I like most factions except the Beastmen, Dark Elves and maybe Warriors of Chaos but my favs are the Skaven and Vampire Coast. I like them both for their comical personalities, their unit designs and the hilarity of being a giant douche to everyone in the campaign as part of their playstyle. For Skaven specifically, I like their versatility but still appreciate that they have clear weaknesses and I love that every unit is themed towards a specific clan. For the Vampire Coast, I just love pirate/nautical themes and their huge artillery focus meant that siege battles are generally more explosive than usual. Both factions also have my fav lords: Queek Headtaker and Luthor Harkon.

Rise of the Tomb Kings is by far the best DLC to this date.
Favorite Faction is a hard one. From gameplay its most likely the Empire Expedition in Lustria. Otherwise its a tough call between Dwarfs and High Elves. I enjoy the artstyle and the possibilities it grants when drawing them. Beastmen also fit into this.

Yeah. It's not even close IMO. Rise of the Tomb Kings brought a fully featured faction, a totally unique playstyle, and a great campaign. TK remains the most fun faction to play in campaign for me to this day, thanks to their unique recruitment mechanics and how fun the books of Nagash are to gether.

The Skaven are my favorite faction as they're so fun! Looking from a high-level they have some of the best and craziest artillery and ranged firepower, some form of magic for every occasion (Warp lightning being my favorite spell), endless swarms of infantry, fun LL's and campaign mechanics (Ikit and Snikch more so), and in general their thematic appeal is just nailing it on so many levels with their various clans and sneaky Skaven ways.
If anyone hasn't tried them yet, I highly recommend it!

My favorite faction? That's a tough one. I like the dwarves, because of their durability and cannons. You can rely on them to be there until the end, even against bad odds. Also they get good technological advancements and a lot of money per turn during campaigns, if you build your buildings right.
I like the lizardmen, because they are also very durable, but they have a bit more flanking power than the dwarves. Their monster units give you extra power to push through enemy lines and take down high value targets more easily. Their geomantic-web is cool thing and it can boost your cities during the end game.
I like the skaven, because they have almost everything. If you play Skryre, you can put enemies full of holes before they get to your defensive lines. Bombard them with artillery and mortars also. If you play Eshin, you can be very sneaky with your troops. Send a diversion to enemy gates and send a small tactical unit from the other side of their castle to capture the city center. The only thing that they lack is good infantry, but that's to be expected.
I really like the greenskins. Grom was awesome when he came into play and I would say that his cauldron makes the faction borderline OP. Just give your shitty goblin archer explosive arrows and blow enemies into little red blobs. Grom makes the goblis to be good and reliable tanks, so it's why I like him.
I have a sort of hate/love relationship with the Empire. I've never learned to appreciate their infantry, but I really like the Markus Wulfhart campaign. To be a hunter in Lustria and hunt big lizards. Also their more zealous aspect is awesome. Just take The Grim and full stack of flagellants into the field, and you'll have a blast. What's more fun than bunch of religious zealots, am I right?
I like the vampire coast, because of their free-spirited take on the campaign. You can sail the seas and raid the coast line as much as you like. Just started the Vampire Coast campaign and it's a blast.
Also the beastmen are cool. Just take Khazrak and have -95% upkeep for bestigores. It's awesome. They have good infantry, AWESOME monsters (minotaurs for every ocasion) and good speed.
I really like most of the factions in the game.

The vampire counts are my favorite, I just like their campaign mechanics and units. Just spam zombis and skellets mix in some heroes, some vargheists and terror wolves form a line of death, let the enemy take u head on..see how your skelles „die“ and boom! Kill half the enemy army with magic and clear the rest with your monsters. Thier campaign buffs are HUGE and just let your zombis die in battle gives your hero 3?% more life and after doing that enough times just recruite hightier units out of nowhere. When u have vlad van carstein legendary campaign is even easier with vanguard deployment. Just take care of the draves early on and u will finish the campaign as easy as eating a pizza.

