Well he was wrong. It’s a speed limit, doesn’t mean you have to be riding up to the maximum speed on any zone. Weather conditions, amount of traffic, how you are feeling, etc.
@@DenisOKeeffe1234 Outside factors like weather obviously need to be taken into account when choosing the right speed. No one is going to argue that. But if you're constantly going too slow & impeding the flow of traffic just because you're "not feeling well" you have absolutely no business being on the road.
@@philipe.9466 it can be frustrating, but I would rather be frustrated with a driver doing 20mph in a 30 mph zone, than someone speeding in a urban environment
@@DenisOKeeffe1234 Driving too slow, even though the circumstances would allow you to drive the speed limit, only encourages frustrated drivers to do risky overtakes. Going too slow is just as dangerous as going too fast in my book.
its the infamous 40 crew as i call them that really get me. your riding along national roads and catch up to a car doing 40. aggravating enough but then you come to a 30 and they remain steadfast at 40. had an instance where i overtook one in the national only for them to overtake me at 40 in a 30 then when its back to nationals im round them again. every time im stuck behind one it just baffles me of what bizarre thought process of driving is going through there head.
With regards to the speed limit, the same goes for cars. On your driving and riding test there is a part that do test your speed. For motorcycles, it's parts 17. 'Use of speed', 18, Following distance, and 19. Progress. Progress has two parts, 'appropriate speed' and undue hesitation'. You need to show that you're going the correct speed, and for the most part that's as fast as possible within the speed limit. The target for 30 mph roads is just that, 30mph. If you're trungling along at 23mph in a 30 you're going to get hit with a minor. If you do not speed up to the speed limit, pull out of a junction when possible, or even in some cases over take or filter (part 21, judgement overtaking/filtering), you'll get hit with things like undue hesitation. Going 60mph on a national road when it's safe to do so is 100% the target speed, you'd probably fail your test if you didn't do so.
Excellent to see it back on the road... Has such a sweet exaust tone! Emergency stops - practice all the time, so the progressive application of the brakes becomes a learned response to override any panic reaction. Also practice in the wet. My pet hate... Folk who drive everywhere at 40mph.... Even through a thirty....GGGGGRAAAAARRRGHH!

I was riding home one evening and I wanted to test to make sure my brakes were still good. (also wanted to do a little stoppie, but shhhh). I checked my mirrors and nothing was behind me. I went 1, 2, 3 "Oh no, a rogue child on the road!" and braked as hard as I could. (a tiny stoppie happened.) I then felt air pressure from behind me. Turned around and there was a car about a foot from my rear wheel with the guy gesticulating at me wildly. No fucking clue where he came from. There was at least 200ft of clear road behind me when I checked, so unless he was going like the fucking clappers down a country lane... My mirrors are shit. So just really do make sure no ones behind you. Or is able to teleport behind you.
Totally agree about slow drivers. I've been absolutely roasted, for pointing this out on my videos. But here are 2 facts:- 1 During your driving test, you should drive, as close too, as if safely possible to do so, the posted speed limit, or you 'will' fail your test. 2 Government survey has shown, more people are seriously injured or killed, by slow driving incidents, than fast driving incidents. Ride safe and have fun, Grumps
My chain has a bit of rust. Is it a good idea to get a wire brush and brush it straight away or should I degrease it first and then brush it and grease it again?
if it were me I would use some cleaner and the brush to start, then clean it all off properly and then re-lube it. I will also say if any of the links are stiff or stuck the chain has to be replaced.
My driving instructor many, many decades ago, used to say you'll fail for failing to make normal progress if you don't drive up to the speed limit.

That is obvious, the point is where you can and is safe to do so. I.e a car on a clear road in clear conditions travelling at 20mph in a 30 limit.

I live in Cumbria so I'm all to familiar with the 40mph crew. Is it just me or are they all either Volvo's or Toyota's?

I had a 2014 CB500F. It was awesome. Not the fastest, and not as fancy as the lastest 500's, but it was a great bike for me.
