I actually bought one of the GBA cases for my copy of Spyro 2: Season of Flame, and I really love the quality of it! It's just a shame it's kinda pricy to have one sent to somewhere outside of the US.
yea i live in germany and i tried to buy 3 n64 cases without covers and they cost me 30 bucks the shipping 20 bucks i just cant afford that so i just use universal game cases and ds cases
Late in the video, I originally pointed out what I assumed was a minor print quality problem. Hmm... Wish I'd discovered this video a little earlier than I discovered your video on the bitboxes... My childhood was more during the GameCube/Wii eras, but I largely grew up on a SNES and other assorted retro games. I only recently started actively collecting and decided it's high time I got proper cases for all those loose cartridges that are getting a little too dusty for my liking. But, I digress. I bought a pair of GameBoy Bitboxes for Kirby's Dreamland 2 and Metroid 2 as something of a test run to see if I like them, but I think these hard plastic DS-sized cases are more what I wanted. That said, I saw a comment further down that you prefer some of the bitboxes over these custom cases. I was wondering which of these two brands you might recommend for GameBoy, SNES, and N64? This is strictly my personal preference and I can't even articulate the reasons why I may prefer one over the other, but here it goes: Game Boy, Game Gear, Genesis - Custom Game Cases NES - BitBox SNES, N64 - BitBox, but only barely. The Custom Game Cases are very good. Those are my preferences, but I'd gladly recommend either product line. They are each very fine products. I hope you enjoy whatever you choose!

I pretty much think I'll be doing the same for my Virtual Boy and maybe my Game Gear games. Plus, I'll probably grab a few extras just to keep on hand.
I really like the CGC cases I got for my GB/GBC/GBA games. I didn't know they made Game Gear. I'll have to grab some of those! I've been tempted to switch to CGC for my NES because UGC cases have to be modified, but it's an expensive upgrade. I do like that CGC has clips for the manuals, though. I hope coverproject keeps adding more art for CGC cases. Thanks for the video!

I mean, how many Jaguar cases could they expect to sell? I don't have any Universal Game Cases, myself. My understanding is that they were created for business use (rental stores), and the collector market is sort of keeping them relevant. As far as I know they are designed to hold SNES, all Genesis cart styles, N64, and disc games. Are there any others that fit in there naturally?
Buying these for my NES, SNES and Sega Genesis games. Good way to store any loose games and shelving them afterwards is a nice way to show off your collection. Buying the original CIB (Complete In Box) games is too expensive.

Anyone have any issues with the SNES cases? Every one I own the 4 clips dont always clip around the cartridge, There is always one or 2 hanging off and it isnt snug in the holder. the clips that arent secure also tend to get stuck in the crack of the 2 halves of the cartridge