Similarly, the V.coast is a very close second only behind because i love dwarves in rpgs and i dislike undead factions in general. Queen Bess is a sight to behold, though.

    Favorite Faction?
Skaven easily. At first i wasnt interested but once digged a little into the history of the race it picked my curiosity. I really love all the wicked machinery and horrible creations at their disposal, i find the early game of overwhelming your enemy really fun.
I love how despite the skaven being a cowardly race you have this lords that each one breaks with the mold of what one might think an skaven should be . From Queeks insual bravery, Skorlks pestilent devotion, Ikits mad genius to Snikchs composed demeanor......oh yeah Trencht also exists
I had a lot of fun creating "thematic" armies for each lord during my clan Skryre campaing.
Lastly i love the spectacle of light that ensues when the whole skaven death-kill machinery gets in motion.
i recently was watching a reaplay: 4 skaven armies v High elves armies. Having Snikch, Queek, Ikit and Trencht on my side.
Loads of sisters of avalon, Ratling guns and Jezzelz......it was carnage. Just seing that much chaos is really fun.
All that said, as someone who plays camaping only i have to say, whomever puted the "have 50% corruption on all you owned regions" as a victory condition, can rot in hell.
    DLC?
thats hard. Warlock and the prophet added really good units to the skaven army and while i like Ikit i love Snikdchs concepts much more. Shadow and the Blade added a new area to map, wich is always welcome, mortars are a good adition and playing clan eshin can be really fun.
But then is the warden and the paunch. I liked greenskin but their rough edges always disuaded me from finishing a campaing. With that one they fixed a lot of problems i had with the greenskins and they introduced Grom. Not only i really liked the concept of Grom when i heard of it way before dlc, but i also find it real fun. His cauldron helps you boost gobbos to insane degrees and Grom can be made an imortal chariot of death.
So in the end i have to go with the Warden and the Paunch (despite the MANY bugs that it has brought)

Beastmen are my fav. Love the guerrilla fighting/horde aspect even if it has a lot of problems. Also first to have an ambush attack stance, which skaven and alith has now, but I still feel it is most thematic on beastmen.

I have two favorite factions that I just can't chose over, it also that they are somewhat similar their battle playstyle if not their campaign and late game units.
The High Elves and The Empire.
I love High Elves because I love efficiency and they can be efficient and look good doing it, no wander their so pompous.
With the newest DLC they now have all basic lores of magic which will give them the magical advantage no matter what, Their Cavalry are no joke and when the hit a weakened enemy that are wounded from their superior range of arrows, oof. And of course, arguably the most powerful units in their roster, DRAGONS, I always love dragons and I'll always will!
Then there is The Empire The largest and most powerful of all the human kingdoms.
Like the Elves, The Empire is about efficiency, if in a different manner. The humans will always have a physical disadvantage to most other races but they make up for it with ingenuity and undying courage which I can respect greatly. From the Dwarves they've learned the wonders of Gunpowder, but unlike the Dwarves who hate change The Empire engineers are willing to try all sorts of crazy things with the stuff including freaking tanks! From the Elves they've mastered the lores of magic, and though they can't control it as well as the Elves, they still have a wide selection to chose from to give them the advantage on any battlefield.
And good Sigmar, the Cavalry, Demi-griff Knights are by far my favorite unit in the game, they are just as badass as they look!
And both Factions do require a bit of kingdom management to put them at their greatest efficiency and I do enjoy my fair share of management, though I will say that I don't mind the Orc's lack of it. ^^

My favorite multiplay faction is the Warriors of Chaos. I just generally love their army, mostly aggressive with the overall best infantry in the game and incredible monster. As well as having the option for a more defensive army with hell cannons and skirmish cav.
Sarthorael being the best lord (in my opinion) also doesn't hurt. That 50% missile resist on an unbreakable large unit that can cast magic is amazing. The fact that it's lore of metal makes it even better because plague of rust really synergizes with a lot of the units in the chaos roster. Why bring chosen great weapons that will die to missile fire when you can bring chosen axe and shield and just cast plague of rust on their target? Plague of rust also gives you a really good reason to pick chaos knights over dragon ogres.

