The idea of an immortal wedding a mortal and losing their immortal status surely seems like a direct link to Lord of the Rings in the story of Aragorn and Arwen and the story of Barron and Luthien.
What if the others are actually the children of the bloodstone emperor? Maybe after defeating the children of the bloodstone emperor in Essos they chased them all the way to Essos. I mean it's not too far fetched. It really would be a song of ice and fire. Also I'm pretty sure the reason a lot of noble families have ancients Valyrian steel swords is because they were some of the leading heroes during the Long Night and were gifted Valyrian Steel swords to help fight off the children of the bloodstone emperor.
I know it's probably too late for you guys to even see this, buy I had a thought: What if Garth Greenhand was the Son of the Lion of Night, and the Maiden Made of Light First off, if both his parents were gods, that would make him a full on god, not a demigod like Garth's children. Secondly, think about all the Wives (and by extension children) the God on Earth had. Thirdly, the God on Earth was a perfect ruler, and being a good ruler includes caring about your people. If we accept that the First Men were citizens of the Great Empire of the Dawn (persecuted by the Bloodstone Emperor, maybe), than Garth, inspired by his compassion, would help his people, leading them to a new land. Fourthly, the stories say that Garth was first in Westeros thousands of years before the First Men arrived Just my crazy thoughts
Wow! This made my morning! GRRM when asked if there were gods involved in the end said something like "not anymore than there are already in the story" which makes me think we might be missing that some of the characters are gods, godlike, or have god blessings/curses! You guys rock indeed!
I am sorry, I am not sure what part of my comment you felt was "dumb." I would never insult your opinion, I would appreciate you being respectful of mine. Thanks!
Michael Bell honestly I think if there are ice wights (Other’s undead followers) and Fire wights like Lady Stoneheart and Beric. I think Patchface is a Sea Wight. Like he did die and was dead for days when he does speak it’s like he talks about the Drowned Gods halls. I think he is what the Ironborn are aiming for but they don’t quite get there.
Landed here by chance and since then have been binge watching all the videos from the channel. Hahaha.. The amount of effort you guys put into scrutinizing the whole story is unreal. You've got yourselves another fan/subscriber.
I think this is officially the earliest I've ever gotten here, lol, I am seriously LOVING these dark power are waking videos, so many good videos you guys, I can't even say I have a clear favorite anymore!!
Hey Greenhands👋! I have a question. As we know, the old powers are waking. We can see this through the Stark children's warging & skin changing abilities, which you've illustrated come from godly ancestors. My question is: At what point did these powers awaken in House Stark? If only 1 man in 1,000 is born a skin changer, and all 6 Stark children are skin changers, I find it hard to believe that no other Stark in the generations immediately preceding Ned's children had the gift. Second question: Do you guys think Lyanna Stark might've been a skin changer? With her being called a centaur, and referred to as being "half a horse", it makes me wonder... If she was bonded to one particular horse the way Bran is to Summer, it could explain her skill at jousting, which we know the key to is being a skilled rider. Not saying she skin changed while jousting; just that the skin changing might give her a special trust with the horse that other riders wouldn't have, and she could draw on that while riding. I also wonder about Brandon (Ned's brother), as he was also a noted passionate horse rider. But there's just not enough accounts of him in the books to know.
I've got an addition to your question, what about all the other descendants of Garth the Greenhand, are some of them going to start seeing dormant abilities become active again?
Not necessarily all of them, probably just the direct descendants from female lines that are still alive. If it is just house Stark, what makes them so special? Did they do something to that reignites their abilities or is it random?
The Stark's most likely have a higher chance of being skinchangers/green seers because they wed the Marsh King's daughters(who I suspect have the ability since they've been breeding with the children for awhile) and took Children of the forest as wives when they defeated the warg king. So they've got a slightly higher rate of the genes(I guess you'd call it that) that would carry the magical abilities. And they've got wildling blood in them as well.
Beyond what the poster above me has mentioned, the Starks also simply had a much lower rate of marriage into andal houses, so there is more "pure" blood, or the God-blood of Garth in their veins, essentially giving them a higher percentage chance of the magics carried in this blood manifesting
The Last Hero volunteered to turn into the Night King so that he could control the wights. You can't kill evil, at best you can control it... for a time.
15:30 "Brandon or his son, another Brandon." Seems likely that as the child of a god, he lived an unnaturally long life. Considering castles can take 20+ years to build. and he is said to build several, he likely did as well. Thus a "Brandon" was probably mentioned over so many years, that historians assumed it was more than one person. Also the children of gods marrying mortals and giving up their immortality, is used in Tolkien. And the unnatural long life of these dependents, that eventually blends to near average as they interbreed with more mortals, does as well. I would guess, that's an older trope, but I don't know any more examples.
I just found and subbed to this channel today. I'm elated because the quality and theories are awesome! However, I just know I'll stay up waaayy too late watching them!
I still don't understand why Rose of Red Lake is called Rose if her powers are skinchanging into a crane. Wouldn't it make more sense to have her grow plants like her name or something.
