There are many food dies and additives that Europe won't allow so you will probably find a lot to look out for. When I went to Japan I felt so healthy but then I came back to North America and felt so sick all the time because we don't have food we have PRODUCTS
I am trying to declutter digital photos and my little hack for this is every day I type the date into my phone and it pulls up pictures from this day for all the years, then I can remove duplicates and not feel so overwhelmed! Just takes maybe 3 minutes a day.
I do something similar. Instead of doom scrolling when waiting for someone. I get rid of pictures. It's not always easy, but who needs 10k picutres on their phone 😂
I keep a shoe box for scrap metal screws, brackets, Allen wrenches. And once a year I swing it by a nearby recycling place. I usually make enough to get a nice latte or fancy ice cream cone. I make sure that all the supplements get used up by sneaking 1 each day into my husbands daily meds they are almost all gone since I stopped buying them before COVID🤣 I just pass along the bags with stuff going to goodwill. I keep a check on protein powders and start blending them into muffins, cookies and brownies. No one has never noticed. I will also sneak dollops of expiring condiments into whatever I am cooking to add a little extra flavor. A little mustard or mayo in the marinade, wasabi in the chili, cocktail sauce in the spaghetti sauce, ketchup in the soup, sub mayo for oil in a chocolate cake. My pantry is so slim I know the dates on everything. Take a teaspoon of any jelly and add a cup of boiling water and you have fruit tea- marmalade is especially good for this. Turn old flour, corn meal, grits, stale cereals and old peanut butter or mayo into dog biscuits. Blend all the old ground spices together and sprinkle in the garden to discourage pests. Old beer, drinks, sodas, vinegars and soy sauce mixed 1/2 and half with water makes great fertilizer
I donated a bunch of my handbags recently to a local business that will turn them into fanny packs. Now other people can enjoy them as new accessories!
Get rid of the CAT?? lol, ur thumb nail points to the cute kittie.......''Get Rid of This Now!'' - pointing to the Cute Ginger!! We cnt get rid of him lol :) xx
I just decluttered my finances (which included switching to mint!) and switched my car insurance. I am literally saving $300 a month, it’s bananas how helpful it was.
Just FYI. I had 3 of the metal CC I had never activated but didn’t know how to get rid of (you can’t shred). I googled and got an answer to take to a bank. I did that and they took them to add to their shredding that is done by a professional company!!😁
For memory boxes: I had three huge totes AND two smaller ones full of stuff. Last week I condensed it all into one small box. Felt amazing. Going through everything, I realized that none of it carried the memories. My brain does and I can access that whenever. Also, I had totally forgotten everything inside them all, wouldn’t have noticed they were gone if there was a fire.
10:50 The Artmakers Outpost in Evanston IL takes donated materials for children to make Art. Old Ribbons, fabric, or other trinkets that can be used for Art projects. Not sure if you're near the area, but thought I'd mention. An old friend of mine runs it and it's been a lovely service for kids and parents, plus supports the reuse industry.
I live in Germany, and I have fabric bags that are available just as plastic bags or those made of paper at every supermarket. I have them in my car and put them back after having emptied them after shopping.
I'm happy to say I declutter these things quite frequently :D I just notice these small things. Today I was actually just gonna re-organise my linen closet/drawers and ended up decluttering as well, because, do I actually need 5 sets of bedsheets? In a 2-person household? the answer is no. Especially not when I can hardly close the drawer XD
Love these reminders! Decluttering is very cathartic. I like to declutter until there's about 25% empty space in an area. I declutter my diet for a few weeks at a time. Go without caffeine, dessert, alcohol usually weeks before an event or trip.
I pay $180 annually for Mint. I was paying $70 /month before that. AND I did it all myself. Fabulous service and so inexpensive!! I wish they would come up with an internet plan - We are all paying way too much for that too.
Love decluttering. Doing whole house this year. so far this year.. Garden shed Utility cupboard and entrance hall Under the stairs cupboard Kitchen Kids school stuff. Will keep going until whole house it done.