my favorite faction is the vampire counts. the campaign of managing corruption in your provinces and being able to raise a huge horde to defend against an attacker is just too much fun. in battle, the counts can't use any ranged so being able to flank and keep an anvil steady for the monster hammer brings a lot of fun in battle, also being able to resurrect your units is fun too.

Empire, as my heart is always with men. But I also love what a beast army I have with my Baltazar Gelt melting enemies hellfire rockets and shredding them with handgunners shots. Devastating damage. Faith, Steel and Gunpowder.
Second are Lizardmen. They are on good side, they are brave and give melee hardtime to all this chaos flith lorewise. Love them visually as I like dinos (who doesn't). And from gameplay, they seem to get strognly covered every battle aspect, even artillery. So good stoic and quite damaging frontline, amazing stalky poisoning chameleon skinks that are very hard to counter, gigantic dinosauruses breaking enemy lines, greatest magic users and fckn Mazdamundi. All is part of he plan. (They also rekt orcs, Zerki)

The lizards are kinda charming to me because while not perfect they seem to treat their tiny races pretty decently. There are some mechanics primarily from the tabletop game where they kinda just feel better having their little skink buddies around. In most other cases in fantasy (dragons with their kobolds or orcs and their goblins etc) the big guys don't care what happens to the little guys in a scrap or what have you.
Thus I thought the big skink priest sounded like a good idea to play since I like the little guys so much too. But 3x more expensive saurus units reeeeeeally hurts. Time for a front line of all javelin cohorts to at least lob poison at them before getting steamrolled.

The thing I like the most about Warhammer, is how all factions are cool, how I like them all in their own way.
Yet, my allegiance goes to the Witch King, my lord Malekith. When I first started painting, we had 3 army books, dark elves, bretonians and orks. The 6th edition cover for the dark elf army book was so cool that I instantly fell in love with it. So I started delving into their lore. I've always liked elves in general, and while the aesthetic of the high elves is nice, very elven, after knowing how they where treacherous selfish bastards, I can't stand them. It's their fault for not recognizing the true king that the civil war happened and the ancient glory of the elves declined. Actually it hasn't been until Eltharion that I have played a high elf campaign, all the other LL disgust me, especially having to hear Tyrion say "I'm the heir of Aenarion" every time I go to faction select starting a new campaign. No you're not, you're a disgrace like all of your kind.

High elves win it for my favorite race, Nagarythe in particular, and it is really in thanks to 40k's Eldar, which I was first introduced to. When I learned about Fantasy I was so entertained by how the Eldar kind of seemed like a marriage of the High Elf and Dark Elf lore in Fantasy. Hardest campaign:
    1 Markus Wulfhart
You don't have all tour rooster available from the start,
you start right away against three early game factions that are hard to kill, hard hitting and both at the same time. Lizardmen, Vampire coast and Savage orks.
The more you conquer. The more debuff and malus you get, and the ai units get substantial weapon strength buff the more you progress. If you play on very hard, when you reach the max threshold. Savage ork tribe are impossible to fight in melee.
You have basically no ally. Apart from the new world colonies there is no friendly faces around you.
    2 Belegar Ironhammer
Absurdly high upkeep for all your units
    You are surrounded by enemies.
The grudge mechanic will be a constant thorn on your shoes. The fact that you don't have Karak eight peaks is a constant grudge, if you linger to much far from eight peaks you will start to endure severe public order penalties.
    3 Malus Darkblade
The campaign is hard because of the possession mechanic. No matter on which side of the possession meters you are, you will be struck with substantial debuff. Either to Malus' states or to your replenishment rate.
You are also really far from any allies despite to be military allies with Nagarond.
    4 Skarsnik
Cannot recruit any orks until he gets to Karak eight peaks.
Surrounded by enemies with no allies in sight. Literally as his back against the order tide.
    5 Tehenauin
Cannot recruit Saurus units until he as unlocked his final prophecy.
He can only rely on skinks as the backbone of his army.
The reason he is lower on the list is because he can easily find allies nearby is starting position and that his enemies are not really that impressive at the start of his campaign.
Special mention ( Chaos and Beastmen but mostly because their campaign suck and are boring to death )