I'm still betting that "Lightbringer" is "Dawn" or its kin. That sword was around for a seriously long time, is older than the Valyrian Freehold, and is referred to having the same properties as Valyrian steel. I assume that it could also stand up to the weapons of the Others.
I believe all of the videos you two put out are evidence of what the kids would call "relationship goals" if I'm not mistaken. In all honesty though, thank you guys for the dedication and time you clearly put into these videos, and really GRRM should be thanking you and others like you as well, because, for me at least, and I'm sure I'm not alone, these videos are really what has kept me very interested in the world of ice and fire and the stories, because without such videos, even as good as the books are, with the time that had passed they might have slipped from my mind. However because of these videos I have remained interested, and just as importantly still up-to-date with the story and recalling the details which I would doubtless have forgotten otherwise by the time WoW arrives, since you're damn theories have had me backtracking all over the books once more haha. Again, I just wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you and applaud the both of you for the work you do!
loved the video! excited to see the official video since we have delved into some of these things together a little bit. Really interested to hear how you think Ice became Lady Forlorn. It is definitely the oldest family sword in Westeros. I am personally torn because GRRM did not want Lady Forlorn to be referred to as "valyrian" steel in AWOIAF which means it either isn't valyrian steel in canon or it means that he did not want it revealed that it was a valyrian steel sword because there is a twist to the origin of the sword that he wants to address personally in the series in his own time. It's hard for me to believe that is an ordinary sword though because if it was than it would have probably been shattered during the battle of the red grass field when it clashed with the Blackfyre sword for an entire hour (a ridiculously long time for a sword fight) before Daemon Blackfyre finally gained the upper hand and won the duel. I'm sure that you might not want to respond to all this because you're saving info for your next video. Can't wait!
After seeing the pages in Sam's book in episode 1 this season, I think Bran used Dragon glass to build Storm's End, the Wall, and other buildings. On the page, it said that the Valyrian's used Dragon fire to melt Dragon glass and make sculptures and buildings with it. I believe it said these buildings were "seamless". Like Storm's End is described here. Which leads me to suspect that Rhaegar's harp was made with Dragon glass. And probably Valyrian steel as well...
Very good video! I really do like the way you pick up on the little details in World of Ice and fire that are completely missable. One thing I would really contest is the notion that the citadel supports the Faith of the Seven. The World of Ice and Fire is packed full of references where Yandel - and by extension the citadel - picks apart the mythos the Faith of the Seven passed down to the Westerosi people. It's also worth noting that the Faith of the Seven became *less* filled with Divine Action and Mythic Consequences (like we see in Brandon's tale) only once it reached Westeros - once in Westeros it changed from a mythos where seven gods walked among the the Hills of Andalos, and the native Andals, annointing Hugor as King, to the fairly sterile body it is now. The Citadel was founded not by Andals, but by the First Men, of House Hightower. The novels and other lore also extend on this theme. The Faith is also a competing source of learning and knowledge (Barth was educated by them) and the Citadel loathe competition. The citadel definitely *do not* support the line of the faith, if anything, they are an entirely irreligious, anti-faith order.
true. there is a backstory about the Andals and the Faith that we are waiting to discuss, but I do think some of their "stances" are to appease them because for whatever reason they hold sway in Oldtown and at the Citadel.
Would your channel be able to make a video detailing the history of some of the most important Valyrian steel swords and those who wielded them? Popular candidates would be Ice, Dark Sister, Brightroar, Blackfyre and Longclaw. These swords may become important in the fighting against the Others, so it would be great to know more about them and where they are currently.
Gods and and their half human offspring , like the titan stories of antiquity. The Book of Enoch discusses such in concert with Genesis 6 and the Watchers.
so I've been sorting out the garden all day whilst listening to your recommended viewing order playlists and I just stumbled on this beauty... thanks so much for making a v tired and slightly sweaty girl happy!!!
In game of thrones when nan is talking with bran; "I could tell you the story about Brandon the builder...thst was always your favorite" bran briefly thinks about Brandon, but the story nan tells him is about the last hero. If everything nan says is truth, did she confirm here that Brandon the builder and the last hero are the same person?
Cronoo might be. Old Nan knows important things. She might also draw the differences between Azor Ahai and The Last Hero. Since Brandon the Builder is the son of Brandon the Bloody Blade that means he continue to fight against the Others after his father's death earning the respect of Northerners to rule over them. Brandon the Bloody Blade was a bastard after all.
I also do not think parts of the Crypts of Winterfel could be collapsed, but blocked off on purpose for some reason, because they were built by Bran the Builder.
