- ///We show you how to change an old chain and sprockets on the big KTM Adventure. Easily explained in 4 steps how you can change do it yourself at home. We used the Motion Pro T6 to break the chain and an Enuma chain link to connect it again.
MOTION PRO T6 CHAIN TOOL
Super lightweight chain tool. Breaks and presses side plates on chains up to 525. Weighs only 170g (against 1kg for the heavy duty one)! You can repair almost any chain damage, anywhere. However, this tool does not rivet the chains for the big bikes. This is why we used the Enuma chain link.
ENUMA CHAIN LINK
The patented Screw-Type Master Link from Enuma is perfect for fitting an drive chain quick, easy and amazingly inexpensive. Its a great and lightweight spare part to carry around in case anything happens. Better then a clip on that you need to replace asap on the big bikes this is a permanent solution so you can keep riding until your chain wears out.

Doing this today on my 990 and I found this video, and the checklists, super helpful. Thank you!
Great video! I've gotten spoiled by air tools, but this shows how to do it in the field with basic tools.
Good job, I am going to change my chain and sprockets on my super duke r this weekend. Thanks
Thanks for sharing the video guys, never changed a chain before so very helpful. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video!
Thank you for detailed information 🙏
Very interesting thanks.
super cool video, great editing and shooting!
This is the best vid for my 950 smr!! Thank you for takin the time to make this!!!
You mention that the countershaft nut is the tightest nut on the bike, but at the end you don't use a torque wrench on it (think its supposed to be 100 N-m?), you just tighten it up with a ratchet and then turning the back wheel smoothly using the lever against the swing arm.....after which I see the tool lightly tapping against the swingarm axle. I just don't see how you'd know it's tight enough and how your 'turning wheel smoothly' description matches the light tapping shown in the video. Maybe you just skipped and didn't show the final tightening. What else is odd is that to loosen the nut, you have the toolkit wrench UNDER the swingarm pivot and using the engine to rotate the wheel CCW as as viewed from the chain side and as it would turn when riding, but that would seem to tighten the nut. I just removed the nut on my own 2012 990 and did the reverse i.e. let the toolkit wrench handle come up against the TOP of the swingarm pivot as I rotated the wheel CW or 'backwards' as viewed from the chain side of the bike. That loosened the nut as I expected but just don't see how you were able to do it the exact opposite way. Whatever you did obviously worked but I don't see how, because that would be how you'd tighten (not loosen) the nut, I even did a 'test' of both methods to be sure that my mind wasn't playing tricks on me. Though I could also be having a brain malfunction but can't see how. Finally for a 'tightest nut on the bike' mine came off easier than I'm comfortable with and certainly wasn't 100 N-m as I'd feared. I suppose that's what the fold up washer tabs are for but it was almost on finger tight which would have been from the factory. My chain had been removed since I didn't know it was needed to remove the nut, so put my new chain around both sprockets loose without installing the master link, so when I turned the wheel CW or backwards with the toolbag wrench coming up on the top of the swingarm pivot the nut would loosen. But it took hardly any 'impact' or effort before the shaft spun in the nut or vice versa, so I looked closer to be sure given I couldn't believe it, and sure enough the nut was already coming off with so little effort. Sorry for the book but a little hard explaining in words.
Wow, I will have to watch and watch again - and say goodbye to my mechanic...? (one day maybe hehe)
I knew I was doing something wrong. I should have had my old ladies sit on the tire. I agree I need a new mechanic
Good video. JoJo is good at showing how to do things. And I love the hat at the end.
Thanks, me too!
Thanks JoJo 👍I feel like such an idiot not knowing that method of using the engine to crack the front sprocket nut 🤔. So simple ! even an "engineer"can work it out. Ha,Ha,Ha. Great scope with well paced instructions, Good job guys & many more successful chain & sprockets replacements to come 🤘
Thank Peter, hope you like this type of video :)
Doesn't the engine actually tighten the nut as it turns?
Goodjob
One of the best videos of yours!
Thanks!
Both are u good mechanic open mother bike repair shop will make good money.
That was a great video.. thanks.
Need better tools with greater leverage. Frustrating observing hands that are clearly not used to handling tools. It's a v satisfying job to do yourself because you know how much you're saving compared to the dealer. The 950 still looks v modern after all these years. Fantastically well designed bike.
another great video, keep it going.
Please NEVER use the Enginepower that way to "loosen" your sprocket... its the wrong direction (you are tightening it!!!!) plus you can damage your swingarm and gearshaft very badly...
I cant believe what theyve done. They are indeed tighten it!!!!!!
Well... I left my tightening nut's thread on the shaft following this tip xD i am puzzled does this machine have a reverse ?
1:55 COOL !!
I have no experience at all with motorcycles with a chain. Shaft on mine ;-)
Btw : JoJo , going to Austria from Sweden with the truck later today , unloading on the eastern part of your home country.
Sweet!
Very nice video! Only I think you mean 3-4cm (not mm) clearance.
By the way I would be happy to meet you and Joe in Vienna before I'm leaving for my South America trip. I can offer coffee or beer at my place in Vienna ;)
When are you leaving? We are going to Austria for Christmas.
Nora Hey, we'll leave Austria on the 4th of January
Good woman.
hi nora watch some videos of royal jordanian daily observations on youtube and add content like that in your videos, best wishes to both of you
What is it that you like about RJ?
groovy,,,
How is easy to change the chain of a motorcyle if you have proper tools.
iv a N.C Honda, it hasennt needed the chain adusded in 10. thou miles. [ p.s im Dislex ]
Love you nora
Just asking, are you using 17" rear rim and tyre?
I changed the chain on my old Honda CB350 and the master link had a clip, not the pins like yours. It was the same brand as yours (but black, not pretty gold). Why is there a difference?
Clip style is easier to install, but not as secure. That is it.
Netjes regelmatig gesmeerd hoor als de tandwielen nog zo uitzien na 40k
👌👌👌👌👌
Hello nora
Haai Nora and Jojo, did you used an DID chain in combination with the Enuma link?
Yes!
@@Nora_adventurism but is it allowed..? On the site of enuma, only use with enuma chain.!!?
I think if the chain is the same size.. whats the problem..
Hey Nora how are you hope good ?
Dont do the engine trick for the front nut.. Not even loosening it that way... eesh
An Austrian number plate?
Yes. There are vehicles in Austria...
ohhh Kettenersatz helló from hungary
the bike needed more cleaning consiering havin all parts dismounted
There is a small incorrect information in your video. When you adjust chain tension, clearance is not 3-4 mm it should be 30-40mm. You can find this information also on a sticker that is under the seat.
