The Second Punic War is often called the Ancient World's World War 2, and that is an understatement, the conflict was centered around the two major powers of the region: the Carthaginian Empire, and the Roman Republic, but the conflict spread across the entire Mediterranean, from Iberia to the edge of Turkey, see how this conflict plays out in one of the most detailed videos of this conflict yet!

The second Punic war reminds me of the Second World War in terms of the Carthaginians almost winning but then getting wiped out by the end of the war, with the Macedonians being similar to the Japanese in that they were marginally allies with the Carthaginians but could never fully coordinate a planned attack. The first public war is somewhat like the First World War in that it was a stalemate for most of the war and by the end it was essentially a ceasefire for a greater upcoming conflict.
Yeah but the germans weren't almost winning in any year of the war
@@duduchannel6729 i disagree 1940-1942 was a high point for the axis powers when they were (with the exception of britain and Moscow) clearly dominating Europe
@@cg123ize Not really, they only attacked weaker nations and took France by surprise, they lost the battle of Britain, their military code (Enigma) was encrypted at the beginning of the war and they didn't reached Arkhangelsk (original objective of the operation Barbarossa) if that is dominating Europe...
@@duduchannel6729 nah stfu Germany rules
@@duduchannel6729 Well, the comparison will never be perfect, they are different wars after all.

@@Vmac1394Its not that he didn't know how to exploit it, he just didn't have nearly enough resources bc Carthage refused to give him.
Amazing work! This is the first time this conflict has been mapped in any detail.
Heh, thanks man!
I’m going to say that THIS was THE greatest comeback in all of history.
Ey, thanks!
better than the greeks kicking the persians twice and then conquering them in a third war all the way to india?
@@TheHunterOfYharnam Well, that wouldn't be a comeback, that was the equivalent of Persia walking into a hornet nest
@@Ethan-cz8xq how is it not a comeback?
persia attacked twice got destroyed twice and then once greece unified it conquered the largest and most powerful state that had ever existed until that time
@@TheHunterOfYharnam It's not a comeback, the Persian Wars happened 150 years before Alexander
The Boii Tribe were the true victors of this war. :P
Edit: BOOOOOOOIIIIII!
xD
Kratos: did someone said Boi?
I cannot tell you how much I love the music you chose for this video. Great job!
Carthage will won if ;
1) they had Corsica and Sadinia lost at Mercenary revolt
2) Mago waited Hasdrubal's reinforcements at İberia
3) Hasdrubal won Metaurus and Joined Hannibal with siege weapons ( if Hannibal's problem is this )
4) Scipio Africanus killed in Ticinus
5) Macedonia defeated Roman's Epirus Garrison ( which is low possibility but happens somehow )
If they had Corsica and Sardinia en the 2nd Punic War the war doesn't happen. The reason why the 2nd Punic War happened is because during the Mercenary War the romans annexed Corsica and Sardinia.
@@dudemanthedudethe war happened because Hannibal besieged saguntum
@@wilcowenHe sieged Saguntum because Carthage was compensating for losing Sardinia and Corsica by expanding into Spain.
I like how Romans struggled 2 times, lost their whole armies, and then
PUSH IT TO THE LIMIT
I'm rooting for the Boii tribe here! they're the true champions
Pretty epic! Nice job.
Thanks!
After this video, i really cannot wait for another Oversimplied video about punic wars.
Brilliant Job, just a few mistakes though. The intro text has some spelling mistakes, and the Carthaginian campaign in southern sicily (215-211 BC) is not shown. Great video!
Great video!
A true testament to the glory of Rome and a society so perfectly combining extreme collectivism with great individualism. Nothing will ever come close ever again.
good job! carthago delenda est
PS: that music is bad ass
Nice video!
Nice job! Though it might be a good idea to change the title to Every Week, as that is the unit used. Just a suggestion.
Opps, thanks for the notice.
As someone who supports Rome I got to say Hannibal was such a General
“Fuk u alps I’m going to the Roman Republic in W I N T E R”

Good job!
Great job
Oversimplified uploaded a video on the second Punic War.
Do the Third Punic War every week
Scipione likes this video
so does hannibal at the start
Thomas had never seen such a mess.
So after crossing the Alps were Hannibalian forces still in Italy (because colour code)? Did they fight? I am slightly confused as why the frontlints didn't change.
Hannibal basically chose his battles whenever he could and tried to weaken the Romans rather then take Rome itself.
But yes, Hannibal did fight.
@@HurricaneHunter03 So I guess this made it hard to map? Anyways, great video.
Will u cover the diadochi wars?
Do you will make video about history of ISIL: Every day?
Probably at some point, there's a lotta info i would add once i get around to it.
If only Fabius or Scipio didn't exist
Carthage would have won then
That's simply great

Pretty sure everything in Italy outside of Brutium was captured by the Romans after Hasdrubal was defeated
i dont think so
Good video only problem is boii trive and Rome have too similar of colors

In Tunisia and North Africa, from the Siwa Oasis to the Canary Islands, There is only the Amazigh They are divided into two types: free amazigh of indigenous origins who do not deny their origins, and Arabized amazigh who are ungrateful and ignorant of their origins and love to belong to the Arabs And for others in search of honorable lineage, not knowing that the most honorable lineage for them is their own lineage, the Amazigh, the pure North African, and the Amazigh is the origin and the soul, the enjoyment of Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, and North Africa from the Siwa Oasis To the Canary Islands, genetically, according to the latest scientific research, such as National Geographic content, and the genetic analyzes found on UA-cam and Facebook, and culturally, couscous, bronos, qashabia, cordon, bazin, tagine,Harissa, Tanit, and linguistically, the ancient Libyan language is the predecessor of the Amazigh language. Please correct the history. There are many illogical fallacies
It is not reasonable to attribute an entire civilization like Carthage to mere merchants who came from the East
