I'm not the biggest VV or KISS fan, but if you check out his session work in the late-1970s, he was a fine melodic player. He definitely went waaaaayy off of the rails in the 1980s.
Vinnie and Vernon (Reid) sound alot alike........they like to play fast for the sake of playing fast forgoing melody or structure. I agree with the channel though in that Vinnie had a good knack for nice and catchy riffs and when MADE TO he had nice solo's that fit the songs ('Danger' on Creatures of the night and 'A million to one' off of Lick it up to name 2). Vinnie is alot like Yngwie in that he 'could' have been better as 1/4th of a band instead if a control freak.
Robben Ford played most of the solos on Creatures of the Night album. Gene said that and the few VV played he had to play what Gene and Paul said him to play and nothing else.
@@zomielastaroth4956 I thought Robben only played the solo's in "I still love you' ? I know Steve Farris (Mister Mister) played that awesome solo on the title track ( Creatures of the night). I'm sure there are at least 4 different guy's doing the solo's.
@@tproudboomer5965 Neither, though my hearing isn't what it used to be and I'd like to be high......but anyway's- They sound alike, imo, concerning how they both like to play 'fast for the sake of playing fast'. They obviously have a different melodic sense, but they cram alot of notes when playing fast. For example listen to Vinnie on that extended solo at the end of 'Animal' , then listen to Vernon on the solo's in 'Cult of Personality'. I hear dude's playing fast using a similar TECHNIQUE (or lack of). Seems that thier left and right hands ( along with thier brain) aren't quite in sync.
A lot of people don't know this but he's a pretty damn good vocalist too. I heard some old demos he did once where he did all the vocals as well as guitar. Not shabby.
Well, he was also one hell of a song writer, aside from his guitar playing. Even after dismissing Vincent from the band, Paul and Gene brought him back to help increase album sales and restore their careers. Kiss recognized he could write the hits they needed. To be clear, growing older is not some sort of moral failing, as is often insinuated across the media.
Aside from this mindless shredding, he’s actually a badass player. He’s been described by fellow musicians as a guy who got in his own way. He didn’t slow down because it was boring to him. He may have been a bit off the reservation, but there was untouchable talent there.
Vinnie doesn't bother with guitar playing anymore because there's no money in it now. You make money in the music business by writing songs. I learned to write songs from studying Vinnie's music.
Some licks he plays on Invasion are unreal.
I wish he'd join Cory Feldman's band.
@@fumanpoo4725 he could do a benefit concert for the deaf
And do a duet with Steven Segal
Even in the early days Vinnie couldn't play. Rumour has it he used to mic up a wasps nest, kick it and mime along with the angry cacophony
lol

In the 80s? He’s off the rails now.
Lick it up was what made me a kiss fan.
Eek.
1:05 OMG ---- Mixolydian Mode, what a bad guy....LOL
I swear he could pass for character actress illeana Douglas
😂 You made my day!
Vinnie is a great songwriter/singer/guitarist! period.
WAS
That Reh Guitar instruction video didn't have his best playing at all. The solos he did onstage in 1982-88 were better.

Vernon Reid is a jazz player I can see why you'd think his solos lacked melody and structure
Vinny Vincent and Vernon Reid sound a lot alike? You’re either high or def.

Notice that no one has ever seen him and Roxy Petrucci from Vixen in the same place at the same time.
Just saying.

No shame in getting older. It's how you do it that matters. And, def. VV was a competent songwriter! 🤘

Agree!
sounds like angry bees .. he was never high in my book ,, songwriter ...thats what he is
Hooo-ahhhh
🤘JENNY VINCENT🤘
lol

Sounds like shit then sounds like shit now. He fell off most people’s radars after he was fired from Kiss for a reason.
Is Vinnie a he or a she now?
Will always be a man. Could be a mutilated man though lol
She loves pant suits and is called Vivian
Never could stand his playing
Vinnie,,,, or Vanessa?
So weird,,,,,🙄
Not a fan.
Terrible.