@@joanvoss7512 yep. Use to be minimalist before kids and husband. Once he left.. spent 1st year boxing his crap.. 90 boxes.. still has to get 50. Then 1yr decluttering mine and the kids. That was 2019.. been great since.. but want to do another big one!.. hate stuff.
With the memory boxes, if you're outgrowing your current treasure trove but not ready to part with any of those memories, go digital. There might be a couple of things in there with tactile significance, but everything else you don't want to part with can be scanned or photographed and stuck on a drive. I had a giant tub full of precious things I couldn't stand to part with, and easily whittled it down to a small shoebox without feeling like I lost anything.
Memory boxes and old papers are a *huge* category I need to go through. 😣Things like that are probably the most overwhelming for me as I can be very sentimental and go through a stack of papers with the "keep" pile being much bigger than the "recycle" pile. I'm trying to start on papers that are still piled around and haven't made it to the boxes yet, and to keep exercising my declutter muscles on easier categories in preparation for that. I know it will be so freeing when my mementos are all actually special! Now for the wins! I've decluttered my phone apps, and naturally update them on occasion. I did not realize how many different apps my friends, family used to communicate until I decluttered! A goal in the future is to get those communication lines a bit more consolidated, but relationships come first. :) Craft and hobby supplies have been a big category for me as well. A year or two ago I did a declutter through some fabrics and projects I knew I wouldn't finish. The second part of the strategy has been to declutter my time and actually get to the projects I love! At the moment that means sewing a hobbit vest. ☺
My bills all pay automatically, either through my Visa or my bank. Then my Visa balance automatically pays each month. That declutters a lot of tasks from my to do list.
It's not that I forget these things that you're speaking about. It's a matter of time and energy for any decluttering on my part. When I was younger it was much easier but now I'm 63 years old and I'm not in perfect health and I'm also helping my mother with a lot of household things. The most frustrating thing is not being able to follow through on any particular area of my home. Last week I was very motivated to clean out my bathroom cupboards and I got two areas done, but haven't had the time since then to finish the rest. That's when I get discouraged and I figure it's not even worth my time and I hate doing half a job of anything! The way I figure it will take me 10 years to be able to move out of my home 😢
I am 64 and i did it by NOT getting discouraged because it was worth my time - and now i have more of it to pursue what I love to do!! Every little bit done and doing it one bite at a time, that is what you have time for.. You can do this, no excuses, just keep going. The result is where your payoff is!!!I
I agree with @fromhumblebeginnings7798 . Bit by bit. Not doing it at all will feel worse. Give thanks when we get one half of a drawer or shelf done. :)
Great idea... omg i hate my huge turkey roasting pan and I'm now going to put it in my fridge to hold deli items that are hanging loose ! Thanks for the tip!
Voice mail--I have not checked mine in months. I'm happy to know that others have the same problems and feelings about it. When I was employed, I had to check voice mails when I started my day and several times during the day...caught hell if I didn't do that. I am retired now.
I decluttered my finances by actually opening MORE accounts, I got travel insurance by paying via my bank rather than buying every account, and setup some accounts that transfer money between them at the start of the month which gives me a great interest rate, and I move my savings to new accounts with a better rate. So i have +3 new accounts but also now earn cashback on everything I spend, don't get charged fees for shopping abroad (very useful as my hubby lives in another country) and get money back on the money I have now because my interest rate is actually decent! This month I made £90 just from doing this.
Love the goal ideas! Thank you, that is a huge thing my sister and I overlook. I have to pass this on because it can seriously decrease stress when you look at goals realistically!!!❤❤❤
Another great list you made!! Always awesome. I delete voicemails immediately after checking them! I think that is just something like how I delete emails after reading them too. Earth 911 is amazing! So nice to see your NJ license since I have one hehe. I always shred cards and such right when I get the new one. . again, it is a habit I make that if something is replacing another, I get rid of it. Oh man, I have reusable bags in this box I keep in my trunk, and my mom keeps buying my sons bagels that she brings over in those bags, keeps them with me, and they store up until I see her, and it annoys me. I am going to tell her, "Just hand me the bagels and keep your bag please." I really don't need all those!!! I love being a smart phone app minimalist. My husband has sooooo many and I am always like, "Do you even use all of these??" Goodness.
