Devastated endeavour is finishing ,it was a cut above all other murder mystery shows , great twists some great choral and opera to booth and the characters ,really thought morse and Joan would end up together ,but british drama is not Hollywood thank god ,that's why it so good all British drama like our Irish dramas ate above Hollywood despite the meter funding ,well done to all involved ,what u bringing to us next SOON ,please

That's true. Morse did ask Joan to marry him, but she had been thown out of the flat in Leamington by her former married man and was pregnant to boot. She was certainly not ready to make that kind of decision. Jim always called her Joanie while formal Morse never stopped calling her Miss Thursday.

We watched this series from the start. So sad to release that it's all over. Australia loved it too.
I want to see series 9 of Endeavour. But I am sad that it will have ended at the finish of episode 3. I love Endeavour as much as I loved watching Inspector Morse. But having to say Goodbye to such beloved characters is a bittersweet experience.

Great show and tremendous actors! Did anyone else get startled when they panned a couple of times to the cameraman? He looked to me like the older Morse aka John Thaw! I know that’s not possible since he passed away in 2002 but it make me look twice…

A good ending for Jim and Joan. She could never end up with Morse, and we knew this. Endeavour’s road to the Remorseful Day has to be a solo one. Not turning up at the wedding of his two best and only friends is classic Morse. His future is to become a miserable old sod… Alone. Except for loyal Lewis who we will not meet in this series.
i know that morse lives his life alone but they could have given joan and morse a try as a couple at least. this wedding storyline was just shit because ive never found joan and strange belivable as a couple. i feel that the final ep should have been more like the remorseful day with fred or joan being killed off or better yet both of them. i think this whole bloody storyline is there because there wasnt much known about strange in the old show apart from the fact he was morse's chief super in the future. they should married joan off to someone who wasnt a copper someone she met on secondment in series 7 and have her elope with him because i've always imagined joan doing just that.
@@peterburke3944 Me too actually. The irony is that Joan wound up with a man very like her dad. He’s a cop, an organization man. She ran away from home because she didn’t want to end up like her mother, and here she is, marrying a copper. Jim is a good guy but he was the safe choice. Maybe Joan has just grown up and gotten the wild child out of her system. It is a good way to underscore Morse’s core personality-ultimately he lets people down because his pain makes him shut himself off from human connection.

if it helps i doubt very much joan and jims marriage lasted long after series 9 i reckon joan divorced strange after finding out the real reason for the move to kidlington or she got killed by those bikers that were after sam and fred
Morse couldn’t have given Joan what she needed. She’d put herself in his way so many times, and he’d kept her at arm’s length for so long. Whatever his reasons for that, he’d waited too long.

I don't 11:16 like Strange at all!! He is a bully, he is they tradicional policeman who treats gangsters badly, abuses on them justo as Joan's father did. I love Morse, he is intelligent, kind, and he really loved Joan

Y creo q Endevour se suicida de un tiro. Lo digo porque ví un trailer donde lo muestran muestran el revolver en su mano, él está solo, y luego muestran el parque donde está y se escucha un tiro. Después sale el tráiler del matrimonio .

Joan is a very remarkable, resourceful woman. Without braking even a letter of her marital vows she manages to get herself every night a bit of Strange. 😜😁😁

I've watched this episode countless times, and correct me if I'm wrong, but we didn't actually see Jim and Joan exchange vows in the episode. Or did I miss something?

I think I'll have to wait 2 years to be able to watch series 9, the last one. Actually I already feel sad for this, the last one, because Endeavour Morse character has entered myself, sometimes shy but very determined, self-confident and smart, predictable but also unpredictable as a man in his relationships with women - he did nothing to keep his only true love. E.Morse has been a sort of appointment to me, a good detective story to be seen once a week, in the evening, after dinner, spending 2 hour time relaxing in a pleasant and interesting way. Here, in my country, I've just enjoyed series 7. Next year, in autumn, it'll be on series 8. I hope to read news about the main actor, Shaun Evans, whom I appreciate so much, also as a director of some episodes. Ok, farewell Endeavour Morse!

I wish I could watch the final episode again, but I guess the network has forced them to be stripped off of UA-cam. I'm just stumped at the fact that the conclusion of Endeavour doesn't really illuminate the DCI Morse relationship with Strange in Inspector Morse (IM). I IM there was scant reason you guess or question the background story of Strange and Morse. Colleagues for some years. Sure. But not the background with such deep waters that Endeavour shows us.

On one level, I don't mind that Joan said "Yes" to Strange. He's a decent bloke and she has a good head on her shoulders. Blah, blah, blah. I think the writer/s unintentionally screw the Mr/Mrs Strange story when they suggest that DCI Thursday and his family will have to live very quiet and isolated lives, on the run even, because the motorcycle gang will figure out that Thursday killed their boy. But, assuming that they are smart enough to attempt to hunt down the Thursday family, aren't we forced to consider that the are smart enough to read the newspaper announcements of the Strange/Thursday wedding? That would mean that Strange would have to keep Joan in the basement living like a troglodyte. No, sorry. Unless, I am very sorely mistaken, there is nothing in the Inspector Morse series that suggests that Strange every had any existential angst about his marriage or his wife.
yeah i'm pretty sure the marriage didnt last long after the last ep im pretty certain joan divorced strange at some point and moved to carshall with the other thursdays and moved again to keep safe
@@peterburke3944 Thx. That's a good hypothesis about the future of Mr+Mrs Strange. I do not have and encyclopedic memory about anything; but I do not recall ever seeing Mrs Strange or hearing her first name mentioned in the Insp Morese series. Yours is a very good solution to that.
@@peterburke3944 I can't remember for the life of me, but there was an episode of Insp Morse where he investigates the murder of a man whose widow rejected Morse's marriage proposal back when (I think) he was still at Oxford. The woman loved him; but her father thought Morse was socially beneath them and without prospects. Well, of course Morse solves the case and the woman decides to leave to go to America. I do remember that her brother is an eccentric who owns a tame broncing horse machine at this house. Interestingly, he states that he always liked Morse and thought it was a shame that Morse and his sister did not marry.
I mention this to say that I felt that this seemingly important episode in Morse's life, explored in part in Insp Morse, was not touched on at all in the Endeavour series....at all to my memory. Why not? Who knows.

I did like the ending; however, you said, electrocution lessons instead of elocution letters. Shame on you and the writers. I will miss morse & Thursday.
