- Here is a run through of my newest guitar, enjoy!
Played through my Splawn Quick Rod head into a cheap Raven 1x12 cab with some mystery celestion, TC Electronic G-Major in the effects loop for compression, reverb and delays. Cab mic'd with a Zoom H1 recorder.

Not sure how anyone could dislike this demo. It is excellent! All tones shown clearly clean, dirt and more dirt. Superbly played. Rats now I want the 57/08 in my PRS.
I probably wouldn't have changed the pickups, they just happened to be in the guitar when I got it. I think they sound killer. Thanks!
Sweet video. Seriously.
Nice to see a GOOD demo vid. Rock on, man.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this demo. You’ve got the perfect touch for getting that amp to bark. Reminds me of my own attack, and that gives me a much better idea of how these pickups will sound in my own guitar.
Love that guitar and enjoyed hearing you play. Thanks for posting this vid.
Great demo, Lucas! I’ve got a set of 57/08s brand new in the box. I could never decide which guitar to put them in. I tried selling them but no one was interested. Now that I’ve finally heard a proper demonstration, I will indeed put them into action. Thanks for for knocking me off the fence!
I have a McCarty SC245 Limted w/57/08's
& they just roar through high gain amps. Clear, tight and easy to get pinch harmonics. Great tone even with a 1x12 cab.
Well done !
This guitar sounds gorgeous!
Dude your tone just rocks my friggin' socks!!!
Glad to be of service, good sir!
Great playing and good demo. I just purchased a 2008 McCarty ll which I'm planning on replacing the 245 (The pickups PRS puts in the Mira) pickup with 57/08s. This was very helpful.
Wowsa, those pickups are sensational. I'd like to try them in my historic LP!
Nice!! Sounds excellent. Great demo
sounds great man! Nice tone across the board.
Sounds incredible!
I saw this video a long time ago. I got my Gibson LP and made my own wiring, of course, I didn't remember this video was a huge influence on my final tone. Artie-Pohodolus wiring diagram was the final project to fit in my LP. THANX for this video !
Keep on rockin'

Sounds great! Really good demo.
Great demo man!
Great playing and tone. Thanks
Good video! playing,tone,top notch
Thanks for the video, these pickups sound incredible
I must say, amazing tone out of your amp and 245. I I always regarded the 245 to never need a pick up change, but after trying a 57/08 in person on a studio and then hearing it on a 245, Kinda want to do it now. Great vid man
very nice pickups! I'm getting a prs with those for sure! Thanks!
Great demo/review, thanks. I just recently played an SC245 and you're spot on. Only problem is now I want one.
Use the force Luke! Nice job Lucas!!
Got a PRS 20th 22 with solid big Leaf US mahogany body... currently running Gibson's 57s 2013 in it... to replace dragon IIs which sounded muddy and colorless.... Could be due to the electronics but after hearing 57/08 I think I'll put them in...they got there own character and color....i think they will work well with my guitar body adding a little bit more warm tone... awesome demo.....
Awesome guitar - thanks for sharing and keep rockin' -cheers !
Great sounding pickups. I put a set in my SE and they sound great. By the way your playing is amazing!
Excellent demo
Wow, outstanding demo. I've got a PRS CE24 and a Splawn StreetRod. Thinking about the 57/08's but they're bloody expensive. That Hardwire OD on top of gear 2 sounded really good. Gear 2 is a bit muddy for my tastes normally. All the stuff on gear 1 sounded fantastic!
Sounds Great!
great great tone !
5:14 - Dat Juicy Black Widow
can't wait to get one. had an r8 that got stolen not too long ago. been wanting a prs sc245 for a long time. there is something breath like about them that makes them very 3d. no matter the pickups that came stock all the ones I tried are just impeccable. go prs!!! I have switched
not that the r8 was bad in any way shape or form just different and a lot less guitfiddle for my money. the prs is just better quality build fit and finish and doesn't weigh a ton. and plays itself. what more can I ask for right?
Great demo Lucas. Looking at a set of these for my new PRS SE CE24.
