Honestly, this whiskey was marketed to me and really brought me in to drinking straight whiskey no chasers on the rocks. It’s a tad sweeter than Jameson but I’m no whiskey nerd. This one helped me up my ability to drink my whiskey straight just like theses guys said. Ironically I did like bush mills straight but liked proper 12 better. Of course I now lean toward blended whiskeys as I’m still learning what I like. Excellent review. This whiskey is overpriced by about 5 dollars. I can do neat pours but rocks definitely soothes it.
Bought a bottle for my buddy who raved about it when it first came out. So after that I bought 1 also ($40.00 at the time in P.A.) It was okay but not worth twice the price as my favorite Irish whiskies (Paddy's, 2Gingers, Hellcat Maggie or Clontarf) But unlike any of those, Proper12 gave me a massive handover Headache.

Found some Wild Turkey 101 and Maker's Mark in the supermarket in the UK recently. Thanks to your reviews I picked them up and I gotta say I liked them more than I thought I would, never drank bourbon before outside of JD or Jim Beam. Not gonna knock some of the Jura's or Glengoyne's off their pedestals but still a decent addition to the collection
Wild Turkey 101 is delicious. I love it. Makers, i enjoy but i find it only hints at flavor I could find up their product line. Makers is suitable at parties and airports. I choose Wild Turkey 101 over A LOT of pricier bourbons. Blantons, Angels Envy, Eagle Rare (which isnt more expensive just harder to find)... i like the 101 better
I’m trying proper twelve right now. My next sentence will be about it. Tbh it’s not as hard as a bite at Jack Daniels but gives me that vibe. I’m buying this from now on. First time seeing it in my Canadian LC and now it’s my go-to. Bring the bottles
I actually did a neat pour of it, at a bar, for a lark and to see what the deal was, and I found it pretty enjoyable. Super simple and a little mettalic, certainly not something I'd buy a bottle of, but not worth the hate I keep seeing it get. I would drink it if someone offered it.
Can we all agree from now on that Everyone going to the campus that see's Daniel must say something Proper 12 related to watch him run into the forest?....
Just tried this for the first time. My local Irish pub had it as the Irish Whiskey of the month, $6 a poor. So I figured hey for $6 I'll try a new Irish :) It was okay, pretty on par for the price point. I still prefer something like Green Spot for my daily sipper. Or even Jameson Black Barrel.
I drink Proper Twelve neat. I get the cheap whiskey taste, but I get an overwhelming note of vanilla. Making it taste like I’m drinking candy. Please forgive me for not putting ice in the glass
It's called Proper Twelve cause McGregor is from an area in Dublin called Crumlin which is in Dublin 12, and you guys are right, that liquid inside the bottle is absolute garbage 😄
I find it hilariously incredible that McNuggets had the Gall to call this Proper #12 after the postal code of the district in Dublin he was from. The proceeds to make this garbage in Northern Ireland.
I really enjoy this with ginger and have since it came out a few years ago but I watched your Blanton's single barrel review before this and LOVED drinking that neat on new year's eve.
Honestly it's not as bad as they are making it out to be. I've had it and liked it and I am pretty well versed in whiskeys. They definitely decided that it isn't good before they had any. That much is apparent.
I may have pallet made out of cardboard, but I actually like this one. Not that it is great sipper, but in my book it is kinda ok for a small casual dram. I had a bottle some two years ago and I did not like it at all, but recently I was gifted one and I was quite surprised. It tastes less bland than basic Jameson or Bushmills to me.
Ok, I’ve always drank Jameson. I like all the Irish whiskeys I also like single malt scotch when I can find a deal. But the good thing about Proper #12, is that I can drink it like ice tea. Literally, it’s so easy to drink, try it neat maybe chase it with a soft drink or tea. It’s extremely drinkable. Proper #12 is what I bring to parties and keep to myself. Frankly it’s so easy to drink I keep checking to see if it’s really 80 proof. It drinks like water. If you want to impress your beer drinker friends, bring a bottle of 12 and down it in cocktail glasses. Beer drinkers tend to choke on whiskey. This is so smooth that you will look like a badass. Lol.
I actually do neat pours of it ahaha, definitely doesn’t compete with almost any other whiskey in my collection, And without the name it really is more like a 15$ whiskey, but I also don’t mind it.
Agreed, powers punches above its weight. It has a much more substantial body and texture than other Irish whiskeys in its price range. Wicked fruity dram, like ripe bananas to me
I tried this neat, I thought it may grow on me but I think it worsened over time. Jameson was leagues ahead. But, because of the artificially sweet taste, it actually made for a really nice Irish coffee!

He can pay off a few of his mistresses and perhaps even settle a court deal.
With that money he is now drinking something worthwhile like real isla scotch octomore a man drink
But did McGregor actually sell his share?
Comment aged well, he just bought a new watch😂
600m dollars
Nice to see the Laphroaig back on the shelf.
This quickly became a mixer whiskey when I tried it because of the same metallic note that just never went away
To be fair I do actually like Proper Twelve as a neat pour... maybe i'm just weird, it wouldn't be the first time i've been accused of it
Whiskey to me is like steak. People turn their noses up at a well done steak. Well, fuck, I love beef jerky, and a well done steak is better than beef jerky. There's very few instances in which i'd turn down any whiskey or steak unless it had some crazy artificial flavors added or something equivalent to that. Of course, I would never willingly choose or buy such things.
