  • Here is a run through of my newest guitar, enjoy!
    Played through my Splawn Quick Rod head into a cheap Raven 1x12 cab with some mystery celestion, TC Electronic G-Major in the effects loop for compression, reverb and delays. Cab mic'd with a Zoom H1 recorder.

    Not sure how anyone could dislike this demo. It is excellent! All tones shown clearly clean, dirt and more dirt. Superbly played. Rats now I want the 57/08 in my PRS.

    Thanks so much for taking the time to do this demo. You’ve got the perfect touch for getting that amp to bark. Reminds me of my own attack, and that gives me a much better idea of how these pickups will sound in my own guitar.

    Great demo, Lucas! I’ve got a set of 57/08s brand new in the box. I could never decide which guitar to put them in. I tried selling them but no one was interested. Now that I’ve finally heard a proper demonstration, I will indeed put them into action. Thanks for for knocking me off the fence!

    I have a McCarty SC245 Limted w/57/08's
    & they just roar through high gain amps. Clear,tight and easy to get pinch harmonics. Great tone even with a 1x12 cab.
    Well done !

    I saw this video a long time ago. I got my Gibson LP and made my own wiring, of course, I didn't remember this video was a huge influence on my final tone. Artie-Pohodolus wiring diagram was the final project to fit in my LP. THANX for this video !

    I must say, amazing tone out of your amp and 245. I I always regarded the 245 to never need a pick up change, but after trying a 57/08 in person on a studio and then hearing it on a 245, Kinda want to do it now. Great vid man

    Got a PRS 20th 22 with solid big Leaf US mahogany body... currently running Gibson's 57s 2013 in it... to replace dragon IIs which sounded muddy and colorless.... Could be due to the electronics but after hearing 57/08 I think I'll put them in...they got there own character and color....i think they will work well with my guitar body adding a little bit more warm tone... awesome demo.....

    Wow, outstanding demo. I've got a PRS CE24 and a Splawn StreetRod. Thinking about the 57/08's but they're bloody expensive. That Hardwire OD on top of gear 2 sounded really good. Gear 2 is a bit muddy for my tastes normally. All the stuff on gear 1 sounded fantastic!

    can't wait to get one. had an r8 that got stolen not too long ago. been wanting a prs sc245 for a long time. there is something breath like about them that makes them very 3d. no matter the pickups that came stock all the ones I tried are just impeccable. go prs!!! I have switched

    • @darrennwalters6830
      @darrennwalters6830 7 років тому +1

      not that the r8 was bad in any way shape or form just different and a lot less guitfiddle for my money. the prs is just better quality build fit and finish and doesn't weigh a ton. and plays itself. what more can I ask for right?

    This is like the Les Paul with humbuckers by Gibson should sound to get the maximum best tones. Definitely saving up for the combo of a PRS SC245 but as an SE model and then upgrade the pickups to these US ones.

    Damn you! Now I want those 65 trillion dollar pickups! :-) I've been wondering if they are really worth it but couldn't really find a demo that laid all the tones out quite like you did. Don't know your amp, but from the comments this is more pickups than amp. Oh, and you kill. ;-) Rock on brother!

  • @LucasFowler
    @LucasFowler  11 років тому +2

    It's very similar, the neck is fatter. The scale length seems to make it a bit softer/smoother sounding as well. And of course the Tremonti pickups are screaming hot and these are more mellow. I have both, and they are both awesome guitars, you couldn't go wrong with either.

  • @LucasFowler
    @LucasFowler  11 років тому +2

    Well, I can't really say that the neck is thinner, because there are so many different models of Les Paul. It isn't baseball bat thick, but it isn't thin like the Tremonti's neck.

      @@allend3127 I don't know what pickups came with your s2 Satin, (used come with 7s, then 85/15s), But mine has 58/15s, and I think they are amazing. I also have a PRS SE custom, with 85/15s and it never sounded too great, and the s2 standard with the 58/15s sounds SO MUCH better. Like night and day better! I might put 57/08s in the SE though.

  • @LucasFowler
    @LucasFowler  11 років тому +2

    That's kind of subjective. They are relatively low output in comparison to the Tremonti's stock pickups, but they have excellent clarity and tone. I would say yes, if you aren't totally wrapped up in the idea of having "metal" pickups.
