What's something that YOU only own one of? Please like this video + comment with your thoughts. 👉 Tips on how to own less here: ua-cam.com/video/mrv8ED71C18/v-deo.html
Some of things I only have one of is a leather wallet, a sling bag, a rubber shoes, charger, a swimwear, a towel, a bear, and a dollar 🤭 Just kidding! Btw, Having an intention to have a minimalist home is quite tough and I can say that this video indeed helpful for me as someone who is recently passionate about minimizing the stuff i own. Thank you for all the videos about minimalism lifestyle marissa! you're such a great inspiration 💖
To own less you can concider to do laser surgery to your eyes. So you dont need contact lenses or glasses any more. I heard this from another minimalist and it has so many benefits like not having pain behind the ears or on the nose from the glasses and no need to take the contact-lense-stuff with you. It also helps the environment for not longer buying the lense fluids.
I own 1 purse, 1 pair of heeled boots and 1 pair of ankle boots, 1 swimsuit, 1 TV/Xbox as I don't have multiple gadgets, 1 headband for skincare, 1 microfibre flannel for skincare, I own 2 pairs of earrings. I own 1 item of makeup product that I have. I own 1 mirror. I own a winter and summer coat but they were handed down to me, are years old and are Mountain Warehouse. It's always best to spend lots of money on an item that will last years!🙂
We definitely have multiple sheets! Especially when kids are still in the Kindergarten stage. My two kids had severe abdominal influenza for multiple days and also infected my wife and I later. Without multiple sets of sheets we wouldn’t have survived 😂
I have 2 sets of sheet per bed for same reason above, when sick have alternate pair. I love good sheets and they last me for years. I love top and bottom sheets, so comfy.
Even with our kids grown I wouldn't want to have only one set of sheets. Having to be sure that they are laundered and dried in time would just be another stressor. I don't want to be stuck doing laundry on a day when I need or want to be doing something else.
Gosh, there’s only me here now and I could never handle just one set of sheets and duvet covers. I think I have about 4 cotton sets (fitted, flat, pillow slips) with matching duvet covers and I have two or maybe three winter sheet sets. Yes, I have a problem. I’m addicted to linen 😂
I have an extra sheet & pillow case. This way if something happens in the middle of the night (getting sick etc) I can make a quick sheet change without having to wash anything. Also, when I wash my bedding, I immediately put the other sheet on the bed without having to wait for the washing machine. It makes the bed-prepping quick and complete. Once the bedding being washed is dry, it goes in a tote under the bed for next time. This is a good example of how we can have similar minimalist mindsets, but use different techniques to fit with our family's needs. I love your channel.
This definitely what I do, I know that sometimes I can't complete the full task within the day so I prefer to change the sheets with a second pair and it's fine if I don't have the energy to do the bed later, it's already done 🥰
We don't own a dryer, it takes a looong time for the sheets to air dry. I also generally like to do laundry at night. 2-3 sets of sheets for every bed is what works for us, seems to be very common according to comments :D
As a woman who suffers with frequent night sweats, #1 was quite shocking. Today, of all days, I had to change my pajama top twice! Sometimes I'll even have to immediately change the linens, because they're drenched. Needless to say, I could never. It's so interesting to see what works for each minimalist :)
Not everyone likes the flat sheet between person and blanket, but it does serve a purpose: it's easier to wash a flat sheet than to wash a bulky quilt/bedcover. Increases life span of the bedcovers!
My three youngest children (aged 1-4) have only one, 4-drawer chest of drawers. They have a drawer each and share the fourth for underwear and socks. It helps me to limit the clothing they have and, controversially for some people I know, we keep it in the living room. I found that I was constantly running up and down the stairs to look for clean items after nappy changes or meals or accidents and clothes would pile up downstairs waiting to go up and be put away - this totally removed all that stress...❤
I LOVE these suggestions! Even if a person chooses to have two of something, your ideas make people really think about trying to live with a bit less of a lot of things. I think most people will actually cut back to just one of something after watching this. Thanks for the motivation!
I have 2 pair of jeans because it seems they take forever to dry when hanging out. Also for jeans worn out at the knees, I have 2 pair for summer that I cut off at the knees, pressed the length I like and hemmed.