I want to point out that I was visiting university of Arizona and it was mentioned during a garden tour that they have genetically engineered a blue rose... Also. if blue roses only grow in Winterfell, Where did Rhaegar get a crown of them for Lyanna? Presumably they were provided by the tournament host, who could have them shipped. But that would support the case that Rhaegar specifically ordered them, since he set up the tourney. So did he know he was crowning Lyanna before the tourney started? My understanding was that they had met there for the first time? But Rumor has it that he cheated to win, so why was WINNING so important? What was the prophecy?
it seems like there would be a lot of rare and costly things for sale at an event such as Harrenhal...Rhaegar might have bought them...or the crown of blue roses was the crown for the queen of love and beauty...it would make sense for an event like that to have their flower crown made of the most rare and costly flowers in the realm
One point I like to make is that a POV character has only encountered the Others twice: First in the prologue of GoT, then Sam's encounter in ASoS. That's it. They are talked about, and the wights are certainly present often, but the Others themselves are not featured directly more than twice.
You two are too smart...this connects some major dots; I'm re-re-reading "the coffee-table book" and will be paying more attention this time through. I didn't think there would be much there beyond some great art and filler text, but I appear to be wrong again :)
when we first read TWOIAF, we didn't understand how to break it down and struggled with it for a while until we realized we needed to view it as written with the Citadel's bias...when we did the Tywin videos was when it really cleared up for me...when I realized the whole thing was written from Pycelle's accounts of the time, and that the other information in it is similarly biased based on politics of the time in which it was written...then it started to make sense to me
When reading it through the lens of a maester who just wants to "stay in the garden" and not push any political buttons, it is VERY revelatory. Interesting that there's no little to no info on Qarth, and little about Asshai. Both places are mentioned numerous times in the main series. I think one purpose of the book may be to establish places and lore if George wants to go there in the future, but I can also appreciate it for what it is - a collection of places, people, and history that we will never know about. Unfortunately, George can only write so much. We've had sample chapters of WoW out since 2012. Just saying....
May I also say that the juxtaposition of Garth's descendants over their house sigils at ~39 seconds in is incredible. Tried to do it justice = imgur.com/a/vIdkA
Great stuff! Caught 7-8 vids in last 3-4 days. Very original and cohesive. I agree with you about the children, Catelyn, Jon (Ned and Ashara), Dawn. and Littlefinge. Your stuff on Bloodraven being tricked is great as well as your theory on the faceless men. I love your theories about the weirwoods. I just don't think there is an overarching god structure and there is no magic except corpse animation, telepathy and glamour. These are things that are in the 1000 worlds and I think we are going to find out that this is one of those worlds. GREAT STUFF!!!!!!!! KEEP IT UP
i know this is 5 years late, but if you still think that’s the only magic, check out Aerons chapter in the winds of winter, there is definitely more crazy magic on the way, plus precognition is very common.
The Order of the Green Hand I would suggest you guys start writing a novel of your own & you can meet him at Writer's Conventions. You certainly have the talent, hardworking nature, good analytical skills, open mind, you can do it.
Brandon of the Bloody Blade reminds me of Ares, son of Zeus. And Rose reminds me of Aphrodite. Those two had Eros (Cupid) and others. And in another of your videos, Garth GH reminds me of Zeus, needing to be with everything.
Just wanted to point this out. What if Garth's male children's magic wasn't what most people would consider magic. But was more subtle magic. Like Skinchanging is obvious and can be demonstrated but what if Garth's sons inherited magic that say increased their speed, their strength, or their toughness. Not as easily shown but in my opinion just as important and powerful. After all Brandon of the Bloody Blade literally fought enough of the Children to turn a lake red with blood. If that doesn't take super human strength speed and endurance I'm not sure what does.
I really wanted more Brandon the builder stuff, he's my favourite legendary character. great video, can you guys do a video about more characters like brand the builder or a theory on where Rickon Stark is?
I agree with Princess PZE Rigney. I love your videos too and binge watched them, now. They are so insightful and intriguing. Keep up the good work! A question: As for the crown/garland consisting of blue winter roses. How could Rhaegar afford/get so much of these roses as you said at 7:22 that the only grow in the glass gardens Winterfell. Or that he would make a garland of them - that takes time. Maybe it indicates that Rhaegar and Lyanna know each other prior (even before the Tourney?). The Knight of the Laughing Tree indicate that as much, that they at least get to know each other at the Tourney. I highly doubt the Starks exceptionally for Lyanna would bring so much winter roses to the tourney in the south.
It seems extremely important that Bran designed his first Castle as a child, and that in doing so, demonstrated understanding that surpassed the capabilities of experienced adult architects and engineers. While it is possible that his lineage made him a naturally gifted engineer, that seems like a thin justification since we have no other examples in Thrones where parentage results in seemingly supernatural technical understanding or know-how. Thrones does, however, possess an example of a child named Bran being fed knowledge and instructions magically from a far. It seems safe to assume that Bran the Builder began receiving instruction around the time of the design of his first holdfast.
As for the blue roses, it's a fantasy world. I've always just accepted that they actually exist there. Looking over little details like this... makes me feel like some of my previous read-throughs have been wasted time.
I always have high expectations for you guys but this time you killed it, I'm more than happy and satisfied with this one! that been said, I loved the way it ties all togather but is there any more content on the pre-Valyrian history in westeros? cause I believe that should have a video on its own! I'm glad to hear that you're sticking with a schedule on when the videos will drop.
