    The best advice you can give your startup followers is to purchase only 20 yd containers. You can always have a customer put lest but you cannot drop off smaller and expect to put more in it. As far as your truck evaluation goes startup costs in the beginning you want to keep at a minimum so go with 2500 and if business is good and successful then down the road traded in for the heavier-duty rig.

      The cost for a 250 or 350 is the same when new unless its a diesel. I tell people all the time to start with 20 yard dumpsters. I have mentioned it many times in past videos. paint lines inside for 15yd and 10yd

    I ordered a 2022 f350 xl with the 7.3 godzilla gas engine and 4:30 gears. Pulls like a dream. I also had the option to derate it to 10k GVWR from the factory.

    I started with a 2021 Ram 2500 6.4. with 3.73 rear gear. It has done good in my relatively flat area. She definitely revs out on hills. Pulled 20,000lbs a couple times when a can was overloaded. If you are in a hilly area, I would definitely go diesel.
    Now that I have a Bison trailer, it is a lot more tongue heavy than my Protainer and causes some squat. So I ordered a 2022 Ram 3500 SRW chassis cab 10kGVWR with 6.4 back in April. It is rated to tow 18,000lbs with the 4.10 rear gear. About max I can pull under CDL and with the de-rate I won't need DOT # either.
    Plan to put a hot shot body, trim the bed rails and tuck the hitch mount as close as I can to the rear axle. Hopefully will reduce any squat and shorten the overall footprint by 2.5ft vs my current 2500 Crew Cab. Keeping the 2500 as a backup. 2 Trucks and two trailers for well under a new hook truck, with less/easier maintenance and have that redundancy if one does happen to go down.

    I have had a lot of people ask why I chose my 96 f350 for the business. I always say it was simple I already owned the pickup. No truck payment means lower over head. Pulse the pickup has been in my family since 2000 and I know every service record on it it has 453k miles and is still kicking strong

    I run a 2006 f250 with the 3 valve V10, tow 10-12k lbs 7x12 fully loaded dump trailer often and it does it just fine. The 6.2 makes torque and power a bit higher in the rpm range than may be ideal for heavy towing. The truck itself, frame, ratio options etc are all identical from a 250 to 350.

    Agreed. F250/F350 isn't going to matter. It depends on the gear ratio. Payload on the F350 single axle will always be more than a F250 but it's nothing a set of air bags wouldn't fix. The diesel will always have more pulling power than the gas as far as not struggling. But have you seen the price of diesel lol. I have a brand new set of air bags and a brand new compressor by air lift still in the box if interested. They will fit a 2017-2019 F250/F350 single rear wheel.

    • @Lifes_Apprentice
      @Lifes_Apprentice  2 роки тому

      I don't plan on running the 250 much. If I could get another truck I would. Ford is'nt taking orders until september so we will see what happens. The power difference between 250 and 350 is the biggest difference I see but that could be gearing like you said

    Great video Justin and I can answer some of your questions on 3/4 ton versus one ton Or as you refer to as a F250 versus a F350 single rear wheel " not the dully version". The main difference between the 2 is the rear end Gear ratio. That comes standard in that truck's weight rating classification . You can actually order a 3/4 ton truck with all the specifications of a of a One ton single rear wheel truck And the only difference will will be basically the leaf Spring package But it is cheaper to order a one ton single rear wheel truck because it is a standard build and have it deregulated to the 10000 GVWR. There is some other slight differences but that is the main one.

    • @hhprogressiveconstruction1140

    I think the last truck I bought ( 2020 F350 SRW ) the difference was in carrying capacity….or how much you can put in the bed….presumably because of the leaf springs. Comparing diesel F250 to diesel F350, towing capacity was the same. I think the thing to remember is that if you are pulling heavy trailers, it would be possible to place to much axle weight on the truck. I think that if you were serious about this business, the best truck would be at least a 1 ton dual rear wheel if you can afford it.

    • @chiefhiggins6471

      So the towing capacity on the F250 & F350 is the same, the only difference is the extra weight you can add to the bed? Would I be able to run a F250 with no CDL then, and not have to derate?

    Were you using cruise control? It saves you more fuel when towing to not use it. Also, it's easier on your transmission. I always drive manually with a load. I have the 7.3 F250. What I mean by manual is not the transmission but simply not using the cruise control, my foot controls my rate of acceleration.

    No real difference between F250 vs F350 SRW besides a couple more leaf springs in the rear suspension... The BIG difference is what gear ratio you pick in the options menu thats available on both models... pick a taller gear and it will lug when towing heavy loads but get better highway mpg... shorter gear and its the opposite.