As someone who cooks and bakes a lot (and has a small-ish kitchen), I have a lot of mixing bowls in various sizes as I like to have everything set up 'mise en place' to make cooking easier, faster and stress-free. They don't take up a lot of space because they're all lightweight stainless steel and nestle into each other neatly when stored so it's the same footprint as one large bowl. They're also durable, and super easy and quick to clean and dry.
I like how everybody has different needs based on their lifestyle. I saw comments from people who have valid reasons to own more than one sheet set. I personally only own one set of linens. It makes sense for my lifestyle. It’s a good reminder that what works for some, doesn’t work for me and vice versa.
One purse. I used to keep my old purse when I bought a new one, "just in case," but I decluttered them all recently. Oh wait. I have a soft velvet bag (my sister made it and copied embroidery from a jacket my grama made for me when I was little). I take it for evenings out because it hangs off my wrist and I don't have to put it down. I'll call that one day bag, one evening bag.
I appreciate that you are still sharing minimalism content, no matter the trends. I'm all for being responsive to conversation trends, but minimalism and frugal living are core approaches that give value to my life.
I wanted to comment on something you said, nothing to do with minimalism. You said regarding your jeans that you have the "problem of a smaller waist and big hip and legs" . This is not a problem, you are built like a grown woman, not a boy or a child! That being said, thank you for your channel it helps me with my clutter and wanting to have a back-up of almost everything!
the most minimalist thing I've ever done, probably, is only having one winter coat between me and my mother - it just so happens that she despises cold temperatures and always dresses up very warm while I'm the complete opposite and so the one coat that I wear in the winter months is the one she finds suitable for spring and autumn, and we both somehow like the style of it. And to top it all off, it's a hand-me-down from a friend
😄my mom and I just finished going through our excess linen. She is not a minimalist, but I'm proud of her for taking a step towards decluttering out what is not needed. 😊
I love how you always share what works for you as ideas for us, but always recognize things might be different for everyone. I love that. Having 6 soon to be 7 kids, it looks different at my house, but i have loved decluttering my home to make my life simpler and easier to manage things. Thank you!
I've been a minimalist my whole adult life, decided i want a few more things. I used to have no pics or art on the walls, now started adding some. Used to have only 1 bedsheet per bed, one towel per person and very little clothes. Decided now I'm a bit over that since having a child. I want to now have at least two sets of curtains for each living space, luxurious bedsheets and towels and to be able to change the look of the house with these different items. I want more clothes definitely and more cutlery and crockery, at least to be able to actually host 20 people and not need to revert to paper plates and plastic knives and forks
Yes! Someone else who only has one set of sheets. I love not having to fold them! Although, I actually do own 2 sets: one cotton and one flannel since we live in a colder climate. The cotton ones are used from May through October-ish and the flannel are used October through April. I do keep a pair of backup glasses in the glove box of my car. I figure that if something happens to my glasses, I am still able to drive myself home with the pair from the glove box, even if that is an older prescription. Also, since my vision insurance only covers new frames every other year, that backup pair can be used to get the new lenses and I can still use my current glasses while waiting for the new Rx. Then the current glasses become the backup pair in the glove box.
Abercrombie and Fitch has a “curve love” line that incorporates a slimmer waist and room for your hips. I remember them from years ago and I’ve been meaning to go back after having kids and see which size to get. Lucky and Levi also used to have them but I haven’t checked in several years. ❤️ I use only one bag - a small Herschel backpack. I have about 3 or 4 other purses that I’ve not used in years but they’re sentimental and I’ll probably never get rid of.

trading with an expert is the best strategy and also profitable, Newbies who are not aware of how crypto truly works and wish to make profits from it, I would advise to invest with a professional like Fergus waylen, It helps secure and minimize the possibilities of losses.