Honestly that’s exactly what I want. I rather watch a show about Garth’s descendants and the Age of Hero’s than whatever they are trying. They are told almost like fairy tales so thy could be inventive with personalities and conflicts as long as they stuck to the major points we know.
This series of videos rocks! I may be having a brain lapse, and you've already covered this. But, how did Rhaegar get blue roses to crown Lyanna with? The roses that only grow in the Winterfell greenhouses. "I broke into your home and found a present for you!"
i do believe this is the first video I've had to re-watch. .at this time I've seen it only once. I've never had to re-watch any body's video before. is there another word for the prequel of a prequel, prequel. the bleeping of bran the builder,....lady forlorn being Ice. I've been through 5 reads and i am sitting here wondering where have i been. world book, the two stories a rogue prince, black vs greens, dunk and egg etc....I came to these books as a refuge from conspiracy theories. Here i am again. just when i thought you pull me back in. the order of the Green Hand!!!!!
thank you Moos...it never could have happened without people like you who have been here with us since we had practically none...we couldn't have had much more than 1000 if we even had that when you first popped up in our comment section if I remember correctly
Hhe yeah I've been around for a while, at first I couldn't believe you guys had so few subs compared to the quality of your vids. People were probably a bit overwhelmed by the many channels reviewing the show and books. But you guys and Preston are the best in my opinion, hopefully you get many more subs and hopefully your channel will explode when the new season and BOOK comes out.
Moos...we can't even believe we have 20k, but now that we're at this point, we are very anxious to get our hands on TWOW, because if we're even a third as right as we think we might be, we think we may have a chance to grow exponentially...we're both completely social media inept (I still don't have a Facebook picture and the college I went to was like the 5th school on earth to get it) which probably doesn't help us, but we've had fairly steady growth since January...our videos are also virtually the polar opposite of conventional wisdom, which seems to offend a lot of people from what I've seen on forums and message boards...that and the fact that we debate people in our comment section
There was some serious research gone into this one, respect guys. Interesting, you mentioned George's World, I have always thought Planetos to be representative of Earth in terms of important geographical locations. Get a map of westeros and essos, superimpose it on a world map of Earth, align it so that the North encompasses the British isles, with Dorne stretching down to the top half of Algeria. Ashai lies around India or possibly even as far as China, not sure on the scale there. Egypt is right around where slavers bay is located. I havent done the math but I'm pretty sure it lines up close. So imagine maybe an alternate timeline with very different sea levels, as we had as recently as 10000 BC. 400ft difference to be specific. Im rambling, but this stuff fascinates me. Sothoros would be representative of Africa, just not in the same spot, jungles etc. Ulthos could be Australia. Then what's west if westeros? The New world. Which is actually the old world, if you take it on a longer timescale. Same as with us and the stuff we're discovering about the peopling of the Americas.
8:10 1. She was lady of the blue lake, yes? Why can't the field of blue be for the lake? The term "field" when describing the house sigils just means a solid color, basically. 2. They're birds flying in formation, yes? Why can't the field of blue be the sky? 3. We see flowers present on other sigils, yes? Why would this sigil choose to represent their flowers via a solid field of color?
you guys goin to Con of Thrones next year? I missed it this year but I am definitely planning to check it out in '18, yous guys should be on some panels!!
And just one thing, you have by this time developed so meny theories, that poor Goerge would need four decadedes of life - not just the last the books of ASOIAF, but another like Dunk and Egg sequels, just to prove all those theories right. I dont know any more. But you are wise and fun to listen to, no mistake abouth that. I especially like how you connect his possibilities with the worlds lores and legends and facts... There, so you do not say that I only scold you guys. Because you - in one word - ROCK!
I'm new to this channel and I'm amazed. All the work you put into these videos is amazing. You're doing quite a great job. This is your second video I've watched. I was just about to choose between a 'The Walking dead' episode or this. Guess what I've chosen😂. You're even worth of me making few other channels and subscribing, I swear.
+The Order of the Green Hand I am sorry to say it my noble friends, but you missed some of the important symbology of roses, in ancient Rome roses could be used as a symbol for secrecy, for instance, meeting held sub-rosa were understood to be confidential, and therefore it was very socially unacceptable to break the taboo, as it was considered to be an insult to Aphrodite, upon whom you are being sworn to secrecy by agreeing to attend meetings, or discuss things under the sign of the rose(Which was generally an actual rose hung in the center of the room.).
I know I had the info about the rose being used for confidentiality, but we had to edit the script down otherwise we'd never get to bran the builder. maybe we will include it in the next video.
Now you got me hooked with the book series..... I keep coming back and nothing new is showing up...hoping a new one goes up soon....or since its been two weeks, two more go up?? ;)
We've been working on it on the side while we attempted to review the whole of season 6 in like 13 days, but it's script is ready for editing and we're going to start recording it tonight
glad to hear, thanks for the update! Not a huge fan of watching recaps from/about the show (any recaps) Just means I will be extra excited when the next book video comes out.
