Had a punt last year and bought one 2nd hand off Ebay with a hard case for about £300. Still had the plastic on the guard. Upgraded the single coils as I thought they sounded weedy (obviously not in this test clip), had it set up and it is a beast of a guitar. Very versatile for Floyd, Maiden and everything in between.
I have played both Models of this guitar $2,000 and $529 versions and to be very honest neither feel or sound better than the other and both have incredible craftsmanship.. I do not see or hear any justification for the $2,000 price tag for the USA model

How is the fret work on these? Does it get a super low action and stay clean? I found the only thing on these imports lacking usually is the fret work?

I'm using 10s on this SDX, so I need a higher action for a completely clean sound, ~3mm (1/8in). Going lower than that, the 6th and 5th string start to oscillate into the fretboard if you're striking them slightly harder. With 9-gauge, you should be good at/above ~2.5mm(1/10in). Amazingly enough, I had luck with my purchase; the fretboard is 99% leveled, unfortunately, the truss rod is at the heel of the neck.
Nice test! The entire OD part of the test was played through the humbucker, right? Have you tested the neck coil at high gain? Is the sound "thick" enough to play a real heavy metal solo?thx 👍

Fret work is okay on mine, I like taller frets for more control on bends though, specially in the higher register

Fretwork was poor on mine, needed a full fret level to get a good action. Plays beautifully since, but.....
