I was lucky enough to grow up a couple miles south of here in Syosset. As a kid, we’d go here all the time. Even though I’ve lived in VA for the last 24 years, I bring my daughters here every time we’re up on Long Island. It’s probably my favorite place to visit.
That’s fantastic! It’s such a great spot. We live about 15 minutes away. Never gets old and we’re thankful that it’s so well preserved for everyone to enjoy.
We have never been to Sagamore Hill National Historic Site. Looks like a lovely home and grounds. I love seeing historical sites like this. Thanks for taking us along!
Thank you! We are very fortunate in that in all of our travels, this one is close to our home. Theodore Roosevelt is huge reason why the National Parks have thrived in the US and he kickstarted a worldwide movement to preserve in other countries too. It's only fitting to see what made him tick!

The grounds here are so beautiful. What a wonderful area to explore and get an education on President Theodore Roosevelt. Hmmm, there is a small resemblance between you and the former president Magellan.

This was his home. Not a summer home. He lived there full time. But of course during his Presidency left the White House quite often during the summer to go home.
You made a mistake. Two of TR's sons died in combat. Quentin Roosevelt in WWI and Theodore Roosevelt, Jr' in WW II following the D Day Normandy invasion
We can agree to disagree. Jr died of a heart attack during WWII in France. Doesn't take away from his service, or the fact that he was an amazing man, like his father or brother, or that whole family for that matter, but Quentin died in actual aerial combat.

Yup, this is a best of both worlds place. The house tour is really cool, but the property itself is the draw.
Something tells me none of our 21st century presidents would have raised chickens.
They pale in comparison to him in so many things. Probably our most unique president.
