Not sure how long your waiting but with those barrels I usually give them 3-5min between shots..None of my Weatherby rifles will group well after cleaning if the barrel hasn’t had 5+ shots to foul it either. A master gunsmith taught me pressing down on the top of the scope helps with that barrel jump..improved my groups allot..Just some ideas
Keep an open mind, I used all the same bullets with my 300 WBY and experienced the same results. I then loaded some spire point flat based interlock bullets with Reloaded 22 running about 3200 fps. First three shots at the range almost through the same hole .30 sub MOA. All the frustration and finally these bullets shot lights out. Now, I just experienced the hunt of a lifetime, shot a massive buck and a doe at over three hundred yards with these same bullets. One shot drops impressive pass throughs and expansion. I know I know I am an idiot that does not know I am using a useless cup and core bullet. Wow were these impressive results none of the bullets you used above would have worked any better. I did know you would find something to work in that model 70. Regards Note my guns work with clean barrels.
Looks like you get some exercise in today as well. Good job you will figure it out. I got a 6.5 Grendle. It took me a 150 shots to figure out what it liked.
Getting ready to sling 110 Accubonds, 117 SST's, and 117 Core-Lockts this weekend. I have the AccuBonds loaded up with max charge RL22 and a slightly backed off charge of Magpro in the SST and Core-lokt. I may take both my 257's out and compare the M307 to the Sporter.
@@ReloadingWeatherbyI used max book charge of RL-22 and was able to get about a .65" inch group. Due to scarcity of RL-22, 7828 and H1000 in my area I am going to start experimenting with powders of similar burn rates like Magpro and LRT, as these powders are available at just about every store here. I have made up my first set of test cartridges ranging from 64 gr to 71.5 gr in half grain increments of Magpro and will try them this weekend.
This is my first time watching any of your videos. Have you tried finding the velocity node to get the best possible SD and EP? Then figure out how far out you want to seat your bullet load 4 rounds at that distance and then set back in .003 inch with the next 4 and then another 4 .003 back from that one and maybe try another 4 at another .003 from the previous. You should find a good group then that is you seating node. I own two Weatherby Mark V one 300 and one 243 and I know you can not reach the lands so I picked a distance that loads well into my mag well and feeds good and went from there. I have some work to do on my 300 this spring but my 243 is putting at and under a 3" group at 400 yards.
First of all thanks for shooting 3 shot groups , you do not ( need ) to shoot 5 shot groups for a hunting rifle! How often do you shoot 5 shots at a deer or Elk ? For the 300 Wby with the 190 I would try 7828 with ( 84.5 ) being MAX ( start lower and work up ) the Max load should give you about 3150 fps . I have had very good accuracy with my WBYs and 7828 ! Good velocity and good accuracy ! Thanks for all your hard work for us !…….
Have you tried ram shot magnum powder? I use it in my 7mm rem mag with Ablr 175 same hole groups at 3000fps. And also in my 300 wby with federal edge tlr 200gr 1/2” groups 3000fps both guns have below 10 sd
You'd get tighter groups shooting off a Lead Sled. You're still getting a lot of human error shooting off of bags, so your groups are pretty good given your method.
Be careful doing lots of shooting with a lead sled, and never ever put weights in it. It will destroy your scopes. The energy from the recoil has to go somewhere, its basic physics. If it cant go into your shoulder and body by the gun moving, the scope takes all that recoil. There are many many threads about it. I use my lead sled to sight in just to make sure no human error effects it, and then do the rest of my shooting without it.
How much jump do you have on that accubond lr bullets? I know all rifles are different but in general, I’ve found the best accuracy at close to .030 off the lands with high bc boat tail bullets.
@@ReloadingWeatherby That’s not true. If you have a long enough bullet, you can load closer to the lands even in a weatherby caliber. It just takes a long enough bullet.
@@ReloadingWeatherby I understand that weatherby calibers have a long free bore. However, I never worry about whether the rounds will fit in the magazine or not. I load for accuracy first and then if the rounds are too long to fit in the magazine, I single feed. I have a couple hunting rifles that are loaded longer than the magazine, but I can still get one round in the chamber and one in the magazine. Then I attach more rounds to the stock to single feed if I need them. For my target rifles, I always single feed the rounds anyways. I know the free bore in some weatherby’s is too long to get close to the lands with shorter bullets, but if the bullets are short than we’re not generally loading them for their high b.c. values and down range performance anyway.
@matrix5175 I've yet to find a 30 caliber bullet that is long enough that I could load it close to the lands. I've tried 225 ELD-M and those weren't even long enough. The rifle has loved the 175LRX and it really liked a match bullet from Nosler. 168 gr CC. Otherwise all the other bullets I've tried are good for 3/4 inch accuracy
I'm betting you'll get a good 300 load with that bullet if you keep at it, and im sure you will. I'd say that 257 accubond load is way over pressure, but it does prove the gun likes accubonds. Actually I've loaded accubonds in a lot of calibers for myself and many others, and it almost always gets sub moa without much effort.

The boring stuff is usually most important. But, I'll continue to play with different bullets trying for tiny groups and it appears you're no different.
I am now in the habit of watching your stuff. How about a side by side comparison , the .257 Weatherby and the .270 wcf. Don't hold back with the .270. Let's see speed, trajectories and muzzle energy comparisons. Same barrel lengths, throw in wind deflection numbers. Normal hunting ranges Cheers
