Free Mini Charm Pillow and Table Mat Pattern

- Today Sherri shares a free Mini Charm pillow/table mat pattern. She gives some tips and tricks for constructing these projects and also discusses two different versions that can be made for either the pillow or the table mat. There is a fun Grandmother's Flower Block version that can be easily substituted as a centerpiece for either of these projects. This pattern came to be when Sherri was asked to design a small project pattern to display on the cover of the Moda Piece catalog for the release of the Strawberry Lemonade fabric line. I have been looking for a hand sewing project, as my husband just had a double lung transplant and I need something to keep me busy while visiting him in the hospital? This is going to do the trick. I'm going to make the pillow for myself and a set of placemats for my step-daughter. Making them now with scraps that match the Strawberry Lemonade colors and probably make myself a set of placemats when the fabric line comes out this winter as well

OMG such a BEAUTIFUL project and of course the fabric is stunning. I shall make both of these - I shall download your pattern as I live in England and I do not think any of our Haberdashery shops will hold you fabric or pattern - how remiss of them hee hee. Cute project. I would have quilted the piece before I trimmed anything off the outer edge because quilting shrinks the piece slightly. Thanks for linking the pillow form you used. I’ve been searching for recommendations for good inserts because I want to make some pillows to give as gifts.

Just a thought, I find it easier to stay stitch before doing that trim. I find that way gives me more control of the fabric

I am falling in love with your hexi flowers. I recently saw in one of your pics a hexi flower that looked as though you made into a mug rug. I still learning new techniques and I am wondering if you can show how you finish a hexi flower to turn it into a mug rug and still keep the hexi shape rather than appliqué it on a square piece of fabric?