Thank you for the suggestion! But I prefer to give as much information as I can so people can decide for themselves. My opinion isn't as important since I don't actually use these cases for most of my loose cartridges. But I like most Custom Game Cases more, and for some games I actually prefer BitBoxes more.
I have bought some GBC and GBA cases that are just like the ones in the videos. For my copy of Yoshi's Topsy Turvy I used a European DS case to hold it, and even made a custom case art that fits this case size. How is the paper used? I know you said excellent print quality but is the printing nice on just regular paper, or is more of a glossy paper like the modern inserts that we get?
As far as I'm concerned it's very similar to the paper used in regular game releases. The printing is high resolution and it is a bit glossy. Not super high gloss, like a photograph or something, but very acceptable.
if i have the sonic and knuckles cart will it fit in the case? or do they have a certain design in the box that will allow only that certain type of cart to fit?
That is a good question. Just like original Genesis cases, Sonic & Knuckles will not fit in it without modification. If you have the means to cut a portion of the cartridge slot housing away, you can make it fit.
Thanks for the question! The HuCard does fit within the confines of the cartridge slot, but only loosely. It isn't held in place at all. Personally, my solution would be to use the GBA cases as they are more similar in size to original HuCard cases. They don't fit these slots either, but the game can be tucked under a manual clip in those cases to keep it secure. But that's just my opinion of course. Take care!
I think they are both great! These custom cases are extremely nice and can hold the instruction manual, but they are something like 5-6 times the price of cassette cases. So it's all up to what you like and what you can best afford.
I feel that the original protective cases are part of the "complete" game. I'm not a boxed collector but i do like having all the paperwork and any original dust covers. I'm reluctant to buy these because i don't want to keep boxes of original protectors set aside, i wish they made cases that accommodated all that so i could keep it all together. Do you have any thoughts on that?
Yes, I am actually on the same page with you there. All my Game Boy games have their cases, and any SNES game that included a dust cover when I purchased it, still has it. I currently store my game manuals separately from my cartridges, so in one sense these custom cases bring some parts of my collection closer together. But as you said, then I would have to store the original case/dust cover somewhere, because it isn't like I would get rid of them. At one point the owner of Custom Game Cases posted a poll to see what future case designs his customers would like. At least one of the options was redesigned cases that would accommodate a cover/dust sleeve (other options included EA Genesis game cases, etc.). It's a small consolation at this moment, but at least you know the owner is also aware that some people have this preference. To be frank, that's why I have no reservations being 'all in' on buying the Virtual Boy cases whenever they are restocked. That case doesn't conflict with the cartridge's dust cover at all! Do original Famicom games fit in any of these cases? I use CustomGameCases exclusively for cartridges so I've been trying to figure out which case best holds Famicom stuff, thanks!
Unfortunately, I don't have any Famicom cartridges to check that for you. Sorry. My understanding is that they are similar in size to Sega Genesis/Mega Drive cartridges, but again, that information is second hand.
While I wish the same, I also understand the limited appeal of custom cases for more niche game systems. I had good results using Stone Age Gamer's BitBox for less common games. You should check that video out as well.

The product looks great but the shipping cost for Europe is just crazy and doesn't stop getting alot higher even if you order a lot of them ... Cost of the case is doubled by the shipping, they should sell it abroad by amazon with normal shipping rates !
Yeah, it's too bad the owner doesn't have a way to sell out of other countries. His cases are produced in China and are sent all the way to the US for him to sell. If he had other outlets, he could sell to other continents as a more reasonable price.

Can't believe the shipping cost but bit the bullet and thought at least it doesn't cost _more_ than the cases themselves lol. I think I blew it on the few SNES ones I ordered tho not thinking that their cases would be for their square US SNES carts, whereas PAL SNES have the super famicom style carts so am not sure if they will fit in their cases. Do you know if UK/PAL SNES/Super Famicom carts fit in SNES boxes? I've asked them but aware I'll probably be waiting a while for an answer from what I've heard (which is fine, so long as it gets clarified/sorted before the order is shipped). I've asked them if there's any chance they can do the UK PAL version cover slips for at least Zelda OoT and MM if not all the other N64 ones I ordered (probs about 20 in all) if they're of comparable scan/print quality to the US ones as I prefer the PAL box art out of nostalgia (even tho this time round I'm playing on a modded NTSC-J system lol). I hope they can but won't be surprised if they say no. Will have to see!
@@Tom-qo4mz I have no idea I'm afraid, I ordered a bunch of blank Sega Megadrive cases, wasn't even aware that SNES and Famicom cartridges differed in size! I did see on Facebook that they're responding to social and emails again, so hopefully you'll get a response soon. In regard to cover artwork, I haven't ordered anything from these guys personally but from what I've seen their covers are pretty spot on. Alternatively, search for sad-alice on eBay. I've ordered several repro covers from there and they have all been excellent. 👍