Sounds so killer with the QR
Good demo Lucas
nice vid on the 245. enjoyed it and the playing. cheers!
Thanks!
Nice man! I have Customm 22 with Dragon 1 pickups, they are geat, but I want little change, Im thinking about 57/08, this helped alot!
They sound great
Sounds killer
This is like the Les Paul with humbuckers by Gibson should sound to get the maximum best tones. Definitely saving up for the combo of a PRS SC245 but as an SE model and then upgrade the pickups to these US ones.
Damn you! Now I want those 65 trillion dollar pickups! :-) I've been wondering if they are really worth it but couldn't really find a demo that laid all the tones out quite like you did. Don't know your amp, but from the comments this is more pickups than amp. Oh, and you kill. ;-) Rock on brother!
I have 2 cores with 57/08's custom 22 and SC58 great sounding pups
It's very similar, the neck is fatter. The scale length seems to make it a bit softer/smoother sounding as well. And of course the Tremonti pickups are screaming hot and these are more mellow. I have both, and they are both awesome guitars, you couldn't go wrong with either.
By the way, you're a really good player, very versatile.
your a really nice clean player
Killer, dude! I've got a 2013. I love mine but I've got no coil tap
thanks again man! : )
Great tone! Thinking about equipping my Custom 24 with 57/08's. Tried the 59/09's and the HFS/VB, but I'm not sure if I like the tone as much as the more vintage sounding 57/08's you have there. Great playing too! Thanks!
Dude can pick!
Hey man, thanks for the awesome review! I'm planning to get a SC245 and would love the split humbucker option. Did you have that custom added or is it standard with the model?
Nice playing!
gll
Lucas, I've been watching a few video of this guitar.Very great recording demo you got there, thanks! I'm mostly looking SC 245 vs SE245 review. From what I can heard, it seem to be the pickup that made the hugh difference. Maybe the wood could made a slight difference. The sc245 have more wood. What your opinion?
I think this finish is called "McCarty Burst." Its beautiful.
Splawn Quick Rod head!?I never heard about it before!!Outstanding sound!!:) That's fantastic sound and a nice guitar too!!Have you ever tried the PU 59/09?Gratz man you are a Lucky guy!!:)
No, I'm not wrapped up at all : ). I guess those pick ups are good for everything!, thanks again Lucas.
Good video
Now that is definitely subjective :P
Its a Wide/fat neck carve, so it feels relatively full in my hands. I have no trouble playing fast on it.
Thanks man! : )
Hey Lucas great demo!! I have PRS Cu 24 and I am thinking of changing mine from 59/09s to the 57/08S ??
Awesome Playing and Setup Mr Fowler. So, is the hardwire overdrive the only distortion we are hearing toward the end? I have a lot of OD pedals and have never gotten a distortion like that out of my SE Custom 24. I have the HFS/Vintage bass puckups, Really wish I had the 57/08 pickups instead. Thanks
Great tone and playing! Do you still have the Splawn? That amp sounds amazing!
Hey Lucas great demo mate! How does it compare to your Tremonti? Is the scale heaps different in feel or hard to adjust to, and has the bridge got enough balls to do hard rock and such?
great demo mate, great sounds, I am gonna get one but as usual the split coil sounds bad to my ears
Nice man. Still 4 more than I got haha!
I have a prs standard 22 1990's .i need to get a set of these
hi lucas very cool, whats is the difference about this guitar and sc 58?
Could you share your hardwire overdrive settings please? Presume it's the CM2.
What are you thoughts on putting the Tremonti pick ups in this guitar?
Well, I can't really say that the neck is thinner, because there are so many different models of Les Paul. It isn't baseball bat thick, but it isn't thin like the Tremonti's neck.
Great vid! (And 6 yrs ago?) this really helped me with lookin for PRS p ups to mod my S2 Satin Singlecut... the7’s are way muddy. Im happy to see such a rockin Gain tone on these. Tremonti might be too much gain for me... if you happen to see this comment, what OD pedal are you throwin in front of that Splawn?
What pickups did you go with? I'm looking for the same thing for my S2 Satin doublecut.
