I lived in Quebec Drive, Westwood from 1959 - 1963 when we immigrated to Australia. This is amazing to watch!!! Love it all!!!

My family moved here from the Gorbals in the 50’s. My dad loved it and I’ve heard lots of stories including about the local Teddy Boys.

Amazing! Friends in Canada just showed me this. I lived in Threshold Park, just off Lindsay Road which is shown here. My best school friend lived in the very first house of the new town in Lindsay Road. I have lived in Sydney, Australia since 1971 and EK does seem to have downgraded a bit since it was all sparkling new. They even knocked down my school, Duncanrig, a couple of years back. I stood in its foundations before it was built.

It's funny how many people came from here and moved away to Canada or Australia etc. I moved in 74 and don't regret it.

EK wasn't utopia but it was better than living in a one bedroom tenement flat in Rutherglen sharing a toilet with three families. We moved to Murray 7 in July 1957 and I lived there until 1969. I have many happy memories of the town and its people. I enjoy returning to visit my family and friends, many of whom chose to stay in EK.

Love this film. Thank you Strathclyde Council(or whatever!) then South Lanarkshire Council for screwing up this town for money that you probably don't have any more!!!! When it was EKDC it was perfect.. you stayed in the wee town... paid your taxes and did well..... and now ? Sorry 70's-80's child.

east Kilbride was built as a new town - mainly for the Glasgow overspill- it provided good houses & jobs for families -many of whom were living in single ends with no prospects - the idea thjs was Nazi is laughable
