  • You may recognize this looks like another Kalanchoe that I highlighted on "365 Days of Plants", and this one is equally as "leggy", though I'm going to keep it as such in my little cup of joe! This one rings in at #262 of "365 Days of Plants".
In this video I'll discuss where it is originally native to, where I'm growing it in my home, and basics like light, watering and fertilizing.
You can check out more of these videos here and on my IGTV @homesteadbrooklyn.
    Featured plant:

I have a huge one of these. But mine isn't shaped gangly at all, lol. I have it outside during the summer on the corner of a shelf under my patio overhang. So now they're all draped in one direction and tip up at the very end. It's very beautiful!

Thanks Summer, I love this plant. I take cuttings and just throw it on the grown and it grows so well. I don't even have to plant it.

This is so easy to propagate! This is one I share with friends all the time. You can also propagate it from the leaves. It is very fun to have if you enjoy making succulent arrangements.

I really like the crazy looking plants they just seem to have so much character and I like the uniqueness of different plants. I do love Kalanchoe, and only have one, but I would love to get more and even if I could find this one get it as well. Thanks so much Summer, another plant that is amazing and unique and I am loving that I learn so much each day. Have a great day and I will see you tomorrow.

I sometimes buy gangly plants like that one for a purpose. They do good in an arrangement.

They are flowering now, January, in SoCal. My neighbor has a very full old specimen about 2 1/2 feet diameter in her garden, that’s covered in long lasting blooms. This plant produces babies on the edge of some of it’s leaves, which fall off and root readily in moist soil. The leaves get a pinkish hue in winter.

hi Summer, I have this plant in the sunniest spot in my dining room window, I was wondering about the stems/roots that have been growing out of the stems (because he has gotten so leggy) and have been thinking about cutting him back, I think I will try and propagate him. Thanks for the video.

I'm just curious. If can i put soil over the aerial roots, will it still grow more? Or it won't make a difference? I know cutting them back can work but I was just curious if instead of cutting them, just lay the roots to soil, would they grow? I've thought of putting them in a long rectangular pot to see how they would grow.

I'm not sure you'll see this but I have a question. I am new to succulents as of earlier this year. My kalanchoe is just like the one you have in this video and is slowly losing its lower leaves. Question is if I was to trim the bushier part just below and replant it will it continue to grow

  • @supermama03

Do you remove the leaves along the stem, to get that look?

This is getting creepy! You keep positing videos on a plant the same day I buy them.