I really enjoyed this and it has given me an idea. what if the recipe for Valyrian steel has been staring Us in the face this whole time. through the story of the forging of light bringer
Good point ser! Since Qohor smiths can still produce Valyrian steel and they are known for their worship of the Black Goat and blood sacrifices, I've long figured there was a connection.
thank you so much...we're on a show full court press right now trying to get ready for season 7, but will be back to making weekly book theory vids, starting the Wednesday following the premiere
If I'm not mistaken. the drowned g-ds antithesis is the storm g-d. And the storm lands once held the belief in similar deities. are iron islanders somehow related to storm landers? it's obvious that there's some kind of connecting between their deities
I've never read the books. It seems that the original 'trek' beyond the wall (your reference) is reminiscent of Jon Snow's trek beyond the wall to get a Wight as proof for Cersi. Does the 'Sword Made of Light' have anything (symbolistically at least) to do with the 'Maiden Made of Light"? One other thing... GRRM stated that 'The War of Roses' was the historical inspiration of his books, the roses were Red & Green, are you suggesting he substituted the Green Rose for the 'Blue' one your speaking of?
I think you guys are great. Not to be mean or ignorant to Talking Thrones, but you guys are on a different level. You guys read between the lines and go outside the "fan fair" and happy sunshine rainbow theories and all
Yes indeed :-). My aim is to be a knight of the Order of the Green Hand. They were killed off at the field of fire by Aegon and his sisters, but desire to ensure the rebirth. Long live the Order!
The Order of the Green Hand, Now then! Next stop 50k! I was very excited to hear that you're planning a confab with Dan from talking thrones. When will this occur? I love this type of thing when everyone is knowledgeable! The hosts couldn't be better! Dan has great input about the show, ( he has read the books also) and both of you bring deep insight from the books. Some people still fail to realize that as George has stated, they are two separate stand alone stories therefore we have to discuss book and show versions of events. Coldhands Benjen is a perfect example. It's a win, win for the audience, can't wait ! Love QOT.🌹 🌹 👏 👏 😀
that would be something...when we started doing this, we mostly wanted to do it because we thought we had a few ideas that we hadn't seen anywhere else, and for the most part we just wanted to be able to prove that we "called it" but we never imagined people would care what we thought...it seemed like for months, we had one fan, and we almost stopped doing it, but then George answered our question about the Order of the Green Hand, and we got a little wind in our sails and that night we decided to at least make all the videos up through the KG being alive before we quit if we still had no one watching, and as if it was on cue, like the day after George answered us, people started watching our channel...the talking thrones thing should be coming out next week some time...he asked us and a few other channels to participate and asked that we get him the audio by Sunday so he can put it all together into a finished product and get it out a few days before the show airs
The Order of the Green Hand , I had participated in westeros org for a long time, then one day watched a GOT video here on youtube. The content was very lacking in insight and seemed virtually unrelated to anything I had read. Latter, I found a few small channels and began sharing thoughts and theories with them. When I first found your work it was a wonderful validation that someone else interpreted the depth of the books in the same manner as I did. I began to share your videos across the larger sites that were often missing important details of the story. I agree with 99% of your interpretations, and really enjoy your work immensely! It truly brightens my day! Request your input on the following. Did you notice that Benjen gave Bran rabbit blood instead of cooked meat? Why blood? is it just a hat tip to "jojen paste" from the books? Why raw blood, is his magic a form of blood magic? ?I believe that LF is a powerful skinchanger of primarily cats while in KL, and possibly birds such as the gyrfalcon he gave to Robyn Arryn. LF has remarked that his great grandfather was from bravos, (possible faceless men association). I've been wondering what his fascination with the crane, and whent bloodlines and Harrenhall is about. What could he be trying to achieve here. Thanks, love QOT.🌹
we really have no idea what Benjen Coldhands was doing...he seems to be up to no good in the show...that last look he gave Bran before riding off was almost as bizarre as not bringing him all the way to the wall was...as to the rest, contact us privately because that's stuff we're going to be putting into our next LF vid, which if we don't die this week trying to make 6 videos and our part in Talking Thrones' video, should be out in a few weeks
I wish I could just sit around reading things into a mic all day for a living, but unfortunately that is not the case...neither of us had ever done anything like this before we decided to make a few videos last fall
The Order of the Green Hand to keep it away from the north maybe? Humor me for a minute, but what if dawn was wielded by an ancient stark who committed terrible acts with it? Like what if the knight's king used it with his sorcery so the starks gave it to the daynes to get it as far away from the north as possible? Dawn's own symolism seems to coincide with the others and the wall (pale, milkglass, alive with light etc) which leads me to believe dawn has to do with ice as valyrian swords have to do with fire. When ned's "ice" is described, it is dark and red, the exact opposite of what one would think of when imagining a sword called ice.
