I feel this to such a high extent. I'm going for a shiny Piplup, and I started hunting on Christmas Day. My switch says I've played 150+ hours, and I'm currently 3,950 resets in. Not even a shiny Starly yet. I've gotten nothing. I'm going insane- I have begun to hear colours.

@@ImJustHutch but if you can breed Pokémon (like you can in all modern games) and every generated Pokémon has a 1/X chanse to be shiny. Then Pokémon can be shiny-hunted by breeding them
@@algotkristoffersson15 well for me, it’s also about doing different kinds of hunts. I’m not very interested in hatching a bajillion eggs unless it’s a special egg. I like starter resets, fossil hunts, safari zone, etc

I went through all of these emotions as I was shiny hunting my Dialga. The part about the need to continue after wasting too much time already or thinking that my copy of the game is just shiny locked for unexplainable reasons was me before 3400 resets to finally get that shiny.

I’ve never shiny hunted a starter, nor taken more than like 40 minutes to shiny hunt. I rage quit after that amount of time… I really admire the dedication put into this.
I did this hunt, going into it thinking it'd be "easy" (I did not do any research..) and boy oh boy was I wrong, but after 20 hours I knew I couldn't give up. Took me 80 hours to get my shiny monkey. BUT I DID IT, this video gave me the strength knowing others have suffered this fate.
I remember hearing a streamer say "It's a special moment when you get your first Shiny." Which got to me, because I've never gotten one aside from Red Gyaryados in Gold and Crystal.
If it makes you feel any better, my only legit shiny was a shiny magikarp I randomly fished up in gen 6 when everyone gets that shiny Gyarados for free lol

At the time I didn't even know about shinies, but I catch it anyway and green Marowak was a valuable team member who carried me and my Charizard all the way to Hall of Fame. But then I haven't catch or even seen a legitimate not-guaranteed shiny for many years, until pink Castform in Pokemon GO in 2019.

I did the same shiny hunt, except with Shining Pearl. Started the day the game launched, and finally got it the day after Legends Arceus came out. I don’t know how people make a career out of shiny hunting and stay sane, but you have my respect for pulling it off.

Here's a little story, recently I've gotten into rom hacks. And once I got around to playing blaze black 2 redux, my starter (snivy) was a shiny. I didn't even soft reset for it. It just happened, the full 1/512 shiny odds of that game just decided to bless me on my first mon. Since blaze black 2 makes the starters hidden ability I was able to storm through the game with a shiny contrary serperior. Very nice

Nicely done, and very lucky. Currently, Brilliant Diamond is my most-played Switch game... but all 285 hours have also gone to hunting Turtwig, at 6,914 resets (and I found *four* Starly thus far). Hoping to get it before Feb. 21, when the Mystery Gifts are no longer available. My brother's hunting Chimchar in Shining Pearl, and he's also around 6k (having found one Starly).

Omg I love this, Turtwig was my first ever starter when I played Diamond when I was 7 years old and I resetting for a shiny Turtwig. It took me 2 or 3 days until I got one and I couldn't be more happier with him :)
I've been actively hunting for a shiny Yanma in Arceus just to gift it to yah lol. It's rare to find someone around my age that loves Pokémon as much as I do, and since I've had good luck with shinies in Arceus, I thought I'd give that a go while I'm at it.
I found my first ever shiny yesterday after playing pokemon for over a decade! It was a Drifblim in a Distortion but I didn’t have any Pokeballs on me. I went to get some and when I came back, it was gone. Reloaded the save, now the distorsion was gone. Pain. (The reason I had no pokeballs was because I had by mistake put them into the item box while I was emptying my inventory and didn’t realize until it was too late. And I had no materials on me.)
Just from reading the title, I could already feel the pain... Having shiny-unlocked starters can be a good thing, as long as you don't take people's sanity in consideration. And Gamefreak(or ILCA) surely did not.
I'm soft resetting for Chimchar. I'm about 110 hours in and at 1,475 if I recall correctly. Gonna name the little darling Razzy after a raspberry. Congrats on your shiny!!! I see people constantly go "why would you do that? A new game came out in the time it took you." I've played the 3 original Sinnoh games and used all 3 starters, why not try with a shiny? I got a shiny mudkip as my starter in Omega Ruby during my second playthrough of Hoenn and it's been the best! Plus my bestie and I are hunting together, she's hunting Turtwig! It's really fun tbh :)
@@kweeniepiez you know that sometimes people prefer challenges over easy hunt? I think soft reseting his starter is more fun since you can litteraly start your adventure with a shiny. If everyone would be doing easier hunts everyone would hunt in the ultra-wormhole from USUL
@@kweeniepiez I prefer starting with the shiny. It's not fun if I catch it in an outbreak or later in the game because then I won't really use it. It's literally up to the individual person what they wanna do. And of course I know I can catch Pokemon that way. As I said, I've played through with all three starters so I figured why not shiny hunt the starter. It's easier for me to do it that way.