Allen Diego sold it. Loved Pearly Gates though
@@allend3127 I don't know what pickups came with your s2 Satin, (used come with 7s, then 85/15s), But mine has 58/15s, and I think they are amazing. I also have a PRS SE custom, with 85/15s and it never sounded too great, and the s2 standard with the 58/15s sounds SO MUCH better. Like night and day better! I might put 57/08s in the SE though.
That's kind of subjective. They are relatively low output in comparison to the Tremonti's stock pickups, but they have excellent clarity and tone. I would say yes, if you aren't totally wrapped up in the idea of having "metal" pickups.
AWESOME! is the neck thinner than a les paul? and the prs tremont's neck?, thanks!.
How do these compare to newer 58-15’s? I have my choice between all three LT’s as well and am trying to decide what to go with on my new 30th anniversary vine custom 22? Help
Man i just ordered myself one
hey dude iv just got a 2010 sc 245 25th anniversary it also has the 57/08 i find the tone to be a little too fat an bass heavy that it sounds flubby on the bridge pickup/ almost makes the guitar sound a bit sterile. any suggestions dude?
Did that version came with the coil tap stuff? or did you installed it?
how many PRS's do you own? I know the tremonti and the 2 ce's but like theres this one and the starla too!
Wish the coil tap wouldn't have the drop in volume, an issue that existed with Gibsons as well but the new standards no longer have that, but nonetheless this is a great guitar.
does all sc 245 have coil tap or do you have to mod it. im looking at buying a 2013 one
is this shorter then the tremonti? can do a comparison between the two?
Zack Myers 2014 SE please!
Awesome demo...well done...just the right amount of talking and lots of good playing.
These pickups sound really awesome....I would love a pair for my SE 245.
Lucas; have you come across a comparable set of pickups that don't cost as much.....used 57/08s are very expensive.
Rock on !!!
Anybody know of a comparable set of pickups that aren't as expensive as these PRS 57/08s ??
Btw! are those pick ups good for metal?. Thanks
How would you compare this to the American Tremonti?
Lucas.. how fat would say is the neck of the prs se 245? good for shreeding?, blues?
I think I might throw some 57/08s in my Eastman T386 now lol
Very nice strap. Could you pls let me know what is that strap style? Many thanks.
That's a PRS Camo strap that I bought at the PRS Experience in Maryland in 2012. I'm not sure if they still make them or not.
I'm not well versed on PRS pickups, however, from everything I've heard they sound amazing! I wonder how these (59/08) differ from the current 59/09, or if there's any difference at all. Thanks!
***** PRS cannot make a pickup to save their life lol
But they make great guitars and replacing their pups opens up new worlds!
All a matter of what you like....245 sounds tiny next to a Les Paul, been there done that. Still a great guitar, but just not a LP replacement.
What are you ten? You can't converse with name calling? Truly spoken like a moron with no idea what he is talking about. Blocked lol
+TheAerovons Go away with your Les Paul ...
LOL what are you are, ten?
Whoa Lucas with long hair.!
What colour is that bro ?
First off I have to apologize for not being as educated as all of you on this subject, but I need to know. What are the major differences between the 57/08 pickups and the 58/15 pickups?
Ben Christ Well I have the 58/15 pickups in my 2016 McCarty. It's my first PRS but the sound has got to be one of the best things I have ever heard... so much clarity man...
GeetarGeeker You didn't answer his question.
Déus Herbert-Noel There's no way I could have answered his question due to only owning one PRS. Learn to read my friend.
GeetarGeeker I wasn't concerned about you owning one PRS though. And the 57/08s have more clarity IMO.
I installed them myself.
Do all PRS pickups use the same wire color code?
Why is not green?
Please tell me, do you prefer SC245 or SE245? (please is more important)
Well I've had both, and the SC245 is better. The SE245 is awesome for the money, but the real deal is just nicer.
What do you thing about S2 Single Cut?
Bro....that guitar is NASTY. ...in ALL of the pickup positions!!!
How loud did you have the amp?
Hah, that is random! I'm about 5'10". It feels a little smaller than a Gibson Les Paul to me.