it seems to me that the founder of House Dayne's legend wouldn't include how he forged Dawn if a Stark really did it and then gave it to them...Dawn resembles the pale flame swords in Dany's dream about what appeared to be the Gemstone Emperors a lot more, except it is solid pale flame...unless he is trying to claim that the Daynes and the Starks are actually the same family, which I have a hard time seeing cause the Daynes have a semi-valyrian look and I've never seen an example of a Stark that looked like that, I can't imagine a circumstance where the Starks would give their sword to someone else willingly...and Ned's sword isn't red...it's dark grey...Arya thinks the comet reminds her of her father's sword but that doesn't mean Ned's sword is red
The idea of an immortal wedding a mortal and losing their immortal status surely seems like a direct link to Lord of the Rings in the story of Aragorn and Arwen and the story of Barron and Luthien.
it does seem like he may have borrowed that idea
It's also somewhat biblical.
it seems that only female gods become mortal by sleeping with mortals. not fair.

Bran the builder can he fix it, yes he CAN!!
Hi Chad! :)
The Order of the Green Hand Hello 😄
You ready for Season 7!???
The Order of the Green Hand
Does the High Septon pray? Haha but no really I'm ecstatic bros, just finished the video awesome content once again
cringe, ♥ u Chad
I know it's probably too late for you guys to even see this, buy I had a thought:
What if Garth Greenhand was the Son of the Lion of Night, and the Maiden Made of Light
First off, if both his parents were gods, that would make him a full on god, not a demigod like Garth's children.
Fourthly, the stories say that Garth was first in Westeros thousands of years before the First Men arrived
Just my crazy thoughts
Garth sounds like a dude in the bible that lead the Jewish to freedom.

@Lucca Dustin thanks, signed up and it seems to work =) Appreciate it!!

Wow! This made my morning! GRRM when asked if there were gods involved in the end said something like "not anymore than there are already in the story" which makes me think we might be missing that some of the characters are gods, godlike, or have god blessings/curses! You guys rock indeed!
Thank you and that's exactly what we think too!!
Patchface... Something's definitely "off" about that guy. Wouldn't surprise me if he's what you're talking about here.
I am sorry, I am not sure what part of my comment you felt was "dumb." I would never insult your opinion, I would appreciate you being respectful of mine. Thanks!
Thank you :) I appreciate a good healthy debate!
Garth also appears as the ghost of Christmas Present in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol
hahahahhaha he does look like him.
@@TheOrderoftheGreenhand I think he's also supposed to be a nod to Tom Bombadil
Your channel has become my absolute favorite with respect to A Song of Ice and Fire lore and data. Thank you for the quality content.
Landed here by chance and since then have been binge watching all the videos from the channel. Hahaha..
The amount of effort you guys put into scrutinizing the whole story is unreal.
You've got yourselves another fan/subscriber.
Thank you so much, and welcome to the Wolf's Den!
I think this is officially the earliest I've ever gotten here, lol, I am seriously LOVING these dark power are waking videos, so many good videos you guys, I can't even say I have a clear favorite anymore!!
Yay! Glad you like them Pamela! You have been with us for a long time! :D
Much of the Reach no longer believe in the old gods but the Seven
The Last Hero volunteered to turn into the Night King so that he could control the wights. You can't kill evil, at best you can control it... for a time.
was just about to close youtube when..... "greeenn hand... new greenhand episode!!!!!! yaaaaaaaasssssss!!!!" *taps* :D
+Lauren's Corner hey Lauren! So glad! I hope you enjoy! :D
The Order of the Green Hand i really did but its too short :p lol
Thank you...don't lose sleep on our account...our videos will still be there tomorrow
Sooo, Lady Forlorn was wielded by the Last Hero aka Bran the Builder during the Battle for Dawn but it was then called Ice?
Must know more!!
I don’t even know what to call these videos, they’re so perfect and clear! ✨🙌🏼🌺
Thank you...we put a lot of time and effort into our videos and it's always a big pick me up when comments like that come in
I still don't understand why Rose of Red Lake is called Rose if her powers are skinchanging into a crane.
Just realized I left my car running this whole time.. Awesome vid I'm really enjoying this series
Hahaha oh no! Glad you enjoyed it though! :D
"That is going to have to wait until next time." ME - NOOOOOOOOOOO
You guys are amazing. You've really come so far in such a short time it's incredible. I can't wait for the next one!
Thanks so much Jim !
Jim Young absolutely yes
Congruence... I love it how you guys can do all of this and still succeed at keeping a safe distance to the tinfoil dimension. Nice work guys ;)
Thank you James!
Again, I just wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you and applaud the both of you for the work you do!
thank you so much...we really appreciate it
loved the video! excited to see the official video since we have delved into some of these things together a little bit.
The Order of the Green Hand are we sure it isn't the other way around, and that mysticism was drained from the faith to appease the citadel?
Would your channel be able to make a video detailing the history of some of the most important Valyrian steel swords and those who wielded them? Popular candidates would be Ice, Dark Sister, Brightroar, Blackfyre and Longclaw. These swords may become important in the fighting against the Others, so it would be great to know more about them and where they are currently.
