This is it! my whooooole process for how to paint a character in Procreate on the ipad!
If you want to learn how to paint characters from start to finish on your ipad or in the computer, in Procreate, Photoshop or any other painting software, here is my workflow.
In only 7 steps you can get your character from sketch to final painting.
If you have more questions about how to paint materials, or how to paint values, colors, or any other art question please tell me in the comments and I'll try to make a video about it :).
Thank you for watching!

Haha so happy that you guys got the reference 😁

So funny
As soon as I heard it, I came looking for this comment
You don’t know how happy it made me when you said the first step was references. I NEED references but I always thought that “actual” artists didn’t use them and I just needed them because I just art as a hobby :))
Hahaha that is very nice to hear . Yes, there is always such a prejudice against using referneces and I'll never understand why.. We all need them :)
This is so well made!! I love how u didn’t start with a sketch and immediately show a fully created piece hoping the viewers would understand but ACTUALLY EXPLAINED SO CLEARLY!!
Very happy to hear that TT, it still seems some people didn't understand the whole thing, so I'll probably still do a slower one later :)

2:00 I love that subtle Friends reference
haha thank you
Hey Guys tip here: if you tried to colour drop and it fill up all the page instead of a specific part, you have to adjust your colour drop threshold. To do so hold down to the colour instead of releasing it to the specified spot then a message will pop up at the top telling you how great your Threshold is (slide your pencil left and right to adjust it) the lower the percentage the more specified it will be. Like the comment if it help you to let more people see it please.

I found this video by chance on the UA-cam wall, and I'm really so happy to have seen it because it inspired me to improve myself. Obviously the first thing I did once I finished was sign up and see the rest! You are a fantastic artist!

Thank you for posting this video, Lucas. I love how your piece turned out. It has a lot of interesting elements and really is enjoyable to look at, even as someone who hasn't see the movie.
I've been dabbling in digital painting lately (as opposed to use of lineart) and I've been exploring others' processes to see if mine in similar and to see if I can pick up any tips and this was very helpful. Your videos in general have been very helpful and I look forward to trying out your brush as well. Thank you for sharing. :)
I'm back a few hours later and I'd just like to say, I love this brush so much and I appreciate you sharing it with us *so* much. It will definitely be a staple in my work moving forward. Thank you for sharing your work with us. Hope you're doing well.

I'm horrible at drawing animals yet the first time I'm doing a digital painting, the first time I'm using this technique, and the first time I'm drawing Toothless, is all in one canvas. I loved this video and I hope to use this more in the future!
Your art is legit prolly the best art I've seen. Props to you.
I want procreate even more now! Those effects and that easy drag and drop fill! Your art is clean and luscious it hurts. Thank you for posting 💖
Yeah, Procreate is a great tool😉 Thank you for your comment
that was stupidly impressive - and simple - bro.
Thank you very much 😁
The coloring is so smooth i love it!
I just got Procreate and your tutorial is making me so excited to launch a project! Thank you for your content!
You can fill in the colour faster by using the selection tool. You don’t need to drag and drop every time and it saves a lot of time
That is a good idea! I'll try it!
I find that that method doesn’t fill all the pixels at the edges for some reason
I’m sure you can hold down and slide to add more or less fill, not sure as don’t have my iPad with me at the moment but it should be the same as the colour drop where you slide to select
after selecting go to select and then modify and then expand put 1 or 2 there and it will come cover all the pixels
“Paper, snow, a ghost!” Earned him a sub😂

I LAUGHED sooo hard "Paper, snow... A GHOST!" xDD awesome reference
Thank you Dafne, glad you got the reference 😉
Would be good to know how he included the occlusion and lighting like what mode the layer is in. Normal? Multiply?
Hi Jerica, I believe his Occlusion layer is set to multiply (using dark colour), and Light he does something quite different, He creates a new Colour dodge layer and erases the sections he doesnt want. I hope this helps. bye bye
Absolutely beautiful drawing
