I hope these do well and Atlus realizes they can easily bring some other RPGs from the DS/3DS back. Would be strange if they didn't, but ah well I'm excited for this journey.
They should bring Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology, Persona Q & Q2, etc to Switch & PC (plus other consoles for more profit)

@@Loner098 The 3DS version is better imo. The artwork for the character portraits was changed from the DS version and they added voice acting into the 3ds version

Finally the day has come! Can't wait to start the games later today. Hopefully with these remakes/ports we can see a new Etrian Odyssey come to the Switch!
according to what Atlus is planning they are going to make a part 7
@@flatcapman I'm definitely hopeful for a new entry. Would make sense to release these remakes first and get feedback on how the mapping system works and see if there is interest in the product or not.
@@DigitalZed I agree on that but rest assure mate the games make Atlus serious money and have done for years. The mapping system is a vast improvement over past dungeon crawlers despite the fact they have sold well since the Amiga 500 days

@Leny1777 picnic mode and auto mapping are massive quality of life. I wouldn't buy the collection as it's too expensive after buying 1 $40 game, which the preorder bonus for 2 character portraits is nice. You'll also be in these dungeons for a long time, with even basic difficulty one shotting some people, which I like picnic.
I wish they explained auto mapping to mean you have to put landmarks (sometimes treasures and doors outside the floor), which is fun. It sucked constantly mapping the boring walls and floors in the original games.

My copy is on the way from Hong Kong. Asia ships to the West now. It's crazy.
I would also really like a physical copy of this one... but I don't know if it would play in English, and I'm definitely not confident enough to just. go for it 😢
@@henryjekyll726 if you go to play asia, the Asian version they're selling has English and not Japanese. If you avoid Japanese copies of the game, you'll be good. Their shop says which games are in English. I think they have it cheaper right now than the eShop.
play asia has the asian version with english. Dont get the japanese version get the ASIAN version if you want english.
I love etrian odyssey, so I'm so excited to be able to play these on switch! I only wish they would put Millennium Girl on it so I have an excuse to play it again lol
Granted, I missed the first one and jumped straight into the second. But looking back that was fortuitous as then I could play it with an added story to enrich the experience. The Fafnir Knight one though, that proved less than meeting expectations added content-wise.
Can't wait to play this later today! I always wanted to play the first 3 games, I'm super excited! 😁
I'd love to try these games out, but £35 each for individual downloads/£80 for the bundle for a series of older games that originally launched at £30 for an actual physical copy... that's ridiculous.
how is that any worse then 300 dollars for the Final Fantasy collection? And for what? Not even any ambios for it. People would pay insane prices for a collection of those
@@flatcapman that's for a physical collector's edition. Sure that's overpriced, but you can very easily ignore the collector's edition and just get the games themselves for £7-£15 per game.
In this case the base digital games with no bells or whistles is what's overpriced, not the version that's for psycho collectors only.

I am in complete shock. Was not expecting this one bit. I loved playing this series back on the 3DS even though I had no idea what I was doing back then. I cant wait to hop back into this series again. After I finsieh playing Harvstella.
I vaguely remember trying out the demo to one of the Etrian Odyssey games before on my 3DS and I was actually pleasantly surprised. I think it was either 3 or 4 I played because I remember the priest from 3 vividly. I also remember they talked a great deal about Yggdrasil, the giant tree that you could not access in the demo but you could go around the smaller forests and dungeons for a bit.
I think that was 3. The demo caught on pretty early in the 3DS's lifespan if I remember right.
@@tracyblanchard7663 thank you. I think that demo was also around the time that Kingdom Hearts 3D was also put on to the demo list. I had that, EO3, EO4, and Resident Evil Revelations 1 on my 3DS. I got bummed out after I ran out of uses for the demos but I had fun playing them all regardless.
It was 4, cause 3 was only on DS while 4 was when the series got into 3ds with the mazes on world map but the labyrinth was not available for the demo.
I got em all, except 3. First 2 games are inferior to the Untold. I'll still get em anyways
I first discovered and played Etrian on EO5's demo when I got my 2DSXL (my first ever DS) back in 2018. I wish I had vidya games growing up smh

I really gotta wonder how they decide to balance it, and if they'll use any of the changes from the Untold games, especially for 1's loot drop rates. I'm most concerned whether they adjusted 3 at all for... a certain stratum >_>

From Playasia the asian version is physical and have english, price is 69$ i think.