Excellent advices, particularly the digital clutter. Easy to wind up w/ a *lot* of apps, archived e-mails, etc. In the film Up In The Air (2009) George Clooney’s character describes photographs as “crutches for the memory.” I agree w/ that sentiment. Old photos are a handy link to our past, someone else’s. But they can accumulate, become dingy and dusty (even if collected in a memory box or photo album) and they remind us of those we’ve lost. Photos won’t be of help to me if my memory goes for whatever reasons. I’m not very sentimental, and have no issue anymore discarding such items. My mind is still sharp; my earliest memory is seeing a beloved cousin in his crib in 1971 (I was 4, or close to it.) I don’t require pics to see my Dad, Grandparents, friends who’ve passed on; they’re in my grey matter, there to view anytime. Now if only I could declutter unwanted and hurtful memories. 🤔👍❤️
Also, -Setting a defrag and/or doing a disk cleanup up your laptop, computer, and tablet is the main reason your internet is slow and lagging it is not your service but devices need deep cleaning. -That goes for your laptop, computer, mobile and tablet deleting your history on the internet takes up space in the memory and the speed processor will be like when it was new(it helps to transfer your photo and video on your laptop, computer, and tablet free up space.)
Hi l love watching and being inspired by your vlogs. I have been catching up with your old vlogs and waiting for you new one constantly. Thank you so much. ❤😊🙏
I decluttered the apps on my iPhone, yeah!! 😊I referenced the post you referred to. It was so easy following your instructions. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do but reluctant and afraid. Thanks so much. Another of the forgotten decluttering spots you mentioned is my tool/box/random collection of unknown stuff. Definitely something to tackle.
I learned a hard lesson one day when I had put some outgoing mail to be mailed for my mother-n-law, and there was a credit card bill among the outgoing mail, but it fell into the bottom of my purse where I didn't see it under all my junk. The mail was forgotten about and wasn't mailed out. She was charged a late fee on that bill. I found the mail in the bottom of my purse about 2 or 3 weeks later when I went to look for something. I was so embarrassed that I had forgot to send out the mail.
Deactivate the voice mail function - peace of mind! When I first did so 10 years ago, my daughter chided me. Now, she and every member of her family, have deactivated their voice mail function.
Here in the uk you can pay your bills by either standing order or direct debit. Utility companies actually prefer direct debits because they are surer of getting their cash each month, especially with potentially variable bills, so you pay less overall if you agree to pay this way. So, once these are setup, you don't have to spend time each month organing the paying of regular expenses. You can also set up standing orders to automate donations, and transfers to saving or investment accounts. If you set things up to come off soon after your wage/main income arrives ( with a few days between in case of bank delays), then you will know that the balance left, once the bill transfers have gone out, is what if left for the casual spending over the rest of the month ! For those paid monthly this works well, but it's a bit more complicated if you have other patterns of income.
Yes, ab routine please. Ive commented before and have incorporated what ive been learning, hoping for a bikini body this summer at 41 years old. I'm proud and surprised to say that i fit my new bikini right now, i tried it on the other day for a progress pic. People, keep going! After 5 kids and wonderful perimenopaus attacking me, ive made significant progress. Im feeling sexy again. Thank you Chalene.
Pets are like kids. My dog plays best when he has only got a few toys. He gets overwhelmed and cant focus on a toy if there are too many to choose from.
Good evening american woman , 100% agree with you , as i told you in my last post , i live alone without family , without children , in a simple 45m2 apartment bought in 2014 , would you be able to live like me without family ? What do you think about this kind of life ? Have a nice day 😊
I don’t listen to voicemails unless the texted version is wrong, sometimes it has words that don’t make sense, people with accents or low talkers sometimes confuse the translation 😂, but ya I read them and delete the actual voicemail
I’m in my late sixties and I’ve never put gas in our car. Never pumping gas is one of my achievable goals in life….along with never eating peanut butter and never taking more than one trip from car to house with groceries. So trivial but so satisfying at the same time.
