Shining Force is still a very good game to this day. Shining Force 2 and 3 are awesome too!
If my profile picture doesnt give it away I love shining force and its always fun to see more people experience the series!
Love these retro reviews. Keep it up!
Yep, played through it the first time a few years ago. A true great!
One of my favorites. I was so hyped for this game when it launched!
SF2 is better by far, but SF1 will always be special to me.
Shining Force was such a great game to play up with. I remembering thinking "Fire Emblem, that seems like a terrible rip off of Shining Force".
You have to respect how available Sega makes its games, with multitudes of ways to replay them, but please just make new titles!!!
Yes! I'm glad I've still got several Shining Force games left, though. Finished 2 recently and loved it
love this game, though i prefer the GBA remake. Wish there had been a remake for SF2 as well.
The most impressive aspect of the original Shining Force is that it's probably the oldest SRPG/TRPG I've played that I CAN recommend to people that aren't explicitly retro gamers. Yes it does lack the depth that you would expect in later games, the UI and certain maps are needlessly slow, and the AI is both overly scripted and overly simple. But this is still a fast paced and feature rich game - and fairly well balanced too for different playstyles and team builds. It helps that it's also a surprisingly funny game too.
It still amazes me that there's been little effort to revive the series. Hiroyuki Takahashi may dispute any connection the series has to Fire Emblem, but Fire Emblem rode a new wave of popularity last decade and it would have been a great time to revive this series as well.
Great video! Nice to see more people playing the Shining games.
