    Hi! Would you say this is a good mixer to use in 2024? I found one in a good general state and was thinking of selling my reloop RMX 40 DSP LTD and getting this.

      Hi Theo, DJs made it work in 1995… the DJM500 is a quality mixer but might have suffered over the years. It’s also slightly noisier than my other Pioneer DJM mixers (some hiss from speakers). I think your Reloop would be slightly better because it has fx parameter time and level (2 knobs), the DJM500 only has time. The 1998 DJM600 has the added parameter level. Other than that, same type of unit.

    Hi Edgar, Great job! I need to replace two tweeters for the CM7 (S1) but they are quite expensive at ~€100 each from NL webshops. Were yours any cheaper and if so, where did you order them?

    • @edgarsteenwinkel1970
      @edgarsteenwinkel1970 8 місяців тому

      I ordered through encompass.com. Yes unfortunately they were that expensive. I tried to find used speakers as donors but usually the tweeters are broken already. There are many versions of the tweeter: make sure to get the right one. Good luck!

We have to make sure that we insure all of our packages! 😁 I did find the assembly and reassembly of the mixer to be quite fascinating along with cleaning the parts with the baking soda and vinegar 💡

    How much difference in sound did you notice with this temporary fix?

    • @edgarsteenwinkel1970
      @edgarsteenwinkel1970 10 місяців тому

      To be honest, very little. I have the CM1 center speaker too, and its dome was dented: when I popped out the dent there was a noticeable change from “too bright”, or “harsh” to “smooth”. With the CM1 S2 dome fix the difference was much smaller. I don’t think I would have noticed if I hadn’t known about the fix. It sounded the same when I replaced the tweeter. I keep the “triple dome” as backup, just in case.

    Question! I touched the small round foam ontop of the cartridge and it broke into pieces (disintegrated) is my microphone at risk or it’s still good ??? Please help im pretty worried

    • @edgarsteenwinkel1970
      @edgarsteenwinkel1970 2 роки тому

      It will be fine. Just make sure the foam pieces did not move around and are not stuck inside the cartridge, on top of the membrane. That will muffle the sound. I’ve had that happen. Once all the disintegrated foam is removed, the mic will sound fine. Good luck!

    • @edgarsteenwinkel1970

      Your microphone transmitter should have a label somewhere (under battery cover?) with its frequency or frequency code. Then find a used Shure receiver with that same frequency.

    Hello, i'd like to give my CM1 S2's a new colour, but i did not found out how to remove the aluminium rings around the grilles! Could you expect me how to remove them without damaging those?

    • @edgarsteenwinkel1970
      @edgarsteenwinkel1970 3 роки тому

      Obviously try at your own risk, but they just pop off. Use something like a credit card (or even softer plastic) and carefully pry them off, after removing the grille with the magnet tool. The dome will damage easily, if it is touched. The larger rings around the driver same thing: there are 4 small plastic posts that snap into place behind the ring. Be careful and good luck… and consider posting the result here!

    • @edgarsteenwinkel1970
      @edgarsteenwinkel1970 3 роки тому

      It’s an ultra-thin wire, stuck to the yellow tape. Thinner than a human hair. I was able to pry it loose with tweezers and bridge a burnt spot with a piece of thin copper wire that I soldered over the gap. I used a magnifying glass for the soldering. It probably changed the impedance of the microphone but it is working again. Hope this helps.