also HATE pumping my own gas!! when i lived in staten island (NY), we'd schedule our gas refills for when we went over the outer bridge to NJ, where they pump your gas for you!!! (do they still do that in NJ??)
handbags... reminded me of cleaning before I was moving to a new flat (abroad, in addition) and went through my handbags... in one of them I found bunch of food vouchers 😖 I was so angry... since then I went to the system "one casual handbag + one formal handbag". I try to keep emails + smartphone on low level (inspired by one of your videos), but in craft supplies I am sooo guilty, but at least I don't buy supplies for new hobbies (beadwork is enough)
The video card on UA-cam pointing at the cat makes it look like you're telling people to declutter pets. 😂😭 We're having record numbers of euthanasias in shelters due to surrenders from the cost of living crisis and I had just seen a video about it when your video came up in my recommendations, so the video card might be a bit misleading. ... but yes, my cats have toys everywhere 🤣
Our daughter has serious reactions to artificial food dyes - huge welts on arms and trunk, red 40 - 24 hrs of throwing up. I wish the US would ban them.
When you go to trade shows, etc., you end up with a lot of nice reusable bags. If they're still in good condition, consider donating them to the food bank for their clients to take food home in.
Hi. It would be super helpful if you could make some content on where to donate and dispose of your clutter in Germany. I've found it really hard to get rid of some things especially if they are still good and I don't want to throw them away. I have a feeling that noone wants my stuff. This prevents me from getting it out of the house, so I just keep clutter shifting. I've noticed that all of the clothes containers disappeared from my town and it took me days and a 15 min car ride to get rid of my bag of old clothes. I want to declutter my kitchen next and just don't know what to do with that stuff. Thanks for creating great content and take care.
@@AtoZenLifeYou can just turn off voicemails. I didn't because it is common for businesses to call about picking up items I ordered and it is convenient for them, but that is maybe one a month.
Refill your gas at a half tank. In the event of any serious disaster do you really want to be stuck on empty? Or at least a quarter tank. It will extend the life of your fuel pump. Gasoline actually helps keep the fuel pump cool.
My phone has a setting so that no one can leave a voice mail. Cuts out a job of clearing out the voice mails. The other person knows they need to call back if there is an important message!
looking at your wallet i noticed your license was turned up; a policeman told me several years to keep identification cards upside down in your wallet to prevent others from seeing your name, address or date of birth💚
I tried Mint but the coverage wasn't good. Too many dead spots. Switched back to Google Fi which also has fabulous international coverage. Unless i use a ton of data, the cost is the same as mint for me.
I keep one of each thing so that I have the information quickly to hand rather than trying to find details online/app. The latest goes in and the old gets shredded, unless there is a reason to keep an old paper for longer. Our shredded papers used to supplement the bedding material for our degus, but since they sadly passed we just compost our shredded papers along with our food scraps and garden waste.

-That goes for your laptop, computer, mobile and tablet deleting your history on the internet takes up space in the memory and the speed processor will be like when it was new(it helps to transfer your photo and video on your laptop, computer, and tablet free up space.)
You are simply the best adviser!!!❤
Hi l love watching and being inspired by your vlogs. I have been catching up with your old vlogs and waiting for you new one constantly. Thank you so much. ❤😊🙏
Thanks so much and happy to have you as part of the community 😄
Her house looks amazing to me.
Missed you last Sunday! Glad you are back! Thank you for the decluttering tips.
You can do that?!?! Have their been any negative repercussions?
I intentionally leave voicemail full so no one can leave me voicemails, that’s how much I hate them 😅
😂

I luv your hair. It's beautiful
Great helpful list and reminders!
Great video ❤ thanks Marissa
Your thumbnail cracks me up!
Thank you! 😆👍
Haha, I love the post-it note!
Glad you liked that 😉😂
Here in the uk you can pay your bills by either standing order or direct debit.
At 42 and largest ive ever been I e decided all bodies can be bikini bodies. I got a 2 piece for the first time in 24 years.
Useful list
I scanned old pictures that were fading. Now I have memories on my phone n got rid of the paper clutter! Win- win!
Have a nice day 😊
Great list!! Thank you!