Next thing ya know I started winning more and now I have warm fuzzy feelings while playing lizardmen. Also they're a Faction of dinosaurs that ride other dinosaurs that's pretty cool :)

I have 2 favourites the first is the vampires because there is nothing more satisfying than using worthless meat shields like zombies and dropping a wind of death, you can just watch the enemy evaporate.
The 2nd is the lizardmen because of the dinos. Watching a carnasor a steggadon and the shredder of lustria fight is a sight to behold.

My favorite DLC is Blood for the Blood God! - Said by nobody ever. Except maybe some CA executives. Anyhow, this will be long and campaign focused.
Seriously, its gotta be Vampire Coast. CA was already on the right track after TK dlc, and Vcoast is like them, but more fun. Making coves, challenging the pirates for shanties, digging for treasure. Sure, most of these dont really fit into the usual Total War stick, but still, many fun mechanics. Only shame they cant confed and one has to resort to modding to have the best pirates under his fleet.
As for favorite races, there are a lot I can say I personally like for some reason or another. Favorite has to go to High Elves overall. As a long standing mmo player, I can make most of my characters as heroes or lords, and thats a roleplay opportunity that never gets old for me. Aesthetically they are pleasing, their armies can go multiple ways, and they have the most and the best dragons. Financially also one of the most op factions, and being on the middle, they can go anywhere, even if they are sorta locked taking Naggaroth first. Easy n1.
Silver medal can go to dark elves. They are everything I can say about high elves, just somewhat worse. They will never be my favorite faction combat wise - DPS is just not as good as tanking in this game, but they are more than good enough. Aesthetically they are also pleasing, albeit for a different reason than high elves.
Bronze is probably Skaven at this point. Honestly, they are fun now. Even Rictus would be lowkey more enjoyable than some WH1 factions, but of course the fun is where rat Grievous and master Splinter are. Those contracts and workshop, god so op and so fun at the same time. Watching nukes go off, using Warp Lightning like 100 times per battle, or WW2 weaponry shredding medieval/ancient era units never gets old.
Going off the rails and turning the tide, the only faction I cant enjoy atm whatsoever is Beastmen. Outdated and few mechanics, the worst aesthetics in Warhammer fantasy - I find mindless brutes trope infinitely boring. The time needed to have a Cygor- Minotaur army, the most fun one can have is just too much to put up with all the other crap.
Following them upwards gotta be Norsca. Pretty much the same, except they are Vikings so thats a bonus point. Not having walls or not occupying every settlement hurts them immensely. And instead of raiding the humans, the Ordertide raiding you doesnt help either. Their army roster is very balanced - and fairly uneffective - until mammoths. After mammoths, they become boring.
The third worst faction, who would have thought, Chaos. Vanilla Chaos is terrible. I understand they'll get a lot of new stuff in WH3, but they are the butt of the joke for years. Funnily enough, using mods- such as SFO, Shawmuscle's or Chaos Dwarves, their campaign instantly jumps to one of the best.
Next tier consists of Bretonnia and Wood Elves. I had two crappy Bretonnia campaigns so far, and they were the 1st and only faction I tried in Warhammer 1. Playing them was so meh, I dropped the game and forgot about it for years. Doesnt help that how horses work in TWWH is infinitely worse compared to old titles. Sure, flying cavalry is fun, but they got no other saving grace in my eyes whatsoever. They are the most op AI faction and you always go up against them lategame, their enemies are few and easy to defeat, and once you confeded everyone from tech, the campaign is basically won.
Wood Elves - I actually havent played all the way through yet. They are elves, yes, and I love elves, and dont mind the nature aesthetics. Having no siege whatsoever is something I cant get behind though. Their garrisons are good for nothing, and amber is annoying obviously. Nice that Waywatchers eliminate a unit in two volleys, but to have a decent army needs way more preparation than a just as op archer army with either dark elves or high elves.
At this point, I'll probably divide it to two more tiers. Lower tier: Dwarves, Greenskins, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts
Higher tier: Vampire Coast, Lizardmen, Empire
In both of these tiers, I like all of the races and its easy to have fun in their campaigns. No serious drawbacks, Im down to play them pretty much whenever.
