      Yes, I agree 😊 We all have different needs, so I guess this HDR video mode will be useful for some, and for someone else it’s not something they will use that much 😊

    What a great feature! I completely ignored this until I saw you explain it on another video. I'm enjoying your content and it's allowing me to get more out of my M6 mkii 😀 subscribed 👍🏻
    Any plans to do a video on the HDR photography settings?

    I tested the hdr in couple places but somehow it's not good as you loose the resolution and well..the automatic things and well it's not "magically good". :D
    The most annoying thing with M6 MKII is that if you enable 120fps and then disable it. It will go back to FHD and not back to what you had earlier, like 4k. I think that is something they really should fix on firmware. :/

    • @RogerAVHansen
      @RogerAVHansen  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, and not only does it go back to FullHD, it goes back to 50/60 fps. So if you’re not observant, it could potentially ruin your shots. A firmware update on this issue would have been nice 😊
      I’ve not found the HDR video mode specifically useful as you’re not able to change the settings.

    Thanks for detailed description. I am interested to buy Canon R10, M6 mark II or M50 mark II lately. What is the AUTO ISO under low light video mode for M6 mark II, though its iso spec. is 100 - 25600 (could extend to 51200) ?

    • @RogerAVHansen
      @RogerAVHansen  2 роки тому +1

      I never use auto ISO, I use manual mode 😊 But the ISO on the m6 mark II is like you said, 100-25600, but expandable to 51200. 😊
      When it comes to cameras, I would get the R10 if you can afford it. Possibly the R7 if you can afford that. The EF-M system is not a system Canon is focusing on anymore, so to future proof your purchase I would go for the new cropped RF system 😊

    I picked A for HDR. Does the EOS R have HDR mode? By the way I reordered the R6 it should be here tomorrow (Jan. 27th). After not having it for a month I realized I missed using it even though it does not do everything I want it to do. I just ordered a 1.4x converter with it so I can shoot wildlife a little closer.

    • @PTUsher
      @PTUsher 3 роки тому +1

      Yes the R has HDR mode, with manual controls, so a little more useful than its implementation on the M6. Of course the R also has CLOG, which I tend to use more than HDR as its better for grading

    • @RogerAVHansen
      @RogerAVHansen  3 роки тому +1

      Congratulations, again, on getting the R6! 🤗 With the converter it’s almost the same “crop” as the M6 mark ii 😊 I see that FILM 2.0 commented and that he has found HDR mode on the EOS R.. The EOS R has C-LOG, that’s what I’ve been using if I want the best dynamic range, and you’re still in control over your settings. It requires color grading in post, but that’s not the biggest hassle 😊
      Man, I got to find something I can sell so I also can order the R6 😄

      @@RogerAVHansen I don't know if I said this already, but I sold three GoPros and all of the filters mounts and cases with them, a very nice set of golf clubs and bag, my M50 and the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 to get it. I also had a few months to save up to get it. Now I'm saving up for the R5 and or the R7. I might have to sell a kidney, a lung, and anything else I can to get them. We will see.

    • @RogerAVHansen
      @RogerAVHansen  3 роки тому +2

      😄 This gave me a good laugh 😄 I’m thinking about selling the M6 mark ii with my accessories and see how far off I am from the price of the R6. But I’m feeling a little bit sentimental about selling the M6 mark ii.. it was my first real camera, and I really love the little thing. So maybe I have to look around for other things to sell instead. R5 would be great, but I have to be a little bit realistic about my needs 😊

    • @faspete2nd

      @@RogerAVHansen I can't sell the M6 Mark II. I need it for some vs. videos with the R6. I'm also in a different life position then you. I don't have kids and I'm not married so I can indulge in this effort without to much trouble. Take care! By the time you post your next video you should hit 1000 subscribers.

