i don’t know what happened today, but i finished three drawings! and the best part is… I’m actually proud of all three. i started taking art a lot more seriously this year, and you’ve been a huge inspiration for me. ive been going through a lot of tutorials and practicing a lot for the last few months. ive been having the most real drawing improvement in a while, so thanks for everything!
3 pieces in a day?? Oh wow. Meanwhile me trying to complete my sketch for 3 days straight. It was a perspective&pose I wasn't familiar with, hands, didn't have a proper pose or hand reference but still 3 FLIPPIN DAYS were a bit too much, I felt kinda burnt out after it and I'm scared to mess up in the colouring process since I'm still inexperienced when it comes to rendering with an actual background, so I ended up leaving it to chill for a while ahahah NO I DIDN'T ABANDON IT I DIDN'T.
Im not exactly an art baby, Ive been drawing digitally since 2018 and drawing in general since forever (self-taught). When I see a speedpaint of an artwork I like I get amused but im not really learning anything. Or like those tutorials that are basically "do this, now do this, now do this" without telling you WHY theyr're doing what they're doing. Let me just say that *this* is what people (I) need. A piece made from scratch, references shown and explained WHY you chose them and WHAT are you incorporating from them in your drawing. Every single step explained just right so that the video doesnt end up 2-4 hours long (which is what I think took you making this piece). Very good job Sam, not only on the piece itself but also for teaching the right way.
Same I’ve also been drawing since 2018 and Sam’s videos really help with what I’m missing in my art. I’ve always gotten stuck on the details and not fully looking at what I want in a drawing. I’ve been able to make some good pieces in my time of drawing but I always feel as if I’m missing something. I think these videos are helping me figure out what I’m missing and how I can improve :D
Sam is basically the reason why I started art during the covid pandemic. Now I can create the arts I want from my head unlike before where they looked like some stickman figures.
I have yet to watch the video, but oh my gosh, I know this is going to help me SO MUCH! I recently got procreate but I’ve been having trouble with a lot of things, so thank you for making this video. You’re doing a great job at teaching the art babies, such as me. You’re doing a great job-keep up the great work! ❤
Hello Sam! I really hope you see this, I am an art baby who has recently started trying digital art AND painting people (I used to draw exclusively landscapes in traditional) and your videos have really helped me a lot! Thank you 😊
I love your energy, descriptions, piecing and jokes. Makes it really easy to stay engaged while learning. I was recently gifted an iPad and I’m so used to traditional artwork that I’m not sure where to start digitally. Like you said, it’s easy to start with a sketch and not know where to go from there! Thanks!
Just bought an ipad. Once procreate installed, the YT algorythm lead me to you! Dude this is dope : your art is truly inspiring and beautiful. Thx for sharing.
No matter how hard I try, or how many art supply stores I visit.... I just can't seem to find that damn clipping mask! They're either always out of stock or don't carry it. So frustrating! 😉
I started digital art 2 years ago, on a pretty cheap tablet and a free drawing website, and then got a more expensive paper tablet (which unfortunately has zero color) and followed along, and in the time the video was playing, I made a sketch I'm really proud of based off of the tips you gave and the drawing you made with my own characters. It's probably my favorite sketch I've made so far on this tablet.
Thank you, Sam, for teaching us all these great tips in digital!!! ❤❤❤ I've got 20+ sketches that never went any further because I get overwhelmed easily. Your process of going from the background forward really solved a lot of issues for me. Ima test this new found power!!
I've been using procreate for a time and haven't really found a comprehensive tutorial that gives detailed steps. This really helped me understand some better techniques. Thank you for this!
I'm so glad I found you on UA-cam sand, your art style is so amazing, and the way you teach makes me actually interested, because it's not boring, you make it fun and interesting. Thank you, Sam!
Bro I actually cannot keep a straight face when I think about the fact that some men in suits sat down and decided to name their drawing software procreate. It's so wild I can't bro. PROCREATE. I cannot believe it
You have no idea how helpful this video is. For real you describe things so effortlessly and the steps are all i wanted to learn about digital painting for a LONG time..subscribed
Your voice and delivery to an info is so soothing it makes me think calm and perceive things more clearly. Learned so much and my anxiety about what I lack definitely is less now. Thank you!
Can I just say you are really rocking the new hairstyle and the tattoo goes really well w it. Plus I wish I could get to study art from you irl. I promise you are the biggest source of positivity in my current life and I just found you 6 months ago. Your videos bring me utmost joy. I have improved my art so much, due to you. My ipad is broken and its really expensive to be fixed rn but when it gets fixed you bet I am gonna download procreate and buy stylus and subscribe your patreon so I can proceed my creativity more. Thank you I am very gratefull
This was unintentionally perfect. Just started a piece that has back lighting like this and I was unsure how to properly utilise layers and colouring to make it work. This helped a lot.
It's those kind of videos that really motivate me to start practicing composition, drawing humans, and colors theory 🤣 That was amazing and well explained, it seems so easy when you do it 😅
This is both wonderful and hysterical to me because I have been watching you for years and my husband has been playing pubg for years - our worlds collided! Incroyable, merci sam !
I am more of a traditional artist, and digital means have always scared me. But this looks easy. Not intimidating at all. Thank you so much! Maybe I can overcome my fears and try it out.
This was so great! I'm so horribly technical and precise in my art, no hard lines ever, but you give such a sense of freedom in chonky blocks of color and it's gorgeous!!!

im so thankful abouth this because i had alot of trouble drawing, where i keep changing my style and i just couldnt finish it at all because i kept fixing my mistakes again and again until i get artblock, which causes me to change my styles. now after i watched this, it improved my style, and rendering, i thank you for this video it meant alot to me and my favorite (not so favorite) hobby, art. so thank you, Sam :))
Thank you for this vid!! Been hesitant to create fully rendered pieces for a while for fear of getting really stuck and not knowing really what I'm doing lol! But yes we are our worst critic and we really just have to keep creating and building the muscle memory. Sketching is easier now that I practiced alot, now gotta move to rendering more often. HUGE thanks again, pacing and explanation in this vid was perfect!
I can't help but be proud that I know almost all of this stuff. Mostly thanks to your Wlop art explanation video. I'm not really good at making complex compositions yet though, but I know that I'll eventually get better at it.
