Thanks for the presentation. I really *try* to fall in love with my XLT (not at least in order to justify having spent a rather significant amount of money). Still, I find myself going back to the Cybertool, simply because of the size of the XLT.
It's not so much about size and weight for carrying. I keep my knife in the front pocket of my trousers, dangling from a belt loop, together with a small flashlight. That makes a rather big package anyways and makes the difference in size between the Cybertool and the XLT almost negligible while carrying.
However, I really find the XLT to be too cumbersome for many practical applications.
Just some examples: both the Philips and the straight drivers are so far off-center that it becomes an issue: the center of rotation simply isn't close to the screws anymore. Of course, I could use the bit driver instead in most occasions, but then I wouldn't really need the dedicated drivers.
Another example: the trick with the pen stuck underneath the hook for writing: Works beautifully for all other models I have, but the XLT simply is too big to be held as a pen.
I wouldn't really know how to fix those issues, because a huge number of useful tools of course means a huge package.
So in the end, for my situation it simply is more reasonable and ergonomic to give up on the additional tools and stick to the Cybertool, "degrading" the XLT to sit on the shelf as the undoubted king or queen of my collection ;)

Thank you! I totally agree its size is really huge, and for some stuff, it is just too much thick and cumbersome. With time now I would rather go for the SwissChamp or CyberTool (depending on what I need) than the XLT. It's a really beautiful piece of collection though. I think when collecting Victorinox it's one to have with the XAVT as well. For the off-center issue I totally agree too, if you use it on some occasions it can be fine but if you're planning on using this often it's really annoying. Nevertheless the XLT is a really beautiful one to me and a masterpiece ;)

      @@aleksejalex I don't know whether you're asking me or Thomas but I mostly use the M (34) and sometimes the L (41).

@@aleksejalex And if you are asking me: the Cybertool L (i.e. 41).
For my lifestyle (in the great outdoors at least once or twice per week) always having both the wood saw and the file/metal saw are definitely worth the extra bulk.
And even during normal workdays at the office I appreciate having the file, if only to fix my fingernails 😉

I am a 77 yo Dutch male and I bought an XLT in 2004 for €159. Since then it is in my pocket. We also bought one for my wife! I am sure there are not many women on the planet with an XLT. Before the XLT I had smaller Victorinoxes. O....We are not allowed in a plane together.😢

*I personally like the 'Champ' but would not mind having an 'XLT'*
*The 'Super' is more a 'Presentation' piece than anything else, because if it's ever dropped in water all the electronics for the 'Time' etc. functions are RUINED thereafter, and 'Vic' will not replace it*
    _________
*I also like the idea of replacing the 'Toothpick' w/a ferrite-rod for fire-starting...a much better option than than the 'Pick' and I'm surprised that 'Vic' has not offered that feature already considering the 'Champ' is all about a 'personal survival tool in your pocket'*

      @@K4TAndMore *I agree 100%!*
*But...it's overall size makes it difficult to 'pocket' very well and it really should be in a pouch or belt-clip and so many tools in such close proximity makes it almost impossible to use if one hand is damaged*
( *This also true of the regular 'Champ' as well...you really need the fingers of each hand to use the various implements* )
      ___________
*Even with all the advances in 'Survival' and 'Tool' types of knives the 'Champ' still ranks '#1' because of size and 'what it offers' despite being smaller than other makes with much heavier blades and tools that are far more 'Military'-type knives than a 'pocket knife' like the 'Champ'*
( *Besides...they are 'Beauty in Engineering' just to look at* )
