Same! I get so excited for these videos, I don't know what it is. I enjoy the conversation/dynamic I suppose. Can't wait to go visit my mama this week now!
I declutter regularly so thought I was fine. I’m going through closets again with an upcoming move and am surprised what I find. Even though the house is bigger, why take things you don’t need. Thanks for the encouragement.

I did The Minimalist Game every month in 2021 and then continued on with my own decluttering challenges in 22/23 - and I shared my progress along the way. I discovered that people LOVE seeing what others are decluttering! (I do too!) and the WHY behind letting something go. It's super helpful to others on their decluttering journey. 😊💖
Hi Shannon and cathy… I’ve only recently been watching your videos. Im 71 have five grown children and and 9 grandchildren. As you can imagine over many years I’ve accumulated ‘stuff’ (gifts) from them all. I’ve found it very helpful watching and listening to your mum decluttering sentimental items. I’ve so many, plus my children’s toys, children’s games now vintage I guess, paints pens colouring books reading books, prams pushchairs garages…grandchildren’s toys… all have memories. Toys are now out in the garage in see through boxes… still can’t let them go😢 Going through Christmas baubles and all things Christmassy was hard, but I’ve done it and donated. Since watching your videos I’ve gone through my kitchen cupboards and sorted through some clothes bed linen blankets…but still have too much🙈 I still stand in front my wardrobe and wonder what to wear… some things I’ve had for years and have looked after but they are just not me anymore. Im getting to an age where I don’t want clutter around the house as in ornaments, it takes too long to clean now that I’m older and slower. I have given a lot of things away and also I’m hoping as I continue to watch you both, I’ll feel braver to tackle those sentimental items….and my wardrobe…. and the boxes in a now tidy garage with shelving. A place for everything. Thank you.
It sounds like you are doing an amazing job! Doing a little decluttering here and there goes a long way over time. Keep up the good work and eventually you will see a big difference =)
I throw garage sales so I get a ton of change and dollar bills so when I go to Wal-Mart, I go to the self checkout and pay with all of it so it's not embarrassing lol oh and if you lift the little lid that you would put coins in, you don't have to put one coin in at a time. you can just put a handful in. then you don't lose the 10%. hope this helps someone ❤
LOL!! When my seven kids were little I once took a bag of change to a fast food place.....got us all shakes that day! YUM!! Another good and inspiring video, ladies! Love you two together!
I quit many of the same things over time. Nice to know that we are together in these things! ❤ I love your mother & daughter content. I am not close to my mom and it is nice to see what I had hoped to have but am not so fortunate. It’s cool to experience that closeness through others. I also gave up being so giving gift wise to people. I needed to learn to stop giving so much and investing so much towards certain people. ❤ keep sharing …you are appreciated!
I’m like you Cathy - got rid of all my bathing suits. Not going outside in them. I just wear shorts and top. I do puzzles too. I did frame one that was gorgeous. The rest I just donate. I buy mine at the Dollar Tree. Love this video! Very helpful to see what you find to declutter and the “why” behind it.
Ha ha ha ha!!!! I just got rid of about 20 (or so) swimsuits also! (Size 8 to size 20!) All gone! I'm 3 weeks in now and took 7 boxes of books to a charity shop this morning, along with a pair of trainers, 2 wooden birds and some headscarves. Currently washing some towels to take to the vets next week. I'm finding decluttering wonderfully addictive! Thank you for inspiring me Shannon and Kathy, keep up the good work. Love Goldie X.
I decluttered the same domino game and many puzzles too. I also can go to the beach in shorts and a tank. It's funny to learn of you doing the same. Thanks ladies. ❤
I criticized your plant on the wall behind you a couple months ago and I see now that you’ve changed it, maybe trimmed it, but the macrame and the plant look so much better now. Donna
Thank you Donna, I switched it out. I don't think that wall is a good place for a plant because it doesn't really get much light. I am thinking of doing something different and moving that plant closer to the window. =) I hope you are doing well.
Good morning, Shannon & Kathy!❤ Love you two & hats! 😂 I've have 2 decluttering piles ready to go. And I remember when you said donate BEFORE the elastic gives out in old items! Miss the bloopers!
Loved how you can let go of sentimental baby clothes and carrier knowing the blessing will be paid forward as in the example with your baby swing and high chair :D My declutter ongoing daily list includes: throw pillow covers, storage wire basket & cotton plant basket (brand new but no longer wanted to keep so repurposed as gifts), eyeglasses And from the garage: wire storage rack, old towels, lawn spreader, cube shelving, paint roller & brush (kept trying to use and realized paint application was just not smooth anymore)... P.S. Kathy, I gave up on bathing suits entirely...on our rare trips to water areas I will just wear shorts/skort and rash guard tee. I’m now decluttering every end of season Shannon We are only 3 in our house so it’s easy now to declutter 😀 Love to watch your videos with your mom ❤ Enjoy the weekend and stay safe for hurricane Hillary 🙏
Today I filled in a large container and plastic bag full of stuff to be donated to a developing country. And I honestly thought I couldn't find anything because I've been doing so much decluttering. I really enjoy your videos❤
Love watching you two! Shannon, please tell your mom that she can also use that change at Walmart self checkout or her grocery store. If she goes to the self checkout lane there is usually a slot where she can just put the change in to pay for her groceries.