They do sell blank cases as of now anyways. And it's only a dollar more for the artwork, I really dont feel that's unreasonable considering how much ink costs.
They are pretty nice. Since the N64 has a relatively small game count and a lot of nostalgia, a lot of collectors try for a full game set. The one thing you don't want to do is have a video game box that can hold different type of video game cartridge for different consoles it's not artistic enough I mean how you supposed to display that and then the cover of that box are you supposed to split it between the two different video games from different consoles or device? You see that makes no sense whatsoever one box one game one art that's it that's how it has to be no matter what otherwise what kind of collector are you?
As far as I know, Custom Game Cases sells their cases wholesale to other seller sites, who likely print their own covers. This includes Game Case King, and according to the pictures, Gaming Relics too. Regardless of which site you buy from, you should receive the same high build quality case.
As I mentioned, I don't have any other import games, but I'm told Famicom games fit well in Universal Game Cases, and might fit in the NES case and perhaps even the Sega Genesis cases. But I'm not currently aware of anyone selling specific Famicom game cases with a printed cover.

I have bought some GBC and GBA cases that are just like the ones in the videos. For my copy of Yoshi's Topsy Turvy I used a European DS case to hold it, and even made a custom case art that fits this case size. I only learned recently that Euro DS cases where a little thicker. I've never had a Euro DS game, so I didn't know.

How is the paper used? I know you said excellent print quality but is the printing nice on just regular paper, or is more of a glossy paper like the modern inserts that we get?
As far as I'm concerned it's very similar to the paper used in regular game releases. The printing is high resolution and it is a bit glossy. Not super high gloss, like a photograph or something, but very acceptable.
if i have the sonic and knuckles cart will it fit in the case? or do they have a certain design in the box that will allow only that certain type of cart to fit?
That is a good question. Just like original Genesis cases, Sonic & Knuckles will not fit in it without modification. If you have the means to cut a portion of the cartridge slot housing away, you can make it fit.
If you buy a sonic and knuckles genesis case with the cover art they will modify the case without you needing to request it
Does the gamegear cases fit turbografx/pc engine games? i noticed the bigger slot option
Thanks for the question! The HuCard does fit within the confines of the cartridge slot, but only loosely. It isn't held in place at all. Personally, my solution would be to use the GBA cases as they are more similar in size to original HuCard cases. They don't fit these slots either, but the game can be tucked under a manual clip in those cases to keep it secure. But that's just my opinion of course. Take care!

I think they are both great! These custom cases are extremely nice and can hold the instruction manual, but they are something like 5-6 times the price of cassette cases. So it's all up to what you like and what you can best afford.

I feel that the original protective cases are part of the "complete" game. I'm not a boxed collector but i do like having all the paperwork and any original dust covers. I'm reluctant to buy these because i don't want to keep boxes of original protectors set aside, i wish they made cases that accommodated all that so i could keep it all together. Do you have any thoughts on that?
Yes, I am actually on the same page with you there. All my Game Boy games have their cases, and any SNES game that included a dust cover when I purchased it, still has it.
I currently store my game manuals separately from my cartridges, so in one sense these custom cases bring some parts of my collection closer together. But as you said, then I would have to store the original case/dust cover somewhere, because it isn't like I would get rid of them.
At one point the owner of Custom Game Cases posted a poll to see what future case designs his customers would like. At least one of the options was redesigned cases that would accommodate a cover/dust sleeve (other options included EA Genesis game cases, etc.). It's a small consolation at this moment, but at least you know the owner is also aware that some people have this preference.
To be frank, that's why I have no reservations being 'all in' on buying the Virtual Boy cases whenever they are restocked. That case doesn't conflict with the cartridge's dust cover at all! Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment and I hope you enjoyed the video.

Do original Famicom games fit in any of these cases? I use CustomGameCases exclusively for cartridges so I've been trying to figure out which case best holds Famicom stuff, thanks!
Unfortunately, I don't have any Famicom cartridges to check that for you. Sorry. My understanding is that they are similar in size to Sega Genesis/Mega Drive cartridges, but again, that information is second hand.
pro tip for the GBA cases, put the game in upside down so the clamps aren't too hard on the cartridges

While I wish the same, I also understand the limited appeal of custom cases for more niche game systems. I had good results using Stone Age Gamer's BitBox for less common games. You should check that video out as well.