Greenskins I disliked for very long, mainly for their aesthetics. I basically hate orcs in nearly every fantasy. They got no redeeming qualities, and they are pretty much always irredeemable bad guys. Goblins I never cared for either. - Luckily in WH fantasy, they got a fun element and with newest dlc, and some prievous SFO mechanics, that saved them for me. Grom is legit fun, and I cant really say an LL I dislike anymore on their roster. The newest dlc definitely upped them in my eyes. Prievous they would have been below Chaos on my list.
Vampire Counts by all standards shouldnt be enjoyable - no ranged or siege for someone like me who loves cheesing them. Their underdog status and magics save them, though. If you go Vampire Count you know all you'll ever fight will be Ordertide. But given that you are the player, you can play Vcount optimally, not like a retarded five year old known as Vcount AI. Felling Elector Counts and Dwarf Kingdoms one by one can be really satisfying.
Dwarves. They are honestly really fun in vacuum. The only thing I hate about dwarves is their fanbase. Sure, they got no magics basically. But hey, thats fine! The literal turtle race where you watch your enemies burn and get shot to pieces while you do nothing. And they can crank out multiple lategame armies pretty easy once you're through the initial Greentide. The grudge mechanic - although at some points a bit annoying, is really nice for a petty player who keeps his own grudges against the AI. Im such a player.
And Tomb Kings. I honestly half-regret putting them into a lower tier, because they have got the BEST looking monsters in the game. Their early game is shit though. You need to spam skeleton crapstacks, and wait around a LOT of turns, which on higher difficulties mean that AI gets to tier5 while you sit around and do jackshit. But I honestly like the playstyle of turtling, preparing and then striking out with an unstoppable armada. They are the race to do that with. Once you get to constructs, its kinda like mammoth stacks except fun because of variety. Free armies are also dope obviously. TK is a faction I love lorewise, aeesthatically and ingame, they just got this one glaring drawback, which is of course makes them more balanced and thats not a bad thing.
Finally silver tier. I cant honestly rank them, so will just go by alphabet.
Empire. The most basic, easiest and yet one of the most engaging factions - most people surely can agree on this. Mixu mods are a definite MUST for Empire. Elector Counts get to be their own persons, instead of copypaste Captain guy for the lot of them. Apart from mods. They have possibly the largest roster in the game. Sure, their infantry isnt tanky. But they excel at heavy cavalry, gunpowder and magic. Lorewise they are a clear underdog - and if you play Empire, you sometimes feel that way which is nice. Sadly the AI is one of the most overpowered bullshit ever put in a Total War game with the Empire rework. Franz having 80 provinces after that many turns and 20 armies is just unfun to see, or to face. Anyhow, obviously the most thought out race in the setting - understandably. You can do anything, you can go anywhere and you can have the army you want. And thats fun.
Lizardmen love factor is mainly 'dinosaurs riding dinosaurs." Impossible to not love that premise. Armywise - Their melee is awesome. Their ranged/siege is decent at this point. Their magics also, they got the best lores of magic with their slanns. One of their weak points are their Lords - combat wise Mazda and Kroq are 10/10 but the rest... Tehen can be nice at high level, at least. Their heroes can be all put on dinos though, thats a massive good point. And obviously- dinos. The best thing about them. Dinos with orbital strikes, dinos larger than dragons, dinos spitting fire. The more the merrier.
And the one I started with up there somehow ended up last: Vampire Coast. As stated earlier, I find them extremely fun because of mechanics. Apart from that, they also have an underdog feel, because they are basically worse Vampires. Yes, they have ranged and thats the best about them - also their monsters are better than Vcounts. But their corruption spread is crap, and so is their melee. Depth Guard were nerfed to oblivion thanks to pvp. Almost feels a waste to recruit them since. Crabs and freakin ships on legs are obviously the saving grace in their armies. With the possibility to either heal them, or dish out wind of death, or maybe other destructive magics. The main drawing power of Vcoasts is that you can go anywhere - best did with Noctilus obviously - or just sit around and raid. Something Norsca actually cant do despite it should be their stick.
Special mention to Southern Realms, the best race mod out there. SFO also has decent reworks. and finally OvN is an ambitious project, and its nice to see all the tertiary races. Sadly the mods are fairly unstable at this point, so you cant really play them for their mechanics or well-rounded rosters. As a submod - like Chaos Dwarves to Chaos, or Amazons to Lizardmen - its a pretty good thing to shake things up, though.
Anyhow, if anybody read this all through, thank you. Have fun in the game!