I'm honestly surprised that this name is being mentioned here, I stumbled upon one of his clients testimony last two months in CNBC world news and decided to try him out...I'm Expecting my third cashout in 2days
I think the thing that sticks out most to me from your list is the back-up glasses since I don't wear contacts. I actually went through all of my glasses a couple weeks ago, I probably had 20 pairs. I'm down to 3 extras now, one each for home, car and work. I've actually been out with friends, messing around, and destroyed the glasses I was wearing. 😅
On the topic of the cardigan: If you want to maintain it for longer, there is a little trick to keep the elbows from going threadbear. If you wear nylons, then don't throw them out right away. Cut out a largish oval and sew it to the elbow area on the inside of the sleeve. It works like a charm. Most people don't realize, that it's your elbows rubbing from the inside that makes the fabric wear out. Of course, you could always go the English Country route and sew leather patches on the outside ;-)
We have two of bed sheets and I find it useful especially when kids are sick or there is an accident (as my younger one is not fully potty trained yet :)). But I have also only one pair of high heels. I have one pair of shoes for a season. I have 2 pair of jeans but they are the exact same pair. So I can wear one and wash the other one. I have only one t-shirt, but again more pieces of the same t-shirt. I have one bag. One pair of shorts, the best one. :D We have no TV. :D For example my kids have only one winter jacket. They had 2 last winter but I used the second one only once when the first one was really dirty from a mud play. So this past winter I got them only one jacket each.
I have the same body type as you and the Madewell curvy jeans are literal perfection 😁 They have been the only jeans that give me the perfect rise I want, no gaping in the waist, but enough room in the hips. I've thrifted a couple pairs off the internet for a fraction of the cost!
I didn't mention those because they are so pricey, but I never thought of looking for used ones- moment of stupidity I guess, thanks for the great idea!
I really needed this! I've been feeling a bit up and down with my space recently and have started decluttering my room again. I do it quite a bit but I'm doing a full room revamp. Also, personally for me I need more than 1 set of bedding. With dogs and cats, hair and mud can be an issue😂I don't own any high heels I own 1 pair of heeled boots and normal ankle boots which I spent a lot of money on and will last me years and I've had my heeled boots for 3/4 years. I own one winter coat and a summer coat which was passed down to me so they are years old and in really good condition. They're Mountain Warehouse coats. I do have 2 trench coats as they're more sophisticated and look nice. I also have a gillet. That sounds like a lot but I get wear out of all of them and use them all. I own 3 pairs of leggings and 3 pairs of jeans and have very limited amount of tops/going out tops etc. I only have 3 cardigans. I have 2 zip up hoodies and I have 2 pair of work trousers and 3 shirts. Realistically it's not actually much. It sounds a lot reading it, but visually my clothes barely take up space. My snoodie takes up all the room!😂💕
I own two of everything that is a necessity, including a winter coat. Also have a spare of every sundry item that I use everyday, ie, deodorant, toothpaste, etc. But not more than 2. This works for me.
Hello, Marissa! I am so glad that I found you when I needed the most. Me and my husband are expecting a baby boy and we’re trying to live a more minimalist lifestyle, thus your videos are exactly what we need. Thank you so much for that! We own more than one bed sheets but this is because we are the kind of people who have guests over the night regularly so it fits our lifestyle. I wear eyeglasses and I only have one pair, when I decide to change them I usually recycle them and get a discount for a new pair, anyways I am not a fan of fast fashion in general so I usually keep them for more years and only change the lens if needed. Congrats for everything and good luck with your plans! Thank you so much for all the inspiration!
We only own one carving knife. We also only have one set of towels and sheets that we wash every week. I have only grown up with one tv, so it would be weird for me to have more than one. I love my high rise Levi’s 😊
I've mostly worn my Levi's all winter. They are highrise and just a tad roomy and have been loving tucking shirts in. I have a couple Calvin Klein jeans that always look good & a bit more form fit. They are flare style. I bought them second hand. I have a smaller waist to hip/butt, also.
The sheets really can be a surprising one for people!! We have one per adult bed. And 3 for our two kids (1&3yo) so one per bed plus a spare. I found linen closets to have a unique scent thats never been my favorite. I prefer the freshly washed smell so I wash and dry same day but have a backup for the boys. Really love your channel and agreed with tons of your Only-One item
I appreciate your saying what works for you for minimalism isn't necessarily what works for others. I've only every had one vacuum cleaner. I was shocked how many people I know have many. Turns out those folks are mostly retirees living in the home their raised their children in and, with their declining physicality, find it easier to have one vacuum cleaner on each level of their homes. That makes sense to me. I have more physical strength than storage space or money so I have one vacuum cleaner I move around with me. :-)
After moving from an apartment to a house, I discovered the usefulness of having a second vacuum cleaner. We are physically fit but the house is older and the stairs quite steep and not very wide, so I prefer not dragging a heavy tool up and down too often. Also, making it less effort to vacuum means I will vacuum more often! 😅
I recommend Betabrand dress pant yoga pants. You order with different configurations - length, width, skinny/boot/flare/etc. They’re super comfy like yoga pants but look like dress pants … I found them 5 years ago when I started working in an office that had a dress code (a dinosaur age thing, I know). But I still have the first pair I ordered. And they now have the one with a ton of pockets 🎉
One set of sheets with no dryer, I’m impressed. Impressed that you can have them washed and dried within the day and that your children haven been sick multiple days.