This is what I do with my kids when they want to buy something with their piggy bank money-- we just make sure we go early in the morning so there won't be a bunch of angry people waiting behind us because it still takes a little while to put all of the change in.
I used to buy workbooks for my kids every summer. I got them to do some, but I don't think we ever fully finished one. They were very happy when they reached high school and I stopped buying them. 😊🐦
My family enjoys puzzles too. When we finish one we usually donate it as well. Our library has recently started offering puzzles for checkout so we take advantage of that too.
I gave away all of my jigsaw puzzles. I just did not have the storage space for them in my home nor the table space to work them. The last puzzle I tried to work on, my cats thought it was a new toy for them so after finding a piece in their water bowl, I knew it was time to let them go (the puzzles, not the cats). I also have lots of coins to redeem. It is my understanding that if you get the payment in an e-gift card, there is no fee! I was saving memory items for my children (both now adults). My daughter wants nothing from her childhood and my son wants to keep everything (much to his wife’s chagrin 😳🙄😉).
Another great video, just love this series.. nice short informative, and we get to know to both of you better and better ❤ I need to go and declutter money too… I have quite a collection.
I am far far far from decluttered--but I'm trying (we are in our 70s and have 51 years of marriage--to declutter. So I counted his short sleeved t-shirts--he had 95--I'm giving a few at a time to other guys who will wear them or need some--he has a ton of jeans--giving some away--we have a large population of homeless in our little Canadian town--so going thru and what is too big or whatever is finding new owners. Can you imagine--95 shirts--and we rarely buy new stuff so we aren't losing much by giving away and hope to bless someone else. But I have a long way to go--eventually we want to sell and move near our kids and grands and now great-grands--on the other side of Canada. Health issues are slowing us both down.
First of all, thanks for the great videos! I have turned 60 2 months agos and also started my declutter journey back then! Its going great, got over 15 boxes full out of our appartment, and still going strong! But i kinda struggle with decluttering the walls lol
I enjoying rolling change but haven't done so in years. Great reminder to check my purse, car console, drawers, etc and wrangle all the loose change. 😅
Funnily enough I'm going to be taking our jar of change to the supermarket, this week, to get rid of it. I might buy a nice treat for dinner off it xxxxxxx
You are so lucky to have such a close relationship with each other. My mom was so mean and hateful, I avoided her. I really enjoy watching your videos.
Great job on decluttering. I always love you both for sharing! I hope you won't get too much rain and wind your way with that storm that's there or coming. Take care!
Thank you! We are on storm watch right now. It has been pouring rain all morning, but we covered everything up in the backyard and we put some sandbags around a door that tends to get water leaking in. Fingers crossed it won't be too bad.
We are having a garage sale in a few weeks, so been cleaning out all the basement cupboards. So satisfying to empty a bin or drawer or cupboard. I can rearrange a few things to better suit our needs and have less stuff out on open shelves getting dusty. Can't wait for the pile of junk, I mean perfectly good treasures, to go to the sale, not coming back in once it goes out. Leftovers will likely go to the dump. goodwill is overflowing so they rarely take anything anymore, especially not after the big community garage sale weekend. The reality of living in a rural area means less places or people to want your leftovers. I enjoy watching. I can't remember the last time I used cash to pay for anything. 🤔 😄
That is great that your using up your change. We bought the papers from the dollar store and rolled them up. Yes I pay in rolls, my kids get so embarrassed.
I love using the change machine at the grocery store. Haha. The ones by me give you an option to do gift card for no fee though so I usually do that. I can’t believe how much stuff you got rid of just this month!
Hello, I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, love , and peace all over the world 🌏. You guys just had an earthquake in your area. Hope all is well. Your mom mentioned the emergency box with very old things. Do you have an emergency kit ?? Would be nice to see a minimalist emergency kit video. I know I'd be the one to over stuff the emergency kit.
Thank you for asking we were fine! I was the only one who felt the earthquake in our home. It was very odd to have a hurricane and an earthquake on the same day!
I love how your mom chucked that swim skirt with gusto! What do you do with broken tripod and parts of an appliance you don't need? Do you trash them? I have a hard time doing that.
I remember for awhile there stores were having issues getting change, so they would have LOVED someone paying with those bags of coins ! Also I think if you choose a Starbucks card ( if you like them that is ) you don't have to pay the 10% .. At least it used to be like that.. And those puzzles in the gold boxes sell for a decent amount on Ebay.
I love you two together. I swear you need another channel of you and mom organizing homes/rooms for others. You play off each other for deciding to keep or let go & the humor, it would be a fun channel. Yup, need those baby clothes in case of emergency! Ha ha The puzzles, I can't do them either, it may be calming for some but it causes anxiety for me. I have to do things that can finish at one time. And....I have cats, trying doing puzzles with cats trying to help. Jars of coins, we're all guilty. Actually of all the channels I've seen on organizing, yours is the only one that's ever mentioned them. I have a few nice liquor bottles to sort them into. Did you know only dimes fit in a Chambord liquor bottle; it's a pretty bottle, round base. I have Nickles in a Patron tequila bottle, square bottom.