I started this hunt when the game first came out and I gave up at 400 resets. I could tell I was not going to be worth the time, and funnily enough now I am hunting Turtwig in platinum
I feel all of this pain. I decided about a week ago I wanted to actually, y'know, play the game when I got the uncatchable Starly. Kept that save because the Dex now shows I saw the Starly.
I've spent 160 hours (almost 5700 resets) for Shiny Turtwig and no Shiny Starly. This was my first time shiny hunting I felt like my game was shiny locked and I was about to abandon. I never felt so much joy when I saw the shiny Turtwig my hand couldn't stop shaking

I got a random shiny turtwig when you get a choice of your 2nd starter in alpha sapphire after you beat the elite 4 and didn't notice until a year later after I was going through my pokemon
I’m currently playing Alpha Sapphire and just found what I think is the neatest shiny right now, shiny Magcargo, it’s bright pink! 😁 And the Slugma is silver/grey, which is also pretty neat! 😄 The only other shiny I have caught so far in Alpha Sapphire is a Shiny blue Medicham! 😄

Turtwig’s shiny is basically identical to the original. I couldn’t even tell it was shiny until I saw the sparkles.
For real. I didn't realize I had caught one in arceus until at the very endgame whe I actually looked at it a bit closer.
That's why I didn't hunt the starters... One of my friends took about 120 hours before getting shiny Piplup

Between my brother (we're twins, so we've played all the games together) and me, we've completed 39 full-odds hunts (where the only modification can be the shiny charm), and only 8 of those have crossed the 2x mark. Hoping that number doesn't go up to 10.
Deep admiration. Been super into RNG’ing because the numbers game is so fun, but I’ve been thinking how fun it’d be to just step away from my computer windows and just lay in bed with the switch for a while, (especially after doing fuecoco eggs and getting that one, feels good!)
Omg I love this, Turtwig was my first ever starter when I played Diamond when I was 7 years old and I resetting for a shiny Turtwig. It took me 2 or 3 days until I got one and I couldn't be more happier with him :)

I've been actively hunting for a shiny Yanma in Arceus just to gift it to yah lol. It's rare to find someone around my age that loves Pokémon as much as I do, and since I've had good luck with shinies in Arceus, I thought I'd give that a go while I'm at it.

I found my first ever shiny yesterday after playing pokemon for over a decade! It was a Drifblim in a Distortion but I didn’t have any Pokeballs on me. I went to get some and when I came back, it was gone. Reloaded the save, now the distorsion was gone. Pain.
(The reason I had no pokeballs was because I had by mistake put them into the item box while I was emptying my inventory and didn’t realize until it was too late. And I had no materials on me.)
Just from reading the title, I could already feel the pain... Having shiny-unlocked starters can be a good thing, as long as you don't take people's sanity in consideration. And Gamefreak(or ILCA) surely did not.

I'm soft resetting for Chimchar. I'm about 110 hours in and at 1,475 if I recall correctly. Gonna name the little darling Razzy after a raspberry. Congrats on your shiny!!! I see people constantly go "why would you do that? A new game came out in the time it took you." I've played the 3 original Sinnoh games and used all 3 starters, why not try with a shiny? I got a shiny mudkip as my starter in Omega Ruby during my second playthrough of Hoenn and it's been the best! Plus my bestie and I are hunting together, she's hunting Turtwig! It's really fun tbh :)

you realize you can encounter a wild shiny chimchar in an outbreak and it would take like a half hour and you'd catch him? 😂😂
@@kweeniepiez you know that sometimes people prefer challenges over easy hunt? I think soft reseting his starter is more fun since you can litteraly start your adventure with a shiny. If everyone would be doing easier hunts everyone would hunt in the ultra-wormhole from USUL
@@kweeniepiez I prefer starting with the shiny. It's not fun if I catch it in an outbreak or later in the game because then I won't really use it. It's literally up to the individual person what they wanna do. And of course I know I can catch Pokemon that way. As I said, I've played through with all three starters so I figured why not shiny hunt the starter. It's easier for me to do it that way.

I started this hunt when the game first came out and I gave up at 400 resets. I could tell I was not going to be worth the time, and funnily enough now I am hunting Turtwig in platinum
I feel all of this pain. I decided about a week ago I wanted to actually, y'know, play the game when I got the uncatchable Starly. Kept that save because the Dex now shows I saw the Starly.

I've spent 160 hours (almost 5700 resets) for Shiny Turtwig and no Shiny Starly.
This was my first time shiny hunting I felt like my game was shiny locked and I was about to abandon. I never felt so much joy when I saw the shiny Turtwig my hand couldn't stop shaking

I’m currently playing Alpha Sapphire and just found what I think is the neatest shiny right now, shiny Magcargo, it’s bright pink! 😁
And the Slugma is silver/grey, which is also pretty neat! 😄
The only other shiny I have caught so far in Alpha Sapphire is a Shiny blue Medicham! 😄
