- Here at the Sacramento History Museum, we are preparing for the new school field trip season! This includes stocking up on some of the handouts we give to schools that participate in our Gold Rush Program, which includes a print shop presentation.
In this video, Howard prepares our Chandler & Price jobbing press for a press run and prints 500 handouts in a light blue ink. This ink is a mix of Opaque White and Reflex Blue rubber base ink. This is the second of three press runs to print on this same piece of paper. The third press run will over print on top of this blue text.

Even The sound of the printing press just printing the paper was so peaceful and soothing. Loved this!
Honestly, I feel like somebody could use this as the baseline for a song.
Delightful 😊
Oh wow I’m early! Love seeing longer content from you guys
I think our longer videos are the best content we have. Unfortunately, our viewers mainly just see our shorts content.
@@SacramentoHistoryMuseum ikr UA-cam’s algorithm only shows shorts to people who found that channel through their shorts. Major flaw

How old is this machine??
It's so comforting to watch you work. 🥰 A little deceleration in the hectic everyday life. Please bring more of these longer videos.
This is really wonderful, have never seen such kind of printing. Invitation cards prints would be nice
Check out our other press run videos! We print our holiday cards with this press.
“My favorite little object… a round to-it” 😂
The equipment and process it’s all new to me. Thank you.
So I've been wondering, does your website have a list of all the types of press y'all have? If not, could you make a video about them?
We only have 3 printing presses! Our Washington hand press, our Chandler & Price jobbing press, and a 3x5 Kelsey Excelsior. We’ve made videos about them!
@@SacramentoHistoryMuseum I just took a look at the Kelsey Excelsior. Not at all what I'd thought it'd be! Do you know what sorts of videos I'd have to look for to find out more about contemporary rolling drum style presses? (I'm absolutely certain that I got the name of the type of press wrong, what's the proper name?)
You’re thinking of Vandercooks, I believe!
Coming from an offset background just 3 rollers and the disk loke like such an easy option for washup 😁
Ripping on that machine !
I have to say that is a very pretty blue!😊😊😊😊
That color makes the inkstone look kind of like the USS Enterprise-D
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
what's that dial on the side for?
The Redington counter keeps track of how many prints were made.
okay, thanks
How does that tiny amount of ink/paint last so long??? Love these videos!
How old is this press? When was it developed?
This jobbing press was manufactured in 1902 in Cleveland, Ohio.

kagıt yüklemeden mürekkebi yenilemek içn o kolu çekmek gerekiyor galiba bir yüklemelik mürekkep 100 150 sayfa basıyordur diye tahmin ediyorum. makine çok ağır bir makine galiba iş bitiminde birde temizlik oluyor galiba
Howard, there's alot of low spots on those rollers? Well all you print is type so its ok to have chewed up rollers....😢
Too bad we didnt get a closeup of the print. Jeez.
There is at 4:48. The finished print will not be done until the next press run.
@@SacramentoHistoryMuseum oh my bad. Missed it. Thank you. Love your history.
