- Our Retail Brand Manager Clare has upped the number of Harley-Davidson's at the Shed by 100%. After travelling across California on a Sportster Clare knew what bike she had to buy after she got back to the UK.
The Sportster has a few modifications including swapping out the Vance & Hines pipes for Kuryakyn Crusher Mavericks. As well as a Kuryakyn Mach 2 Air Filter, and has been ridden to Europe, as well as making a few appearances at Camp VC.
Custom Sissy Bar: - / stevenedwardrichie

Love that smile when she starts the bike! I used to hate on Harley’s until I actually rode one, and what a terrible gear box! Besides that, it was such a raw riding experience.. I was hooked and soon thereafter I went and bought one for myself! 😋
Beautiful bike, beautiful sound also. It amazes me the amount of people telling others what to ride and how they should customize their bike. Don't like it? Buy your own and do what you want to it.
Thank you, I love this bike and the sound it makes : )
Beautiful bike. As a Bay Area resident I salute your decision to ride HWY-1 from SF to LA. Anyone visiting California should beg, borrow and steal an opportunity to do the same, even in a rental car. Happy New Year!
thepassionofthegoose I’ll be doing this later this year.
Dubbelju Motorcycle Rentals in SF is what most people I know use when visiting. They're reasonably priced and have a good selection of bikes. I'm in no way affiliated with them, but I have had several friends have good experiences which is why I recommend them. Lastly, make sure HWY-1 is open all the way, especially south of Big Sur. Frequent mudslides cause closures that aren't trip ending, but can be problematic.
Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely keep that in mind.
@@KiloCharlieOne Yeah, I reccommend dubbelju. SF is a pretty dirty, hilly, city. ha. But highway 1 was awesome.
Was on the hunt for the perfect first sissy bar for my iron. Ended up getting one last night from Edward! Thanks for the heads up, Bike Shed!
I ride a Rat MotoGuzzi and bought a 74 ci. Sportster a few weeks ago and just cant stop riding it. I just made a video 3 days ago in the cold rain wind blowing trees on the road and loved every minute of the ride. Your bike is perfect.
bob johnson thanks! Just reading through all these lovely comments from everyone. There’s just something about the Sportster.
Beautiful green Clare! Super fun story. Cheers
instablaster...
Beautiful Iron and the exhaust sounds amazing! Love it
Love your joy when you start it! Sissy bar is awesome!!! I gotta get a taller one myself...maybe this maker...hmmmmmm.
Nice! I just picked up a 2011 iron and I love it. I really like that metal flake, though - looks beautiful. Good stuff!
I like what you've done with the bike. Looks really good and sounds wicked
Great looking bike. I'm liking the mods. Well done for riding 15 hours on a sporty...Respect. Enjoy!
Im definitely bringing my custom Sportster down to visit here when its finished. Hopefully next year. Nice bike, i love that paint.
I like how Harley Davidson was using taller rear shocks on the sportsters over in Europe than they were here in the USA. I actually went out and got me some taller, adjustable, shocks for my iron 883. Set them at 12.25” however. 13” was pushing extremes!
If you haven't already gotten a seat spend the money and get a Harley Sundowner. I have ran them on all my Harley's here in Georgia in the US. I live in Atlanta and ride all over the southeast on my Road King and long trips are the order of the day and even at the end of the day my backside could keep going, you can spend more money but you won't get a much better seat for comfort.
Wow! Those pipes do sound fantastic. I thought that the Vance and Hines were great-sounding, although I've only heard the Short shots. I am a big fan of the Sportster and have been for years. Enjoy.
Absolutely gorgeous bike! This is pretty much my dream bike.
Love the video! Glad you had fun in my home state california!!
Nice bike, great colour, and those pipes sound amazing
Thumbs-Up #417 I am, Thursday night 28 February 2019! Your entire video was nice to watch. The way your voice sounds helped a bit. Cool Sportster, keep makin’ it your own. 😀
nice one, those pipes are bit loud for me..they look good but my neighbours wouldnt like em.....those standard sportster seats are pretty much the most comfy i have ever sat on... and i have done a helluva lot o miles on a good few bikes....
The pipes are really bloody loud and I totally love them, the neighbours? Not so much! ....but they are nice neighbours and I’m gone pretty quick! Honesty such a comfy seat, I don’t think I’ll swap it!
Proper mechanic, Behind the blinking owl.
Live the PCH, but have only done it in a car with the fam... will get back there on a bike one day. Nice vid Clare, catch up with you and Jay soon
Views from the Man Cave thank you! See you soon 👍
You had me at PCH (Pacific Coast Highway). I'm not a Harley fan but if I see you riding here on the autobahn I'll give you a friendly wave. Nice bike!
Dig the exhaust ! Thx for sharing.
There is something so cool abput seeimg europeans enjoying American motorcycles!
I grew up on the back of a Harley dyna low rider.
So beautiful!!!!
