Great series on this tractor repair, enjoy the tear down and diagnosis as you and Tim get deeper into the trans and drive line mechanical issue. The JD family of techs are certainly watching I'll bet because as you stated earlier in the series the dealers don't do many of these 6200 tractors. Enjoy your vacation, will wait for more excellent video of this job !
wes with all that lumber you have in the woods you could make yourself a great work shop just for these kind of jobs it would be a lot better to keep warm. keep up the great work..
Thanks for including us again in this winter mechanic video. Remind us of your trip and tell us when the last vid will be before you leave. We will miss you while you are gone unless you post vids while on your trip. :)
matt gordon they seem to be good .. i have not broken any and they are not out of size like some of the cheaper tools i have owned.. i like the craftsmen tool line but in a pinch the napa tools are great.
Either you know what your doing or your putting on one damn good act! Then if I had a tractor which I don't and it need fixed, I know who to take it to.
Hey Kevin Willis It's literally all in pieces, axles out. Need to strip them to get parts shot blasted like brakes and chassis brackets :) then I'm going to paint it all and collect my brand new chassis :D can't wait!!! Thanks Kim
I just kinda figured it wouldn't move, because it was in multiple gears.... Since shifter cables and such were disconnected.... What was the problem originally? Before deere made it worse by not putting it back together...?
Nice to see, when you understand how and why it works you don't generally need books to diagnose problems, the only real time I find them useful is during reassembly for torque/angle settings and tolerances.
JD Country must watch YT too! Mngmt. must have been pissing pebbles when they saw how pissed you were and talked about cancelling your order and buying a MF. I hope you post a breakdown on labor and parts, then compare it to the JD estimate. Safe travels!
Gotta ask... was it Deere Country in Allentown? Should have taken it to the boys in Myerstown... just a little further, and well worth the drive. Well, you know... you go there!!
Obviously. from the way things have been coming apart.. There was no diagnosis teardown.. they guessed and when they do that they guess on the Big End... Room to come down on the Cost (11500?)
should have a workshop manual so you know what you're doing BEFORE you start dismantling. what if the owner ends up with everything in bits and you never found fault.
Hire a mechanic, the transmission and rear as well as brakes can be diagnosed before disassembled, by turning the input shaft in high gear the axles should turn, if the axles do not turn then check for play in the planetary drives if the brakes are locking there will be no motion at all. Looks like rust accumulated problems or freeze up in the clutches! Your mistake was taking it apart to much before trouble shooting properly. This type damage can be prevented by changing engine oil. Just offering suggestions that might make it easier next time.
what kind of spiders do you have up there? At 2:03 I see the spider noose blowing in the wind. Guess they forget the web and work to hang their victims.
......hmmmm?...the error of their ways.....funny how large amounts of money and subs watching on you tube can change their ways......have a good trip.....see ya in 20......

how do you like the Carlyle tools from napa? I see you are using more and more.

+onelonleyfarmer you guys should come to michigan and stop on in a little town called Scotts and stop by the boer's nest for a visit
What ever happened to the pos hay wagon? I thought it had broke again a few videos back.

May I ask what a "de-tent" is?
Wow that's getting there! I wondered if we'd see you get to the synchronisers.
Kim
hi kim how is the defender coming along.
Hey Kevin Willis
It's literally all in pieces, axles out. Need to strip them to get parts shot blasted like brakes and chassis brackets :) then I'm going to paint it all and collect my brand new chassis :D can't wait!!!
Thanks Kim
KimberlyBarnett123 glad to hear its coming along nicely :)
I like the New Holland Agriculture sign on you jacket, it looks if you still have some kind of like to NH, that's awesome
I just kinda figured it wouldn't move, because it was in multiple gears.... Since shifter cables and such were disconnected....

This should be an interesting fix. What a bizarre and pain in the ass little tractor to work on.
Gotta ask... was it Deere Country in Allentown? Should have taken it to the boys in Myerstown... just a little further, and well worth the drive. Well, you know... you go there!!
been waiting for the teardown, sure would of liked to see the problem in this video
Eggcelent! I hope you have a nice trip! have a blast.. PACK SUNSCREEN! you know what happened the last time!
Did you ever think about getting a waste oil furnace
Now you know why they wanted $12,000 to fix it! That's quite a tear down.
Even though those $12k isn't just for the work, it's still too much for that POS.
$12K sounds reasonable. $4K for the repairs and $8K for the MBAs, like everything else these days. lol
Well done wes you have good skills so some people get jealous then try to put you down well done and take care alan from england :)
can you do a cold start on the 4430

What was the secret?!

so what was the secret you were about to tell us?
its a secret
We're not telling, so there! lol
How does one learn all of this stuff? He seems to really be a intelligent guy...
On that new holland coat is that a John Deere pulling the big square bailer or is that just me????
I like the new music lol
Are you charging Tim for the schoolin he is gettin?
that dam tractors god some problems alright
Deere Country probably didnt want to find the problem. They wanted 12000 to throw a new transmission in it. Parts changers, not mechanics
They sure don't make things easy trying to fix tractors.
i see why the shop quoted $12000, $2000 in parts and $10000 in labor lol
I sure hope you finish this series before you take off out of the Country...
what kind of spiders do you have up there? At 2:03 I see the spider noose blowing in the wind. Guess they forget the web and work to hang their victims.
oil as been buried underground for millions of years. why worry.
need more
......hmmmm?...the error of their ways.....funny how large amounts of money and subs watching on you tube can change their ways......have a good trip.....see ya in 20......