They don’t have any physical copies of the game I was looking for.
All they got was a digital Steam code for the game and that’s it.😔
Just wish Dangan Entertainment and Moonsprout Games would just distribute their own physical copies.

I have waited for this game to come to the switch since the switch was announced. I am truly grateful that the team at Sega/Atlus even considered this game...

Advice wanted - if one was considering getting just one of these three games, which is the best one to get?
The first one if you want to understand the lore of the entire franchise. The second one is hard to recommend as a first game to try 'cause you need to play the first one to fully understand certain events that happen in the story but in terms of gameplay it has huge improvements compared to the first one (and some of those improvements were given to the first game in this remaster). The third one is considered to be the best of the original trilogy gameplay-wise and its lore is slightly detached from the first two games so it can be fully appreciated without having played the others.
III is the hardest of them, so definitely not that. I'd say just start with I, since even though II improves on the gameplay it's best to start at the beginning and work your way up.

I am so confused as to how these games will work without the duel screen and the touchpad. I loved these on the ds/3ds but I think I might wait to see how they play before buying this time.
Apparently you either use your finger on handheld mode or use the joystick. Either way you need to pause the game to draw the map
I wonder if they'll port Persona Q2 on switch next since it has the same style as Etrian odyssey

Any EO fans out there, is this worth the $80?
If you've never played an EO game, no.
I started with 4 on the 3DS through the demo and loved it. If you like hard JRPGs with a good soundtrack, good art, and cartography (the map-making is actually pretty carthatic,) you'll enjoy it. There may be times where you have to grind a bit, but it's a rewarding experience when you get a good party together and succeed through the labyrinth.
If you can try it before you buy, that's ideal here.
EO3 alone is 200 bucks. So...yeah.

Now if only Chrono Trigger can get a remaster, the 3 2d Tales Series games can get a collection like the mana series, and Wind Waker and Twilight Princess can get Switch ports.
I have no faith in Square to do a good job remaking or remastering Chrono Trigger after their numerous awful jobs in the past.

@@kish45 The Pixel Remasters are awful. The spritework is amateurish and rushed, and it just looks awful compared to the original and past versions of the games. FFX HD is fine, but it has really strange lighting and model differences that make the original look better in places.
@@Jordan3DS But unlike the originals these can be played on the go something that the originals can’t do. Plus FFX remaster includes all the hidden stuff and bosses not included in the original na version.

I am so happy this series can finally become free from the ds family. I remember they said it wasnt possible because of the dual screens and im really glad that wasnt actually true. I can finally play on the big screen! hopefully we get 4,5,6 too!
it was never true. but the funny thing is, the hardcore fans said it was because of the screens that made the games so unique. now they're the same one's excited to buy em again

Turn based RPGs in a nutshell
Can they please port Persona Q and Q2 to the Switch already? They're basically Etrian Odyssey with a Persona skin, but they're great fan service for Persona fans and since P3, 4, and 5 can be found in pretty much every console, including the Switch, a lot of new Persona fans might be interested in the those games.
Now if only they'd remaster Quest64...

No, it's a dungeon crawler, you explore a hand-crafted labyrinth (and make your own map of it) where you fight monsters and investigate your surroundings to grow more powerful and be able to explore deeper into the maze

The series is absolutely fantastic, you should definitely give it a shot! Some of the best music ever composed, and mapping out the labyrinth by hand is incredibly addictive!

Aight the only dungeon crawlers like this I've played are the first few smt games and i didn't really like any of them. Can't tell if i don't like the genre or if i just don't like smt, should i give this a shot or no?
As someone who has beaten every mainline SMT and Etrian Odyssey game, EO blows SMT I and II out of the water. You'll definitely enjoy these games much more.
I think this will bomb with sales, and God I hope not, because I want a new one on the Switch. I’m a huge fan and I ain’t touching this at the price they gave.