Your thumbnail Bran looks a lot like Johnathan Rhys Meyers. Lol
Wow. Listening to you all is like having a "Great Courses" streaming on my phone 😊 Thank you for such an intelligent discussion!!
Our pleasure !
Glad you enjoyed! Have a good rest of the day!
This is an amazing series - keep it up
I also do not think parts of the Crypts of Winterfel could be collapsed, but blocked off on purpose for some reason, because they were built by Bran the Builder.
OMG you guys have blown me away again as you guys are the King and Queen of all realms that are out there as you have NEVER LET ME DOWN
thank you so much
I want to point out that I was visiting university of Arizona and it was mentioned during a garden tour that they have genetically engineered a blue rose...
Also. if blue roses only grow in Winterfell, Where did Rhaegar get a crown of them for Lyanna?
Ahh yes, just got home from work and saw the notification....chilling time with The Order of the Greenhand vid! Thank you for uploading!
Thanks for watching Joy!! :D
I love your videos. I listen to them like audiobooks while doing my chores. keep it coming - you guys are awesome!
thank you so much
Y’all are going way out there, and I’m here for it. Really though it’s mostly pretty well grounded with leaks here and there
Don't forget whenever ROSE appears in his works, GRRM is a fellow Deadhead. Roses [like Direwolves] are very big in our iconography.
Glad to see another quality addition to this series. Always great to see new videos from you guys.
+Chandler L. Walker thanks Chandler!
This series of videos is pure gold. Thank you all!
thank you
what an amazing Thursday treat!! thanks guys!!
Thanks for watching Tracy1 Have a good day!
You guys are like student writers of GRRM.... explaining everything here.... kudos 👌
thank you so much...I wish we could meet George
The Order of the Green Hand This world is full or magic & miracles....who knows, if you want something with all your heart, it WILL happen.
Garth reminds me of the Dagda of Irish Mythology a lot more than Zeus.
It would be rather funny if all white walkers with night king are Last Hero's companions who were Garth's children XD
Another brilliant breakdown. I get ridiculously excited when one of your new videos comes out. ♥
Rickon is in Skagos with Osha
Blue Roses reminds me of the blue roses Lyanna Stark were given by Rhaegar at the Tourney. I love your videos their the best
Thank you so much
I agree with Princess PZE Rigney.
Absolutely amazing content and research!
thank you
The Order of the Green Hand your analytics are so on point! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for a video that gave me so much food for thought. Lady Rose of Red Lake is just the sort of character one would like to know more about.
really like what you're doing, dont stop posting pls
we wont
Finally! I love your videos sooo much. Much clarity, much wow.
Ah, so we have a similar theory about Valyrians and First Men... though yours is deeper and more thorough. I like it
Love your channel! Glad your back to releasing these videos 🤗!
Thank you !🙂
had to grab a sub, you guys are a great narrating team!
Thank you
Yet again, thanks for the video guys!! U are the reason I survived the gap between the GoT Seasons! Keep em coming pls!!
You're welcome! More coming soon.
Now THIS was worth the wait! All I can say is BRAVO and well done! I can't wait for next week's installment! Keep up the fantastic job! :-)
Thank you!!
What I would really like to know is, who is singing The Song of Ice and Fire?
Y'all go crazy deep. Please never stop.
As for the blue roses, it's a fantasy world. I've always just accepted that they actually exist there.
Looking over little details like this... makes me feel like some of my previous read-throughs have been wasted time.
Excited for you two to be on talking thrones, very sweet.
Thanks Kamel! Means a lot coming from you!
oh and by the way, thats coming in the next video which is already about 12 pages long
that's the best news I heard in a really long time, this week was bad but you guys just saved it! now I'm so excited that I can't sit 😂
Best way to end a work week after a hard day.
glad we could help out!
do you guys think one of the spin off could be about Gath or his era?
Possibly! I never thought of that as an option, but that would make for some good television.
Charles Brown That would be american gods meets AGOT
Honestly that’s exactly what I want. I rather watch a show about Garth’s descendants and the Age of Hero’s than whatever they are trying. They are told almost like fairy tales so thy could be inventive with personalities and conflicts as long as they stuck to the major points we know.
This series of videos rocks! I may be having a brain lapse, and you've already covered this. But, how did Rhaegar get blue roses to crown Lyanna with? The roses that only grow in the Winterfell greenhouses. "I broke into your home and found a present for you!"
+Kevin Logan a tourney of such pomp and circumstance would likely have vendors selling all sorts of rare and costly things
Yay! Been waiting for this!
+Kelly Lausman enjoy!
i do believe this is the first video I've had to re-watch. .at this time I've seen it only once.
Hahaha! Amazing comment. Thank you. This video was really tough and we have like 12 more pages written for part 2!
Very close to 20k subs congrats.
thank you Moos...it never could have happened without people like you who have been here with us since we had practically none...we couldn't have had much more than 1000 if we even had that when you first popped up in our comment section if I remember correctly
The Order of the Green Hand You guys are way underrated compared to the amount of effort you put in these vids and their quality.
