Nice groove. 😂 This is actually pretty accurate. However, we never liked the Jesus-is-co-pilot thing (shouldn't He be the Pilot?) and I never was a Lecrae listener. This is a mere snapshot of some homeschoolers, but a lovely one. Our family's experience was completely different. My kid unschooled and dual enrolled at a local university in 8th grade. And, as she grew older, she had autonomy in choosing what she studied, what music she listened to and what books she read. The beauty of homeschooling is parents can teach their children as they wish. Simply put, homeschooling gives parents the FREEDOM to decide how to school their children..... and, there's a gazillion options out there......
Funny, and mostly accurate. But, for some homeschoolers there were joint activities and classes with other homeschoolers, and many got to play on sports teams. Some even took classes at local community colleges, earning college credits while taking the classes for High School (some graduating H.S. with 30 college credits).
I’m an 8th grader and I’m doing12th grade work. I’m homeschooled and since having done it from kindergarten I can confirm that 1: all these things are true, 2: it works!
What is both eerie & awesome about this song (& comparing with the comments) is that while there is a LOT of variation, particularly in when school started, and whether or not all-day pjs were a thing, and the presence or absence of homeschool co-ops...this song is still pretty accurate - a rarity for a subculture (speaking as a proud homeschool alumni) that has trouble finding experiences they identify with reflected in media. It's interesting that while every family runs things differently, and there's no such thing as a "standard" homeschool family...there's still an enormous amount of common ground & shared experience.
