I worked in a VW repair shop in the 70s. None of the guys wanted these 1600 engines. The smaller engine was more dependable and much easier to work on. The owner of the shop had a standard beetle that he converted to 12V. Ran great.
the paint bubble behind the rear vent is a larger issue then you might think. the foam on the inside of the metal (behind the vent) is sandwiched between an outer and inner piece of metal, there is foam in there that collects moisture and rusts from the inside out, whoever restored it should have removed the foam from the inside of the metal before repainting it....
No offense but that’s not correct. The beetle still met emissions and safety standards. Sharply declining sales from the mid 1970s thanks for increasingly modern competition and a rapidly increasing price thanks to a very unfavorable $ vs DM exchange rate is what caused vw to withdraw it from the USA market.
We owned a ‘75 Beetle bought new... Fun car, but not all all that collectible. Pre-73 is where the better ones begin, my Beetle preference is ‘62-‘66 which we had many in our household in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s...
Pat Garvey sir... I would like to challenge you to a chrome cleaning contest...😁. I assure you. #0000 Steel Wool + WD40 or glass cleaner will top any commercial chrome polish. Only acid will do a better job. Just an FYI...
That paint bubble by that little vent near that back side window is from water getting inside and basically it’s rusting from the inside out, usually why I don’t want anything later then 1970!
Sorry buddy, you are wrong on this one. #0000 steel wool with a little lubrication is the oldest trick in the book for chrome. (Never aluminum or stainless obviously). Thanks for the view.
I got one in better shape then this one. I went to an Auction and got one in real good shape for $5,000. No broken steering wheel or chipped dash no rust. I never buy a car from somebody that won't give a price.
Buy low, sell high. That is all these flippers do. You'll never get the price the flipper paid for the vehicle or you would feel like a idiot for paying more.

Known as killer foam.
Fun car, agreed! The Beetle has always been my favorite compact! The EPA and Nadar spoiled our fun by taking it away from us at the end of the 70's.

My uncle's first car was a orange beetle convertible and he used to deliver pizzas in it. Haha
Fusca lindo, um belo exemplar, ,,top
Just a quick question what was the price on the orange bug I’m interested in buying one of those

If you ever owned or drove a bug it was true love!
You keep referring to "stainless" trim. It's all aluminum. And steel wool will only damage chromed parts more. Just to help.

Not a bad price. You couldn’t restore one for that amount. Nice car, not sure on the Fuel Injection though.

In the end, becoming a "fuelie" didn't save the Bug from being banned in the U.S. :-(

Not German. Blah.
Yes it is.
For sure not a 75 beetle and not a 1303.
Shame for the whole video.
👎👎👎
It is a 75. And it’s a standard beetle (sedan 111) not a 1303/super beetle/sedan 113.
🤔🤔🤭 paint job is crap 💩
very well thought out and intelligent comment
How much?
14Gs.