Glad this works for you. I will take a hard pass on one set of sheets, not having a back up pair of eyeglasses, not having more than one mixing bowl, pair of jeans, and so on. I definitely have stuff I need to get rid of, but I not that stuff. To answer your question: I have one TV which many think is strange, but it works for me.
Look into Lasik!! I got it 13 years ago, no regrets 😁 also I have 1 pair of jeans, high waisted stretchy from Maurice's. Even the waistband is stretchy so they're really comfortable.
I agree with the Lasik. I had surgery 25 years ago and still perfect sight. From minute 1 you will be able to see all the antennas and leaves on the trees in your city. Amazing ! I only use sunglasses 😎👙🌴
Thanks for helping us living a more mindful relationship with our belongings! I also own only one of most of these items, except for jeans, cardigans and bed sheets, which I own 2-3. I also use one detergent for almost every household cleaning, don't own microwave, tablet nor laundry dryer, and try to keep my kids' toy supply near to essential.
Truth be told I couldn't think of anything I have only one of, but lots I only have two of. Years ago I did give up on keeping a linen closet full of stuff. I keep one spare set of sheets and one extra blanket in a zippered container under each bed. But I am a senior and have more energy in the morning so I like to remove the sheets and put a new one on right then.
Here on the east coast if Canada i think most people only have one winter coat. Maybe this is a good way to explain minimalism to someone who may have questions! I need to have lots of mixing bowls for harvesting my 3000 square foot garden. I think I have enough now but for a while I was happy to find more at the thrift stores because I was always using odd containers to bring in the harvest like cardboard boxes and laundry baskets. I definitely prefer having the nesting stainless steel ones and the bigger the better! I like that they all fit into each other even the ones that are the same size.
Choose a cardigan in a vibrant colour like a warm red..that will also go with most colours and bring some fun to your life. Good to be frugal but no need to be dull !
Hahaa, yes, the headband. 😁 I'm the same. And I own two sets of bedding only because here in the UK it rains most time of year and they don't dry as quickly as in your case. 🌞 Also, no dryer. Yay! 😁😁
Extra sheets and spare glasses are a must for us. Kinda goes with the territory of being pregnant while running after a grabby toddler. 😄 I keep stock like cleaning supplies, kitchen tools, and less frequently used items pretty pared down to 1 at a time, though.
I have had 2 kids in glasses for 10 years and never had a spare. We had a scare once or twice with lost glasses. We've never had 2 because they are SO expensive.
Very true about the bed linens, yet I have to confess I have several and it's FUN to see and feel a different set. I feel like it's a small harmless treat.😢
You are so non-judgmental and calming to listen to. You helped me today, listening to you for the first time, realize that looking through a lot of the accumulation of things that are from the past, that they somehow are difficult for me to let go of, because that stuff is so attached to the memories of people I loved. You understand the emotions can be related to the situation. I just subscribed and am so thankful as I begin this process, I'm feeling your support. Thank you!!
I am watching your channel since a couple of months. Owning only one of something often gave me a bit of anxiety. Thanks to you now i feel much more comfortable about that 😊
6:39 sounds like we have a similar figure! I’ve had great luck with Everlane’s 90s cheeky or way high jeans. They are made in the US and last forever. Also pretty dang easy to find on places like Poshmark once you are confident in your size!
I too have one of those figures where my lower back goes in but hips are wide. Liz Claiborne used to have a petites line of jeans that fit well, but when those changed I found that Gloria Vanderbilt had a good line too. The “Amanda” jean has worked well for me so far.
We “had” a lot of sheets. We finally declutter them and only kept 3. One for winter thicker material to keep warm, spring, and summer. We have 2 comforter.
Idk why I was so shocked when you said you have one bowl and use pots when you need more. I literally never thought of that! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
I have a waist 12" smaller than my hips, so I get that. I prefer the Sophia brand at Walmart, but Aerie has a "curvy" line and so does Abercrombie- their curve love jeans. I just love the way your present your choices, it helps me stay mindful. I need two sets of sheets, since menopause has me sweating through them in the middle of the night more often than I would like.
