i saw Rory in 1973 i did not know who he was.. he opened up for Deep Purple at the time when they were peaking , Rory and his band were on fire and blew the roof off the place. he left the audience in a frenzy after doing an encore the crowd was standing on their chairs demanding more chanting his name over and over.. as good as Purple were back them he made it difficult for them that night. the next day i went out and bought everything he made and became a fan for decades
I had the pleasure to see Rory Gallagher when I was about 15 🤔 16 God I could not believe what I was watching 😮 I have been playing guitar ever since 🙏🏻 Thanks to you Rory Gallagher RIP 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I can’t count the number of times we saw Rory live in the 70’s. It felt like he was permanently on the road and we took every opportunity to be in that crowd enjoying every blistering moment of blues rock at its very best. Rory and Peter green - the very best players

Love Rory to pieces, but his attempts to incorporate the electric piano into the mix were...mixed at best. He sounded better by far in a trio setting (with a few overdubs) during the later '70s. High Priority is just a testament to that level of excellence...
This take on Walk On Hot Coals has been a daily go-to youtube clip for years. As others have said, the line-up here is the tops, I'm a big fan of Lou Martin on this. Thanks for posting.
Picked up Tatto’d Lady on a whim in ‘71 or ‘72 because I liked the cover. I was hooked from the first tune. I have loved his music since. Crushed when I heard he passed. I think he just might be the best rock blues guitarist and performer ever.
I saw Rory do this set in Sydney only weeks before this Madrid concert. Rory was dynamite live, here he is at his peak, he influenced so many of us, RIP Rory G.

The organ added a whole new demention and was complimentary to Rory. Jerry was an overlooked and bad ass bassist, never saw any better. RIP Rory, the world loves u❤❤

It hard to explain how good this guy and this band was live,have watch some of the big one's, if had to watch a repeat performance ,it would be Rory every time.
An incredible Rory in this concert almost 50 years old ! Thank you for sharing. Rory I saw him 4 times with Taste, then around fifteen times in Switzerland, as well as in France, Germany and London and he is really the first guitarist who led me to appreciate this style !

I'm french, i went in Scotland, when i was 18 years old, i travelled all around the world, i worled as a roadie, i did a lot of crazy things, in my life, i'm 43 now, but, Scotland, was one of top 3 travel😂Edimburgh, then Dundee....😂Dundee, an old couple, pf kind peoples, welcomed us, 4 stupid french guys... They gave us the key of the house, we went in the pub every night😂I finished, 1 night, collapsing, lying on the road so much i was drunk,after a fantastic night in a pub, with beautiful peoples who welcomed us so perfectly, i was on the road, drunk, stoned, (we brought cannabis from France😂)... The police found me, and instead puting me in a jail, they put me in the car, and bring me back to the family who welcomed me😂😂😂😂🤭🤭🤭🤭Years after, i sent a letter to apologize....Beautiful peoples, beautiful country....👍❤️Rory was Irish, a fantastic guitarist, i went in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and England....Great countries! Except England😂Sorry!
Absolutely fabulous! Notice the complete absence of 100 watt stacks, pedal boards or harmony vocals, for that matter! Nothing except four exceptionally talented musicians, doing what they did better than anyone! This was Rory at his peak!
Yeh... you see guitarists now, they'll have about a grands worth of pedals, and basically the tone used for 95% of rock is this, a guitar plugged into a overdriven amp.

Rory, Roy Buchanan, and Jeff Healey are right there with any player of any time. They were each unique, impossible to cover, and were outright masters that I don’t believe will be matched in my lifetime.
Great drummer amazing his timeing and skills on the kit. It's magic plus playing with Rory don't make them like this anymore. Fucking incredible drumming,and with a guitar player that just blows them all away. RIP Rory Thanks for the music,
Big thanks for posting these concerts from the prime of Rory's career. This lineup with Rod d'Ath and Lou Martin was the best he ever had and they supported him perfectly. I can't get enough of "Walk on Hot Coals". The "quiet" part where Rory's mainly riffing with the drums is always a spine-tingler. I don't think this version is quite up to the awesomeness quotient of the recording on the Irish tour, but it's still wonderful.

I've hear bout Rory but just now checked him out. He's amazing. I started out in the late 70's getting into Zepp and Sabbath. Then onto Yes and Queen. And of course Kansas. Almost all rock music has it's roots in the Blues. Honestly, in the past few years I was drawn to Roy Buchanan and Gary Moore...... those dewds are epic

Was i was younger, bands like aerosmith/ ted nugent/ boston, tons of em.. The aspiring, musicians in my school, said if ya wanna see great bands with grear guitar players..Rory gallgher & Frank marinos name always came up..I did not get to see either of, would uve loved to see this band hyere..Thanx for this video..Sounds great and great black & white footage!! From the vids ,ive seen, there are not many musicians ,who can sing notes along with guitar notes, like RG!! A true force!! No whammy , no pedals, which ,thats true guitar playing there!!
Odd here that the camera guys covered the bass player 90% more than they did Rory. They put it on Rory for like a second then switch back to the bass or drums.
Bought Rory a pint of Guinness after his brilliant show at the Marquee club in Wardour street back in the day, he joined all the punters afterwards, proper rock star and top bloke
in the 2000's we thought DVD bootlegs were gonna be a massive upgrade on old tapes etc, but it was in most case the opposite, with junk dropped onto DVD just to make a fast $$££. Thanks for watching and commenting Mary

48 yrs ago. He was born in 48 and almost 48 when he passed ? This Is my favorite band. Always !

Clapton was always good at talking about the blues but Gallager really played the blues. One of the best musicians in this style of all time.

Odd here that the camera guys covered the bass player 90% more than they did Rory. They put it on Rory for like a second then switch back to the bass or drums.

Bought Rory a pint of Guinness after his brilliant show at the Marquee club in Wardour street back in the day, he joined all the punters afterwards, proper rock star and top bloke
It really is fantastic when you meet someone like Rory and they are as nice as you could possibly hope for.
And his backing band was fab!
I used to have a crappy bootleg DVD of this show. I don't know which was worse - the video or the audio. This is a huge improvement, and what a show!
in the 2000's we thought DVD bootlegs were gonna be a massive upgrade on old tapes etc, but it was in most case the opposite, with junk dropped onto DVD just to make a fast $$££. Thanks for watching and commenting Mary
El dvd al que te refieres fue pasado con seguridad de una transcripción a mpeg en los años 90s de una vieja cinta vhs de la que llegó a mí una copia como bootleg. Esta versión es una transcripción digital de la cinta original televisiva de la reemisión que hizo RTVE para el Canal Nostalgia hace relativamente poco. RTVE y TeeVee han hecho un buen trabajo. La grabación original fue repartida en tres episodios, la parte acústica lamentablemente se perdió.

Unbelievable! Rory was so great. Like most of the great guitar players he was a great showman as well. Lucky enough to have seen him open for Rush on the Signals tour.
I first saw him with Taste at the Bath Festival in 1969.