Love that for you 👏
I have pumped a lot of gas but I have never mowed a lawn. I’m 64 and plan to never mow a lawn!
also HATE pumping my own gas!! when i lived in staten island (NY), we'd schedule our gas refills for when we went over the outer bridge to NJ, where they pump your gas for you!!! (do they still do that in NJ??)
Yes, NJ station attendants do (still) pump gas for you.
Thank you 🙏🏼😘
Thanks for watching! ❤️
handbags... reminded me of cleaning before I was moving to a new flat (abroad, in addition) and went through my handbags... in one of them I found bunch of food vouchers 😖 I was so angry... since then I went to the system "one casual handbag + one formal handbag". I try to keep emails + smartphone on low level (inspired by one of your videos), but in craft supplies I am sooo guilty, but at least I don't buy supplies for new hobbies (beadwork is enough)
I actually have a small memory box for every year going back to 2007, the year my dad died. It's the only thing I don't wanna declutter.
2:01 AHH! Those same things… all of them… I procrastinate doing those too!! 😂😂😂
I never put anything above the refrigerator. I cannot reach the cabinet, so I do not use it.
I don't use my attic for the same reason!
I'm retiring early so I'm getting rid of a ton of apps and notifications and about 400 phone numbers and contacts. This girl has left the building
Excellent video! Thanks….😊
😅 I'm half asleep and wanted to know what was going on with the cat before watching! Thank you 😂❤
The goals sound like me trying to do it all at once ❤😆
Yes my opine is cleaned up every day. Gelps 😊
Our daughter has serious reactions to artificial food dyes - huge welts on arms and trunk, red 40 - 24 hrs of throwing up. I wish the US would ban them.
Ugh, that’s tough! I had a friend that was allergic to dyes in lotion and she struggled to find ones that were safe for her skin 😢
When you go to trade shows, etc., you end up with a lot of nice reusable bags. If they're still in good condition, consider donating them to the food bank for their clients to take food home in.
I just found your videos. I love them. Where do you live? America or Europe?
Thanks for creating great content and take care.
hi where do i get those good canvas bags please.great video.thanks
Hi, sorry I forgot to link! Here are the bags I use: amzn.to/43f5tbE
Lol, I’m so guilty of #2 as well 😂
I bet a lot of people are 😂🙏
@@AtoZenLifeYou can just turn off voicemails.
We stopped buying pet beds . We have one large box that we cut holes in for our cats lol
Nice 😂 🐱
My phone has a setting so that no one can leave a voice mail. Cuts out a job of clearing out the voice mails. The other person knows they need to call back if there is an important message!
looking at your wallet i noticed your license was turned up; a policeman told me several years to keep identification cards upside down in your wallet to prevent others from seeing your name, address or date of birth💚
Unfortunately, Mint Mobile isn't available in Canada. Anyone from Canada have suggestions for an alternate?
PC mobile have low cost options
I tried Mint but the coverage wasn't good. Too many dead spots. Switched back to Google Fi which also has fabulous international coverage. Unless i use a ton of data, the cost is the same as mint for me.
I think our husbands have the same phone 😅 such a nightmare trying to find anything on it.
Wood Mint Mobile!!!:🎉
How do you know whether to save old paper bills? In fact how does one throw away paper? That would make a good UA-cam video?😂Thank you.
I'm a TracFone user, buy what I need, when I need. No monthly service plan for me.
lol like a dog digging in dirt. My backpack. A lot of old bones in there.
My Husband vs Protein powder flavours he doesn't like just hit me so hard xD
🤣 I thought it was YUMMY (but I don’t need protein powder)

Narrator: it was not.

Who puts things on the fridge?
A LOT of people!
Grandparents- drawings & magnet photographs of grandchildren
@@s0a1n2d3y4Oh, I misunderstood. I thought she meant on the top of the fridge, like a shelf.
I agree with those 3 things you hate doing Marissa! 😂 First world problems huh?! 😂😂
my voice mail only saves for 7days, so never need to worry :)
Nice! 😂
Always weird that people continue to declutter and still have so much stuff
Hahaha i hate putting gas too