Try bamboo sheets and bedwear. I was having horrible night sweats and discovered bamboo underwear helped so much. I get those on Amazon & also nightshirts or slips.
I have to have two sets of sheets for the beds that are used daily - one to use and one to wash. Sometimes I can't get to the wash the day we need to change the sheets, or if you're sick you sometimes need fresh sheets without also having to do laundry. A trick if you are short on storage space is to store the unused set under the mattress of the bed they fit. Lay them flat between the mattress and box spring or platform.
The one surprising thing for me was that you only have one mixing bowl! I have three sets of mixing bowls, and I use all of them, and for some things I'll be using three at a time. I like having the different sizes. I have one computer -- a laptop -- and for me it functions as TV, radio, and regular computer functions. I love not having a TV for many reasons, but especially because I'm NOT a minimalist when it comes to hanging things on the wall -- every wall I have is a gallery wall!
The mixing bowl surprised me too. Same as you, we have several in different sizes and use them all the time, every day, and sometimes several at the same time. But we do not use them only to mix, also for the microwave, for salad, for snacks, basically any occasion where a bowl makes more sense than a plate. I can probably get rid of some of the very large ones, but the medium and smaller ones are in constant use.
I have three bowls for the Kitchen aid and often use all three and they are all in the dishwasher together! Depends on how you cook. I also usually have at least four spatulas or turners in the dishwasher by day’s end.
When I had young kids, I needed more items. Now that they are grown, I feel like one set of linens per bed is enough. I love shoes, but now that work has gone to casual, I don’t need as many, so cut down my collection. I agree about the bowls! Too much storage space is used. I like to keep in mind that we may need to move to a condo, so I keep that in mind when I declutter. Thanks again for the video.
I know I am commenting late to this post and I am a new follower but since you are in the states now, you might want to try the EVERLANE jeans. They are very comfortable and they have a pair that is specifically made for small waisted and larger hip ratios. I love just about everything I have ever purchased from them because the quality is so good. They are also very transparent about where the clothing is made and how much it costs them to produce it. Hope this helps.
I also eliminated our spare linens. I do find the top sheet essential, though. Ours are a nice heavy cotton and seen to cling to the blankets so they don't shift. The top sheet saves me having to wash the blankets as often. I got rid of ALL of my heels recently in exchange for a pair of low heeled pointy sling backs that look really elegant.
I was taught that you need three sets of sheets for each bed: one on the bed, one in the laundry and one in the linen closer. As for glasses, I always keep the old ones.
I just repaired my jeans and it was so simple! I walk a lot and wear skinny jeans almost everyday, so I always get rips in the crotch from chub rub. I bought denim patches and ran a stitch up and down the patch so it won't peel off. Easy peasy, and I can keep my favorite jeans so much longer now!
Lee Women's Midrise Bootcut Jeans at Walmart are Amazingly comfortable with some stretch to them. Making moving around and sitting on a full stomach incredibly comfortable. My favorite jeans I have EVER purchased.
I think your list makes sense of why to own one of each of those items. I have the same (one item of all that you mentioned exactly too). I don't have a headband though. Great list. I have always struggled with jeans because I am tall with a small waist but very large hips (usually 12 to 13 inches bigger than my waist). I have found that Lucky Brand fits me well. You asked what your viewers may have one of that maybe others don't have. I do have one drawer to fit all my clothes in which is actually attached to the bottom of my bed (my husband has one drawer too on the bed, but our sons who used to have one small drawer each, we just got a dresser for so I think they have two drawers each now but they aren't full). We have one couch. I have one purse/bag. I used to not even have one of those for a while and just carried my wallet around everywhere. . so my purse is very bare haha. I am sure I have one of other things too but it is hard to think of them on the spot. There are a lot of things I go without that a lot of people have too.
I have two sets of bed linen, one on the bed , one in the wash. I'm in the U.K where driers aren't necessarily the norm, most people with outside space will line dry. It's a damp maritime climate so getting sheets washed and dried in the same day isn't always reality.
R8ch B, Somewhat similar weather in Ireland. We've had so much rain lately I can't remember the last fine day. Just wouldn't make sense only having 1 set of bed linen or towels. I don't have a dryer, but with cost of electricity its enough to just run the washing machine.