I regret getting a sportsbike >.
Absolute dream of a bike
I like the more up right seating geometry of the Harley cafe, looks more comfortable.
With a good set of pipes that Harley sound is really stirring!
Very nice
The sound 🔥
I'm surprised the little tank wasnt a problem. Clean nice Bike.
Love how the sissy bar looks on the Sporty!
Would recommend goop in your tyres . No more punctures brilliant stuff
Very cool.
Looks Great =)
The exhaust pipes look better now after modification.
Amazing bike.
I like the sportster cool looking bike. Ideal bike for you.
That does sound good. I’m eyeing up either the 883/1200. I’m a heavy guy at 21stone.
Edward Richie is the man. Have one of his sissy bars on my sporty
Rene Fierro The best!
The Rock Store!
Good rasp from that exhaust - too many Harleys sound flatulent.
Those rear shocks are the best single improvement you can make.
Oh my god..... the fire up....just makes me want it more....who needs savings! role on getting my first HD Ahhhhh! Just have to pay off the car loan first :D:D:D
The only thing I would change to a Harley is nothing. Ok maybe the seat , but not convinced yet.
Can you share a link of where We can buy the exhaust and other parts for the same bike?
Where did you purchase the pipes from?
Kuryakyn - they are the crusher Mavericks 2in 1 system 😁
Why do uk sportys come with the taller shocks in the rear?
Probably because our government never fill pot holes 🤣🤣🤣
Love it!
Top Top Bike sound's Proper Lovely lady respect. Look forward to updates as you progress . But PLEASE remove the sissy bar you don't need it .I know custom made perfect and cool for trips but not for the street. The bike would look sleeker without.Just my opinion.Fantastic review of your fantastic bike very jealous more please perhaps clips of bike adventures?
Dave xjs thank you! I do love that sissy bar though : )
Good bike, Good girl
How long is your rear shock?
Love you so much and iron 883!💪
What exhaust is that? I couldn’t understand it 🤦🏻♂️ sorry!
They are Kuryakn crusher Maverick 2 into 1 system 😊
God, I wish I could have an Iron 883.
Get yourself a Saddlemen step up seat it will change your life 🤘
What passenger seat is that? It's exactly the one I would want.
beautiful woman
As a lady rider, I currently have a 125cc bike and I am doing the test this month. I'm then gonna look at bigger bikes, I've been looking at the Iron 883 but I'm a bit concerned about the weight. Did you have any problems getting used to how heavy this bike is?
abi5m3ll I don’t think the weight would be an issue as it’s quite low down. I’d be more concerned with the clutch. I’ve not ridden the 883 but the bigger ones can really make your hand ache after a days riding. I’d recommend you hire one for the weekend and get some miles chalked up.
@@barbieandbellaadventuresby9134 thanks for the info! Once if sort out my 125cc test and can sort out the big bike stuff I'll have to look into it.
@@abi5m3ll Yeah go for it. In terms of value for money, Harley are very good with their rentals. I think they pretty much subsidise this to attract new business. I'd highly recommend hiring some bikes for the weekend to get a better feel for what you like. Don't rule anything out as you may be surprised. I for one after renting quite a few things would not by a new bike now without a quick shifter, OMG once tried there's no going back! :-) Good luck
abi5m3ll Harley’s are heavier than most but I manage just fine, once you get used to handling the bike you won’t notice. I’m quite tall 5,10” so this is a comfortable ride for me but be sure to check out the super low as well if you are smaller in stature. Good luck with your test!
abi5m3ll also no problems on the clutch! I swapped out the stock grips for something chunkier to make it more comfortable on the wrists.
from where I can buy BACKRESTS
Passenger seat!?
You are sooooooooo gorgeous....😍😍😍💐💐💐
Nice back
How tall is she?
I’m 5’10 :)
is it worth $8k?
Are men welcome at the 'Bike Shed' or is it you personally who do not welcome them?
What a ridiculous question Loki. We don't tolerate insults to our staff, especially for their gender. If you enjoy our videos, please keep these viewpoints to yourself.
lose the reflectors on the forcks
Front tire looks a wee bit low lass!
Not wrong! Was totally flat 😂
Harley people are a little weird... they buy expensive bikes, they "love" it but then they want to replace everything.
Or - ...People buy Harley's knowing they can personalise them, and loads of bike part makers produce quality aftermarket parts,
@@BikeShedMotoCo sure, I get that... but I've seen some dealer reviews where the guy is pointing a bunch of stuff he suggests "updating" on a brand new bike worth 20K...
if you're building a bike from almost bare frame then sure it's great there's so much stuff available. that said I'd get a stock/unmolested knucklehead or panhead any day if they weren't selling for their weight in gold.
