thanks so much for making this video! I'm trying to DIY a wired handle for this interchangeable mic capsule because the brand name one is $200 where I live and this was super helpful. currently am trying to figure out if it would be possible to directly wire the gold contacts to the wires in a TRS or XLR cable
Question! I touched the small round foam ontop of the cartridge and it broke into pieces (disintegrated) is my microphone at risk or it’s still good ??? Please help im pretty worried
It will be fine. Just make sure the foam pieces did not move around and are not stuck inside the cartridge, on top of the membrane. That will muffle the sound. I’ve had that happen. Once all the disintegrated foam is removed, the mic will sound fine. Good luck!
It’s an ultra-thin wire, stuck to the yellow tape. Thinner than a human hair. I was able to pry it loose with tweezers and bridge a burnt spot with a piece of thin copper wire that I soldered over the gap. I used a magnifying glass for the soldering. It probably changed the impedance of the microphone but it is working again. Hope this helps.
Sorry, I don’t know why there are 3 rings. There are only two wires coming out of the round circuit board, red and green. You can see this in the video at 4:55.
Your microphone transmitter should have a label somewhere (under battery cover?) with its frequency or frequency code. Then find a used Shure receiver with that same frequency.
Thanks for the video, it was useful for me.
The larger screw on SM-58 capsule is an ORIGINAL SHURE!! capsule but it's a older model
Thank you! Mystery solved.
Muchas gracias hermano te hagradesco mucho tu video

@Pedro Emmett Thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :D I really appreciate it !!
Should be able to get some sound out of the red and green wires to see if it’s the capsule or the board.

its ironic how low the audio level is considering this must be someone who deals with audio professionally, but thanks for the video
Why are microphones so expensive? The parts are so simple.

I have a question, I have a sm 58 model no LCD, I want mod to the receiver, the original receiver is gone. Can I do it?
