This was filmed four years before my Dad got a job in EK and we moved into a brand new house in Greenhills in Sept 1974. The views reminded me of what it looked like back then and it was quite a change for us to move there from a tenement in Govanhill, Glasgow. My poor mum in particular found it a huge culture shock, moving away from where she'd spent her life, friends and family to a house with a back and front door and two children out at school. We lived there until 1980, when my Dad had to move again due to work. Most of the green spaces of our few years there are now housing schemes. Quirky wee film, thanks!
Motorola no more, Rolls Royce no more, Satchwell no more, STC no more, and so it goes on. I move to EK 63 years ago and like me it was growing. Now as I age so does the town. I know that the future does not look good for the both of us. What will it be like in 50 years time? I will be gone but what will my grandchildren have in East Kilbride? Local council closing amenities and leisure facilities. I am proud to have grown up in EK but where is it heading?
wow man made in the 60's apparently for the future of living! after cumbernauld what lessons to learn what did it cost? cumbernauld apparently cost 66.5 million in the mid 60's! so what di ek cost? any old footage?.

Great memories but so sad that most of the big companies have all gone from East Kilbride now.
Lived in east Kilbride from1966-1974 I loved it, went back recently for a visit and its changed a lot, this film reminds me of my time there
Lots of rubber boat invaders now, those with No passports.
Engineering is dead in Scotland now, killed off in the late 1980's.
Now it's just supermarkets and shopping malls.😢
The job section in the ek news , there’s a place called STC , my dad worked there even though we stayed in cambuslang.
Ravishing this filmclip.A foreigner in Scotland back in the 1970 was surely seen as an odd fellow. Positive industrial leaps.
This is an absolute gem of footage. I wonder if they kept all the B-roll?
Just as well he didn't ask for a Waldorf salad or a screwdriver...
I visited there in 86. Biggest nightlife was a pub called the Gemini. Is it still there?
Thought of that show when I saw the name 😅
I wonder if he had time to bust someone's ass? Everything's bottomed, as Basil remarked. 😂😂

Alan Bradley seemed a lot nicer then , before he got involved with Rita .