Thank you Anurag
8:10
One man came up with all of this, and that man is GRRM.
Good👍 video🎥👍🔥🔥
More and More becoming my favorite youtube channel... you guys are fuckin crushing it
thank you so much!
you guys goin to Con of Thrones next year? I missed it this year but I am definitely planning to check it out in '18, yous guys should be on some panels!!
we're thinking about it...if we're going to go, we will definitely make it known, either in a video, or on social media, or probably both
Can you please make a video on Durran Godsgrief?
And just one thing, you have by this time developed so meny theories, that poor Goerge would need four decadedes of life - not just the last the books of ASOIAF, but another like Dunk and Egg sequels, just to prove all those theories right.
I dont know any more. But you are wise and fun to listen to, no mistake abouth that. I especially like how you connect his possibilities with the worlds lores and legends and facts...
There, so you do not say that I only scold you guys. Because you - in one word - ROCK!
+Dalibor Klobučar thanks Dali!!
I'm new to this channel and I'm amazed. All the work you put into these videos is amazing. You're doing quite a great job. This is your second video I've watched. I was just about to choose between a 'The Walking dead' episode or this. Guess what I've chosen😂. You're even worth of me making few other channels and subscribing, I swear.
thank you so much! its a big day when we beat out the walking dead! hope you were glad with your choice!
The Order of the Green Hand I'm glad I chose this. I went to sleep without watching the episode. I guess I'll watch it today.
hey you awesome people i love the orderof the green hand. you are so dedicated to research and logic..keep up the good, great work!!!!
Thank you so much!!
Just pointing out it has some interesting implications for the theory.
+Kevin Sherwin I want to say more but will have to refrain! Haha
Good point ser!
Since Qohor smiths can still produce Valyrian steel and they are known for their worship of the Black Goat and blood sacrifices, I've long figured there was a connection.
The Order of the Green Hand are you suggesting Nissa Nissa is Lady Forlon? And killing her gave the sword it's name?
Snow Mercy They can't produce it but they can reforge existing Valyrian steel.
I can't speak for the order, but I was going with the blood magic used by the children infused into steel. think weirwood paste made into a weapon.
Yes!!!! Been waiting for this!
+Dom Brady enjoy!
Best 26 minutes of my day!
thank you so much
and one more thing
" thank you " it is not enough for all the work you been doing
Thank you for recognizing the hard work and for watching!
Waiting for the next one in this series!!!
it will be online in about an hour
great content as always :D
nice video, I wanna se more! 😄
thank you so much...we're on a show full court press right now trying to get ready for season 7, but will be back to making weekly book theory vids, starting the Wednesday following the premiere
If I'm not mistaken. the drowned g-ds antithesis is the storm g-d. And the storm lands once held the belief in similar deities. are iron islanders somehow related to storm landers? it's obvious that there's some kind of connecting between their deities
Awesome stuff as usual
Thank you!
Love what y’all do! It makes me think about the books. Although some times I feel like y’all reach
I just realized in clash of kings why melisandre needed davos to get her closer to storms end. Because her shadow baby couldn't go over the wall! 😆
You guys read between the lines and go outside the "fan fair" and happy sunshine rainbow theories and all
Hi! Thank you so much! Total OGH warrior you are. Good and loyal man, I love it.
Yes indeed :-). My aim is to be a knight of the Order of the Green Hand. They were killed off at the field of fire by Aegon and his sisters, but desire to ensure the rebirth. Long live the Order!
Your subs at this very moment are 19,999! Fancy dinner tonight? I keep rechecking for the 20k moment! Love QOT.🌹 👏👏👏👏👏😀
Hello!! We made it!! Thank you so much ! You're the best and live up to the name Olenna Tyrell, and those are some big shoes to fill!! -xo- MaryEllen
Is ser green hand's day job narrating children's books? Because I swear my 4 year old and I just listened to him read Max at Night.
I wish I could just sit around reading things into a mic all day for a living, but unfortunately that is not the case...neither of us had ever done anything like this before we decided to make a few videos last fall
I like LML's theory that Dawn is the original Ice. Another link between the Starks and Daynes.
why would the Starks give their sword to the Daynes?
Night's king
it seems to me that the founder of House Dayne's legend wouldn't include how he forged Dawn if a Stark really did it and then gave it to them...Dawn resembles the pale flame swords in Dany's dream about what appeared to be the Gemstone Emperors a lot more, except it is solid pale flame...unless he is trying to claim that the Daynes and the Starks are actually the same family, which I have a hard time seeing cause the Daynes have a semi-valyrian look and I've never seen an example of a Stark that looked like that, I can't imagine a circumstance where the Starks would give their sword to someone else willingly...and Ned's sword isn't red...it's dark grey...Arya thinks the comet reminds her of her father's sword but that doesn't mean Ned's sword is red
Is Garth Greenhand the same kind of creature/entity/legend as Tom Bombadil?
He seems to be similar
@@TheOrderoftheGreenhand I always wanted to know more about old Tom...looked kind of frail, but who knows how powerful he really was?
