I love this song, but I think it’s sad that so many young people don’t even realize who they are seeing in the images shown… John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, the crew of the Challenger, Keith Whitley, and many more. Such important, powerful, and talented people who left a lasting impression on our lives.

In this song, Garth makes a statement that it is best not to know how things will end, because if you do then you may deprive yourself of certain experiences: You might miss the pain, but you also might miss the dance. The dance = moments in life.

This song is speaks to loss in the same way that the phrase “better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all” does. But I think in the context of the video, and maybe it’s greater meaning is that people like MLK and JFK…had they known how the roads they chose would end, would still have chosen to continue their life’s work on that road because in the end, it was worth it to them to try to make the world a better place. They laid down their lives to leave the world better than they found it.

As in if Kennedy knew he would have been shot he probably wouldn't have became president but his life is better left to chance because if he didn't become president the things he did wouldn't have happen. Even tho something bad may happen at the end still go or you'll miss all the beautiful things in life...

The Dance says, to me anyway, that the road you've got to take to get where you're going may be a rough one, but once you reach your destination, you realize it was worth it and you'd do it all over again.

My mom passed away when I was 5 so at my wedding I used this song to dance with my aunts and other motherly figures in my life. The lyrics just fit too perfect. Big Garth fan hope you like him.

The Dance always hits hard. "I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance." It's such a simple song, but so, so powerful.

One thing about this song, it's played at a lot of funerals. It was played at my dad's, my fiancé memorial service, my best friend's funeral, a lot of funerals. This is one song that you can't help but love, but it can bring you heartache.

Billy, idk who all is the people were in the music video but the ones I recognized were John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and the crew onboard the Space Shuttle Columbia.

      Just went online to see:
Lane Frost - World Champion Bull rider, who was killed in 1989 by the bull he rode for a full eight seconds during a rodeo.
Keith Whitley - Country singer who died in 1989 from alcohol poisoning. The Whitley scenes featured his then-wife Lorrie Morgan.
Martin Luther King Jr. - Baptist minister who is best known for his involvement in the Civil Rights Movement and was assassinated in 1968.
The crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger, shortly before it disintegrated after its launch in 1986.
John F. Kennedy - President of the United States who was assassinated in 1963.
John Wayne - Film actor best known for his roles in Westerns.

    Undeniably just a perfect song
Edit: Garth Brooks is the goat in country music imo

I love Garth but, he is not the GOAT... George Jones, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Vern Gosdin, John Conlee, I could go on...these gentlemen paved the path for younger talents like Garth. If I had to choose the best from the younger group it would be Alan Jackson...Keith Whitley had he lived.

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared ‘neath the stars above
For a moment, all the world was right
How could I have known that you’d ever say goodbye
    And now, I’m glad I didn’t know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could’ve missed the pain but I’d have had to miss the dance
    Holding you, I held everything
    For a moment, wasn’t I a king
But if I’d only known how the king would fall
Hey now who’s to say, you know I might have changed it all
    And now, I’m glad I didn’t know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could’ve missed the pain but I’d have had to miss the dance
Yes my life, it’s better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I’d have had to miss the dance

That's his original, try "The River" by Garth. Garth is the #1 selling country artist of all time with over 164+ million sales. Garth has 30 gold, 30 platinum, 16 multiplatinum and 7 diamond albums(more than anyone else with diamond) National Treasure if you ask me.

Carrie Underwood's, 'How Great Thou Art' performance at the CMA Women of Country (I think?) is one of the greatest performances ever. Like, ever.
Pretty positive you've already reacted to it but she slays that song.

Billy, I’d love to request “Mr. Red, White, and Blue” by Coffey Anderson. He has offered to go and sing at the funerals of our service members that we just lost. It’s a song about the sacrifices that our military make for us. My husband served 20 years, most of which happened after 9/11. This song is very profound, especially with the events of the last few days. 💔

I love that this song is about life. You meet someone and go through the motions of life with that person. It's the dance of life and one day we won't be around. I wouldn't miss anything for the world and thankful to all who came into my life. Without them in my life I wouldn't be who I am today.