Yep we're weird lol but you just can't find as many aftermarket mods for other cruiser brands. This is why I love HD. #iron1200 #HAPPYNEWYEARS
That is the joy of owning a motorcycle, being able to put your own touch on it. It isnt limited to just Harley riders smh
Léo Bellavance my bike wasn’t expensive, I’m not replacing everything, I’m customising it to my personal style, that’s the beauty of the Sportster. Rather be a little weird than just the norm!
Pretty Woman & Pretty Bike :)
Im Building my own I've got a generic trigger Sm 50 it's a supermoto I'm going to strip it and make a cafe racer and do a Engine swap and put a 125 Yamaha ybr Engine into it change it from monoshock and make my own tank, seat, hump and fairing I'm only 17 hence why a 125 :( but anyway this bike is alright but I think it's abit normal it's something I think anyone could get (if they have money) that Harley is still a lovely bike Though
Why don't you wait a year and buy a proper bike? Not to be a dick, but that's gonna cost you way more than it'll be worth, both in effort and in the final performance of the motorcycle.
I've been through that rabbit hole before.
astropapi1 I'm young and I have everything like parts wise I need but I don't have a job or get any money apart from what I save and it does make sense to buy another bike but I don't want something like what I have now its a fast 50cc but it's a Chinese 2t and that's all I could afford and that's nice did you finish your build? A homemade bike always feels better in my opinion I've been on my dad's 250 home made chopper it's got a Honda cm engine and I have been on my brothers ybr bobber dad made and they have a feel my supermoto doesn't I'd love to be able to ride a r6 but I can't
MOTO CLUB DE FARO PORTUGAL!
Maybe.... Get a 1200??
Nice ... don't know about the VC thing though... I think anything 'all women' or 'all men' (though i never heard of an 'all men' event) Is 'all creepy'
Unfortunately Most bike rallies (not all there are a few good exceptions) are all male environments. They are geared up towards entertainment for men solely, the bike community is still a male dominated industry. However there are positive changes. We are not anti men and Its not creepy to have an all women event, it's about empowering women and creating a positive community and a safe space to come together, encourage, support, learn to ride, connect with like minded female riders. At Camp VC we just want to create a space thats a positive experience for women, organised and run by women. There are basic mechanic workshops, ride outs, yoga, wellness, good food, good music, skate ramps, climbing walls, enduro classes, trails riding, dirt biking, live talks and live music. We are just creating our own space to have a good time. Nothing creepy about that.
Holiday with my mechanic hahahaha like going a medical convention with my doc. Keep feeding him £s
I don't agree at all.
Anything that divisive I would think is creepy.
And I would bet that you'd find a higher percentage of misandrists at an all female rally than misogynysts at an all male* rally.(*Something I'm not sure exists)
I have never seen an event advertised as 'men only' , and I think if you are honest, you will admit that you never have either.
It isn't a bike from a shed. It's almost a stock bike. Nothing special.
Nagyon Okos Minde Tudó Béla Úr it’s not claimed to be a shed built bike. It’s a staff bike, that claire actually rides and is a video about her and the reasons why she rides it.
@@BikeShedMotoCo Okay. I'm sorry I'm hurting a hipster ego. Get a real rocker biker attitude and smile. If you get me some angle grinder, sandpaper, matt black spray cans, and a hammer. I happily modify Miss Claire's Harley.
Nope. No hipster egos here. Just correcting your misunderstanding.
Meanwhile please feel free to modify you own bike... Perhaps we'll make a video review, if you, or the bike are interesting enough?
@@BikeShedMotoCo Thanks. But I'm a very boring person and I don't even have a bike. But I'm planning to buy a secondhand bicycle. All the best and be safe.
To all of the bike guys, will I be made fun of for riding a girl's bike if I get one of these? (im 194cm tall)
Loads of guys ride sportsters so don't listen to anyone who says it's a girls bike. Just ride what you enjoy. I'm 5'11 and it's perfect for me. However as you are tall, I think it might be a little too small for you? bets thing to do is take one for a test ride.
@@clarealexander9226 Thanks for advice.
I took a sportster and a streetbob for a ride.
Ended up buying the streetbob
@@CritikillACClaimed Great bike, enjoy!
Another boat anchor? ! Oh well someone has to buy them I suppose.
+Howard Brandwood It would be the best part of YOUR freakin boat!
Knobbing the mechanic for sure
Ah the old classic....female takes bike to male mechanic and so they must be 'knobbing' as you so eloquently put it. I find this really disrespectful. What decade did you just crawl out from? I suggest you go back there and take your fancy words with you.
an all womans bike run ?......hmmmmm ok
Please, not another frickin harley lovefest. Why not do something a little less sheeple.
It's a staff bike feature so you sort of have to feature what they ride. There hasn't been that many Harleys, think there's been more Ducatis and Yamahas.
EXACTLY! @@Paul-io6dy Clare is the only Harley rider out of our 50+ staff. Hardly a Harley-fest.
It’s definitely not a Harley fest at the Bike Shed. We have a brilliant mix of all bikes. This is my staff bike and I love it. All the best mate.