I saw a video on Instagram where you can put in your coins when paying at an automatic check out register in the grocery store but instead of just paying you say I want it back (refund) and it gives you back a bill for your change so you don’t have to pay the 10% to have it changed 😅 maybe it will work for you too
Hahaha I'm moving soon and I just rolled all my coins, took them to any bank and got bills instead. I had the time to roll them myself. I also decluttered our big coin jar and we'll use a smaller one so I do it more often. I think it's unfortunate that most banks wont exchange international coins, only bills. It feels weird to donate actual money, but I don't think I need Thai Baht anytime soon.
I love the idea to have a smaller jar! We also have international money sitting around from NZ and AUS. Maybe one day we will go back and use it, but I agree it's a hassle. =)
You two ❣️Got a new pile going yesterday a bit of each of what you two have especially the puzzles and change 🤭oh and that one bathing suit bottom with the pull string on side what we’re we thinking lol😳still stuck on some things slow but sure with watching you two it’ll be easier and more fun lolol❗️Love your moms time capsule ie emergency tote too funny ! We’ll I hope the storms don’t affect you was thinking of you and your families truly worried all the strength and love sent your way hope all passes quickly and doesn’t affect you all ! Thanks for the helpful and funny vid love you two funny as heck together 💯❣️🇨🇦
Omg...bathing suits UGHHH. I finally gave up and I wear 2 piece. But because I'm almost 58 years old and do not Have a body for a 2 piece. I wear a cover up and I wear it in the water and everything. It works perfect and the two piece is way more comfortable. The cover up hides everything and I feel way Way better than in a horrible one piece
I recently decluttered my coins by spending them. I even had some wrapped but found ways to spend them. Getting to the bank to exchange them just wasn't going g to happen.
Curious if anyone still changes clothes to do yard work, etc. I feel like I have gotten so casual in my dress, and my outside tasks have gotten so minimized, that I only change if I was wearing a dress or a nicer outfit. BTW-I am an artist and tell myself that I will save shirt x for painting in. But it seems I don't actually change clothes for that, either. I figure a splash of paint or two on my clothing ia juat one more verification that I am a 'working artist'! LOL
I had to laugh when your mom said she just doesn’t put a swimsuit on! I knew what she meant but it could’ve also sounded like she was going nudist 😂 My friend has a Little Free Puzzle Library in her neighborhood. I always pass puzzles along right away because I would never re-do one. We keep small jam jars on the dresser to sort coins by value and then roll them. The post office always seems to be short of change so they’re happy to take them if I don’t want to bank them. I try to leave loose change in tip jars when I’m out.
Our bank has a change counter- free to use and quick! No rolling needed!
I love watching you and your Mom together, Shannon. So fun! ♥♥

Way to go! You can do it! 💕💪
It’s a never ending battle with stuff! I feel like half my house could be gone and I’d never notice it.
I like when you explain the "why", otherwise I find myself rationalizing why you should keep it.

I love you two together. I swear you need another channel of you and mom organizing homes/rooms for others. You play off each other for deciding to keep or let go & the humor, it would be a fun channel.
Yup, need those baby clothes in case of emergency! Ha ha
The puzzles, I can't do them either, it may be calming for some but it causes anxiety for me.
Both are so beautiful ma sha Allah❤
Take your money to your bank..they give you back the amount that was in the bags and don't charge a fee.
I'm hearing the song in my head.
Kathy - Lands End has great suits if you want to get one.
I love those puzzles, Kathy! It's a hobby of mine. Great video, ladies! ❤
Hello, I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, love , and peace all over the world 🌏. I would love us to be good friends in honesty and in trust so as time goes on it will bring something great for us in the future, hope you don't mind? I'm Thomas Gabriel from Brooklyn New York, where are you from if I may ask??❤
Yes! Your vdos spice up my Sunday ❤
Yay! Thank you!
Wow ladies that was a lot good job❤
❤️ video. Love, love, love your mother
Kathy, it sounds like you go commando….”I don’t even put one (swimsuit) on.” 😀
Omg...bathing suits UGHHH.
That is a really good idea! One piece swimsuits are really hard to get on and off.
i enjoy these videos so much! 💕 you two are great & i always get to laughing when you guys do!
Do you find you have fewer migraines with less clutter too?
Love decluttering! Why not pandemic?
Take your coins to your bank. They will take your coins and most have the "machine". You will not lose 10%. Just a suggestion.
You can put your change into the machine at the grocery store and get an Amazon gift card…if you get a gift card then you don’t pay the percentage 😊
LOL
Your bank might have a free machine!
We can take our change to our bank and then it gets paid into our bank account.
❤
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey you two, I thought the hat looked great on Mom!
Your bank may have a machine. Mine does.
We will have to check that, thank you for letting me know =)