Hi Marissa. I also have only one pair of glasses although I don't have backup contact lenses. Every time you stress the point of no closets in your flat and therefore the challenge of enough storage space - you say that the age of 100 years would be the reason for the zero build-in storage. But that isn't he reason at all! It's a "German or even European reason" ! It's extremely rare that German houses have build-in closets. Sometimes there is one "Abstellkammer" or "Besenkammer" or "Haushaltsraum" if you are lucky but that's not the rule rather the exception. In newer build single family houses you will find mostly a "Haushaltsraum" or "Speisekammer" near the kitchen. But normally even in these houses there is no closet for the bedrooms/bathrooms or the linens or the coats like in the US.
Next time you get glasses, ask about indexing. It costs more, but you can select any frame anywhere. Worth it to me for someting I wear on my face all day every day.
Just a friendly suggestion on jeans. I have a similar shape as you and I have found Loft Curvy jeans fit me well, are comfortable and last a long time. They are my favorite! I usually purchase them gently used or at the outlet store near by.
RE the jeans - Peachay is an Australian label that designs jeans for smaller waists and bigger hips / bum, small business, ethically made in small amounts in Melbourne, Australia, couldn’t recommend enough!! I have 2 pairs
Love this video so much and so inspired to evaluate what we really need and use! We also only have one set of sheets per bed! ALSO for jeans - Everlane jeans now has a curvy line for the smaller waist and bigger hips, and they are sustainable ethically made quality jeans!
Girl! I had thicker eyeglasses than yours. I got lasik surgery and that was such a game charger in my life. I still have 20/20 or close to 20/20 for the last 20 years. It’s the best decision ever!! You need to do that too! You don’t have to suffer with contacts and glasses anymore
I have one of all of these except headband and linen. I have two sets of linen because we have such humid days it can take longer for stuff to dry where we are and my head bands and scarves make me so happy so I have about 10 altogether. Inusr them all so noone sits lonely on the hanger for long. Your explanations are so wonderful to listen to. I really appreciate how open you are and how many ideas you have!
@@theresaanndiaz3179 Clever! We are in a small space with min solar so I rely on the sun and wind a lot! Feb is the worst month but luckily we always have a breeze coming from the ocean to help the process along. 💃🏼💜🌍
We like a sheet between us and the blanket. This aids in not having to wash the heavy blanket or duvet as often. Reducing myself to one pair of pants on purpose would never do. That would be asking for accidents to happen. I may not need two potato mashers or that extra blender in the cabinet, but jeans? Three is a more practical number for something I wear every day. This is all subjective and different for everyone. Thank you for keeping us conscious of what we own.
Levi's! I have a similar shape and Levi's are great for your figure. They are also very durable and classic in style. I also love that they have extreme high waist options.
I have the same jeans challenge as you (small waist and big hips and thighs) and I can really recommend Nudie Jeans! I also only own 1 pair of jeans and they will forever be Nudie. They are not cheap, but they are made very sustainably and really last forever. They also offer lifetime repairs which is great for those of us who are hard on our jeans!
I have one pair of sunglasses, one jacket, that works for winter and colder months of autumn and spring. In household I have some single items too, because me and my husband live in a 26 square meters apartment 😅 My mom’s generation used to collect a lot of bedsheets, towels, dinner sets, etc., because behind the “Iron Curtain” they were not so easily available. People would buy just because they would get a chance. And jeans at that time were kind of illegal, you could only get them on a “black market”.
I only own two pairs of jeans: both are from Everlane, they are the authentic stretch in mid-rise and one in high-rise. I've had them for at least 4 years and still fit and look great! Bonus too that they are transparent with pricing and opt for ethical factories. 🙂
I own two sets of sheets, however I will wash, dry and put the same ones back on the bed. I keep the second set for occasional visiting grandchild. The same goes for bath towels, two … wash and replace. I have reduced so many items in my kitchen, but still have a whole set of 3 mixing bowls which I rarely use, kept on a high shelf, not yet ready to part with them. I have a medium size mixing bowl with a handle, left from my grandmother, that satisfies most every need. I love your wisdom concerning minimizing things that you own. You have helped me become more mindful of the things I really don’t need. I too have limited storage space. Another of my motivators is recognizing my season of life, there are a lot of things I do not need, nor do I want my children to be burdened with them after I’m gone. I look forward to all your videos.
