      Ima tell you brother, pulling the trigger on a sport bike is the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve been riding for a total of 3 weeks. (Long time I know) but dude. You feel so free on the bike. It gives you a whole new perspective. And the community is very supportive.

    How do you lock in the tank on a supermoto? i still dont know...

    • @FUCKYEApeople
      @FUCKYEApeople 2 роки тому +6

      Actually, you don't. You are just hanging with your knee from tank/saddle, at least that's how it feels like. Best way to feel it safely - try to knee down one of that small SuMo style pitbikes. You won't have many questions left afterwards ;-)

      The dirt boots are always what seemed to bite the most to me. They are chunkier and really just help grip the side of the bike.

      If your not going to try Hanging off on a Supermoto you just don't have to lock your legs on the Tank.
      If you wanna go fast on a supermoto you're going to ride it in supermoto style, witch means to put your eggs on the tank and push the Bike down.

    Hi Mike,
    Broke the bone that protrudes on the outside of your ankle...
    Coming from 35 years of riding and a few years of track riding road machines like FZs, R6s and R1s. But I am no expert on supermoto. Also, I would expect that requirements for equipment between motocross and supermoto are not exactly the same.
    The bone is the fibula. The fracture occurred when at low speed in a very tight turn, I lost it during supermoto. My foot was wedged between the bike and the pavement. The protruding bone at the ankle dribbled with the bike weight over the pavement. I felt the crack. I was in full gear but wearing sports bike boots. These did not offer the right protection for this type of situation. Apart from a plastic outer shell the impact point included almost no cushioning.
    But here is (partly) what went wrong. At times, my sports bike boots were offering too much grip on the pavement when extending my foot forward in the corners. The solution was to bend my leg more. It caught and got wedged when I lost the front while leaning in too much.
    Would motocross boots have offered greater protection in this case? Would they have offered less grip or otherwise more means to slide the sole over the pavement?
    I can imagine that boots used for supermoto would benefit from grip on the pegs, while also wear resistance and replaceable slide patches made from soft metal or nylon at the sole.
    Any advice? What boots might have offered more protection and better permit to slide the sole over pavement?

    Not sure I completely agree. But I'll give it a shot on my ride home tonight. Update not hard to mover on the bike much at all on my heels although I always ride with boots on so I lock my foot peg in-between the heel and toe until cornering then I move slightly towards the toe.

  • @AudreyH48
    @AudreyH48 2 роки тому +7

    I practice the same inner foot but the more heal outside foot style. I feel more locked in that way. I also really like the foot twist to lock in too. But be careful and make sure your bike has enough clearance from the chain and exhaust before twisting the foot in.

    • @atiroocky

      MotoGP riders do same. I used to be on ball feet and tried to lock heel on outside foot for track days. It takes way less effort to hook the bike on corners. Very appreciate to save energy, particularly on physical liter bikes.

    On the track on the straights and when I accelerate on the road and move my body back and get fully tucked, I have my feet on the heels so I can be steady when changing gears. And also to have traction to not move back and pull the handlebars, or else I get wobbly. On the corners inside foot like the second example and outside foot on heel, except if there is a next corner coming in the other direction. On daily commute same thing, but feet more backwards on the straight like on the second example.

      I rode BMX and motocross for 15 years before I ever got on a street bike, anything other than balls of feet is unnatural to me. I've never ridden any motorcycle with the peg anywhere farther back than that, and there's no advantage to it anyway. You're only in control on the balls of your feet.

    • @konstantinos777

    If you dont know that you have to move your feet up in the turn dont ride a bike. On the other hand if you ride like that all the time in the traffic I will beat you with a pole. You are not gonna be ready with the controls in fact you will most likely miss them when you have to act fast. Also good luck holding your legs on the pegs when you get a wobble. Video is good but it should have stated that this is only for the track when you have turn after turn while working your weight around.

  • @quatron---
    @quatron--- 2 роки тому +2

    Ok video but for normal tour riding i disagree. I (and a lot of ppl) angle our feet a bit to the side so its next to the shifter/break lever. Yes on a hardcore supersport u can run into issues in corners, but basically every other bike its fine. Its a more relaxed position so for longer tours preferable.

    • @Dangerwiggles
      @Dangerwiggles 2 роки тому

      I feel like in an emergency situation like loss of traction or slippage that foot position is not as helpful. When it comes to needing to weight the pegs into a slide if your toes are next to the controls you may accidentally jam on the brake or gear shift which would make the situation even worse. People also argue that it keeps your toes closer to the controls which can help with quick action in am event like someone pulling out in front of you... But I feel like once you have practice and are seasoned you don't need to do that, you are quick enough to move your feet up for any situation. If you read that and think "sure when you're seasoned! But it could save a newbies life!" A new rider will never learn or build proper habits if they don't use proper technique.

    • @quatron---
      @quatron--- 2 роки тому

      @@Dangerwiggles The technique i described gets tought at pretty much every motorcycle driving school here. What i seen on here the way usa teaches motorcycle driving is incredibly lacking compared what we have to do to be allowed on the road though. We get many more hours in the seat to get our license.