Ya. It's not bad. Ppl keep saying that it's popular because of its branding, but I'm wondering if it's the opposite. Ppl dislike for it's brand.
@@yugen Agreed, there are some types of food or drinks that bascially can't get worse than a 7/10. That's beer for me, not ice cold or a craft beer that's not really my thing? Still a 7/10.
Proper 12 is a decent whiskey, I would prefer it over Jameson any given day.
5:16 Daniel, without comment, removes the Laphroaig that Emma put on the wall (where it belongs) and replaces it with the Laguvulin (which does not belong there).
As the place for quintessential Islay Whisky, I think it could be argued that Caol Ila should be in that spot
@@lcpholman Was just gonna say 'Replace the L's with Caol Ila'! 😉
There was a slight bottle carress by Daniel which made me uncomfortable haha
Glad that I’m not the only one who noticed.
Literally read that comment as it happened. Perfect.
I totally saw it and was slightly uncomfortable. Haha
If you ever come across a bottle of Buffalo Trace, go for it. I highly recommend.
If it's McGregor offering u better drink it lol
Amazing how Fancy Dan managed to place this video in a Vault that doesn't exist in 2017.
Can we all agree from now on that Everyone going to the campus that see's Daniel must say something Proper 12 related to watch him run into the forest?....
Oz jus thinkin 'at... lol
lmao if I had more free time i'd LOVE to pull this prank on them.
Ha
It's called Proper Twelve cause McGregor is from an area in Dublin called Crumlin which is in Dublin 12, and you guys are right, that liquid inside the bottle is absolute garbage 😄
Well now I want CB to make a Cedar smoked whiskey and call it "It's Pokey"
I find it hilariously incredible that McNuggets had the Gall to call this Proper #12 after the postal code of the district in Dublin he was from. The proceeds to make this garbage in Northern Ireland.
They kept it real on this one☝🏻 Proper dumpster juice at best🤣
I really enjoy this with ginger and have since it came out a few years ago but I watched your Blanton's single barrel review before this and LOVED drinking that neat on new year's eve.
Honestly it's not as bad as they are making it out to be. I've had it and liked it and I am pretty well versed in whiskeys. They definitely decided that it isn't good before they had any. That much is apparent.
I agree. It's budget friendly and it's really not that bad.
I drink Irish whiskey 99% of the time. I really didn’t like it at all personally but it’s definitely got it’s fans. I
I may have pallet made out of cardboard, but I actually like this one. Not that it is great sipper, but in my book it is kinda ok for a small casual dram. I had a bottle some two years ago and I did not like it at all, but recently I was gifted one and I was quite surprised. It tastes less bland than basic Jameson or Bushmills to me.
Usually makes my stomach. It’s good with soda. Surprised they didn’t make a more mature spirit yet, think that’d be really good.
Powers Gold Label is on a par price-wise with Bushmills and Jameson, very decent, easy drinking, Irish. Hard to fault.
Agreed, powers punches above its weight. It has a much more substantial body and texture than other Irish whiskeys in its price range. Wicked fruity dram, like ripe bananas to me
You can’t get a bad bottle of Powers, it’s all great!
I tried this neat, I thought it may grow on me but I think it worsened over time. Jameson was leagues ahead. But, because of the artificially sweet taste, it actually made for a really nice Irish coffee!
Conor McGregor’s Proper No. Twelve whiskey team is donating $1.3 million to first responder organizations worldwide. McGregor revealed last year that his team would donate $5 for every case sold up to $1 million per year to first responders.
They just bought him out. He doesn’t own it anymore so I’m guessing he had little to do with that
"And when you drink.."
"May you drink something else"
That killed me
I'm not a whiskey connoisseur, just an alcoholic. I bought the shit with idea of it was Connors. Even if I had known it was Connor McGregors, I wouldn't have cared.
That being said, I personally think the whiskey itself is drinkable and versatile but it does feel generic and lacking character.. which is funny considering it's affiliation.
I've been infinity blending it since 2019.
If you were truly the ice lord, the machine wouldn't even need to be plugged in to work. It would gladly make ice for you just for your status.
I drank my bottle of Proper Twelve neat. I didn’t mind it but maybe the lockdown had something to do with it. Cheers!
The Irish apple was at least somewhat easy to get down lol
you guys had be going hard, "drink something else". so good
This sh*t is more expensive than Jameson in many places (30% more where I am). Let that sink in.
This is, by far, the greatest whiskey I've never had.
If I had a room like that in my house I'd be dead in a week.
ahahah drink something else. I totally can feel that this was meh , was nicely said and done :)
What is the smell and taste palate compare to the Jameson? I´ve never drink Proper Twelve and I want to buy it.
Good Morning MB's
The only whisky I poured down the sink... the whole bottle. It tasted so young I was worried I was on To Catch a Predator. It was so metallic I thought I was tongue kissing a Transformer. Autobots assemble.
Curious when you`re gonna review scotch again.
Not a good sipper,. A little astringent, and rough in the finish, but it's fine with some Ginger ale and a twist of lime.
And the whiskey snobs have spoken. Should have done a blind test.
You're not wrong, this might actually be better than the durian liquor.
BURNT TIRE is the Taste Note 🤣