    Hi Roger - love your channel! I'm living in Norway too (Bergen, although I'm a New Zealander) and have found your channel especially useful as you're using the same basic camera/lens combo as me (M6 mark ii with the 15-45mm kit lens). I'd love your advice on the next lens I should look at getting, specifically for vlogging as I'm really new to video and cameras in general; I mostly make short travel logs when hiking and on walks etc. Do you find the Sigma 18-35mm to be a great lens for video without stabilization? Or would you recommend something different as an alternative, like a prime? I have a Canon -ef-eos-m adapter but am considering the viltrox speedbooster and sigma combo as a lens upgrade. Wish there was a way to try before buying as I'm always worried I'll drop a lot of money on a lens that would turn out to be unsatisfactory, but I find it hard to find non sponsored content that gives honest advice on YT (another reason I dig your channel). Would love to hear your thoughts as you clearly know your stuff! Cheers.

      Also curious if you have any recommendations for non CLOG picture profiles for filming in camera? I tried filming for a while with a CLOG profile then color correcting in FCPX and adding LUTS afterwards, but just found it added so much time to my FCPX editing that it began to suck the enjoyment out of the filming and editing process so I reverted back to standard. I've heard mixed things on the 15-45mm kit lens but have heard you can get better results from custom profiles in terms of sharpness.

      @@rileyseyes3230 Hi! 😃 Nice to see other Norwegian people on UA-cam 😊 And specially people not to far from where I live 😊 The Sigma 18-35 is a wonderful lens, sharp, wide aperture, gives a beautiful image, but as a “on-the-go” walk around lens for vlogging it’s a bit heavy. It’s over 800gr + you need the EF-EFm adapter (you do not need a speedbooster as the lens is made for cropped sensor cameras like the M6mk2) and walking around with all that will give you a sore arm 😅 The 15-45mm works great for vlogging, the problem with that lens is that it has a variable aperture. I would look at the EF-M 22mm f/2. You won’t find a smaller lens with a wide aperture at that price point that gives a beautiful image 😊 Another lens could be the Sigma EF-M 16mm f/1,4, but that a little heavier again.
      If you find the work with color grading time consuming, the standard picture profile works great. One of the well known factors with Canon cameras is the beautiful colors straight out of camera, like the standard profile. And for vlogging you don’t need anything else 😊 When filming in log profiles you need to ad everything in post, sharpness as well.
      Hope this was somewhat helpful 😊 You can also DM me on Instagram @hansen740 if you feel like it 😊

      @@RogerAVHansen Thanks for the informative reply! I had to have a look on google to see what you meant about the size of the Sigma - what a monster lens for an M6ii. I wonder how many owners a year accidentally knock themselves out pushing the selfie button on their gimbals with that lens on their camera haha. It looks like an amazing lens regardless and happy to hear I dont necessarily have to shell out for the speedbooster. Much appreciated on the recommendations and I'll keep an eye out on Finn for good second hand examples of those. I braved myself up to shooting in Cinestyle PF this last beautiful weekend and had a much easier time with the grading with it's slightly boosted shadows compared to CLOG, but obviously going to be personal preference on these - thanks for the encouragement on our channel too and for taking the time to have a look at a couple of our more recent videos too. Will add on insta ;)

    HDR mode doesn't work on the manual lens...

    • @RogerAVHansen
      @RogerAVHansen  3 роки тому

      That’s correct. On a manual lens the camera won’t have access to aperture, so it can not control all settings needed.

  • @meinwegalsproducer
    @meinwegalsproducer 3 роки тому

    you say the shutter speed changes, but in your example you highlighted the ISO changing, while shutter stays the same :D, i guess it probably would work nice if you shoot on a tripod without moving the camera, so that most of the video is a "still image". depending on the footage you could add a wiggle effekt using after effects later

    • @RogerAVHansen
      @RogerAVHansen  3 роки тому +1

      If you look at the video from 03:36 - 03:39 you see the shutter speed change from 1/50 to 1/100. I don’t see much use in this mode except shorter static clips, like you say, with the camera on a tripod. And if you’re a FCPX user like me you can just ad the “handshake” effect to the clip 😊