My favorite faction is the High Elves because I love dichotomies. I love that a setting so brutal and bleak like Warhammer has these beautiful and graceful warriors in the Asur. Not only do they serve as a dichotomy to the setting as a whole, but also to themselves- they wear hearts and rainbow patterns all over their armor but they are also capable of fucking you up and getting blood soaked at the same time. My love for dichotomies is also why the forces of Slaanesh is my second favorite faction, the dichotomy of lust, love making (or "love making,") beauty, and reproduction contrasts greatly with the death and destruction of war. Third is vampires, because I love the idea of humans being jealous of other races for their longevity and seeking unholy means to attain long life. The honorably mention faction goes to the Dark Elves, having elf knights on raptors is metal as hell. My favorite characters from each faction are Tyrion, Sigvald, Abhorash, and Malekith. White lions are my favorite unit of all time, it was the first time I saw elves in heavy armor using heavy weapons and it opened my eyes to elves that weren't stereotypical light archers. It's a damn shame how underwhelming they are in WH:TW.

So far, I love the undead and the greenskins. The orcs are so different to handle with their infighting forcing you to always be offensive or risk attrition, and the undead always call to me in pretty much every setting so here (Vampire Counts) they were awesome as well. The fact you have no ranged units and have to rush the enemy is also unique, pretty cool experience so far.

My favourite faction is the Lizardmen, 1 because DINOSAURSSSSSS, 2 because I love their playstyle and 3 BIG BOI DINOSAURS (& co), really I like all about them except Lustria (cause I fought there too many times and got burnt out) and the Totally-Not-Africa continent that was essentially decimated in the Mortal Empires map (where I mostly like to play). As for the hardest campaigns to me it's probably the Skaven and Tomb Kings but mostly because I genuinely don't like their playstyles in battles, both have infantry that is pretty bad while I generally prefer infantry lines that I can essentially forget about somewhat and it will still do fine, and I especially don't like the skaven because they flee and come back a lot and I hate having to deal with that while the Tomb Kings' infantry I found to die super quickly. Vampire Pirates would be there if it wasn't for the fact that I actually enjoyed playing them much more. Before Nakai I also like Norsca's campaign because I could confederate quickly and then just go wreck havoc everywhere but after playing Nakai in Mortal Empires, seeing how easily I could decimate those Norscans early on with like less than 20 casualties despite being outnumbered 3 to 1... idk it does look kinda scary.