I don't know where you got the idea from that your frame options are limited for your glasses, but as someone who spent 14 years making glasses for a living, you CAN have cute stylish frames. If you have progressives, all you need to do is make sure there is enough depth for your distance, intermediate and reading, but there are lens options for that. Honestly, I think smaller frames work best for high prescriptions because it it's a plus, it won't have to be as thick in the middle or if it's a minus there won't be as thick on the sides. The biggest thing is that a high minus won't work as well in a frame that has a high curve (like wrap sunglasses - but technology has evolved where even then the range is higher) and might not be ideal for a rimless frame, but you have options!
Many of us on the west coast have a grab-and-go bag. We've only been evacuated once (and everything turned out to be fine in our town, albeit smoky and ashy) but I had everything I needed for a couple of unplanned days out of town. My bag has a pair of jeans, sweatshirt, t-shirt, set of underwear, old rain jacket, pair of socks, etc., plus basic toiletries and a few other emergency items. There have been occasions when I needed a clean clothing item and dug into the bag for it. It's a way to have extras of some items on hand without taking up bedroom closet or dresser space. The emergency bag is stored with camping gear. P.S. No TV. Rather be gardening, swimming, reading, and a host of other activities.
I’m not a minimalist (but working my way towards less clutter) and I have always had only one sheet set and have been told I’m crazy for only having one, but it’s served me well, just never have space for more than that. No linen closets.
Husband 😅
It's always best to spend lots of money on an item that will last years!🙂
I like your gray chair. I have seen a different style at Home Goods but prefer yours.
Can you share who sells the one you have? Thanks
A set on the bed, a set in the wash, a set in the closet.
I’ve read it is good to alternate your sheet sets so the fibers last longer, so I think 2 sets minimum.
Thank you ☺️
Obviously you have never had sick animals or children, or even yourself.
This definitely what I do, I know that sometimes I can't complete the full task within the day so I prefer to change the sheets with a second pair and it's fine if I don't have the energy to do the bed later, it's already done 🥰
I have two sets-that way I’m not struggling to get the sheets and blankets dry before bedtime.
Saaaame
Not everyone likes the flat sheet between person and blanket, but it does serve a purpose: it's easier to wash a flat sheet than to wash a bulky quilt/bedcover. Increases life span of the bedcovers!
We hate them! We just wash the duvets 😅. No one in our home has a “flat” aka top sheet.
We have two sets of sheets per bed. A flannel pair for winter and a cotton pair for summer. Works really well❤️
Same here. :)
I only have one swimsuit. I used to have a bunch but I always found myself gravitating towards the one that was most flattering and functional!
The clothes being in a chest of drawers in your main living space is a great idea.
One purse. It's black with the correct number of outside pockets, so good for all purse needs situations. One swimsuit.
Yes, one purse and one swimsuit!
Same!
Thanks for sharing!
For me, with small kids in daycare, extra sheets are must-to-have when a stomach bug is circling around, at least twice a year 😅
😄my mom and I just finished going through our excess linen. She is not a minimalist, but I'm proud of her for taking a step towards decluttering out what is not needed. 😊
I hope she didn't end up with just 1 set. I find it unnecessarily extreme and stressful.
I love how you always share what works for you as ideas for us, but always recognize things might be different for everyone. I love that. Having 6 soon to be 7 kids, it looks different at my house, but i have loved decluttering my home to make my life simpler and easier to manage things. Thank you!
I’m with you about the sheets. We had one extra twin set in case a kid got sick in the middle of the night. (It happens.)
Levis high waisted tapered jeans :P
Came here to say Abercrombie curve love--game changer! Also Everlane now has a 'curve' line. I share the waist/hip differential struggle!
@@amandajunebrawner I really need to try them now that I’ll never have slim hips again after children 🤣
With everything going on right now, we'll have regrets for things we did not participate in...Investment should always be on any creative man's heart for success in life.
you're right investing/trading is surely a lucrative way to invest whether you want growth, leverage, stable income or something in between.
I have loss severally trying to trade on my own. Can someone tell me the best way to win instead of losing more?
trading with an expert is the best strategy and also profitable, Newbies who are not aware of how crypto truly works and wish to make profits from it, I would advise to invest with a professional like Fergus waylen, It helps secure and minimize the possibilities of losses.