Custom cases help for better display, help to find games more easily, and for protection. But buying a lot of them adds up too.

While I'm unable to get the UniKeep cases due to painfully-calculated shipping rates, it seems like I am able to get these ones looking at those promising price totals. I'll consider getting a few of them soonish.

The product looks great but the shipping cost for Europe is just crazy and doesn't stop getting alot higher even if you order a lot of them ... Cost of the case is doubled by the shipping, they should sell it abroad by amazon with normal shipping rates !
Yeah, it's too bad the owner doesn't have a way to sell out of other countries. His cases are produced in China and are sent all the way to the US for him to sell. If he had other outlets, he could sell to other continents as a more reasonable price.
They are expensive to ship to the uk, but they are worth every penny. No better repro case out there.

I think I blew it on the few SNES ones I ordered tho not thinking that their cases would be for their square US SNES carts, whereas PAL SNES have the super famicom style carts so am not sure if they will fit in their cases. Do you know if UK/PAL SNES/Super Famicom carts fit in SNES boxes? I've asked them but aware I'll probably be waiting a while for an answer from what I've heard (which is fine, so long as it gets clarified/sorted before the order is shipped).
I've asked them if there's any chance they can do the UK PAL version cover slips for at least Zelda OoT and MM if not all the other N64 ones I ordered (probs about 20 in all) if they're of comparable scan/print quality to the US ones as I prefer the PAL box art out of nostalgia (even tho this time round I'm playing on a modded NTSC-J system lol). I hope they can but won't be surprised if they say no. Will have to see!
@@Tom-qo4mz I have no idea I'm afraid, I ordered a bunch of blank Sega Megadrive cases, wasn't even aware that SNES and Famicom cartridges differed in size! I did see on Facebook that they're responding to social and emails again, so hopefully you'll get a response soon. In regard to cover artwork, I haven't ordered anything from these guys personally but from what I've seen their covers are pretty spot on. Alternatively, search for sad-alice on eBay. I've ordered several repro covers from there and they have all been excellent. 👍

That's really cool! It's a pretty big case for such a small cart, but I still think it's awesome to celebrate a game like that.

Problem with CGC is they charge you up the ass for the printed art inserts. Until/Unless they sell just the cases, it's a waste of money.
They do sell blank cases as of now anyways. And it's only a dollar more for the artwork, I really dont feel that's unreasonable considering how much ink costs.

My fiancee has over 150 N64 games, this seems like a pretty good solution for them.
They are pretty nice. Since the N64 has a relatively small game count and a lot of nostalgia, a lot of collectors try for a full game set. So, Custom Game Cases has a listing for a full case set with limited edition white cases and matching white spines. They look like overgrown 3DS cases to be honest!

The one thing you don't want to do is have a video game box that can hold different type of video game cartridge for different consoles it's not artistic enough I mean how you supposed to display that and then the cover of that box are you supposed to split it between the two different video games from different consoles or device? You see that makes no sense whatsoever one box one game one art that's it that's how it has to be no matter what otherwise what kind of collector are you?
i would avoid buying the super game boy case from them. they sent me the wrong case 2 times in a row.

As far as I know, Custom Game Cases sells their cases wholesale to other seller sites, who likely print their own covers. This includes Game Case King, and according to the pictures, Gaming Relics too. Regardless of which site you buy from, you should receive the same high build quality case.

As I mentioned, I don't have any other import games, but I'm told Famicom games fit well in Universal Game Cases, and might fit in the NES case and perhaps even the Sega Genesis cases. But I'm not currently aware of anyone selling specific Famicom game cases with a printed cover.
