I saw and heard Rigoletto with her and Leo Nucci in Orange in 2017, she was amazing.I like very much her voice, in Don Pasquale in Paris last June she was also perfect.
Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today. She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. On August 24th, 2018, her debut album, There’s a Place for Us, was released under the Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music labels.
I saw Ms Sierra in Paris as Norina in Don Pasquale recently and she was superb. She performs with incredible craft and the voice seems to produce a wonderfully easy coloratura sound. I think her voice is now maturing and darkening and I would love to hear her in some of Verdi’s other wonderful roles for soprano: Desdemona and Amelia Grimaldi for starters. Here she displays virtuoso control with the breath in maintaining the legato line in long phrases that go in and out of the stratosphere! She’s a great ambassador for opera and I enjoy following her in Instagram! Come to London SOON .... please.
Fun fact I saw Nadine sierra perform this aria at the Met when I was 12. In the middle of the aria I realized I was attracted to women for the first time. Nadine Sierra was my first crush.
The voice is lovely..... I'd prefer her to perform the rests Verdi indicates in the score....for example ....all through the first phrase......and consequently express more of the breathless, excited teenager that I'm guessing the composer intended... 😎
@Nicole Ryan As an actor, I understand that revisiting roles (as I get older ) I bring different things to the table. However, if the role is of a teenager, I can't play him as 45.....lol (Not that I'd be cast as a teenager anymore 😁😁😁) We encounter this issue in Opera often....but if a woman (or a man) "of a certain age " plays a Young character, I as an audience member expect them to bring a youthful energy. It's like a 60 year old mezzo singing Cherubino....lololol
😅😂😂 her vocal chords is wild 😜 no problem to lay down n sing high octaves she must have thought of her Rigoletto in real life on the bench , did she ???
This is crazy! I got tears in my eyes a few seconds into her performance and they’re still there! Incredible that a human voice is capable of this.
Doing the last cadenza while lying down, and executing some of it with a piano dynamic is actually quite impressive. Respect.
Gorgeous!!! She is amazing!!!

Juanita Banana.
Fabulous singing, terrible Italian vowels. There is no Awwww vowel in Italian. Listen to Pavarotti for a minute or two please.
Range, control, and phrasing far outweigh linguistic critique, eh?