I'm honestly surprised that this name is being mentioned here, I stumbled upon one of his clients testimony last two months in CNBC world news and decided to try him out...I'm Expecting my third cashout in 2days
he's really a professional. For this past months, I keep earning $11,800 weekly profit having invested $4,200 and working with him
I think the thing that sticks out most to me from your list is the back-up glasses since I don't wear contacts. I actually went through all of my glasses a couple weeks ago, I probably had 20 pairs. I'm down to 3 extras now, one each for home, car and work. I've actually been out with friends, messing around, and destroyed the glasses I was wearing. 😅
An extra pair is a must!
In Switzerland you pay several hundred swiss fancs for a pair of glasses - so I would never loose mine!
Madewell has the BEST jeans. Love love love them.
I’m not a minimalist yet. But what you said is so true. I also have no problem getting rid of things, it’s just a slow process.
Twinsies! 👯♀️
Love your videos, minimalism really has made my life so much easier! Wishing you the best ❤
Warp and Weft - sustainably made denim under $100. Best jeans I've ever owned.
A TV! I have none but my husband has one for movies.
I also have a stack of mixing bowls; when I'm making jams and processing summer fruit, every bowl is in use!
Amy, where on the east coast are you? I’m in NS ❤
I'm in Albert County, NB
Choose a cardigan in a vibrant colour like a warm red..that will also go with most colours and bring some fun to your life. Good to be frugal but no need to be dull !
Great inspiration to be mindful about my multiples. Thank you!
Hahaa, yes, the headband. 😁 I'm the same.
And I own two sets of bedding only because here in the UK it rains most time of year and they don't dry as quickly as in your case. 🌞 Also, no dryer. Yay! 😁😁
I am really in love with your channel, it helps me so much and I got rid of so many things (that I didnt need) already, thank you :)
You are my favorite UA-camr. I am totally inspired by you and I thank you for that.
Thank you so much!! I have many cardigans because I totally love wearing cardigans. They are part of my style.. you look great in this! ❤
As ALWAYS.. such good suggestions! Thank YOU for taking the time to share your expertise in this area. All The Best to YOU!
I also have 3 mixing bowls (not sets, but pieces) - small, medium and large.
I used to have 1. Now I have 3 because my son has allergies.
Congratulations on 200k subscribers! Well deserved!
Thanks so much (and you’ve been with me a long time, right?)😁
@@AtoZenLife Yes, I have indeed! :)
I used to buy, when younger, Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. They have wider hips and smaller waist. Nice fit.
For jeans , you might like Everlane 90s cheeky jeans. Another option is Talbots curvy fit jeans.
Pinterest has some good hacks and quick simple ways to sew up jeans to make them fit better.
Lee Women's Midrise Bootcut Jeans at Walmart are Amazingly comfortable with some stretch to them. Making moving around and sitting on a full stomach incredibly comfortable. My favorite jeans I have EVER purchased.
I really thought the outfit you were wearing when you showed off your only pair of high heels looked beautiful. It suits you!
Such a good list. I agree about the TV. But there must be other things I only have one of. Will have to think about that.
Jeans - Marks and Spencer - I find the Eva bootcut are brilliant and not silly expensive.
Lee jeans! Old fashioned but they fit a smaller waist and larger hips. Dolly Parton recommends them too.
Especially in winter!
I have no high heels. I used to have multiple pairs, because I’m very short, but I’ve had back problems so no higher than an inch.
I bake a lot, and 2 bowls is good , one for dry , one for wet ingredients, it does help
That small waist problem is one I’d like to have. 😅. My waist has never gone in much at all. Thanks again for your continued encouragement ❤
When I lived in a humid climate and had to dry indoors because of rain we used a powerful floor fan to help speed up drying.
@@theresaanndiaz3179 Clever! We are in a small space with min solar so I rely on the sun and wind a lot! Feb is the worst month but luckily we always have a breeze coming from the ocean to help the process along. 💃🏼💜🌍
i been watching your channel for a few months and i love it
We like a sheet between us and the blanket.
The defuzzer is such an essential item!
In household I have some single items too, because me and my husband live in a 26 square meters apartment 😅
My mom’s generation used to collect a lot of bedsheets, towels, dinner sets, etc., because behind the “Iron Curtain” they were not so easily available.
