, of course), and then wash the slab by hand. That's why I liked days where I didn't have too many colour changes, because it meant I could do more of what I really enjoyed, which was the actual printing.
De acuerdo colega
You telling me you can do all that in under 8 minutes?
@@billsedutto8824 Simple answer: Yes.
@@robertnelson3614where's your video?
@billsedutto8824 he probably could yes but likely with more wear and tear on the machine. Typically the more convenient/faster ways also result in lower lifespan for the device.
Insurance company/OSHA : “you need to use gloves 100% of the time while handling such equipment and chemicals.
Company: you try to do it with gloves
Insurance/OSHA: fair enough, continue
