    Hello, thank you for this helpful video, very clear on how to save our plants. Just one question though: do we water them (spray water on them) everyday?

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  7 місяців тому

      Sorry for the late reply..No, please don't do that or else they would rot. You can do one thing - water thoroughly first time. After that wait and let the complete media dry out (even if it is 80-100% dry, there won't be any issue). Then water again well. Repeat the same cycle until they don't produce new growths. Once you are able to see new growths, you can slowly increase watering frequency. But then again, please note that they are succulent. So, need water very less frequently. All the best!

      @Mary Frances, Sorry for the late reply :-( We can water on the leaves, no issue. When to water - Since they are succulent, watering once in 7-10 days is enough...Ideally, we should let all the soil almost dry out before watering again or else the cuttings might rot. Hope I answered your question and thank you so much for your feedback, much appreciated :-)

    Thk u for sharing this info, I've just today bought a nice Kalanchoe plant with buds and flowers on it. My doubt here is, since it is in a small pot do I need to transplant in into a bigger pot. Pls advise. Thks.

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  4 роки тому

      @Flavia Chauhan, Most welcome and thank you very much for the feedback, appreciate it :-) Since it already has buds and flowers, it's not going to produce similar buds in the same season as they bloom mostly once in a season. Once all buds are bloomed, it's almost going to stop producing new buds again. But sometimes, they do..but not like first time. So, it's okay even if you don't repot into a bigger pot. But if you want to keep the plant for next year and want it it grow much better, then you can repot :-) Good luck :-) Here I have a complete detailed video on Kalanchoe - ua-cam.com/video/an1WXNevnDA/v-deo.html

      Callousness is always advised for succulents (that I'm aware of). I always propagate eith dry mix for 2 weeks and check if tlany roots started. Only then do I give a little spray of water. Every week and mostly.100% success. I live in a dry climate in canada. I do itnin north window so excess moisture won't evaporate..and nor should you put cuttings in bright light. I haven't don't kalanchoe though and am callousing today and will probably plant tomorrow.

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  4 роки тому

      @Nura Shahid, Thank you for your feedback, appreciate it :-) It depends on your plant actually..if it already has buds, then definitely you can keep indoor in bright light and it's going to complete it's blooming cycle. But if the plant is really small at this stage, then it would be difficult. If possible, plz keep outside and when you see the buds, bring it indoor if you like. Anyway, at the blooming time, direct sunlight is not preferred as they burn the flower petals. I have discussed everything in my second video with updates and if you like, you can watch it here - ua-cam.com/video/an1WXNevnDA/v-deo.html

    Brother i brought 2 plants yesterday as first plant potting mix was a success.
    While purchasing i didnt notice they were in red soil instead of cocopeat. So while repotting them i had to remove the red soil through water.
    One of the plants root was rotten so i have applied SAAF over there and repotted it separately in small pot.
    or do i need to take it out cut it and apply SAAF so that it roots develop ?
    Or do i need to cut it and apply SAAF and hang it for 3-4 days like adenium?
    Or any other thing which i shud do ?
    Just in case i have to cut it can i give humic acid mix water for roots development?

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  3 роки тому +2

      @Criss Martinez, Glad you liked it and thank you very much for your words, much appreciated! Yes, I dipped them in the honey. Even if you are using crystalized honey, there is no any issue. You can easily melt them and there are 2 easy procedures - [And these are from tipnut.com/crystallized-honey/ ]
      (heat gently to avoid damaging the honey)
      1. Place jar in a pot of warm water, set heat to medium-low and stir until crystals dissolve. You can also place the jar in a pot of hot water and leave it alone until it liquefies (not resting on heated element).
      2. Quick Fix: You could also heat in the microwave for 30 seconds, stir well, allow to cool for 20 seconds then heat again for 30 seconds (if there are still granules needing to be dissolved). Stir again and cool as noted before reheating (if required).
      I hope that helps and if you have any questions, please let me know. Good luck :-)

    Great tips have you use honey for any other plants?

      @Tameka Hill, Honestly saying, not much and I just use either plain water and soil. I am going to upload videos about propagating many plants very soon.

    What if you don’t have cocopeat and vermicompost? What can you use to plant the leaves in? Sand? Perlite?

    Hi, great video! How long do the leaves take to get a stem with more leaves?

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  3 роки тому +3

      @CARLINO GONZALEZ PEREGO, Glad you liked it and thank you very much for the feedback...From leaf, it's take time to get a new plant and it would depend on lots of other factors. But still, we can assume it would take around 80-100 days. I have shown the stems from the leaves here on this video - ua-cam.com/video/an1WXNevnDA/v-deo.html (Just sharing here in case you want to see how they look)

    I see roots from the leaf I placed in water after around 3 weeks. How much longer for a young plant to grow from this leaf?

    Do you need to dry the leaves and let it form a callous before replanting?

    My Kolonchoe is very tall now, I didn't know which type it was and that it had be pruned. It's about a foot tall now. How should I cut it down to repot? It's too tall to stand on it's own and it hasn't flowered in about a year so I must be doing something wrong! Do you have any advice?

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  4 роки тому

      @Nathalie Paez, If plant is not blooming, there could be 3 main issues - 1. Not getting enough direct sunlight. We can keep Kolonchoe indoor once it has already produced the buds. To reach that stage, it's better if we provide our plants direct sunlight. I already have a complete details video on Kolonchoe and you can watch it if you like - ua-cam.com/video/an1WXNevnDA/v-deo.html
      2. Lack of fertilizer
      3. Most probably plant is getting more water. Kolonchoe is a succulent and so doesn't need water frequently
      Definitely you can prune your plant and you can do it anyway if you like. Fore example, you can just make the plant into half and use the cut part to grow more plants. You can even prune more and make it 1/3 of it's current height. It's a succulent and wouldn't die because of hard pruning.
      I do the same thing with my Hibiscus and if you want some pruning ideas, you can watch my video about Pruning Hibiscus - ua-cam.com/video/XD4AhCVTSRo/v-deo.html I know Hibiscus is not a succulent but sharing here so that you can get some ideas. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for watching the video :-)

    Just a doubt. When u pdo leaf prpogation how often should you water.

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  4 роки тому

      @Rajalakshmi Mohan, Only when top 1 inch or more soil is absolutely dry (if doubt, you can simply dip your finger 1 inch into the soil and see if it's completely dry)...They are succulent and if you use similar soil mixture like mine, it would be fine even if you water once in 7-10 days. Please let me know if you have any doubt, thank you :-)
