    The spatula may be a good butter knife and for peanut butter too.

    I've had an XLT for a few years and it is permanently attached to my belt. It gets used every day in work (broadcast engineer) and at home. Although it's quite big for a 'pocket knife' I scarcely notice it in everyday use. That once got me in to trouble when I went through security at the Champion's League final in Cardiff whilst working on the TV coverage. I'd put all my kit on the x-ray airport style scanner and walked through the metal detector. Yep, bad move. The XLT had become so much part of me that I completely forgot about it. Numpty!

    Based on the price I would say get the cybertool you would still have enough money left over for a new swisschamp as well. The bulk of the xlt is a tad thick for manipulating effectively but is obviously the more comprehensive tool set . I wouldn't replace the xlt if I lost it put it that way . Hope that helps and thank you for watching!

    Quite a knife, or should I call it a multi-tool. I own six or seven different Victorinox knives. Kept getting them for presents for years. Never had one break or fail. Always have one on me while in town, or out camping. They make a great product. That sheath for the knife is nice.

    Cool review 👍. I'm really attracted to the titanic SAKs but I think this one is probably getting too big for me. The Cybertool L is probably the biggest I'd go - same size as the Champ but no fish hook remover or magnifying glass with a bit driver instead.

      I agree with you the xlt is a bit big to easily edc, that and I would be pretty upset if I lost it as they are expensive for me the Swiss champ has everything I need day to day and its a third of the price of the xlt. Now I'm am trying to justify getting a xvat 😁

    Thank you for your service! I ordered a Swiss Champ a couple of days ago, should have it by next weekend. I'm quite excited. I just wanted to see what additional tools of XLT were. The spatula could be used as a tongue suppressor but that would be of little use. I could do without the tool bits, extension and electrician's blade as well. Thank you for the quick overview!

    *The 'Parcel-Hook' has another dedicated function...it's used for 'pulling-tension' on a bicycle-chain while adjusting the 'slack'* ( *'Vic' itself says so...not just a guess on my part* )

      *ps...I'm lusting badly for 'the BIG ONE' but...the minute you drop it in water,the LCD-functions will be ruined!* *The small LED-light won't be damaged so that's a plus...but the permanent loss of the 'LCD' is just too much, at least to me it is* *Having a good 'bit-driver' is an 'A+' for the 'XLT'...the drawback is the surface-hardening on the 'bits' themselves is just not very good*

    Great overview of all the tools! Personally I would prefer to split these tools in separate knives. Atm carrying a Spirit X and a Midnite Minichamp which combined have the tools I want. Remarkable how well the Spirit X fits in a trouser pocket, no sharp edges. Would love to try a Cybertool sometime. It looks like it would fit a niche in my toolkit that has not been filled yet. Also looking at the Compact to replace the Minichamp as backup blade. I think some pocket knife/ multitool manufacturers do not recognize how important it is to have rounded edges on something you carry in a pocket.

    • @mountainbearoutdoors
      @mountainbearoutdoors  3 роки тому +1

      thank you for visiting, I have recently picked up a spirit myself and I love how easy it is to carry, with hindsight I should have got the spirit X with the plain edge blade. I dont think I will be carrying the XLT much as its a bit bulky compared to my champ. Oddly enough the tool i use the most is the minichamp on my keys, I would replace it if I lost it without a doubt.

      @@mountainbearoutdoors I was wondering if the XC was better: I have to cut a lot of rope and 'bread knife' seems to be better for that task and looks capable enough for other cutting tasks. A little harder to sharpen I can Imagine. But what is your experience?

    • @mountainbearoutdoors
      @mountainbearoutdoors  3 роки тому +1

      @@christiaannooteboom7059 The bread knife is great for rope or string I haven't tried to sharpen mine yet though it's only ground on one side so I imagine it's going to be a pain to do compared to the normal straight blades. Especially all those little aberrations, I do have a diamond needle file that I can touch them up with though.

      @@mountainbearoutdoors Thank you for your response! I will have to get my hands on a XC model at some point and try it out.
