Great directions and info - thank you for sharing!
I'm currently working on packing up my sewing room for a move. Sew excited to get to the other side and set up my new space. Thanks for sharing your quilts
oH BOY! tHANKS FOR THIS, i'VE BEEN DROOLING OVER THE IDEA OF MAKE SOMETHING IN JUST REDS ORANGE PEEL....THIS LOOKS LIKE THE TICKET FOR ME
That is so pretty! Ah, so many quilting projects, so little time! *Adds to list of projects 🤣
Thank you Sherri for the tutorial. I've been using cereal boxes for over 30 years to make templates. I was taught this method from a senior lady that had been quilting for about 60 years. Helen was my quilting mentor and I still miss her so much since she passed away in 2015.
Morning Sherri. The orange peel has been on my bucket list of wanting to do. This seams to be a doable project. ❤ Thanks for sharing.
so beautiful...my fav applique❤
Thank you for pdf. Ronei from Brasil. Kisses
Nice pattern & demo keeping it simply, thanks for sharing. 👍❤️😊
I really like your background fabrics. I have made several orange peel quilts and never thought of using low volume print background fabrics.
You are so delightful, I am so thankful for your example. What would we do without those folks who have so kindly taught us so much! Thank you.
Thank you for showing how to cut and using the freezerpaper.
Спасибо большое за мастер класс прекрасно.Будьте здоровы и счастливы, удачи.
Congratulations on doing your goal. This would be a great project to take on our c a moping trip.
Thank you so much for the pattern and tutorial. After watching this I decided I'm going to try it.😊
Thank you ❤❤
Now my husband will have to eat more cereal! Loved the video and wanted to tell you, that you have one of those great voices to talk and teach. Some voices are so bland, but you have a lot of accentuation in yours and it keeps people wanting to come back to hear you.
😂
I am definitely going to try this method. Thank you!👍🏻💫
I haven't tried doing an orange peel before, but with your instructions I feel it is a doable adventure. When I took my first quilting class (1992) we made our templets using graph paper and we glued sandpaper to the back of the templets so they would not slip as we marked the cutting and sewing lines on fabrics. It's good to know some of the older methods are still being used from time to time. Thanks for the tutorial.
I learned this technique from Amy as well, when she still had her quilt shop. Thanks for the refresher!! I really, really enjoyed this podcast.
Thanks for another great tutorial!
So you coerced me into hexies and I went crazy and made the Emma's Flower Garden Quilt and now I'm loving these orange peels! 🍊 lol Thank you so much for the tutorial and now I'm off to print and make templates!
Thank you Sherri for the tutorial. I am always interested in learning new sewing techniques and anything that has to do with quilting!😊
Loved this tutorial thanks for sharing my Mother hand appliquéd a lot during her quilting making life but she did not know all the modern techniques we have now. I always thought looked so hard. Your video makes me want to try it out on something small first before I try so thank you again. Have a blessed day.
Thank you for this quick tutorial, like you I have wanted to do this style but it tends to be .. oh I’ll try that next .. and next never comes lol. BUT doing the hand method means it can be picked up at anytime which is great. This will be a fun summer project..
Thank you so much for the video and congrats on your accomplishment of making your orange peel project . This is a lot of steps to get the orange peels ready to appliqué down. I think you could appreciate if you invest in a electronic cutter such as a Brother Scan N Cut it would make your appliqué life soooo! much easier and faster to accomplish. Putting heat and bond on the back of the fabric and cut out as many shapes at one time as needed sounds like the way to go to me when doing appliqué. And thank you so much for the free pattern I also enjoy your channel.
Good tutorial, I was curious on how you did the points, you made it look easy. Thanks for sharing! Another teacher I had in past was to use silk thread and it literally disappeared.
Thank you for all the tips on making this pillow❤ love your fabrics❤
Thank you for this video. I’m going to put it on my list to make. I love your pillow method. I’ve probably made as many as you now.😂
Thank you so much. ❤️

Thank you for sharing with us. I haven't done this one yet and I really want to try now. I really love how you write your patterns easy to follow and beautiful outcomes.
Thank you for the great tutorial. I just finished an orange peel project and I really enjoyed it, but I would like to try the method you demonstrated because your results look so great.
Great instructional video! Needed a project for a trip I'm going on. Can't sit around at night without doing something with my hands, this will be perfect. Printed out your PDF, now looking for a cereal box to cut up. Love your pillow, so fun. You make everything look so easy. Thanks!
Thank you!
This is going to be my goal this year to try 🍄
I purchased the orange peel template from Missouri Star Company. I wanted to simplify this process so I’ll be using interfacing and turn them out then appliqué.
That's how I do mine too
Hi Sherri, thank you for the video, great tips on how to make my own orange peel pillow and especially the pattern. I’m going to give it a try. Good luck with your quilt project, although I don’t think you’ll need it judging by your pillow. 🙂
Thank you. I also learned with cereal boxes.
I can’t wait to do a orange peal quilt, going to do a pillow first. But this looks like so much fun! Thank you for sharing how you make these blocks! 😍
Instead of sandpaper, use an emery board and give the edges a swish! Beautiful project
Thank you so much for sharing such a fun project 😊 Do you match the thread to the peel or do you use a neutral thread for all blocks that just blends in?
Thank you for the pattern. Also where can I find pattern for quilt on the ladder with the colored blocks?
Do you use silk thread to hand appliqué?
no...I just use Aurifil 50 weight. Sometimes I use a lighter weight Aurifil cotton depending on the fabric.
Love the pillow, but is there a pattern available for the square in square pattern on the ladder to your right? I looked in your Etsy shop but couldn’t find it. help????? Thx😊
Thankyou for tutorial. Just one question. What needle do you like to use for applique?
Your link for pillow pattern takes me to an administration login on your blog.....weird? Just me? Great pillow love the idea thanks so much
Same, but link through her blog works for access to the cute pattern.
So sorry about that The link is correct now.
@A Quilting Life no worries, that's life, just thought you'd like to know have a great day!
what is the name of the quilt to your right on the ladder...the lower one made of coloured blocks. I can't seem to find it on your website.
I am looking for that also!
Good morning. I’d love to download the free pattern. I cannot find it. Can you help me please? It will be first orange peel project and I’m making pillow shams for Christmas gifts.
